A toe in the waters of defiance
PJ Media, by Richard Fernandez

Original Article

Posted By:Hazymac, 9/25/2013 11:23:36 PM

The status quo falls apart when people discover, first to their surprise, then to their glee, that it’s lost its teeth. The presidency of Barack Obama appears to be unraveling — whether the yarn will be pulled out to the last inch remains to be seen, but a lot of it is already coiled on the floor. First the UK parliament, then both parties of Congress balked at his Syrian policy. Then Putin humiliated him so badly internationally that he retreated to the safety of domestic policy. But while resting between rounds he was immediately beset by his own cornerpeople.

FTA: Cruz is betting that even the man on the street is beginning to notice. It’s one thing to cut no ice with leaders around the world. One might even forgive making a mess of the economy and using the IRS to spy on people. But fake Twitter accounts? A line’s got to be drawn somewhere.

This essay is just wicked good. The saddest fact is that after Obama has finished downsizing the office he occupies, his successors will be stepping into his shrunken ballerina´s toe shoes (which were Brobdingnagian after Reagan´s two terms). Not even Blackbeard the Pirate, who was not above switching right and left boots, had feet that ached so much as those of Obama´s successors. Let´s hope the next three plus years pass with merciful speed lest we be permanently screwed.

The destruction of the Obama presidency and the neutering of his Administration may just be the highest priority this nation faces, if it is to survive. Everything else can be fixed.

Cruz has got his own style and that´s become ultra-important in our modern media-driven national politics. He says much I agree with. I think his Seuss´ Green Eggs & Ham recitation was a small misstep, however, if only because it gave some ammunition to the opposition to ridicule him. But overall, it´s good to experience his fresh energy on our side.

All well and good. But never underestimate the powers of Hussein´s recuperation if he falls back to his old standby of giving out yet more free stuff at others´ expense, in the cause of "fairness". This demagogue has an inexhaustable supply of ways to accomplish confiscation of workers´ and entrepreneurs´ earnings for "social justice" (i.e.: for the purpose of bribing democrat support). The only way to stop Dracula was with a silver stake. Ya think that stake exists today? Does Cruz have it? Even if Hussein could be stopped it does not eliminate the perverted mentality rampant in America that if someone works hard and becomes successful, that they thereby OWE YOU something. This sickness is carefully cultivated by progressives, keeps them in power, and is very hard to cure.

I too sense “something in the air”. Timing is everything. Its high tide and the U.S.S. Constitution is set to sail.

I just heard Michele Bachmann on Mark’s show. She’s urging the House “leadership” to recognize the “tee up” Cruz gave them and to follow his lead telling the American public the truth. They control the House and can easily present the same coherent and cogent facts using his method of “telling the story”. With their majority number of representatives they can keep it up all night and try to top the esteemed Senator’s 21 hours, 20 minutes. The “progressives” have trained the public well to respond to stories. Everyone has an Obamacare scare story. Everyone is afraid. It will resonate across all demographic lines. Use the socialists’ tool against them.

My favorite Ted moment was in the wee hours of the morning when he quoted from “Atlas Shrugged”. Who is John Galt?

I did read the article and agree with its content. However, regarding Senator Cruz, instead of being driven by pure political ambition, I believe he could actually be concerned about the direction the country is going and his actions are the direct result of a Republican Party´s failure to lead. Sen. Cruz is a man of principle. The Constitution means something to him and he decided to stand up to the tyranny of the Obama administration. Not everyone in Washington DC are obsessed with power. There are a few men and women who hold allegiance to this country and its founding principles. Hopefully, Sen. Cruz will help them find their voice. We the people need representation. God bless him and all those that stand with him.

Great read except i do not find him diminshed or diminshing the office notafter 900+ executive orders. He is a tyrant but his tyranny is quiet so no one will notice it, but read his exec. orders and prepare to be insulted and PO´d. And why doesnt COngress stop his lawlessness? He cannot change legislation, he is executive branch for him to make waivers and delays in Obamacare is NOT LEGAL--it is stealing power from the legizlative branch, why dont they do something?

Great piece, but I don´t accept the notion that there was any status quo to begin with. The Fauxbama administration has been a shape-shifting miasma of contradictions and lies. How do you know who they are when they declare, explicitly, that they will pick and choose which laws to enforce and which parts of laws to overlook? This is simple tyranny and if the perpetrators of it were white the LSM might have noticed earlier.

Bush´s presidency was unraveling at this point in his second term as well. His polls then (Fall, 2005) were lower than Obama´s now. Unfortunately, he finished his term taking the GOP with him in 2006 and giving us this idiot in 2008. My sincere hope is that Obama follow suit: taking the Dem party with him and give us a conservative (NOT a neoconservative idiot like Bush) president in 2016.

Democrat, Liberal, Progressive, Socialist and so-on and so-forth. A Communist by any other name is still a Communist. No matter how much and how often you sugar-coat him, Mystery Man Out Of Nowhere Barack Hussein Obama, if that’s even his real name, is still a Communist.

P.S. If Ted Cruz is a waste of time, Harry Reid is a waste of oxygen.

Good piece.

One might even forgive making a mess of the economy and using the IRS to spy on people. But fake Twitter accounts? A line’s got to be drawn somewhere.

It is noteworthy that once again, Rush Limbaugh predicted that it would be something in the pop culture, not politics, that would bring Obama down. Fernandez, while enumerating the political disasters Obama has created and endured, does notice that when you diss Twitter, you´re really in trouble.

Whomever decided that millions of fake Twitts was a good idea for Obama (Valerie Jarrett?) underestimated the amount of blood in the waters of this Presidency.

Sen. Cruz has two beautiful little daughters..the Green Eggs and Ham book was read at 8pm, which is their bedtime and my guess is that it is a family ritual. He couldn´t tuck them in that night, but he could still read them their bedtime story.

Fernandez is correct, NOW is the time. Ted Cruz is part of the beginning of the revolution. We have three branches of government, Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Is there any doubt out there that they have not all been corrupted? We can not expect one to tame the other because they are all in it together. It all must be rebuilt from the ashes.

Next week starts the attempted forcing of obamacare on US citizens. We will see just how popular it is, how well the brainwashing worked and how much obama´s lies are believed. I can easily see it falling on its face and the entire government with it. A little help from us will go a long way.

One thing that strikes me about the Bamster imploding is that more and more there is evidence that he was most definitely cheated into the White House the second term. Scandal after scandal shows this: Lois Lerner had to cheat the Tea Party for him. Major swing states had massive PROVEN voter fraud. Hillary and Susan Rice covered up Benghazi for him right before. The vile media did not question his weakness and weirdness while crucifying the good man Romney. The dimbos covered all their bases to ensure their false god would slide in again in spite of all odds.

And the pathetic fools still protect him as if he is legit? Boggles the mind how blind people can be.

We are currently living in the dark ages of this country. We need a renaissance, a new burst of freedom to push aside the evil leftists that have taken over this country. I hope it can be done with ideas and votes but fear it will probably take and armed rebellion to get rid of all the parasites.

We will have 3-1/2 more years of waiting for the other shoe to drop, and drop it will. The United States is now seen on the world stage as that weakened lion. The jackals will take advantage. The resurgence of al-Qaeda is example one. These are dangerous times. I suggest Congress and the Pentagon not weaken the lion further. At least not right now with this CIC.

This was inevitable but unfortunately took much longer than it should have. Obama´s lofty speeches followed by executive actions repeatedly resulting in loss of liberty, destruction of the economy and outright embarrassment to the United States didn´t really resonate with Obama supporters until the rest of the world turned the backs on him in disgust.

#16 RE: Reading Green Eggs and Ham

As you rightly point out this is obviously an significant family ritual, more than likely never missed. His little girls may have some understanding that he’s doing “Daddy work”, but to small children the rituals of family life are their touchstones of security. They will never forget that while their Daddy was engaged in a heroic effort, he to the time to read them their bedtime story.

By this deliberate action Senator Cruz taught his girls the primacy of family over work, even very important work. This value lesson will resonate deep within these girls and flower in the years to come. I doubt we will see the Cruz girls comport themselves like Miley Cyrus or Lindsey Lohan.

Ted Cruz is the real deal and wears the armor of God.

Face it, any American voter with a pinch of common sense knew that Obama was a Socialist fraud just by looking at his non record. The record that was hidden from public view. That is what Democrats thought about him and they kept it from the American public.

The GOP/RNC then gave us John McCain who has the personality of an incompetent Gang member. Conservatives knew that Obama was poison, so they voted for the Republican slate as usual. Sarah Palin made that vote much easier to stomach.

Well here we are into the Marxists second term. McCain is still around forming Gangs to add 20 million more Democrat votes to their voting base. Obama is a complete failure or winner in destroying this country depending upon your point of view.

My view is that he is a complete incompetent who is guided by Marxist dogma. That is all he is and lately we have seen petty dictators eat his lunch at every turn. The USA is now the laughing stock of the whole world.

I back Ted Cruz´s effort to defund and destroy Obamacare. After he has finished that, I wish he would tackle Impeachment, something the rest of the wimps in the leaderless House won´t touch.

3) I loved the "I would not have Obamacare here or there, I would not have it anywhere".

5) After speaking for 21 hours and the most critical complaint is Green Eggs and Ham - well there you have it, Cruz knocked it out of the park!

NOW is the time for Ted to go on the offensive, something good Mitt simply could
not handle, go on the offensive, BE the spkesman now, criticize all the monster grocery list of horrifying acts of the imposter, take sides with Mark Levin, Judge
Andrew Napolitano, Michelle Malkin, Sarah Palin, Mark Steyn, James D Manning, Forbes, even Donald Trump when he opens up every few months. "Cruz Control" is his unique way of opening up the world to truth
and pointing daily to all the gross errors, the 50 damn czars, the 900 plus executive orders nobody know about, the many multi million dollars vacations, using the planes
like tax cabs. Cruz can, single handedly, take all the fabulous crimes information out there and become the unifying elected leader and the unifying thanks giving reporter to all the other hard working, truth seeking reporters who are delivering the truth to all America. You´re ON, Ted !

Are you freaking kidding me? Obamacare a law that is NOT going away EVER, open homosexuals in the military, legal pot, 85 BILLION dollars printed every month with QE infinity, 200 plus trillion in actual debt, the GOP falling down, rolling over and soiling themselves (and now soiling fellow Republicans) every single time BOO is whispered in their ears, own and own and own and Obama´s presidency is unraveling? In the main I agree with #41´s sentiments. I have read articles such as this both before and after the re-election more times than I care to remember. And after each of these zippy "death notices" so many do somersaults of glee as though something new and wonderful is about to happen. He will never be impeached by cowardly pubs nor convicted by socialist dems so every crisis we face continues regardless of public opinion. Where I would differ is that I never think in absolutes; there is always a chance for a slow reversal of all that is wrong with this great country if we refuse to quit. I believe we have found a leader in Sen. Cruz this week and I suggest we all stand beside him.

FTA: "Cruz has trod on center stage and shouted the politically unsayable, probably having made the calculation that if there were a moment to defy Obama, that time was now."

Ted Cruz is not afraid because the truth is on his side. I´ll also bet 0bama has never been challenged by the likes of Cruz.

Last evening Mark Levin just came out and said he believes 0bama is unstable ("in full nutjob mode", "threatening"). Throughout the program he continually referred to 0bama as "our unstable President". My husband has also been saying the same thing. You only need to watch 0bama, his eyes, his gestures, his wild accusations and pathological lying, much like watching footage of Hitler. My husband is convinced that he´s going to snap.

My number one short term target is Harry Reid. We need only 5 more senators to take rule making power away. He got a bill from the House funding government for a short while and defunding Obamacare. Once cloture passes, he will increase the dollars and fund Obamacare. And be smug and nasty at the same time.

#45, I agree we badly need to regain control over the Senate in the 2014 midterms,
while of course still holding the House.

It´s possible that the best way to fire up the base and give our side hope that we
can turn things around is to proceed with Cruz and company in defunding KommieKare
and letting the shutdown occur.

People will show up to vote if they have an incentive...
they won´t if they don´t.
The best way to provide strong incentive is to take action... do something...
to fight this bad actor in the White Hutt.

Cruz is really firing up the troops...
and the whiners in Washington hate it.
That´s great!

We´re told to pray for our enemies: my prayer for Obama is that he is at least HALF as miserable in the job as I am miserable to have him there. I hope it itches so bad he can´t even sit down--much less sleep.

You know things are bad when.....(delivered in Jeff Foxworthy´s best style)

...The majority of Americans are quietly rooting for Putin.

...The majority of Americans envy the Russians their Communist Dictator--at least he is for the Russians not the international community.

...The majority of Americans silently respect Putin for giving ´Bama a way out of the corner he painted himself into and

...A growing number of Americans would believe Pravda over the US MSM.

You know ´Bama is in trouble when even the MSM have started scratching their heads before taking up the stale, limp rag party line.

The danger in the Ukraine crisis was always that the Ukrainians — or some faction therein — would fight the Russians, escalating the crisis. Resistance from Obama was not in the cards. CNN quoted David Frum as saying that Obama had in effect gave Putin the “green light” to carve up Ukraine. Obama’s admirers think so too, though they put it differently. Ronan Farrow has advised the president to do nothing as Russia advances. “So, President Obama waiting and exercising caution isn’t necessarily sitting on his hands. It may be the caution that we need right now.” Farrow’s right. Obama’s

Just as the legal profession has its Latinisms and the sports world its slang, the art world has its own language and jargon that can often leave outsiders scratching their heads. This insider vocabulary includes terms that may seem a bit comical ("houseable," meaning the artwork fits in a normal-size living room) or contradictory (objects in a museum may be on "permanent loan," which is a loan no one has any intention of paying back, or donated as a "fractional gift," meaning the owner may keep possession of the piece while donating it in installments over time). Last week’s Supreme Court decision in McCutcheon v. FEC struck down federal limits on the total amount individuals can contribute to combinations of federal candidates and parties during a two-year election cycle. Predictably, it unleashed a wrath of criticism from labor unions. But a comparison of their rhetoric to reality shows a little introspection is warranted before they call the kettle black. In the hours after McCutcheon was announced, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka stated, “The Supreme Court made one of the most undemocratic and corrosive decisions in history with the Citizen’s United (sic) ruling. Today, it has dangerously broadened its

The right to destroy innocent unborn children, a moral and cultural poison injected into the American body politic in 1973 by the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, has led to evils like Kermit Gosnell, the monstrous “doctor” who bizarrely displayed the arms and legs of aborted babies in jars in his office. Recent news out of Britain stated that in more than two dozen government-run hospitals, aborted babies and miscarried fetal remains were burned in furnaces as medical waste without the knowledge of parents. The Telegraph reports that mothers were instead told that the remains had been cremated. At

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Malone was arrested early Saturday morning and faces charges of possession of cocaine and driving under the influence, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. Malone, 34, was arrested at 3:23 a.m. at Platt Street and Rome Avenue in Tampa, the HCSO arrest report said. A Tampa police officer stopped Malone after seeing his 2014 Chevrolet Suburban make a left turn from a center lane of South Armenia Avenue onto Platt Street and then strike the curb at South Howard Avenue, police said. When Malone exited the vehicle, the officer smelled alcohol on his breath,

A Lake Wales hunter says he was attacked by a Florida panther while he was calling turkeys near Lake Kissimmee in Central Florida. If true, it would be the first recorded panther attack on a human since the 1800s. Unfortunately, say state biologists, the hunter waited three weeks to report it. That means they cannot verify that it occurred. His wounds are nearly healed, and rain that has fallen since the attack has obscured any paw prints the animal may have left behind. Still, Byron Maharrey is sure about what pounced on him from behind and left him scratched and

The son of longtime PGA Tour player Jay Haas broke 70 for the first time in five Augusta National appearances. The 31-year-old American started the tournament with a bogey, but bounced back to knock in six birdies on a warm, sunny day when only three other players got into the 60s. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson says the White House wanted him to apologize for “offending” President Obama after he famously delivered a conservative message at the National Prayer Breakfast last year. Carson, the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, recalls the events surrounding his 2013 speech in his new book, One Nation: What We Can All Do To Save America’s Future. The Daily Caller obtained an advance copy of the book, which is set for release May 20. “He did not appear to be hostile or angry,” Carson writes of Obama, “but within a matter of minutes after the conclusion of

President Obama inspired a generation of young people to support his historic election in 2008. And in 2012, despite the struggles of his first term, Mr. Obama still managed to win the support of a full 60% of voters age 18-29. But the man who once dreamed of being a transformative leader in the Reagan mold is inspiring few of those young people to follow his lead. "For all the talk about the movement that elected Mr. Obama, the more notable movement of Obama supporters has been away from politics. It appears that few of the young people who voted

Since then, I have continued to study the facts and have drawn some conclusions. Here they are. First, it must be admitted that legally, Bundy doesn’t have a leg to stand on. The Bureau of Land Management has been charging him grazing fees since the early 1990s, which he has refused to pay. Further, BLM has issued orders limiting the area on which Bundy’s cows can

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

Indeed Kelly all but genuflected in front of this woman. Kept her on thru

Western Washington University sent a questionnaire to students asking them for advice on how the administration could succeed at making sure that in future years, “we are not as white as we are today.” The question notes that WWU’s racial make up does not perfectly reflect the nation at large, and asks students to consider strategies that other universities have used to focus on skin color as the paramount indicator of a student-applicant’s worth. The president of WWU has stated that his explicit goal is to reduce the white population on campus, according to Campus Reform. “I’ve said before and I’ll say it

Well, no. And yes. No — very few people in Washington, D.C., who work for the government have any idea what they would do if a 10-kiloton nuclear device exploded at the intersection of 16th and K

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as
