If you’re puzzled why ObamaCare is so polarizing, consider how a law that’s ostensibly about fairness — health care for all — can be so unfair. Favored groups like unions and some businesses have carved out exceptions for themselves, while the average American could see their hours cut or their job eliminated. Perhaps the most frequently talked about, but also most widely misunderstood, dispensations is the one for Congress and its staff. Despite the Internet shorthand, Congress is not “exempted” from ObamaCare. Still, Congress is being treated differently than millions of other Americans who stand to lose under ObamaCare.
It is true that most people have paid no attention to the Obamacare law. But is also true that a lot of young people and low intelligence adults treat their yearly tax refunds as a savings account and eagerly anticipate that large chunk of Walmart money every January. And via the ´credits´ non-tax paying filers get as a gift, most people are getting something. I can´t wait for the reaction from those folks when they get their refund check minus the Obamacare fine. Those that don´t get a refund simply will not pay. The next step for the Democrats will be criminal penalties.
Doctors practices and hospitals cannot survive on the reimbursements for medicaid. Do you think it will be any better when so many ´folks´ decide to just pay the fine ? Do you think the single payer system that they want will support these hospitals and doctor´s practices with the pitiful reimbursement ? Not hardly. We are heading for a complete collapse because , unlike the postal service, the country will not be able to afford to bail out obamacare. Can´t wait to see the number of doctors who ´retire´ early.
Just you wait........we do not have obamacare nor have we tried to apply for obamacare but as of Oct 1, we have been asked to fill out a bunch of forms and send in a copy of our 2012 income tax to our current health insurance provider. Why is that? an just who will get to make decisions on all this paperwork with personal info on it????????Something is really rotten in Illinois!
Obamacare is a power-grab, pure and simple. They don´t give a flying rat´s patoot about insurance coverage for the poor. They just want to control us, in every way possible. How else would such nonentities as Harry Reid and Barack Obama ever be able to feel important?
It is only fitting that his signature legislation will spell the end for President Kardashian. He will be relegated to retirement in disgrace where the only people who have to hear his obnoxious voice will be the unlucky SS people who have to walk around the golf course with him. There will have to be a bunch of them because he won´t have any friends left in this country and probably most of the world. Obamacare as it stands can´t possibly work and the chaos of the first week is only the beginning.
Except for insider privileged groups, Obamacide is a forced, communist conspired threat of IRS jail doctrine that would make Hitler, Stalin, Lenin and Marx all smile. Get used to it, it´s all about totalitarian dictatorship of the masses over their bodies and minds. Read any of the above mad men (there is so much published wealth of this totalitarian dogma), then, combine it with Feinstein, Reid, Puglosi, Soetero, Holder, Jaret, Sawyers, Brokaw, the whole commie bunch and see, find, today´s haunting parallels to past crimes of previous regimes and current crimes of our present regimes. Republican and Democrats are both selling Communism in one form or another, and they are all in tune with the same dogma: never mention the one key word, Communism. Keep everybody off track. Hollywood has conspired in this tragedy by never allowing the subject of communism to be included in any movie for the last sixty years. You will never see even a loud mouth character call someone "a commie". Not even in biker movies. There are no anti communist genre films. NONE! Last, you will never see one film about Soviet Stalinist Communist, warring, famine provoking, Gulag Archipelago enslaving Russia. NEVER. Hollywood, single handedly has deadened mass America´s mind on the reality of this horror (of course there are books of Communist horor for the select to read). Now, our communists have put into place, a major change in our lives: police enforced medicine. Fines, confiscation, imprisonment for any disobedience to the dictatorship. A totalitarian knife has been used to stab doctors, nurses, technicians professional lives in the back. Young Andrew Breitbart saw, and declared, this Marxism coming, and then he died suddenly.
The author did not touch the low hanging fruit of the healthcare.gov contact phone number. I assembled the 972 combinations in a truth table format using Excel, and there is only one combination that hints at words that can be found in a dictionary. An article on the obscenity was previously posted on L.com and reported on Drudge.
People don´t seem to realize that this bill has ruined EVERYONE´s healthcare. No insurance is allowed to be sold that doesn´t fullfill what it sets up: drug rehab, pregnancy, infant care etc. even for those who have no need. This is going to make all insurance costs go up orders of magnitude whether through the Fed exchanges or one buys it himself. Buckle your seatbelts, you´re in for a very bumpy road and possible insuranceless future!
The South African Communist Party is admitting Nelson Mandela was a high-ranking member. Will the media report these facts? Or will the “myth” continue to prevail? My friend Victor Lasky used to write books about liberal or left-wing figures that carried the name of the person and the subtitle, “The Man and the Myth.” He would compare the coverage of a political figure with the truth. The coverage of the death of Nelson Mandela has focused mostly on the myth. Key facts are being omitted, including Mandela’s secret membership in the South African Communist Party (SACP), which may shed light on
This week Vice President Joe Biden found himself in a tense situation as he visited Japan, China and, currently, South Korea. What was meant to be a routine visit to the three countries turned into a diplomatic peace keeping mission regarding China´s expanded air zone, and the media there has been keeping tabs on how well Biden´s doing. Japan and South Korea are upset with China because it expanded its air zone into their air zones on November 23. China thinks Japan started it — it being the escalation of tensions — but the world points out that China announced
At a fundraiser in Seattle on the day before Thanksgiving, President Obama told a group of Democratic donors, apparently without a hint of irony, “I’m not a particularly ideological person.” One wouldn’t know it from the ponderous 48-minute oration on income inequality that he delivered in Washington on Wednesday. Mr. Obama devoted the majority of it to the cause of lamenting a “dangerous and growing inequality and lack of upward mobility” that he says is jeopardizing the middle class. The unraveling of the “social compact,” he said, began in the late ‘70s. “The result is an economy that’s become profoundly unequal,
It was a sunny day in Beijing on Thursday—refreshingly sunny, to be more precise—when Vice President Joe Biden met Chinese Premier Li Keqiang. I know this because I have read the pool report of the occasion, a pithy and practically content-free piece of journalism that is nevertheless one of the more entertaining things to enter my inbox in recent days. The pool report confirms the lingering suspicion—if it hasn’t been confirmed a million times already—that the line between journalism and Democratic Party cheerleading has more than faded. It has become invisible. Pool reports are summaries of official events distributed to reporters,
W hen unexpected events happen — be they natural disasters or terrorist attacks — the consequences can be dire. As a result, governments have gone to great lengths to prepare for the unexpected as best they can, stockpiling scarce resources in case supplies get cut off. The most famous example is the United States’ Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). With a capacity of 727 million barrels of oil, the SPR is the largest stockpile of government-owned emergency crude oil in the world. Established in the aftermath of the 1973-74 oil embargo, the SPR is meant to offset a potential disruption in commercial oil
When Barack Obama was catapulted into the Oval Office in 2008, it was with the help of millennials who turned out in record numbers and voted for him two-to-one over the GOP’s John McCain. Now his signature issue — ObamaCare — is in deep trouble. Once again, he is looking to America’s young to come through for him. Once again too, he’s relying on a campaign of speeches and public appearances to get them to do so. But in sharp contrast to 2008, he’s making his new appeal to a much more jaded demographic. According to a Harvard University poll released this
Amid growing outrage at the Obama administration’s determination to strike a deal with jihadist Iran that not only allows Iran to enrich uranium but also permits it to continue imprisoning and torturing American citizens, Secretary of State John Kerry spoke up to defend his State Department’s diplomacy. During a press availability at NATO headquarters, Secretary Kerry said this regarding Obama administration efforts to free Americans held captive overseas, including Pastor Saeed Abedini, a U.S. citizen held in Iran simply because of his Christian faith: One day is too long to be in captivity, and one day for any American citizen is more
Russian President Vladimir Putin said this week that U.S. military capabilities in the Arctic Circle leave his government little choice but to maintain a strong foothold in the frigid north, where tensions between the former Cold War adversaries in recent years have heated up as the polar ice thawed. During a meeting with students in Moscow on Tuesday, Putin was asked whether Russia and other countries might loosen their grip on Arctic territory for military exercises and exploitation of natural resources in favor of environmental preservation. The Russian leader replied that the United States hasn´t slipped off the ice shelf and implied
It may sound a bit dark, but it’s now possible to transform the ashes of the cremated deceased into a diamond–a jewel truly to remember. Using “Russian technology,” Algordanza Memorial Diamonds are created in a similar fashion to the way natural diamonds are formed. Here’s how it works: a diamond is composed of pressurized carbons. Conveniently enough, human bodies are about 18 percent carbon. Using about a pound of ashes, the firm is able to distill out the carbon and use it to form a man-made diamond in a mold under high pressure in about a week. The diamonds created this
The big talk is just how many seats will the GOP pick up in the Senate next year, and we’ve spent a lot of time right here talking about just that. But how about the House? We do still have a bicameral legislature, even if it is becoming increasingly difficult to tell them apart. The House is in the strange place where although it’s almost universally reviled, not much is going to change. Yes, gerrymandering is a part of that, but it isn’t the whole story. People are fed up with Congress generally, but with ObamaCare specifically and increasingly. To punish the
The president calls income inequality the ‘defining issue of our time.’ So it seems fair to grade him on his success at addressing it. By any measure, he has failed spectacularly. Maybe it’s the Christmas season. But when December rolls around, President Obama’s thoughts seem to turn to income inequality. On December 6, 2011, he gave what the White House billed as a “defining” speech on the subject in Osawatomie, Kansas, site of a historic address by Teddy Roosevelt on “New Nationalism.” In the 2011 speech, Obama began by painting a portrait of the 1950s and 1960s as an ideal period in American
Detroit is declaring bankruptcy while its city council considers contributing public money to build a new Hockey Stadium for the billionaire owner of the Red Wings. While Judge Steven Rhodes was trying to figure out if the city of Detroit could declare Chapter 9 bankruptcy, the Detroit City Council was also doing some thinking. Should the council kick in about $45 million of city funding towards the $650 million entertainment complex that would include a residential section and a new arena for the Detroit Red Wings National Hockey League franchise? The city council decided not to rule it out and has a
Last summer on his $100 million family tour of Africa, Barack Obama hoped for a priceless photo op with Nelson Mandela, the ailing freedom pioneer who went from prison cell to the presidency of South Africa. Mandela´s family suggested that wouldn’t happen. So, the Obamas did a photo op in Mandela´s former prison cell. Which Obama’s White House quickly tweeted upon word of the icon´s passing at 95. [Skip] But Obama was also caught staring at television coverage of Mandela’s passing, which became Obama’s Photo of the Day.
Hardly a week goes by without Hillary Clinton receiving another award. Last month she was named a “Global Champion” by the International Medical Corps, received the American Patriot Award at the National Defense University Foundation and the Hermandad Award from the Mexican American Leadership Initiative. [Snip] At this rate, if a bunch of elderly left-wing Swedes toss her the Nobel Peace Prize early on, the way they did to Obama, it will barely rate mention among all the other glittering trophies that have been bestowed on a woman whose only actual accomplishment was being married to a crooked governor with
Denver - A baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a same-sex ceremony must serve gay couples despite his religious beliefs or face fines, a judge said Friday. The order from administrative law judge Robert N. Spencer said Masterpiece Cakeshop in suburban Denver discriminated against a couple "because of their sexual orientation by refusing to sell them a wedding cake for their same-sex marriage." The order says the cake-maker must "cease and desist from discriminating" against gay couples. Although the judge did not impose fines in this case, the business will face penalties if it continues to turn away gay
Speaker John Boehner said his party should support gay Republican congressional candidates and urged his colleagues to “be a little more sensitive” when running against women. “Some of our members just aren’t as sensitive as they ought to be,” Boehner said. When asked if he thinks his party should support gay candidates, Boehner simply said: “I do.”
In February, the Bush family’s personal emails were hacked by Guccifer, a hacker who uncovered photographs of former President George H. W. Bush in a hospital bed and George W. Bush’s oil paintings in the process. It seems Guccifer has struck again, this time targeting former President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Library. The hacker has reportedly uncovered doodles of Clinton drawing on what were, at the time, classified documents. Among the doodles is apparently a picture of a penis. The document uncovered is a briefing of the strategic measures the United States could take prior Clinton’s decision to intervene in
Former President Bill Clinton shared an anecdote regarding Nelson Mandela and the aftermath of his impeachment Friday on CNN. Clinton revealed shortly after the “impeachment business” finished on Capitol Hill, Rep. Henry Hyde (R., Ill.) who managed the impeachment trial requested a meeting at the White House. The former president granted the meeting out of lessons of humility and forgiveness he learned from Mandela, he said: BILL CLINTON: I remember one day, oh, about a month after the whole impeachment business was over, Henry Hyde, who had run the whole show, unbelievably enough, maybe a few months after, it was
On Tuesday, The Boston Globe reported that Onyango “Omar” Obama, uncle to President Obama, says that his famous nephew stayed with him while a student at Harvard Law School in the 80s, in contradiction to The White House’s contention that the two had never met. At Thursday’s White House daily briefing, Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that the President had, in fact, briefly stayed with “his father’s half-brother,” as Carney described Omar Obama, and that no one had actually asked the President about it when the White House initially commented. The 69 year-old Omar Obama has been facing deportation back
One definition of a pathological liar is someone who lies where the truth would serve just as well. When President Obama’s uncle, Onyango Obama, was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving, the truth — that Obama had stayed with his uncle years earlier for several weeks as a Harvard law student — would have served the president just fine. No potential Obama voter would have held it against him that an uncle he had stayed with two decades earlier was picked up for DUI. Yet the White House went with a lie, claiming that Obama had never met his uncle. Now that
The most curious thing of all about the November jobs report released on Friday was the huge drop in the unemployment rate — and the fact that the Labor Department chose not to disclose that the data going into that figure are under investigation for falsification. On Nov. 19, I broke the news in my column that the Census Bureau, which collects data that goes into the jobless rate on behalf of Labor, had caught one of its enumerators fabricating interviews in 2010. The culprit said back then (and to me during an interview) that he was told to do so by
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) is sending out letters telling gun owners to turn over their rifles and shotguns — or else face the consequences. New York City’s ban on rifles and shotguns that hold more than five rounds is now being enforced, according to a letter the NYPD is sending out to targeted city gun owners. “It appears you are in possession of a rifle and/or Shotgun (listed below) that has an ammunition feeding device capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition. Rifles and shotguns capable of holding more than five (5) rounds of ammunition are
DAVID CORN: I saw a president who remains frustrated with the political-media culture that he has to work within, and that he´s looking to rally people, students here, and supporters, and people within the media. CHRIS MATTHEWS: But David Corn, you skeptic. He came to us today. He came amongst us. CORN: He´s trying to rally people behind this vision that he´s been promoting for a couple years. FINEMAN: By the way, he did it the end here, today, Chris, not by defending specifics, but by explaining why he´s in the game to begin with. And I don´t know about you, he´s
The world premiere of the “Ballad for Trayvon Martin for Orchestra and Jazz Quartet” is set for tonight. Princeton University’s director of its jazz-studies program composed the work in honor of the Florida teen. Anthony D. J. Branker told the Star-Ledger that the piece is intended to “be a form of healing” after Martin’s death and the controversial court case that followed it. The ballad, which will be performed by the university’s official orchestra and jazz ensemble, is intended to be a tribute to victims of racial violence, Branker explained. He hopes that the performance will be “one that speaks to
