NBC: Police Remove Vietnam
War Veterans at Memorial Wall

Weekly Standard, by John McCormack

Original Article

Via William Jacobson, NBC´s affiliate in Washington, D.C. reports that police ordered tourists and Vietnam war veterans who were visiting the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to leave the memorial at one point on Friday. After one group of veterans went around the barricade, "the park ranger told them the wall was closed," NBC´s Mark Seagraves reported. "Later another group of vets showed up and moved the barricades. At that point, the memorial filled with vets and tourists. That´s when police came and moved everyone out." The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is a black granite outdoor wall on which the names of the

In a choice between graciousness and spite, this administration always favors the latter. This president is an embarrassment to the office, petty and petulant.

The DC police have had quite a week.
Shooting an unarmed woman with a baby in the car, and removing Viet Nam Vets from their memorial.
When innocents were being killed at the Navy Yard, they were ordered to stand down.
What´s going on?

#5...get your drift, but there are a couple dozen law enforcement agencies operating in DC...Capitol Hill Police likely killed the woman wielding the 2,000 pound weapon, Nat´l Park Police were involved at the various memorials, and it was the S.W.A.T unit of the Capitol Hill Police that was reportedly told to stand down at the Navy Yard where a DC policeman became a victim while several hundred other LE types including other S.W.A.T units responded...you´re better off just slamming LEO´s a whole...

It is difficult to see how any vet can fail to recognize what disrespect they are getting from this administration.

I agree #10!! Wasn`t McCain`s campaign slogan `Fight! Fight!! Fight!!!`? Why isn`t he out there with the Vets risking arrest? Perhaps he is afraid of another beating by his imaginary captors. In fact, the GOP is missing yet another golden opportunity to score points with the American public by standing up and fighting for what is right.

They´ll pay police to keep the monuments closed, but not to keep them open. They even order some memorials to close that don´t receive funds from government coffers, and few, if any, among the mainstream press raise a stink over it.

Much like the ´fiscal cliff´ and the ´sequester´, this ´shutdown´ is artificial and arbitrary -- manufactured by Liberal pols whose spin on it is echoed by the Liberal press.

Notice that all of these stories only appear in publications such as the The Weekly Standard, Brietbart, etc? The mainstream media is diligently looking the other way to protect Obama. The Republicans, if they have any desire to get Americans on their side, have to promote these stories of the Left´s pettiness and vindictiveness by actively publicizing these events. They need to encourage folks to post pictures on Facebook, Twitter, and every media channel that they can. NBC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR, PBS, BBC, and Hollywood will not help them--they have to actively get out on a Sunday and tell these stories to the Sunday shows--otherwise, they will continue to lose.

We see that they haven´t changed at all. The left keeps urinating on Vietnam vets. This time they shouldn´t take it. We should not stand idly by and allow them to take it yet again from these worms. I´ve heard that there is supposed to be a veterans march on Washington next Sunday. If it´s true, as many of us as can go should stand by our brothers and sisters.

It´s a mistake, a big one, a dangerous one, to treat Obama [like so many R´s do] as "another liberal Democrat, if further Left than most."

It´s a mistake, a big one, a dangerous one, to be "collegial" with him. To think there´s some "mutually-agreeable" place between what Obama wants and what has been "normal," let alone properly-Constitutional Rule of Law.

It´s a mistake, a big one, a dangerous one, to regard Obama as "petty" or "nasty." He is Evil. Hateful. Out not to prevail, but to destroy, to destroy because he can. He wields power because that´s his one internalized value, his one psychically-rewarding behavior.

At most, his words are mere tools serving the exercise of power. They mean nothing to him. He lies when and on subjects where it isn´t necessary [a little like the Clintons]. Ignore it.

What Obama is is exposed in what Obama does. Here is what Obama is -- a power-mad hater of America, in all its historic and traditional and exceptional natures. And the power he wields he uses against you, against me, against our kids and grandkids, against our veterans [and not just at the Memorials], to smash the accumulated value of our decades of honest work, to continually reduce our military strength, to destroy alliances with free nations, to divide and divide again, setting takers against producers, creating more and more dysfunctional dissatisfieds.

And yes, oh yes, race is part of it. From his side, not ours.

He wants the damage he is intentionally doing to be irreparable. It will be only if we give up. I will never. And you? And you?

This is what government shutdown looks like when Obama is president .
When some Republicans argued that shutting down the government to try and defund Obamacare
was a lost cause ,
they were called the Surrender Caucus and wimps.
Sarah Palin told Republicans to woman up and shut down the government.
Hannity said this was the hill to die on and if it cost Republicans the House, so be it.
Rush said Republicans were too scared and frightened to shut down the government.
July 30: Republicans shouldn´t be so afraid of a government shutdown, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) argued Tuesday morning.
Cruz called fears of a shutdown DC cocktail chatter.
“There are some Democrats, some in the media, even some Republicans, who portray a shutdown as … a horrible calamity."
“That happens every single week on the weekend. Saturdays and Sundays
we see temporary, partial government shutdowns and the world doesn’t end,” Cruz said.
Mark Levin echoed the same sentiment.
August 20 Jim DeMint said
" that any Republican who won’t agree to shut down the government in an attempt to
scrap health care reform should be thrown out of office next November."
They all got what they demanded , despite the fact that everyone knew that Democrats control the Senate
by 10 seats and Obama would never sign a fantasy bill defunding Obamacare.
The whining looks ridiculous.
Were these guys asleep the last 5 years ?
Did they actually think Obama was going to play nice ?
The " Shut er down !! " Caucus gave him
the power and he´s going to beat everyone over the head with it.
Obama has taken full advantage of the shutdown
and he will continue
to use every means possible to punish as many innocent people as possible.
Who other than Cruz, Limbaugh, DeMint ,
Hannity and Levin didn´t see this train wreck coming ?
The reality is that after all the unnecessary closures and pain ,
Obamacare will still be the law of the land.

Sorry, #34, but you have got it all wrong.

The visibility that Cruz and Lee have brought not only to the health Care issue, but to the petty, mean-spirited attitude of the Obama administration, is a critical and important issue to the American people. These are nasty, unnecessary actions to close the memorials and National Parks and to harm veterans.

Why, tell me, can´t the Miramar Air show go forward, when it raises money for military families? Why can!t our military watch the baseball and football games when you KNOW that Obama will be watching when he is not golfing. Why are the Commisaries closed on the bases, literally denying food to families?!!

He "hurts" people because he can, and it is better to have it out in the open than behind the smoke screen of the IRS and other federal agencies.

Just ahead of a possible Hillary run for the presidency, the Clinton Library released a new load of documents from President Bill Clinton’s years in the White House. One of those documents attempts to explain Hillary´s "vast right-wing conspiracy" claim in which the Clinton administration accused Republican staffers of colluding with "extremists" on the Internet to hurt the Clintons. On January 27, 1998, Hillary Clinton appeared on NBC´s Today Show. During her interview with Matt Lauer, she claimed that a "vast right-wing conspiracy" had been trying to destroy her husband "since the day he announced for president." That interview drew

As the nation awaits Hillary Clinton´s decision of whether or not she will run for president in 2016, a cache of 7,500 pages of newly released documents from Bill Clinton´s years in the White House show some familiar political themes. One revelation is that Bill Clinton worried that a massive new healthcare scheme would cause Americans to lose their insurance. In 1993, the President allowed his wife, first lady Hillary Clinton, to become the face of an Obamacare-like takeover of the nation´s healthcare system. The plan was sarcastically dubbed Hillarycare. But as these internal documents show, in what is now a

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. WASHINGTON AND NEW YORK - In September 2001, as the U.S. reeled from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Vladimir Putin supported Washington´s imminent invasion of Afghanistan in ways that would have been inconceivable during the Cold War. He agreed that U.S. planes carrying humanitarian aid could fly through Russian air space. He said the U.S. military could use airbases in former Soviet republics in Central Asia. And he ordered his generals to brief their U.S. counterparts on their own ill-fated 1980s occupation of Afghanistan. During Putin´s visit to President George W. Bush´s Texas ranch two

Alert shoppers are accustomed to watching food prices go up and down. But a string of forces—from droughts to diseases—is raising the cost of a trip to the grocery store at a rapid clip. And it looks like it will be a while before the price pressure eases. Some of that pressure is coming from California—the source of roughly half the nation´s fruits and vegetables—where a long-running drought is forcing farmers and ranchers to cut production. After the driest year on record, large sections of farmland are expected to lay fallow this year as the Golden State copes with an ongoing water

Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) on Friday called for a Senate hearing into the dispute between Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) over cattle grazing. Heller described as "patriots" the people who came armed to Bundy’s ranch after the BLM began to seize his cattle for refusing to pay grazing fees and fines that now total more than $1 million. Heller debated the ranch standoff on a Nevada television station with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who has called the armed Bundy supporters “domestic terrorists.” "What senator Reid may call domestic terrorists, I call patriots," Heller said.

If expanding the guest list to include Michelle Obama at graduation for high school students in the Kansas capital city means fewer seats for friends and family, some students and their parents would prefer the first lady not attend. A furor over what the Topeka school district considers an honor has erupted after plans were announced for Obama to address a combined graduation ceremony for five area high schools next month an 8,000-seat arena. For some, it was the prospect of a tight limit on the number of seats allotted to each graduate. For others, it was the notion that Obama´s speech,

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. The bushy-tailed visitor

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal
