The status quo falls apart when people discover, first to their surprise, then to their glee, that it’s lost its teeth. The presidency of Barack Obama appears to be unraveling — whether the yarn will be pulled out to the last inch remains to be seen, but a lot of it is already coiled on the floor. First the UK parliament, then both parties of Congress balked at his Syrian policy. Then Putin humiliated him so badly internationally that he retreated to the safety of domestic policy. But while resting between rounds he was immediately beset by his own cornerpeople.
Comments: Even by Wretchard´s high standards, this essay is one of his finest. Just read it!
FTA: Cruz is betting that even the man on the street is beginning to notice. It’s one thing to cut no ice with leaders around the world. One might even forgive making a mess of the economy and using the IRS to spy on people. But fake Twitter accounts? A line’s got to be drawn somewhere.
This essay is just wicked good. The saddest fact is that after Obama has finished downsizing the office he occupies, his successors will be stepping into his shrunken ballerina´s toe shoes (which were Brobdingnagian after Reagan´s two terms). Not even Blackbeard the Pirate, who was not above switching right and left boots, had feet that ached so much as those of Obama´s successors. Let´s hope the next three plus years pass with merciful speed lest we be permanently screwed.
Cruz has got his own style and that´s become ultra-important in our modern media-driven national politics. He says much I agree with. I think his Seuss´ Green Eggs & Ham recitation was a small misstep, however, if only because it gave some ammunition to the opposition to ridicule him. But overall, it´s good to experience his fresh energy on our side.
All well and good. But never underestimate the powers of Hussein´s recuperation if he falls back to his old standby of giving out yet more free stuff at others´ expense, in the cause of "fairness". This demagogue has an inexhaustable supply of ways to accomplish confiscation of workers´ and entrepreneurs´ earnings for "social justice" (i.e.: for the purpose of bribing democrat support). The only way to stop Dracula was with a silver stake. Ya think that stake exists today? Does Cruz have it? Even if Hussein could be stopped it does not eliminate the perverted mentality rampant in America that if someone works hard and becomes successful, that they thereby OWE YOU something. This sickness is carefully cultivated by progressives, keeps them in power, and is very hard to cure.
I too sense “something in the air”. Timing is everything. Its high tide and the U.S.S. Constitution is set to sail.
I just heard Michele Bachmann on Mark’s show. She’s urging the House “leadership” to recognize the “tee up” Cruz gave them and to follow his lead telling the American public the truth. They control the House and can easily present the same coherent and cogent facts using his method of “telling the story”. With their majority number of representatives they can keep it up all night and try to top the esteemed Senator’s 21 hours, 20 minutes. The “progressives” have trained the public well to respond to stories. Everyone has an Obamacare scare story. Everyone is afraid. It will resonate across all demographic lines. Use the socialists’ tool against them.
My favorite Ted moment was in the wee hours of the morning when he quoted from “Atlas Shrugged”. Who is John Galt?
I did read the article and agree with its content. However, regarding Senator Cruz, instead of being driven by pure political ambition, I believe he could actually be concerned about the direction the country is going and his actions are the direct result of a Republican Party´s failure to lead. Sen. Cruz is a man of principle. The Constitution means something to him and he decided to stand up to the tyranny of the Obama administration. Not everyone in Washington DC are obsessed with power. There are a few men and women who hold allegiance to this country and its founding principles. Hopefully, Sen. Cruz will help them find their voice. We the people need representation. God bless him and all those that stand with him.
Great read except i do not find him diminshed or diminshing the office notafter 900+ executive orders. He is a tyrant but his tyranny is quiet so no one will notice it, but read his exec. orders and prepare to be insulted and PO´d. And why doesnt COngress stop his lawlessness? He cannot change legislation, he is executive branch for him to make waivers and delays in Obamacare is NOT LEGAL--it is stealing power from the legizlative branch, why dont they do something?
Great piece, but I don´t accept the notion that there was any status quo to begin with. The Fauxbama administration has been a shape-shifting miasma of contradictions and lies. How do you know who they are when they declare, explicitly, that they will pick and choose which laws to enforce and which parts of laws to overlook? This is simple tyranny and if the perpetrators of it were white the LSM might have noticed earlier.
Bush´s presidency was unraveling at this point in his second term as well. His polls then (Fall, 2005) were lower than Obama´s now. Unfortunately, he finished his term taking the GOP with him in 2006 and giving us this idiot in 2008. My sincere hope is that Obama follow suit: taking the Dem party with him and give us a conservative (NOT a neoconservative idiot like Bush) president in 2016.
Democrat, Liberal, Progressive, Socialist and so-on and so-forth. A Communist by any other name is still a Communist. No matter how much and how often you sugar-coat him, Mystery Man Out Of Nowhere Barack Hussein Obama, if that’s even his real name, is still a Communist.
P.S. If Ted Cruz is a waste of time, Harry Reid is a waste of oxygen.
One might even forgive making a mess of the economy and using the IRS to spy on people. But fake Twitter accounts? A line’s got to be drawn somewhere.
It is noteworthy that once again, Rush Limbaugh predicted that it would be something in the pop culture, not politics, that would bring Obama down. Fernandez, while enumerating the political disasters Obama has created and endured, does notice that when you diss Twitter, you´re really in trouble.
Whomever decided that millions of fake Twitts was a good idea for Obama (Valerie Jarrett?) underestimated the amount of blood in the waters of this Presidency.
Sen. Cruz has two beautiful little daughters..the Green Eggs and Ham book was read at 8pm, which is their bedtime and my guess is that it is a family ritual. He couldn´t tuck them in that night, but he could still read them their bedtime story. BRAVO !

Barry-O has put himself in a permanent seat, grinning, over the dunk tank. For the remainder of his reign, anyone and everyone will be in line to pitch at his over-sized target and jump with glee as Barry takes one splashy dunk after another.
Fernandez is correct, NOW is the time. Ted Cruz is part of the beginning of the revolution. We have three branches of government, Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Is there any doubt out there that they have not all been corrupted? We can not expect one to tame the other because they are all in it together. It all must be rebuilt from the ashes.
Next week starts the attempted forcing of obamacare on US citizens. We will see just how popular it is, how well the brainwashing worked and how much obama´s lies are believed. I can easily see it falling on its face and the entire government with it. A little help from us will go a long way.
One thing that strikes me about the Bamster imploding is that more and more there is evidence that he was most definitely cheated into the White House the second term. Scandal after scandal shows this: Lois Lerner had to cheat the Tea Party for him. Major swing states had massive PROVEN voter fraud. Hillary and Susan Rice covered up Benghazi for him right before. The vile media did not question his weakness and weirdness while crucifying the good man Romney. The dimbos covered all their bases to ensure their false god would slide in again in spite of all odds.
And the pathetic fools still protect him as if he is legit? Boggles the mind how blind people can be.
We are currently living in the dark ages of this country. We need a renaissance, a new burst of freedom to push aside the evil leftists that have taken over this country. I hope it can be done with ideas and votes but fear it will probably take and armed rebellion to get rid of all the parasites.
We will have 3-1/2 more years of waiting for the other shoe to drop, and drop it will. The United States is now seen on the world stage as that weakened lion. The jackals will take advantage. The resurgence of al-Qaeda is example one. These are dangerous times. I suggest Congress and the Pentagon not weaken the lion further. At least not right now with this CIC.
This was inevitable but unfortunately took much longer than it should have. Obama´s lofty speeches followed by executive actions repeatedly resulting in loss of liberty, destruction of the economy and outright embarrassment to the United States didn´t really resonate with Obama supporters until the rest of the world turned the backs on him in disgust.
This young TA´s letter included here is phenomenal . His letter is beyond brave considering the current climate at 90% of today´s universities. Three brave men so far. A TA, a Dr. and a Senator. Can we add a few more from Congress please ? Stand up for America please. It is being destroyed by and Communist character who resembles Peter Pan´s little friend Tink and who lets a snake from Iran beat and humiliate him.
As you rightly point out this is obviously an significant family ritual, more than likely never missed. His little girls may have some understanding that he’s doing “Daddy work”, but to small children the rituals of family life are their touchstones of security. They will never forget that while their Daddy was engaged in a heroic effort, he to the time to read them their bedtime story.
By this deliberate action Senator Cruz taught his girls the primacy of family over work, even very important work. This value lesson will resonate deep within these girls and flower in the years to come. I doubt we will see the Cruz girls comport themselves like Miley Cyrus or Lindsey Lohan.
Ted Cruz is the real deal and wears the armor of God.
(Please forgive second post. My first was after reading the article just before bed and went with my initial excitement.)
Face it, any American voter with a pinch of common sense knew that Obama was a Socialist fraud just by looking at his non record. The record that was hidden from public view. That is what Democrats thought about him and they kept it from the American public.
The GOP/RNC then gave us John McCain who has the personality of an incompetent Gang member. Conservatives knew that Obama was poison, so they voted for the Republican slate as usual. Sarah Palin made that vote much easier to stomach.
Well here we are into the Marxists second term. McCain is still around forming Gangs to add 20 million more Democrat votes to their voting base. Obama is a complete failure or winner in destroying this country depending upon your point of view.
My view is that he is a complete incompetent who is guided by Marxist dogma. That is all he is and lately we have seen petty dictators eat his lunch at every turn. The USA is now the laughing stock of the whole world.
I back Ted Cruz´s effort to defund and destroy Obamacare. After he has finished that, I wish he would tackle Impeachment, something the rest of the wimps in the leaderless House won´t touch.
NOW is the time for Ted to go on the offensive, something good Mitt simply could not handle, go on the offensive, BE the spkesman now, criticize all the monster grocery list of horrifying acts of the imposter, take sides with Mark Levin, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Michelle Malkin, Sarah Palin, Mark Steyn, James D Manning, Forbes, even Donald Trump when he opens up every few months. "Cruz Control" is his unique way of opening up the world to truth and pointing daily to all the gross errors, the 50 damn czars, the 900 plus executive orders nobody know about, the many multi million dollars vacations, using the planes like tax cabs. Cruz can, single handedly, take all the fabulous crimes information out there and become the unifying elected leader and the unifying thanks giving reporter to all the other hard working, truth seeking reporters who are delivering the truth to all America. You´re ON, Ted !
There is something in the air - the odor of McCain & Friends´ flop sweat. While they play drop the soap with the Democrats, people like Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Trey Gowdy and Ben Carson are getting the attention the appeasers once did. And they´re saying - C´mon in! The water is great!
I smell a rat or rats. somehow Obama will be offered a world Rule Job like UN Secretary General and Ban Kay Moon will leave to spend time with his family. And somehow Hillary will become Vice President and then move up to be President when Obama become UN chief. Switching candidates around is a Donk specialty.
If he´d read the Unaffordable Health Don´tCare Act he´d still be reading. I like Ted Cruz and Paul Rand but all this stuff about Zippy going down is flames is just wishful thinking. He´s still there. He has more lasting power than Herpes. The problem is changing demographics. The bums now outnumber the workers. And they want a government that takes from the productive and gives to the slugs. Our only hope is they are all stoned on election day.
If we can afford several million dollars to have Air Force fly Barry and Michelle to NY for a show, fetch deep dish Pizza from Chicago or fly Bo the Marxist Mutt, Michelle and our great leader separately to Martha´s Vineyard, then we can afford to pay for lighting the Senate Chamber for 3 minutes while Senator Cruz tells his children a bedtime story.
How funny that fake Twitter followers is the layer of the onion that finally, hopefully, exposes this fraud to the American public´s collective Bronx cheer. The ´signal´ that it is now OK to ´disrespect´ this fraud. Did I mention that I think the man with no resume and known by what name is a F-R-A-U-D?
Kudos to the TA´s letter to UW-Madison. The time really is NOW for all of us to defy at various levels in the course of our daily lives. Just Say No. Sen. Cruz just took to the the floor of the Senate and said NO. NO to Obamacare. NO to DC. And NO to the old-line Republicans.
The presidency of Barack Obama appears to be unraveling. Whether the yarn will be pulled out to the last inch remains to be seen, but a lot of it is already coiled on the floor.
Are you freaking kidding me? Obamacare a law that is NOT going away EVER, open homosexuals in the military, legal pot, 85 BILLION dollars printed every month with QE infinity, 200 plus trillion in actual debt, the GOP falling down, rolling over and soiling themselves (and now soiling fellow Republicans) every single time BOO is whispered in their ears, own and own and own and Obama´s presidency is unraveling? Yo, Fern, IT´S JUST GETTING STARTED Skippy and there´s three more years of Alinsky Xanadu to go. What the hell planet are you on? Unravelling? Please.
In the main I agree with #41´s sentiments. I have read articles such as this both before and after the re-election more times than I care to remember. And after each of these zippy "death notices" so many do somersaults of glee as though something new and wonderful is about to happen. He will never be impeached by cowardly pubs nor convicted by socialist dems so every crisis we face continues regardless of public opinion. Where I would differ is that I never think in absolutes; there is always a chance for a slow reversal of all that is wrong with this great country if we refuse to quit. I believe we have found a leader in Sen. Cruz this week and I suggest we all stand beside him.
FTA: "Cruz has trod on center stage and shouted the politically unsayable, probably having made the calculation that if there were a moment to defy Obama, that time was now."
Ted Cruz is not afraid because the truth is on his side. I´ll also bet 0bama has never been challenged by the likes of Cruz.
Last evening Mark Levin just came out and said he believes 0bama is unstable ("in full nutjob mode", "threatening"). Throughout the program he continually referred to 0bama as "our unstable President". My husband has also been saying the same thing. You only need to watch 0bama, his eyes, his gestures, his wild accusations and pathological lying, much like watching footage of Hitler. My husband is convinced that he´s going to snap.
My number one short term target is Harry Reid. We need only 5 more senators to take rule making power away. He got a bill from the House funding government for a short while and defunding Obamacare. Once cloture passes, he will increase the dollars and fund Obamacare. And be smug and nasty at the same time.
#45, I agree we badly need to regain control over the Senate in the 2014 midterms, while of course still holding the House.
It´s possible that the best way to fire up the base and give our side hope that we can turn things around is to proceed with Cruz and company in defunding KommieKare and letting the shutdown occur.
People will show up to vote if they have an incentive... they won´t if they don´t. The best way to provide strong incentive is to take action... do something... to fight this bad actor in the White Hutt.
Cruz is really firing up the troops... and the whiners in Washington hate it. That´s great!
We´re told to pray for our enemies: my prayer for Obama is that he is at least HALF as miserable in the job as I am miserable to have him there. I hope it itches so bad he can´t even sit down--much less sleep.
The people in charge of the Obamacare rollout have may their difficult position even worse. The root of the latest self-inflicted catastrophe is their determination to forge ahead with an flawed product by simply papering over the cracks. These bands aids eventually come off and they find themselves worse off than before. Having attained the dubious achievement of canceling millions of policies in America, including practically all the health care insurance in Guam without providing a working replacement system, the administration has decided to temporarily allow people to buy the “bare-bones” insurance policies formerly allowed only to people under 30.
Scientists are working to develop new strategies to combat the growing threat of germs that current antibiotics can´t fight. Some researchers are testing new substances, such as silver, to combine with antibiotics to boost their killing power. Other researchers are making use of genetic sequencing of bacteria to help develop killer drugs at a faster pace than medical science was capable of in the past. Another strategy aims to render harmful bacteria incapable of infecting people, rather than killing the germs outright. One such technique would neutralize disease-causing toxins by disrupting the bacteria´s internal mechanisms.
Roger Waters, formerly of 1970s rock giant Pink Floyd, told Counterpunch Magazine in an interview earlier this month that he maintains a cultural boycott of Israel because of their government’s “ethnic cleansing” and is a “racist apartheid ... regime.” Waters is a big proponent for pro-Palestinian causes. The man best known for Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall spoke last year at the United Nations General Assembly as Palestinians won recognition from the world body as a non-observer state. In an interview printed Dec. 6, Waters spoke with Frank Barat of Counterpunch magazine about his latest tour and
Some days bring up an assortment of news that can only be called a snapshot of the times. No common thread runs through them except a kind of spirit of the age. It’s a day in the life, bringing both good and bad. The first snippet is news that the fake sign language interpreter present at the Mandela funeral was once part of a group that burned people to death. “They told The Associated Press that the group placed tires around the men’s necks and set them ablaze. Unlike two other suspects who went to trial in 2006 for the
Boxing finished the year with a bout for the ages on Saturday, when Marcos Maidana wrested the WBA welterweight title from the previously undefeated Adrian Broner at the Alamodome in San Antonio. The 24-year-old Broner (27-1), a brash, consummate fighter who has modeled both his life and boxing styles on Floyd "Money" Mayweather, entered the bout as the heavy favorite, but found himself on the canvas twice before losing a unanimous decision. Maidana, the 30-year-old Argentine, landed 231 of 663 power punches in the upset, improving his record to 35-3. More than a just captivating contest, Saturday´s fight made it
Los Angeles -- Tom Laughlin, the actor who wrote and starred in the "Billy Jack" films of the 1970s, died Thursday, his family confirmed Sunday. He was 82. Laughlin´s Billy Jack character was a heroic Native American ex-Army Green Beret who used his karate skills to fight racism and oppression. The second of the series -- titled "Billy Jack" -- was a low-budget independent film that became a box-office blockbuster in 1971. Laughlin´s vigilante character defends a counterculture "Freedom School" from townspeople who harass and discriminate against the Native American students. The film was criticized by those who saw its central
Professionals, artists and intellectuals in New York City, after years of struggling to obtain favorable terms from the health insurance industry, now find their efforts negated by Obamacare. They’ve been canceled by Obama. (Snip) “Ms. Meinwald, the lawyer, said she was a lifelong Democrat who still supported better health care for all, but had she known what was in store for her, she would have voted for Mitt Romney.” Had she but known? But she must have known. People at this level of talent must have suspected the reality from the first though some part of their psychology prevented them from
The Associated Press describes a new problem in Obama’s America. Wealth is once again threatening to rear its ugly head. You may not realize it, but there’s a danger that as many as one in five Americans may get rich sometime in their lifetimes. (Snip) During the 2008 presidential campaign Barack Obama had a conversational encounter with Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, who became known as “Joe the Plumber” that captured the dilemma. When Joe the Plumber declared his desire to earn $250,000 a year Obama replied: "It’s not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure
Seymour Hersh’s expose in the London Review of Books, which the Washington Post allegedly refused to publish accuses Barack Obama of lying about the Syrian chemical weapons attack which nearly triggered a US attack on Assad. Hersh makes two key assertions: First, Obama retroactively cooked up the narrative that the Assad regime was responsible for the infamous sarin attack on civilians in Eastern Ghouta. Second, that the rebel al-Nusra Front, a jihadi faction of the rebel alliance, might plausibly have been the real culprits. Seymour Hersh’s expose in the London Review of Books, which the Washington Post allegedly refused to
"What´s celebrity sex, Dad?" It was my 7-year-old son, who had been looking over my shoulder at my computer screen. He mispronounced "celebrity" but spoke the word "sex" as if he had been using it all his life. "Celebrity six," I said, abruptly closing my AOL screen. "It´s a game famous people play in teams of three," I said, as I ushered him out of my office and downstairs into what I assumed was the safety of the living room. No such luck. His 3-year-old sister had gotten her precocious little hands on my wife´s iPhone as it was charging
Charles Krauthammer reminds a dazed American public that the Obama administration is facing not just one, but three simultaneous foreign policy challenges. (Snip) Part of the problem with the administration is that it can’t clear a backlog. Past crises don’t get solved. They get forgotten. Overwritten by the fresh news cycle. The Washington Post reminds its readers that, as we near 2014, the capture of the 2012 Benghazi consulate attackers has stalled. "U.S. officials say efforts have stalled to capture about a dozen people secretly charged in the 2012 attack on the American compound in Benghazi that claimed the lives
A topless woman sprinted through a Kohl´s department store to nab the Peeping Tom who allegedly shot video of her trying on bras in the dressing room. "I just screamed and chased him topless through the store," Jeanne Ouelette told KCTV. "I know I shouldn´t be chasing someone ... I was just enraged. I was at a store in a very private place, and I was enraged and I wanted to get the phone." A topless woman sprinted through a Kohl´s department store to nab the Peeping Tom who allegedly shot video of her trying on bras in the dressing
Is this man simply expressing his beliefs or spewing bigotry?Either way, Phil Robertson, the patriarch in A&E´s "Duck Dynasty," won´t be duck calling on air anytime soon. The network suspended him after slamming gays in a magazine interview. In the January issue of GQ, Robertson said homosexuality is a sin and puts it in the same category as bestiality and promiscuity. "It seems like, to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man´s anus. That´s just me. I´m just thinking: There´s more there! She´s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was hospitalized early Friday morning as a “precaution” after feeling ill, a spokesman said, adding that doctors concluded "everything is normal" after testing. “Early this morning, Senator Reid was not feeling well and as a precaution decided to go to the hospital. Tests have been conducted and everything is normal. He is alert, resting and feeling better,” spokesman Adam Jentleson said in a statement. "Doctors have asked that he remain in the hospital for observation so he will not be working today." The Senate is set to finish its business for the year on Friday.
For a few hours, it looked like Americans would quietly accept the suspension of popular “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson for his unfiltered opinions about sin, sex, gays and blacks in a magazine interview. But then, as if on cue, hundreds of thousands of fans of the openly Christian, duck-hunting businessman took to social networks and started their backlash. As of Thursday night, more than 1.1 million people “liked” the “Stand With Phil Robertson” Facebook page, while about the same number had clicked their support for another Facebook page called “Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson Is Put Back On Duck
The suspension of Phil Robertson from A&E’s Duck Dynasty is outrageous in a nation that values freedom, according to social critic and openly gay, dissident feminist Camille Paglia. “I speak with authority here, because I was openly gay before the ‘Stonewall rebellion,’ when it cost you something to be so. And I personally feel as a libertarian that people have the right to free thought and free speech,” Paglia, a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, said on Laura Ingraham’s radio show Thursday. “In a democratic country, people have the right to be homophobic as well as they have
The Obama administration Thursday night significantly relaxed the rules of the health-care law for millions of consumers whose individual insurance policies have been canceled, saying they could buy bare-bones health plans or entirely avoid the requirement that most Americans have health insurance. The surprise announcement, four days before the Dec. 23 deadline for people to choose coverage that begins on Jan. 1, triggered an immediate backlash from the health insurance industry and raised new fairness questions about a law intended to promote affordable and comprehensive coverage. “This type of last-minute change will cause tremendous instability in the marketplace and lead
Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano has announced he is gay. Boitano´s personal news comes two days after the figure skater was named to the official United States 2014 Sochi Olympics delegation by President Obama. "While I am proud to play a public role in representing the American Olympic Delegation as a former Olympic athlete, I have always reserved my private life for my family and friends and will continue to do so," Boitano, 50, said in an official statement. (Snip) Boitano joins tennis player Billie Jean King and Olympic ice hockey bronze medalist Caitlin Cahow as the third openly gay athlete
The A&E Network’s suspension of Phil Robertson, star of the most popular reality show in the history of television, for espousing views on homosexuality identical to those found in the New Testament may not be the first PC lynching in the history of our country, but it is certainly now the most prominent. It is also a singular example of how political correctness, via cultural relativism, is used to undermine democracy and freedom of speech and is, at its core, fascistic. Yes, I just used the f-word and quite deliberately. PC and cultural relativism are the godchildren of Martin Heidegger
At 9:30 a.m. on December 19th, CNN´s Piers Morgan tweeted that the First Amendment "shouldn´t protect vile bigots" like Phil Robertson. And while making this claim, Morgan also reiterated his position that the Second Amendment "shouldn´t protect assault rifle devotees." Twitchy.com posted Morgan´s tweet, as well as one he sent six minutes earlier in he which typed, "Phil Robertson is not a ´victim of political correctness.´ He´s a victim of his own repulsively racist, homophobic bigotry." When defenders of Robertson´s right to speak his mind took to Twitter to tell Morgan how the First Amendment works, Morgan hedged himself in by tweeting, "Calm
It’s not unusual for President Obama to tweet out messages in support of his signature health care law, but a photo attached to one online missive is not getting the type of hype the White House had hoped for. The blogosphere and TV pundits are mocking the picture of a young “hipster”-type man in plaid pajamas and black-frame glasses who, while sipping a warm beverage, looks off camera with a slight grin. “Wear pajamas. Drink hot chocolate. Talk about getting health insurance,” the ad says. The photo got prominent play on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” eliciting laughter from its panel. “You are
Phil Robertson´s anti-gay comments aren´t the only part of his interview with GQ causing controversy. The 67-year-old "Duck Dynasty" star was suspended by A&E Wednesday for calling homosexuality sinful — and putting gay people in same category as terrorists. While those quotes quickly went viral, it wasn´t his only brow-raising statement in the interview; he also implied that African Americans were happier living under Jim Crow laws. "I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once," the reality star said of growing up in pre-Civil-Rights-era Louisiana. "Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked
This is the Obamacare Pajama boy in the latest Organizing for Action ad. Pajamacare boy is Ethan Krupp, an Organizing for Action employee and the subject of ridicule after OFA created a social ad encouraging everyone to sign up for Obamacare. Krupp was featured in the first "Get Talking" video, which was released by Organizing for Action in November. He thought that was pretty cool and said as much on Twitter.
America may be on the verge of a long-needed discussion over the limits of discourse on homosexual acts. Phil Robertson, patriarch of the family that stars in Duck Dynasty, the most popular program in the history of cable television, was interviewed by GQ Magazine, and was asked what in his mind is sinful: "Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there." (snip) Robertson spoke of homosexual behavior - i.e., acts. He took care not to characterize homosexuality per se as sinful. This is quite consistent with Christian doctrine of loving the sinner while hating the sin. That crucial point
