Shutdown leaves kin of dead
soldiers without money for funerals

New York Daily News, by Joseph Straw And Stephen Rex Brown

Original Article

Posted By:drive, 10/9/2013 8:05:54 AM

Families of fallen military service members usually receive a "death gratuity" of $100,000 for interment and expenses within days, but not during government shutdown. They paid the ultimate price serving their country — but their government can’t spare a cent to cover their funerals. The stooges on Capitol Hill added insult to tragedy Tuesday when it was revealed that the families of four soldiers and a Marine who were killed in Afghanistan have not received a $100,000 “death gratuity” because of the government shutdown....

The "stooges on Capitol Hill" are NOT the ones withholding the death gratuity. Barrycade is doing that. That money has already been appropriated and was not dependent on last week´s legislation. Shame on Odumma. Shame on the sychophant "leaders" at the Pentagon. Shame on the authors of this piece.

Vicious, heartless, soul-less, O. regime. Makes you wonder about the character of the individuals who voted for this Marxist who inflicts pain on the American people with a grin on his face.

King Obama the Heartless is surely furious that the deaths of 5 more Americans in Afghanistan were made public. He could care less about denying death benefits to the families, which is why Obama ordered the denial despite approved funding.

What´s so cruel is that Obama spends $180,000 an hour just to fly AF1 on his almost daily campaigning yet he refuses to cover the commercial airfare for the families of these servicemen and servicewoman who want to meet the bodies at Andrews AFB. He´s also cutoff the families from receiving the last paychecks and the $100.000 death benefit. Some benefit.

Will US forces in Afghanistan refuse to go on patrol as a result of this callousness?

It was estimated that it cost $100,000 to barricade the WWII monument; a whole lot of other costly barricading has been going on as well. King Barry has the money for that but not for our fallen (meaning dead, Obozo) servicemen.

All doubt has now been removed about whose side the military will be on when the balloon goes up. Obama and his brownshirts will soon get to know exactly how General Custer felt when he saw the "unexpected" thousands of Lakota behind him.

Stinky hates the military and the feeling is mutual.

How many soldiers? If Americans can raise millions for tsunami victims half a world away, can we not help families that the President of the United States has intentionally deserted after disrespecting their loved ones, bury their dead? We don´t need the government to take care of each other. Where may I contribute?

FTA: Legislation was enacted toward the end of last week to ensure that the troops would continue to get paid.
But the law did not authorize “any payments to family members of service members, and therefore cannot be used to legally justify the payment of survivor benefits,” a Pentagon official told the Daily News.
Using this logic of a Pentagon Lackey, WHERE in the ObamaCare law does it specify EXEMPTIONS to the chosen few?
ANSWER: (1) Obama picks and chooses what LAWS to follow and (2) Obama enjoys inflicting pain on our military.

Imagine this:

It´s a bright sunny afternoon. Your child is due home from Iraq in a few weeks. His siblings are out with their friends, his father running an errand. You´re fixing something for dinner.

You look out the window and see two Marines walking to the door. You run to the door, look them in the eye and tell them, "Tell me he´s okay." No response. "Tell me he´s alive." No response.

"We regret to inform you that (insert your child´s name) has been killed in the line of duty." You stumble back absorbing what you have just been told, break down in sobs, and try to process that your life, your husband´s life and your children´s life has been irrevocably changed forever.

Your husband comes home, walks in and sees them on the couch as they stand to address him. You watch him be informed of his son´s death, politely tell them he wouldn´t want their job and exchange contact information. They leave, and you watch him crumble into sobs.

(cont.)You go pick up your children from their friends, watching your older son flirting with some girls and knowing you are about to change their lives forever. You bring them home, sit them on the couch and tell them their older brother is dead. The older child crumbles into a ball sobbing on the couch. The younger one stares in disbelief asking why he didn´t shoot the bad guy first.

You plan the funeral over the next few days. You walk into a florist to pick out flowers you never wanted to buy for a child who should have been coming home. You take the trip to Dover to see him brought home in a box covered by a flag. It becomes real for the first time. The ceremony at Dover is both reverent and devestating. You wait 4 days for them to prepare his body for burial and you go back to Dover to bring him home.

The next few days there are the wake and funeral and always tears. The 21 gun salute, Taps, the folded flag presented "On Behalf of a Grateful Nation."

Years of grief and coming to terms with your new life has only begun. It happened to us.

And this Administration really has the nerve to throw financial issues on these families? REALLY?

Tho the families of the fallen, it will take a long time, but you will get through this, one day at a time. Your loved one will always be with you and he/she will watch over you everyday. God will help you if you let Him. Americans grieve with you all over this country.

This and other peevish, petty, petulant stunts is what history and historians --if an honest one can be found, will remember 0b@$tard for.

And for as much as she´s a pariah for her knee-pad adoration of the Mulatto Marxist during the first campaign, Peggy Noonan has a point in this morning´s column: It should have been the Leftists making the funding proposals to keep certain areas of the government open, rather than letting the "R"S pass the bills and Dingy Harry not allowing the vote. It probably would have gone that way had it not been for Ted Cruz. He´s so hated by the Leftists, they took the wrong tactic thinking they were making him look bad.

The Leftists have completely misplayed this from minute one.

For as much as the Knee Pad Urinal-ists have skewed the facts of who´s doing what, I think America "gets it."

First, the gratuity is intended to pay for the family flying to Dover, retrieving the body of their loved one and the subsequent funeral expenses. Most of that (the travel and lodgings) can be handled by the military on a simple order from the CinC, that is, Obama. Second, the House is passing legislation (probably today) to fix the funding oversight (they have already provided funding for military pay). The families will get the money a little late but they will get it. The media is throwing a screaming fit about this horror being perpetrated on the poor families of our service men implying it was the fault of those evil Republicans. It´s just a glitch in financing. If the families are actually not abled to travel to Dover and retrieve their loved one that will be the fault of Obama who could fix it with a royal wave of his hand.

When the small rivulet of disgust and loathing becomes a gushing stream and then quickly a raging torrent, the MSM levee will be breached and will crumble against the force of righteous anger. On that day the stinky, petulant little punk and his minions who have sullied and soiled our White House will discover they can run but find no place to save their worthless hide.

May God Bless our brave men and women who risk and sometimes give their lives to protect us from the likes of such trash and may He comfort their families as they grieve over and worry about their brave warriors.

American hating Bayonet Boy Obama, his communist cabal and his America hating voters are enjoying this.
It´s obvious that Obama will nudge the Tea Party, bikers, conservatives, veteran until the first blow is struck with violence. He is gourding us into some action so he can strike back with his drones and military power. He will confiscate guns and declare himself dictator.
Obama wants to provoke the right to stamp us out. Be careful when confronting the enemy on the mall or anywhere else. Obama knows if he strikes first against the American citizens his kingship will be over and his party of communist is over. Watch and pay attention to his actions.

Standing ovation to #17 for cutting right to the heart of the problem, it needs to be said again, and it needs to be shouted from the rooftops: We have a man running this country who is not of our culture, not of America.

To the "birthers," I have said from day one, it doesn´t matter if he´d been born deep in the heart of Texas and could prove it. He was raised by people, and exposed to people, and his deepest associations have always been with people who who despise this nation and hold Her and Her People in contempt.

What better way to show your contempt for a nation than to disrespect the military, the very ones who have fought for centuries and continue to fight to keep us free.

Anyone who saw the video of Rev. Wright stand in the pulpit of a so-called church and ask God to damn America, and know that 0bama sat in the pews of that church for 20+ years, would have to know that 0bama is not of our culture; not OF America.

That´s the reason I hold people like Krauthammer and Noonan in contempt: they are the ones who told us we didn´t have anything to fear from an 0bama presidency, disregarding, completely ignoring Wright and Ayers and Dorne and Indonesia and "nothing so sweet as the sound of the Muslim call to prayer."

0bama is not OF America, and it goes far deeper than simply, "He hates America."

The president knows that the bulk of people in this country will either not hear of this treatment of these families or, if they do, they won´t blame Obama. They´ll be primed my the lapdog press to blame Republicans, not realizing that as CinC he could help these families. But boy, when it comes to him, we must spare no expense. It is one thing to dislike a leader and another to feel sheer disgust. I am so there.

#39: That Today opening was a vain thinly-veiled attempt to pin this on the Tea Party Caucus. Cutting off the funds when the House had already unanimously passed military funding is on Harry Reid and the Emperor. The people have been awakened, and more and more can see through the LSM´s lies.

You may be right, but I do wonder what the wild card is going to be. "No plan survives first contact with the enemy." And that first contact cannot always be controlled to the planners´ liking.

Lincoln was patient enough and just provocative enough to goad the Confederate´s to attack Fort Sumter, but what if the South had instead, for example, sent a delegation with an armed escort to DC to negotiate with Lincoln? What would his response have been? To imprison them? Maybe. What if the escort had resisted? He would have lost the international moral high ground in the lead-up to war. And had he rejected the delegates? It would have been close to lose-lose for him as the South could have hoped for at the time.

So. What will Odumma do if the truckers shut down DC on Friday? Arrests? Will that lead to violence? Where would that leave the Teamsters? If the truckers shut down DC, is Odumma in even more of a lose-lose than he is right now? What are his "goof-for-him" options?

Lincoln got lucky for all the right reasons. Odumma isn´t facing a foe who will strike first - we´re not the third-worlders he´s planning for (he´s made it clear he doesn´t know us), but his leftist supporters are. Let him goad and provoke us then, because that´s who he´s really goading to action... and from an American point of view, it´s for all the wrong reasons. It will bite him in the private parts.

I am astounded that anyone is surprised by this.
The shutdown gave Obama the ability to pick and chose the areas receiving the most punishment.
Duh.
Who didn´t see this coming ???
It was either extremely naive or extremely dumb for the Shue Er Down caucus to think Obama
was going to act like Mr Rogers.
They handed him the weapon to bludgeon any targets he wanted and now they´re shocked ???
The same crowd is going to have a looooong wait if they think they guy is
ever going to defund Obamacare.
He knows , as does everyone else ,
that there are not enough Democrat votes in the Senate willing to join Republicans in order to
override his veto.
The Republicans had already negotiated a good budget deal from Reid-they got all the cuts they wanted and that´s gone, now.
What exactly was the point of the shutdown ?
If it was to weaken the Republican´s poll numbers and bargaining position, I guess it was a huge success.

#41 ~ the South struck first with the Fugitive Slave Act in 1850. In the interim Lincoln, and others like him, studied the situation and got ready and then, as the day followed the night, the chance came and they took it.

The South was not only relieved of the burden of slavery, it was crushed into insignificance for a century.

So, too, today. The Democrats overstepped again, and we´ve taken a good look at their product ~ we studied it ~ and now, the chance has come to remove these people out of the body politic forever!

ObamaKKKare is burdening our poor and our young with crushing expense. I think this business of criminalizing the normal behavior of free people to be the closest thing to the Fugitive Slave Act we´ve ever seen in modern times.

This time it´s the Democrats in the lead with the Fascist flag ~ and when it´s done there´ve got to be no more of their kind to vex us and challenge freedom.

Have they got a big surprise coming, and I can not wait to read the news headlines the morning of November 5, 2014. The day of reckoning is coming and it´s count down time. 390 days and a wake up.

Not to put too fine a point on it, Hagel and the administration have blatantly lied to the nation when they have asserted that there is no authority for the Pentagon to either pay the $100K death gratuity or provide transportation for families.

Earlier this week, the Secretary of Defense ordered approximately 400,000 civilian workers back to duty.

The Secretary of Defense has broad authority to reprogram funds from one appropriation to another. It is done all the time. The only requirement is that the reprogramming have a statutory authority. While Congress ultimately has to approve transfers between line items, it is done routinely. One can’t imagine anyone on Capitol Hill, other than Harry Reid and Dick Durbin, objecting to such an action.

The money is there. The authority exists. The only reason that the authorization hasn’t been made is that the Administration has decided that the public will blame the Republicans for this travesty. This is very much in keeping with the low esteem with which the Democrat party has historically held members of the armed forces. This is the party of the Slow Bleed strategy in Iraq so their abuse of the families of the dead isn’t a huge shock.

The one silver lining, if any can be found in all if this, is the neat little headline right now on Drudgereport. In fact, two of them. One says Moody´s all but call Obamster a liar about the debt ceiling.

The other? His popularity has slipped to 37%.

In all the anger, frustration, and emotional pain, it relieves me some to know his ego took a bruising when he saw that one. Yes, it made me feel good to know he winced in pain, because I know it stung. It stung bad. It´s about time he reaped some of what he has sown.

But, it goes far, far deeper than that. It means that even some Democrats an LoFo´s are waking up! Once you see something, you cannot UNSEE it! This is awesome news!

The light is dawning in the dark recesses, and the most delicious part of it all is he did it to himself. The Republicans have certainly not harped enough on any of these issues, therefore, peoples´ eyes are being opened by Bamsters own actions!

That knowledge, above everything else, had to have hit home about the same time the poll did.

I am enjoying every freaking schaudenfreude moment of it, too. It made my day, it made my week, and in every pain he has caused, it is nice to know he gets to share in that. It is only going to get worse, now, for him. Good.

ROME - Pope Francis washed the feet of 12 disabled and elderly people Thursday - women and non-Catholics among them - in a pre-Easter ritual designed to show his willingness to serve others like a "slave." Francis´ decision in 2013 to perform the Holy Thursday ritual on women and Muslim inmates at a juvenile detention center helped define his rule-breaking papacy just two weeks after his election. It riled traditionalist Catholics, who pointed to the Vatican´s own regulations that the ritual be performed only on men since Jesus´ 12 apostles were men.

When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. “On the third day, he rose again.” That line, from the Nicene Creed, is a foundational statement of Christian belief. It declares that three days after Jesus died on the cross, he was resurrected, a glimmer of the eternal life promised to believers. It’s the heart of the Easter story in seven little words. But how that statement is interpreted is the source of some of the deepest rifts in Christianity — and a stumbling block for some Christians, and more than a few skeptics.
