Shutdown overreach: More guards

Park Service closes park it doesn´t run

Washington Examiner, by Paul Bedard

Original Article

The National Park Service is sending so many officials out to shut down federal parks from visiting Americans that at this rate it might have to suspend furloughs if the government closure continues. Two examples: -- At the World War II Memorial on The Mall in Washington, where veterans have been staging protests to keep it open, Washington Examiner´s Charlie Spiering reports that at least seven officials were dispatched Wednesday morning to set up a ring of barricades to block tourists from the memorial. That is two more security officials than the State Department had in Benghazi a year ago on the

This is obama wee-weeing all over America because he has his nose out of joint. What a petty, dispicable man. The headline says it all: "MORE guards to keep Americans from their memorials than protecting American lives in Benghazi". What a jerk.

So the NPS can basically violate their lease with the privately-run park and close it down at their whim?

Perhaps visitors to the park need to tell the NPS Goon Squad they are there to do business with the privately-run park foundation.

And maybe a friendly Republican lawyer needs to get a TRO against the NPS for violating the terms of the lease of the property, since it sounds like the park foundation does all the upkeep and such.

So, the federal government begins a war of pettiness and spite against the citizens who fund it. At least they have a strong sense of their highest qualities (being petty, being spiteful).

I suspect a taxpayer revolt would improve their perspective on all of this.

Another large group of WWII Veterans & their families is in flight right now from KC to visit the Wash. D.C. National Memorials on a pre-planned trip. It is preposterous to think ANY American citizen would presume to stop these authentic heroes who have served our Liberty so faithfully.

The bizarre and expensive lengths 0bama & his dem Administration are going to in order to insult this country is preposterous.

It´s very expensive to run those facilities.
We can´t have that.

In construction work years ago, we had a standing joke that said when a new hire signed in he would be issued a draw string bag full of marbles. Every time he made a mistake a marble was taken from the bag. When he had lost all his marbles, he was to be promoted to foreman.

Barack Hussein Obama, or what ever his real name is, has not only lost all his marbles, he has even lost the bag they were in.

It is a rare event indeed, when the citizenry of a powerful nation are witnesses to a supreme leader going certifiably insane before their eyes. The last time this happened might be during the progression of the Second World War.

It´s debatable, maybe, whether it;s "Howdy Doody Time" yet, but it certainly is 25th amendment time. In fact, it´s probably past due already.

The Flight 93 Memorial, about an hour from here, is closed, according to our local paper. We took some out-of-town relatives to visit it last week and I noticed that the vast majority of the funding for the Memorial is from state (PA), local and especially private funds. The federal government provided a small amount (don´t recall the number, but I think it was under 20% of the monies) for the memorial. That is why it was the last 911 memorial to be worked on (still not complete though). It also gets more visitors than the one at the pentagon. I saw only one park service person there, giving a short scheduled lecture every couple hours. There are enough information placards around that the lecturer could just go home, with no serious loss.

With the world’s attention focused on Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, a retired El Al pilot, a veteran of five armed hijacking attempts and plots, including one movie-worthy standoff at 29,000 feet, splashed some local brandy into his afternoon tea. “When you don’t know, you just don’t know,” Uri Bar-Lev said of the fate of the airliner, speaking two weeks after it dropped off the radar. Then, while he was folding the Hebrew paper, which was splayed open to the MH370 story of the day, came an endearingly familiar routine, the ritual dance performed by so many Israelis of Bar-Lev’s 1948

It’s 1 World Trade Center like it’s never been seen before — through a helmet camera worn by one of three skydivers who jumped from the top of the skyscraper in September. The footage, posted to YouTube, is breathtaking — and maybe even a little too much to handle if one is afraid of heights. The skydiver, former WTC ironworker James Brady, first waits for one of his high-flying companions to jump. Then he too plummets toward the street, and the camera provides a remarkable perspective of the 1,776-foot-tall tower and the city lights. The daredevil then pulls the cord

Republicans are still determined to repeal Obamacare, even though they have famously failed to unite behind an alternative. Now, it is dawning on some in the GOP that even if they succeed in repealing the Affordable Care Act, and even if they pass an alternative, they will still have to come up with a plan to get from here to there. Right now, they don´t have one. What is different about Republican calls for repeal today -- as opposed to calls for repeal from 2010 to the end of 2013 -- is that Obamacare is now in place. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,
