A tea party exit would be a blessing for GOP
CNN, by David Frum

"Do the Republican and Democratic parties do an adequate job of representing the American people, or do they do such a poor job that a third major party is required?" A record 60% of Americans now yearn for a third major party, according to Gallup. Independents, unsurprisingly, are most likely to favor a third party, but a majority of self-described Republicans say yes, too. But what do they mean by that "yes"? Obviously, they mean many different things. Some yearn for a third party representing the Michael Bloomberg center: fiscally conservative and socially liberal like the New York City mayor. But here´s

Thanks but we never want your advice Davie.

It just reinforces that when you are taking flak from all sides you must be over the target.

I am Ted Cruz (and Mike Lee and that house rep that talked with Hannity on his radio show last Wed or Thurs about how we need smaller govt, major cuts in spending and we won´t surrender--wish I caught his name).

That´s right, David. Then we would never again have to worry about troublesome things like the Constitution, the Free Enterprise System, fiscal responsibility, and the like. We could hand the car keys back to John McCain so he can ride along in the progressive parade.

Gee.. who was it who busted their rear ends for the Republicans back in the 2010 elections?

It was the Tea Party people. I never hear from people like Frum as to exactly why the Tea Party citizens are "extremists."

Frum´s candidates... McCain and Romney got stomped...and Frum blames the Tea Party?

Nonsense. Guys like Frum are too used to losing...and they like it...and America declines.

I agree with #1 .. I mean... who with any intelligence sits back and wonders "what would Frum think?"

Phooey. Most of my life, the Dems propose a lot more government, and the Repubs would meet them half-way with not quite as much, but still more. So there was no question as to the direction, just the speed.

Along comes the Tea Party, and horrors of horrors, actually wants a reduction in government. But now there is no compromise, we are just labeled extremists.

The Dim party represents dim leftist Americans just fine, as they are just as dishonest, prone to Projection, and evil. I´m not sure who the Republicans represent, but it certainly isn´t normal, patriotic, hard-working, tax-paying Americans. Due to massive Democrat election fraud and the importation of millions of illegal aliens, it apparently isn´t any use voting for Republicans any longer. We do need a third party that represents sane people, such as the Tea Party.

David Frum is out for David Frum. He may be educated, but he isn´t smart. The importance of education so promoted by the ´educated´ still produces people like this. There is nothing like having run a business to add to a person´s life experience. Most of the commentariat have never even worked so much as a Dunkin Donuts of a Carvel. I only wish these people had the experience that I was so fortunate to have; working as a cashier at drug store for 50 cents an hour with all the candy I could eat....this all having happened when I was only 12 years old. Yes, with my meager education I was trusted to make change for the owner. Yes, he took advantage of my youth, but he gave me something worth more, confidence and experience. It was from that I developed pride of good work and my nacent self developed conservative philosophy. I even paid my own bus fare to get to the drug store. Yes, I did go to college, but nothing will ever be as important to me as the pride I learned with the drug store experience.

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

He’s been hammered for going around Congress with executive orders. But he’s within his authority—and he should go further on voting and transparency to make government work better. With Congress paralyzed, President Obama has promised to use his “pen and phone” to overcome the ongoing dysfunction and get some work done. And the White House has already acted several times to help improve America’s economy. But such policies, no matter how valuable, will achieve little if we do not fix our broken democracy. Allow me to suggest some ideas for how the president can do just that. First, some historical context. Presidents

Here is a selection of highlights from Friday’s release of documents from the Clinton presidency. The cache is part of a total of about 33,000 pages of presidential records that had been held back from various public records releases because of legal reasons exempting them from disclosure. A Clinton administration memo (page 674) shows a White House that was acutely aware of the first lady’s image problems as officials contemplated how to soften perceptions of Hillary Clinton and how to “build, energize and expand” her natural base. The latest cache of previously withheld Clinton documents includes an

They say it´s the sincerest form of flattery. At a press conference yesterday President Obama asserted that when it comes to ObamaCare, the Republican Party "is going through the stages of grief--anger and denial and all that stuff--and we´re not at acceptance yet." We used the same gag in October, though ObamaCare supporters were the butt of our joke. The GOP has been hijacked. That’s right, hijacked. Over the past 100 years, an elite progressive minority has taken the Republican Party far afield from its conservative platform and the interests and values of its grassroots conservative base. I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. We are angry at the disrespect shown to limited-government constitutional conservatives

But the former Cabinet member and possible future presidential candidate may have been better served by a different title—like, say, Tough Decisions. Because Hard Choices has already been used. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn.
