Republicans retreat from US budget
hard line

Financial Times, by Richard McGregor and James Politi

A sharp public backlash against the political logjam in Washington has pushed Republicans to moderate their hardline stance on the budget, raising hopes of a deal with the White House ahead next week’s deadline to approve new government borrowings. Senior Republicans were galvanised by an NBC/Wall St Journal poll showing the lowest ratings for the party since the survey started in 1989, prompting them to submit plans to jumpstart talks with Barack Obama and the Democrats. (Snip) Republican demands that Barack Obama cut funding for or delay his healthcare law – a deal-breaker for Democrats – now appear to be off

Sold down the river again by the establishment republicans. Why bother to fight the fight if you are not going to fight to the end and/or to win, but instead plan on surrendering halfway through. Ya know if the founders had the same courage as our current republican leadership, we would still be a colony of Britain.

I got news for the establishment republicans, if they think that we believe these polls, they are sorely mistaken and will find out in their political pocket books.

And if they think that we are going to support them at the ballot box, they are again sorely mistaken.

They, apparently, are NEVER GOING TO STAND UP FOR US. And lastly, the entire reason that the obamacare debacle is in the news this week is BECAUSE of Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. The media was FORCED to cover it because of the work done by Cruz and Lee in the senate overnighter educating the public about obamacare. I am disgusted at the establisment´s behavior the past two weeks.

We have had enough. "It is time to tame this government beast"!

OK, here we go! Anyone with swampland to sell, a used car to unload, broken refrigerators, worn out shoes, 35 years of Time Magazine back issues, a broken lawn mower, all of it. Sell it all to the Republicans. They aren´t just caving, they´re puking all over themselves.

Want $100 dollars for that car that won´t run? No problem! The Republicans will negotiate you UP to $20,000. Want ten bucks for those worn out sneakers? Watch the Republicans negotiate you up to a grand. Old magazines? Just dangle them in front of the Republicans, then sit back and watch them bid THEMSELVES up. You don´t have to say word.

The world is upside down. Obama and Reid insisted on a clean CR, so the Republicans will give them a CR that GIVES BACK the sequester cuts they didn´t even ask for. Mind boggling.

Hey! Where´s my wallet???

I don´t think we´re ever going to get our country back, the situation is going to have to play out to the bitter ugly end.
used to love to read apocalypse novels, you know the ones, where maimed survivors struggled to keep going in nuclear wastelands. I see a wasteland coming, but it´s one of lost dreams, failed hopes, lawlessness and tribalism, despair. A Great Depression with no end because our rulers want it so. I believe with all my heart that conservatives are the good guys, but we´re losing. We refuse to lie, cheat, deceive and steal and we´re going to lose.

Republican leaders in Washington, DC are signaling they will cave on the fight against Obamacare. Heck, they are signaling they are caving on everything.
Isn’t it interesting that when Ted Cruz and Jim DeMint were touring America to fight against Obamacare, the popularity of the GOP was going up and the popularity of Obamacare was going down. But now that John Boehner and the Orange Man Group of Capitol Hill are the faces of the GOP, Obamacare’s popularity is going back up and the GOP’s popularity is going back down.
GOP Leaders, by caving, are signaling they want us to primary them.

Mickey Rooney, the pint-sized actor who was one of MGM’s giant box office attractions in the late ’30s and early ’40s, died on Sunday. He was 93. As adept at comedy as drama and an excellent singer and dancer, Rooney was regarded as the consummate entertainer. During a prolific career on stage and screen that spanned eight decades (“I’ve been working all my life, but it seems longer,” he once said), he was nominated for four Academy Awards and received two special Oscars, the Juvenile Award in 1939 (shared with Deanna Durbin) and one in 1983 for his body of work.

Last week, news broke that a congressional candidate in Gainesville had a secret pastime: impersonating vampires. And superheroes. Some people would call this nutty. In Florida, we just call it Tuesday. Seriously, that´s not even our highest-profile vampire story. Remember the "vampire killings" from Lake County? Some of our stories are heartbreakingly tragic. But so many are also mind-numbingly strange. In Florida, we do weird the way Kansas does wheat. Here, giant pet snakes escape. And breed. And then invade our national parks.
