House passes spending bill
that defunds ´Obamacare´

USA Today, by Susan Davis

WASHINGTON — The House voted 230-189 along party lines Friday to approve a stopgap spending bill to fund the federal government through mid-December, but it is facing certain defeat in the Senate because it includes language aiming to dismantle President Obama´s health care law. Without a stopgap spending bill, the federal government will feel the effects of a shutdown when the fiscal year ends on Sept. 30. The bill extends the current rate of government spending at $986 billion a year. House Republicans attached a provision to defund the Affordable Care Act, a consistent target of congressional Republicans. However, the provision has

The "Uniter" has divided the nation ever further.

This will not pass the senate, but it will place Obamacare squarely on the laps of the Democrats.

It is up the the American people to resist hanouts from the Democrats and boot the "I´ll buy your vote" Democrats out of office. That is how we got into this mess and it´s the only way we will get out... if it´s possible. There are a lot of selfish, yes selfish, ignorant Americans out there that have sold their soul (and everyone´s freedom) for a monthly government check.

The democrats who are smart enough to see that obamacare will fall flat on its face come October 1 should be secretly cheering this outcome. However, it looks like there aren´t that many of them.

Resistance has to start somewhere, Boehner has fallen on his face so many times he is being mistaken for Joe Biden. One can only hope that it gets through the Senate and that O is stuck with the problem of shutting down the government or not.

You can almost see reporter Davis grit her teeth as she wrote this article. Yes it was along pary lines, isn´t 90% of all bills voted along party lines. Then she declares, with a touch of delight, that it will not pass the Senate and will be vetoed. She concludes by telling us at length about the effects of a shutdown. Where does the legislation say anything about a shutdown? It very clearly provides funds to keep the government running. Why can´t these people write anything without stamping their personal bias all over it?

Of course this will go nowhere.. That´s not the point. The Republicans are setting up a gigantic "I told you so" to pound the Democrats with in the 2014 elections, after Obamacare fully implements and is a disaster. "We attempted to defund it. YOU rejected it." The Democrats know this political bloodbath is coming next year but can´t do anything about it because they refuse to reject Obamacare and risk alienating all their lofo constituents who just vote race. 2014 will not be pretty.

Step 1: Complete. Thanks, Spkr. Boehner for allowing the vote, and all the Pubs who supported it.

Step 2: Senate will most likely strip the defunding and pass the rest.

Step 3: Conference/reconciliation. This is where the Pubs must really stand firm.

Now the ball is in the hands of Mike Lee and Ted Cruz.
They have to convince Harry Reid not to amend the bill
before returning it to the House.
Then they have to convince 5 Democrat Senators to vote to defund.
Then they have to convince 21 Democrat Senators to vote to override Obama´s veto.
Hope Cruz doesn´t blink .

I don´t care how many so-called conservatives think this is an empty gesture...I just don´t care. I´m elated that there are people left in this country who are voicing their opposition.

That was the mission all along. Cruz and Lee know exactly what they´re up against, but they are giving us all the chance to SAY NO to Obamacare. They are giving Americans a voice again.

History has shown us over and over that people have a choice to change their government if they have the will.
It´s possible, folks.
And today...it even looks probable.

If the bill goes back to the House with the de-funding provision stripped out, will the house reject the bill?

They should reject it, if the bill is stripped, but I´ll be surprised if they do.

This much is certain; the Senate will never vote to defund Obamacare, and the President would never sign such a bill. So, Obamacare will be funded.

This too is certain; Obamacare will not work. It will fail in more ways than anyone can yet imagine, and the Democrats will own each and every failure.

Now, we all know how adept the Left is at evading blame and responsibility for the disastrous unintended consequences of their social engineering projects, but this time they must be held, in clear terms, responsible for a disaster that the majority of Americans didn’t want, that House Republicans attempted to avoid, and that they, the Democrats, sheltered themselves from by issuing exemptions to themselves and their cronies.

Probationary Budgeting starts to germinate as a breakthrough strategy for transforming our tyrannical and voracious government back into frugal servants of the people.

Here´s how it should unfold:

Quarterly Continuing Resolutions keep the budget foremost in the public eye. (Notice that no one has observed that today´s vote passed funding for only 90 days.)

Each CR reins in a single egregious area of unchecked waste, fraud and abuse and flatlines the rest of the budget. (Senate or Presidential opposition that shuts down the government over a single improvement for a quarter of funding is political suicide.)

Prepare for each single change by perp-walking the associated Department Secretary before Congress to defend failures to eliminate multiplying video examples of the worst waste, fraud and abuse, encouraged by whistleblower bonuses.

Some clever Republican should introduce a budget item for Obamacare. It should note the 12 billion that will not be collected by the IRS because the president has delayed the employer mandate. It should include new estimates of the cost of the PCIP which was running 3 to 5 times projections based on the average of the pools in 50 states. It should include the extra premium tax credits that would be paid if the administration fails to verify income. As a totally new program this should not be part of a continuing resolution.

This could and should have been done last year, but congrats to the House for stepping up for the country. Recall that Harry Reid and the Dem Senate totally ignored the House in order to pass Obamacare originally, so what goes around comes around. Conservatives in Congress must proudly hold the line because our nation is at perilously grave financial risk because government is out of control. Much, much more needs to be defunded, but this is a start. Next: EPA

Looks like a few SitePests got in here today to parrot the liberal talking points--Republicans are tilting at windmills...blah, blah, blah. But as others have pointed out, voting to defund ObamaCare was the right thing for the Republicans to do. Once again, they have pointed out what a disaster this train wreck is, and the Dems will once again have to vote for ObamaCare, or at the very least, sidestep any vote at all. Thanks to Boehner and the House Pubbies for standing up for the American people. I also agree that we need a dislike option.

Republicans must have a death wish. In politics one can only achieve the possible, not the ideal.

Since only half of the 82 ACA implementation deadlines have been met in the last three years. And, some of the "met" deadlines are questionable. A good case can be made for putting implementation on hold until all of the 82 mandates, that should have been met, are caught up and properly met.

In other words, "Take the time to do it right."

Then the Republicans can rightfully ask why the Democrats do not want to do it right.

Dumb political move. Here’s why. Sure, the polls show Obiecare is unpopular-but a lot of the opinion here is soft--- Only a third claim to know what’s in it. I’m surprised that the zealots who live in a bubble and who don’t believe in polls like they don’t believe in Santa Claus, and who swallowed the b.s. that Romney was going to win because polls were skewed +5 D) believe polls now. But there is plenty of reason to be ultra cautious about Obamacare polls OR ANY OTHER issue poll. For that matter. For Issue polls are much less reliable than horse-race polls.

It may seem like ages ago, but about 10 months ago, the United States held national elections. One party, the Republican Party, ran on a fairly specific platform, near the top of which was a promise to repeal Obamacare in its entirety. So did Mittens-author of Romney care.
The "American people" were asked to make a choice. And they did. At the presidential level, the Democratic candidate won with relative ease, and became only the sixth presidential candidate in American history to win 51% of the popular vote twice. In the U.S. Senate, Democrats not only held their majority for the fourth consecutive election cycle, they also unexpectedly added seats. In the U.S. House, We had a shot to win back the Senate. No more.

NOTE: If they say they SUPPORT bills to defund Obamacare, that does not help us because those bills won´t be considered and don´t have to pass. We need them to OPPOSE the CR if it funds Obamacare. The CR must be passed in September and it is our only point of leverage.

My US Constitution does not say anything about the Senate being involved with spending bills. It says spending and taxing bills originate in the House. The Senate has no say. So it is a done deal, right?

It is moving to know some people went to congress to stand for the citizens instead of a destructive agenda .
"When in the course of human events" should guide our opposition.
first Nancy is preaching the lie that a shut down will stop military pay and SS. Can she ever retire her one note hobby horse?
Harry will probably table the bill
and should be retired immediately.
If the critters want to create enough cash to run the country they need only cut off payment to the UN-- that body is more worthless than the US senate and the President..
Next cut off foreign aide except to feed children.
then defund Barry except his salary.
Defund all the golden critter retirements unless they fund America first.
It is time that the projected ouster of the elite who believe they are the rulers and entitled to push tyrant actions against the constitution.

Never underestimate the American spirit. This issue is energizing the people to stand for up their country. If we make our voice known and stand behind this and not waver, we will gain influence, momentum and become a force that we can ride into 2014. This is a good first step.

I would like someone to start documenting the growing number of lost jobs. When you have the facts on our side ... use them with at every turn.

To all of the thumbsucking quitters who visit these threads to show the rest of us how your cynicism makes you so much more insightful than the rest of us poor rubes.....Now that you´ve regaled us with your intellectual superiority, I would hope you would find something else to do...unless you have alternatives to what those who are actually engaged in the battle are attempting to do. Or maybe you believe your "can´t win, shouldn´t try" doctrine really adds to the discussion.

Obie needed the Syria bombing for cover to ram through his domestic agenda with sheep looking the other way and Putie pulled the rug out from under him. Now Obie has to drop his drawers and try to salvage his ObieCare in last ditch effort. Now, if we can just re-associate Obie´s anger with his inner self for all to see.

Excellent maximizing of the Republicans position at this time.
- Show the angry right that you will fight against this monstrosity. It´s the right thing to do.
- Make the Dems fight to defend it so that even the LoFo´s will get it that this hot mess ObamaCare was brought to them by the Demoncratic Party. This will put Red State Dems in a very difficult position.
- And of course the complete long shot is that the Republican initiative gains huge momentum in the next week and actually passes the Senate and even Harry Reid can´t stop it without an enormous public outcry. Yea, we can dream, right?

This all sets the table for 2014 midterms with the boat anchor of ObamaCare firmly chained around the Dems´ necks and the Republicans as the guys who tried seriously hard to save us from it.

I´m encouraged by this for all the reasons outlined above. Having said that, the Republicans are often right on substance and wrong on message. Even Gingrich, arguably one of our more effective communicators, was ultimately damaged by the last government shut down. Fortunately, Obama is no Clinton when it comes to playing politics. Unfortunately, our national media is even more biased against Republicans than they were in the 1990s. The Republicans need someone who can scare the media into reporting the truth, and they need to muzzle all the usual GOP suspects who can´t wait to appear "responsible" by criticizing their own party for taking a stand.

The problem with nominating and electing GOP moderates is that we win the seat but we get the mouth that comes with it. At times like this, they can´t wait to open their mouths in front of a camera, and they do incalculable damage to our cause.

AUSTIN — Documents related to Sen. Wendy Davis’ work as a lawyer for the North Texas Tollway Authority are part of an FBI inquiry of the agency, Travis County officials say. It’s not clear whether Davis’ work for the tollway authority is a focus of the FBI or only part of the material collected in connection with its look into tollway agency operations. The Travis County district attorney’s office said last month that details from its review of a 2012 complaint that a rival filed about Davis’ legal and political activities were “the subject of an open investigation” by the

WASHINGTON — Stepping into a heated debate within the nation’s intelligence agencies, President Obama has decided that when the National Security Agency discovers major flaws in Internet security, it should — in most circumstances — reveal them to assure that they will be fixed, rather than keep mum so that the flaws can be used in espionage or cyberattacks, senior administration officials said Saturday. But Mr. Obama carved a broad exception for “a clear national security or law enforcement need,” the officials said, a loophole that is likely to allow the N.S.A. to continue to exploit security flaws both to crack

LAS VEGAS -- The Bureau of Land Management has announced it will stop the roundup of cattle owned by rancher Cliven Bundy. The BLM says the animals have been illegally grazing on public lands for 20 years. The BLM made the announcement Saturday morning, a week after rangers started gathering the animals from land near Gold Butte. The agency says it is concerned about the safety of its employees and the public. Earlier this week, BLM officers and supporters of the Bundy family were involved in a scuffle. Cliven Bundy´s son, Ammon Bundy, was tased twice by federal agents. Another woman said

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls.
