Rushmore blockage stirs
anger in S.D.

Sioux Falls Business Journal [SD], by Jonathan Ellis

Blocking access to trails and programs at South Dakota’s most popular attraction was one thing, but state officials didn’t expect Congress’ budget stalemate to shut down a view of Mount Rushmore. The National Park Service placed cones along highway viewing areas outside Mount Rushmore this week, barring visitors from pulling over and taking pictures of the famed monument. The cones first went up Oct. 1, said Dusty Johnson, Gov. Dennis Daugaard’s chief of staff. The state asked that they be taken down, and federal officials did so with some of them. The state was told the cones were a safety

Is this a precursor to what martial law will be like under the Mulatto Despot?

FTa: " . . . “outrageous” if federal officials are barring people from pulling over and taking pictures from the highway."

Is that a State highway or a Federal highway?

What happened to State´s Rights? Isn´t this how the War of Northern Aggression began?

If I were the SD governor, I´d tell the Park Service if they don´t want people looking at their monument, then they need to get the bedsheets out, as in that cartoon.

The air, and line of sight, do NOT belong to the Federal government.

Yet.

Article is mistaken. NPS workers simply want to keep Obama´s sculpture hidden until its complete. As with everything Obama, his Mt Rushmore portrayal is unprecedented: it´s a heart of stone with jug ears rather than his face.

Looks like the National Park Gestapo needs to be abolished. They continually whine that they do not have enough resources, but it looks like they have more than enough to block, obstruct, and intimidate anyone from enjoying our public-owned parks.

Easy solution (once we get rid of the dictator)...outsource the Park Service. Done.

Pretty sure if you ´accidentally´ run over an orange traffic cone, that it will not hurt your vehicle.

However, it´s probably not a good idea to just pick them up and toss them into the bushes. . . .

The shutdown has been a golden opportunity for the Democrats to demonstrate to Americans what very nasty people they are. Those pull-offs on the side of the road may not be important to the majority of Americans, but their being blocked highlights the malicious nature of the leaders of the Democratic Party.

To answer an earlier question, if the road is in a national park it is property and responsibility of the US gov´t. Here in western NC there is an inn off the Blue Ridge Pkwy (Pisgah Inn) that decided to stay open in spite of the dictate to close, the park rangers blocked the access to the property, not the parkway but the ingress/egress only. There is a story on Glenn Beck´s site about it.

Same thing at Yosemite (story elaboration on the ´´make life difficult´´ thread, too long to repeat here).

But bathrooms were blocked off, we were stopped from stopping to READ THE INTERPRETIVE SIGNS, even the National Forests have now been closed. One Park Ranger expressed his sympathy, others were as officious as rent-a-cops. We didn´t plan our trip TO Yosemite, just a drive THROUGH it. But we didn´t expect to be treated as intruders to our own public lands.

Imagine how similar or harsher ´´orders´´ will be handled if we become defined as Zombies..... the DHS and other federal agencies are already engaged in ZOMBIE TRAINING. So many think that´s a chuckle, or designed to desensitize troops to al qaeda or other true terrorists.

But the enforcement wings of these agencies (that SHOULD NOT HAVE SWAT TEAMS) are being desensitized to US, as human beings, specifically AMERICANS. We´re already defined as terrorists, arsonists, hostage-takers, etc. ´´Zombies´´ is not such a far leap.

Speaking of picking the cones up and throwing them in the bushes --as in Citizen Revolt against the tyranny imposed upon us by the Mulatto Marxist, do we have some idea now why the Feds were buying up armored vehicles, all that ammo, and other tactical equipment?

I know I´m beginning to sound to some like a broken record, but I can´t help but think about the Bonus Army and what was done to them. How many were killed when the order was given to fire upon the WWI vets by active duty military.

A lot of tyranny has been imposed upon We, The People over a long period of time, and lots of areas of revolt; citizens simply saying to a Tyrannical Government, We Will Not Obey.

Until WE the people begin to stand up and fight the tyranny of the skinny-despot-in-chief, the humiliation of this country will continue. How long before he turns off the electricity and running water to prove WHO has power? Seriously. Maybe that will get the long slumbering citizens of this country to finally pay attention, though I doubt it.

Wiki says Highway 244 which runs by Mt. Rushmore is a state highway. It runs into US highways at either end, but the road itself is a state highway. I say it´s time for the SD governor to step in.

If you´ve never been there, the views from the road are the best overall views of the face of the mountain, IMHO.

Liberals never think through to the unintended consequences of their schemes like people figuring out that this silly piece of imbecility was perpetrated by the government at considerable expense (much more than just leaving things alone) to cause the most inconvenience and discomfort possible for the public. It will generate a backlash and not help their cause.

Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Recently elected Democratic Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is warning that global warming could raise sea levels high enough to flood the Hampton Roads region, home to the world´s largest naval base, without immediate and “smart decisions.” Addressing an environmental summit this week at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., McAuliffe embraced climate change, blamed humans for causing it, and said action is needed now to protect Virginia´s coast from rising ocean levels that will result from global warming. “The first big decision of course is to accept that climate change is real,” he told the group. “I happen to believe in

President Obama stood Friday with the Rev. Al Sharpton and accused Republicans of trying to keep millions of Americans from voting, in a fiery speech days after new revelations about Sharpton’s past as an FBI informant. “The right to vote is threatened today in a way that it has not been since the Voting Rights Act became law nearly five decades ago,” Obama told the annual convention of Sharpton’s National Action Network in Manhattan. Obama’s appearance represented a presidential seal of approval of Sharpton’s role as a civil rights activist, amid the new revelations about how Sharpton used a wire to record

Nearly a year into the IRS scandal, we still don´t know exactly what happened—though we are finally getting an inkling. That´s thanks to the letter House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp sent this week to the Justice Department recommending a criminal probe of Lois Lerner. The average citizen might be dizzied by the torrent of confusing terms—BOLO lists, Tigta, 501(c)(4)—and the array of accusations that have made up this IRS investigation. Mr. Camp´s letter takes a step back to remind us why this matters, even as it provides compelling new information that goes to motive and method—and clarifies some of

Solar power has won the global argument. Photovoltaic energy is already so cheap that it competes with oil, diesel and liquefied natural gas in much of Asia without subsidies. Roughly 29pc of electricity capacity added in America last year came from solar, rising to 100pc even in Massachusetts and Vermont.[Snip] The technology is improving so fast--helped by the US military--that it has achieved a virtous circle. Michael Parker and Flora Chang, at Sanford Bernstein, say we entering a new order of "global energy deflation" that must ineluctably erode the viability of oil, gas and the fossil fuel nexus over time.

STAMFORD, Conn. — Jeb Bush defended his controversial comments about immigration reform, insisting they were nothing new for him and urging “sensitivity to the immigrant experience.” At a Connecticut Republican party dinner Thursday night, the former Republican governor of Florida did not repeat his remarks from last weekend at his father’s presidential library, when he said that people who come to the United States illegally in search of a better life for their children “broke the law, but it’s not a felony. It’s an act of love.” This time the potential 2016 candidate put it differently. “To be young and

Under the administration of President Obama, as never before in my lifetime, there is reason to be a bit afraid of the federal government. I have written two books documenting Obama´s abuses of power, his assaults on the Constitution, his wars against business and energy, his abominably reckless spending, his divisiveness, his renegade Justice Department, his regulatory expansion, his executive orders, his overall lawlessness, and more. Obama´s conduct concerning Obamacare alone would be enough to get the impeachment wheels rolling for any other president. His flagrant, deliberate lies regarding almost every aspect of that

Coming clearly through the throbbing of helicopters and the roar of the SUVS of the feds harassing the Cliven Bundy Ranch, patriots there for Bundy should “tell it to the judge”. There is mainstream media-suppressed case history in Nevada the feds are desperately trying to keep under wraps. Chief Judge Robert C. Jones of the Federal District Court of Nevada smacked down high-handed, abusive feds, sending the pretend cowboys riding roughshod over Western ranchers and property owners back to their cobweb-laced offices in 2013. In spite of their 200 armed snipers with boy toys in tow, those Stetson-wearing feds hunkering down on Cliven
