WASHINGTON— President Barack Obama has canceled two stops on his long-planned trip to Asia because of the partial government shutdown, the White House announced Wednesday. Obama is scheduled to leave Saturday night on what originally was a four-nation tour. But the White House has called off the final two stops in Malaysia and the Philippines and is re-evaluating the stops in Indonesia and Brunei, where Obama is to participate in regional economic forums. "We intend to have the president...make that trip because it is important," White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday. "We´ll obviously evaluate this as each day

It is vital that the President get back in touch with his Muzzie roots. We can all understand that, can´t we?

If Obama actually is dumb enough to go on this trip IF the government is still shutdown, he will face the biggest backlash of either term as President. Can you even imagine the visuals? President boarding AF one, waving and flying off when the country is shutdown? It´s a PR Nightmare! Please...do it!

Nice touch AP. (FTA) ...because of the partial government shutdown... For three days you´ve been all about "Extremist Republicans starve children and add gridlock to D.C. with SHUTDOWN 2013!" But because Obama cuts a sliver of pork from yet another vacation it´s only a "partial" shutdown.

President Barack Obama rallied Senate Democrats behind his election-year agenda on Wednesday, even privately urging senators to “keep your powder dry” on his push to expand international trade despite the strong opposition from many leading Democrats, according to several people at the closed-door session. At a roughly two-hour meeting at Nationals Park, Obama repeatedly emphasized his goal to keep the Senate in Democratic control in the 2014 midterms, promising to do whatever he can to help his party stay in the majority, attendees said. He noted that his agenda stands a better chance of advancing if a majority of the

America long ago lost her will to live. Historically, trespassing into another people´s territory could bring violence. And nations the world over secure their borders, sometimes at the end of a gun fondled by an itchy finger. But not the US. We place water stations in the Arizona desert for thirsty trespassers, offer driver´s licenses and in-state tuition for them, and now a Supreme Court justice has opined that calling illegal migrants "criminals" is insulting. I don´t know, what do you call someone who broke the law? "Legally challenged"? But it´s even worse than that. About 20 years ago Japan

WASHINGTON— Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel wants military leaders to inject more urgency into ensuring "moral character and moral courage" in a force suffering a rash of ethical lapses. Hagel has been worried by a string of scandals that has produced a wave of unwelcome publicity for the military. But in light of new disclosures this week, including the announcement of alleged cheating among senior sailors in the nuclear Navy, Hagel on Wednesday demanded a fuller accounting of the depth of the problem. Last month the Air Force revealed it was investigating widespread cheating on proficiency tests among nuclear missile launch

(Video) Jakarta, Indonesia- Search and recovery teams have again halted their perilous task of looking for victims from the recent volcanic eruptions of Indonesia´s Mount Sinabung, disaster officials said. The death toll currently stands at 15 after plumes of ash spewed more than a mile into the sky Saturday and descended in superheated clouds. Scalding ash up to 700 degrees in temperature raced down the slope in just two to three minutes, engulfing Sukameriah, a village close to the volcano´s crater. A funnel of smoke, visible from kilometers away, has continued to shoot up from the North Sumatra mountain, turning

That is mostly a good thing, a liberating result of the law. Of course, Republicans immediately tried to brand the findings as “devastating” and stark evidence of President Obama’s health care reform as a failure and a job killer. It is no such thing. The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, became law almost four years ago. It became operational last Oct. 1. Yesterday, Feb. 4, 2014, the ACA may well have been dealt its death blow. The Congressional Budget Office released a major study of the government’s budget and its effect on the overall economy over the next 10 years. In dull bureaucratic language, it delivers a devastating analysis of the inefficiencies, ineffectualities and problematic social costs of ObamaCare. The one-two punch: Virtually as many Americans will lack health coverage in 10 years as before the law was passed — but 2 million fewer

President Obama, outlining his push Tuesday to bring high-speed Internet access to more U.S. schools, said Americans should demand the same level of technology in learning facilities as they do in coffee shops. “In a country where we expect free Wi-Fi with our coffee, we should definitely demand it in our schools,” Obama said in Adelphi, Md., highlighting $750 million in new commitments from private companies to put digital learning labs in schools. Under his plan, the Federal Communications Commission will also spend $2 billion to connect 20 million students to wireless technologies.
