WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Monday wearily lamented “yet another mass shooting,” this time in the nation’s capital where the debate that raged earlier this year over tightening firearms laws has stalled amid opposition from gun-rights advocates. The shooting at the Washington Navy Yard came a week after voters recalled two Colorado legislators who supported tougher gun measures, illustrating the strong political headwinds faced by lawmakers seeking to respond to the violence. Obama, for one, has been powerless to get legislation passed despite a string of mass shootings during his presidency. In the wake of the shooting at the Navy Yard, Obama
Why do they always think they have to legislate something. Just follow what is already on the books, also you can´t protect everyone all the time. Bad things do happen and legislation will not stop it.
Hey Mr. President BO. You talk about, "strengthening gun laws, including expanding background checks to sales online and at gun shows." I understand the President of the United States is the Commander in Chief of all military and "military Campuses." The shooting was on "your" property with "your" military and hired staff working after "your" background check following "your" security protocol and shooter received a paycheck signed by "your" representative while installing "your" computers. Thank God "our" police had guns and were able to cure the situation. 13 dead yesterday. 13 dead Fort Hood. Why are "your" military killing each other under your direction as Commander and Chief?
Maybe if the government hadn´t grown to be such a behemoth,
and maybe if government hadn´t starting paying ridiculous amounts of money and bennies to both employees and contractors,
and maybe if government hadn´t started hiring people based on race (blacks and other minorities move to the top of the list),
and maybe if qualifications were more important than political correctness (think Nidal Hassaan),
and maybe if government wasn´t dominated by liberals and liberal/communist/democrat politicians giving out these jobs to buy votes,
then maybe, just maybe, we wouldn´t have this problem which is exemplified by the rise to power of the useless Zerobama, a man who has supplanted, if you can believe it, Jimmuh Cahtar as the worst president ever in the history of the world.
And now I have a question: what in the hell is wrong with you weak spined Republicans? If you guys don´t wake up and start acting like men, I am staying home in 2014/2016 and will encourage every Republican voter I know to do the same. Third party here I come!
Based upon what is known about the shooter to date -there is undoubtedly more to come- it is obvious that any number of red flags were waved and missed over a period of years. When all the pieces are put to together it will probably be seen that this man was seriously mentally ill and getting worse for a long time. Those who insist upon blaming firearms for such spree killings turn a blind eye to the real problem, which is almost always paranoid schizophrenia or something close to it. It is quite remarkable that the latest killer was employed in a high security position given what was known and documented of his background. What good are background checks if this level of incompetence in the checkers exists? Perhaps this is another Fort Hood situation in which the future murderer was spotted and known to be a problem for years but handled gently and ineffectively because of minority status.
Stand by for the usual incoming barrage of demagoguery about firearms from the usual suspects.
...so...are employers being forced to hire crazy insane medicated people with criminal records...for jobs with access to guns...for government mandated diversity...guaranteeing a gun incident...because it seems like that is what happened.
Perhaps le curtsying bath house blo fairy queen barbie hussein Ø´blamer the ever innocent and never uninformed could issue a bunch of MF&FCM [malignant fascist & feral caliphate mosque - formerly our White House) decrees prohibiting anyone from stealing weapons including bath tubs and jack hammers for the purpose of doing baad deeds. The NYS (naval yard shooter) stole his and this feral caliphate decree would have prevented this cat from stealing the offending firearms as well as hearing voices. Note: baad is ten degrees worse than bad and is approved by the NEA and Aa-CORN.
Notwithstanding the heartlessness of a president of a President who would go forward with a speech just a few miles from a site where a shooting rampage was occurring while he was talking, and that the media was reporting it, the bottom line is that the background checks to gain clearance to restricted military installations are woefully inadequate. If the suspect could get a clearance, then it appears anyone can, because there were multiple instances of his problems on record and he was currently undergoing treatment for a psychological problem at the VA.
The shooter was an ex-Navy Reservist who did bad things and was let go by the Navy...he was given an Honorable Discharge which allowed him to secure a job with a Defense contractor...now the Navy faces heat for the ´Honorable´ Discharge...I bet they knew better but would have faced even bigger heat for anything less...a black guy with a ´General´ would have it tough finding anything outside minimum wage in Obamas economy. He did not need a permit for a shotgun and D.C. does not honor outside Carry Permits so this shooter was hell bent on doing bad stuff and knew he could get better fire power once on base by killing a guard or an armed sailor on duty. Bad scene all around. How would dissarming the good guys kept him from his evil deeds?
It´s been obvious for quite some time that one of the purposes of ObamaKKKare is to dry up funding for research into schizophrenia and oher mental illnesses.
The Democrat elite want all that stuff gone!
Obama´s personal beliefs about mental illness are probably along the line of the story he told about surgeons deciding to amputate or fix a damaged foot based on the level of reimbursement. In short, he doesn´t believe it´s real, nor that there are genetic defects that create disease.
He suffers from magical thinking ~ delusions ~ as do other Democrats. Certainly we need a gene test to determine if something is true schizophrenia or just pretend schizophrenia, but maybe we have it ~ how do they register to vote ~ if Democrat, odds are good they are nuts.
This morning I watched a DC reporter provide ´on-the-scene´ coverage for our local CBS affiliate TV station (WLKY, Louisville.) The DC reporter told the reporters on the set that "the NRA had not yet provided any comment" regarding yesterday´s tragedy at the Navy Yard.
This attack happened on a military installation by a disturbed contractor. If anything there was a failure in security protocol, not weaponry.
Now they are saying that there was no assault rifle involved, and that the perpetrator showed up with a shotgun, disarmed two security guards and took their handguns. They are not sure yet, but that would mean that he had his own shotgun and the two handguns from the security guards when he perpetrated the murders. Obviously the liberal Democrats have a lot of other factors here to mull over before they press on to essentially ban law abiding people from owning firearms.
I have been a civilian contractor working for the US Navy and granted a "Secret" clearance. To give me the clearance, there was no real background check. All they did was pull my three credit reports and a low level clerk proofed my application to see if I answered all the questions.
That is it.....nothing else.
That he had a "Secret" clearance is really no big deal.

Everyone seems to be afraid of what is really going on here. This perp got away with everything, hired by defense contractor, shooting out tires, shooting through ceiling of apartment, and given an security clearance because of affirmative action. He is black so everyone is afraid of saying anything because they don´t want to be called a racist. It´s that simple. I have been seeing it for years and it´s not getting any better. Time for this to stop. The democrats are the real racists because that´s how they look at everything, through the glasses of race.
President Obama has responded to the ObamaCare debacle by bringing in Beltway liberal mastermind John Podesta as a senior West Wing hand, and he promptly announced his arrival by likening House Republicans to "a cult worthy of Jonestown" in an interview with Politico. The states running their own insurance exchanges are exacting more accountability for their ObamaCare failures. Enrollment and technical dysfunctions and security breaches akin to the 36 federal exchanges continue to beset Minnesota´s operation, called MNsure. On Tuesday, April Todd-Malmlov, the exchange´s executive director since 2011, resigned under political duress. The state´s problems are severe—4,478 have selected a plan so
A&E has placed Duck Dynasty patriarch Phil Robertson on indefinite hiatus following anti-gay remarks he made in a recent profile in GQ. "We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty," A&E said in a statement. "His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely." The news comes after Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality in an interview
Homeland Insecurity: The post-9/11 Capitol is like Fort Knox. Yet earlier this month, a convicted terrorist still under house arrest waltzed through that security rampart. Who´s minding the fort? A group lobbying to restore the Muslim Brotherhood to power in Cairo held a Dec. 5 briefing in the high-security Cannon Office Building on Capitol Hill. The event, sponsored by the Egypt Freedom Foundation, featured speakers critical of the ouster of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. The foundation, which according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism was incorporated in Washington on Oct. 1, recently helped organize another event at Georgetown University that featured a member
Freedom: It´s bad enough that the president´s health insurance takeover costs more, breaks his pledge of letting you keep your plan and diminishes choice. It actually restricts your travels too. ´We have never had to put a wall up to keep our people in." Those words from President John F. Kennedy in June 1963, standing at the Berlin Wall, neatly illustrated the moral superiority of the free West over the Soviet bloc. But Americans are now about to find themselves grappling with their own bureaucratic Berlin Wall. The American Thinker´s Stella Paul has exposed the virtually unnoticed fact that within the ObamaCare
Conservative legal activist Larry Klayman got into an argument on CNN with host Don Lemon and legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin when he was brought on to discuss his victory this week in a lawsuit challenging NSA surveillance, resulting in Lemon cutting him off the screen and Klayman comparing Lemon to disgraced former MSNBC host Martin Bashir. Klayman’s appearance Tuesday night on CNN was preceded by a profile of him that included a quotation from a former George W. Bush staffer saying his lawsuits were about “fighting for himself and his own, in my opinion, delusions of grandeur.” When Klayman was brought into
Nine out of 10 Americans do Christmas and three-quarters believe in the biblical account of Jesus‘ birth — but only a little more than half actually regard the holiday primarily as a religious celebration. More than one-third say it’s more a cultural holiday, a new poll from Pew Research’s Religion & Public Life Policy found. The poll also found that generational differences in how Christmas is celebrated abound. Younger adults generally see the holiday through less religious lens than older Americans. And those under the age of 30 are far less likely to attend a religious service as part of the holiday
The National Journal’s Major Garrett is out with a new report detailing how House GOP leadership plans to push an immigration bill that would grant amnesty to America’s at least 11 million illegal aliens in 2014, a bill that would move after GOP primary season and have House Budget Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) leading the way. “Boehner has to wait for the bulk of primary season to pass (May or June) before serious immigration work can begin,” Garrett wrote. By then, much of the legislation can be written and the calendar cleared for action in the summer. The House GOP
A group of drag queens in Louisiana has decided to use their cross-dressing talents to help promote Obamacare. Wednesday Night Tea — “a unique, interactive drag queen show held every Wednesday at Central Station in Shreveport, Louisiana” — has partnered up with the non-profit Out2Enroll to help market Obamacare to the LGBT community. Out2Enroll focuses on informing those in the LGBT community about the benefits of Obamacare and on enrolling them in insurance plans and events in cities across the country. “We immediately began promoting Out2Enroll resources to our in-house fans and our Facebook fans, and we’re including information about
John Podesta, who last week was named as a senior adviser to President Barack Obama, apologized Wednesday morning after being quoted as comparing House Republicans to cult followers of Jim Jones. In an interview earlier this fall — part of which was published in a lengthy Politico Magazine profile — Podesta said that Obama and his advisers should look to work around Congress for the rest of his second term. He suggested that Congress was uncooperative — and then compared the House to members of the cult that committed mass suicide in 1978. "They should focus on executive action, given that they
RUSH: I mentioned earlier Baba Wawa and I just want you to hear it. This is last night on Piers Morgan Live. I don´t think this guy would have an audience if it weren´t for me. We built MSNBC and then we killed it by banning audio sound bites from the place. I gotta start thinking about that again here. Anyway, Baba Wawa, just to be fair, she´s named me one of the top 10 most whatever, interesting, fascinating, whatever it is, people of the year three times, I think, in the past 25 years. I´ve always gotten along with her.
Take a look at the wording of this WaPo headline: “Obama Suffers Most From Year of Turmoil, Poll Finds.” Accompanying it is this photo: The article goes on to describe the precipitous decline in Obama’s standing in approval polls: His position is all the more striking when compared with his standing a year ago, as he was preparing for his second inauguration after a solid reelection victory. That high note proved fleeting as the president faced a series of setbacks, culminating in the botched rollout of his Affordable Care Act two months ago. Some may think reporters and editors are simply clumsy or indifferent writers,

Just hang on. You might be in for a little bit all of surprise here. "As part of an unusual experiment, the husband was instructed..." In the
President Barack Obama sent Russia a clear message about its treatment of gays and lesbians with who he is — and isn’t — sending to represent the United States at the Sochi Olympics. Billie Jean King will be one of two openly gay athletes in the U.S. delegation for the opening and closing ceremonies, Obama announced Tuesday. For the first time since 2000, however, the U.S. will not send a president, former president, first lady or vice president to the Games. Russia has come under fierce criticism for passing national laws banning “gay propaganda.” Though the White House did not specifically address
A&E broke its silence on Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments late Wednesday. The cable network announced Robertson is off the hit show for the time being. The network issued the following statement to EW: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”
The gay and lesbian rights group GLAAD is slamming ´Duck Dynasty´ patriarch Phil Robertson for comments he made about homosexuality to GQ magazine, and challenging the show´s network, A&E, to take action against its most popular star. In a wide-ranging interview, Robertson shared his thoughts on homosexuality and religion. After stating in very graphic terms his preference for heterosexual sex over homosexual sex, Robertson launched into more thoughts about homosexuality and sinning. “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong... Sin becomes fine,” he said.
Yes, she really said it. On CNN’s Piers Morgan Live Tuesday, in a brief discussion about President Obama, Barbara Walters actually said, “We thought that he was going to be - I shouldn´t say this at Christmastime, but - the next messiah” (video follows with transcript and commentary): PIERS MORGAN, HOST: You have interviewed every president of my lifetime. Why is Obama facing so much opposition now? Why is he struggling so much to really fulfill the great flame of ambition and excitement that he was elected on originally in 2009?
Reportage of last week´s Nelson Mandela funeral reveals clearly enough that President Obama has reached the point in his tenure where everything ceases to go right -- when even the most serious and determined efforts deteriorate into a hash, or worse, a joke. This happens to everyone in public life eventually, politicians above all. The original attraction wears thin, flaws appear more prominently, styles and opinions change. There is little the individual can do to avoid this.(snip)The Mandela funeral shows that Obama is deep into this phase of his career, and has landed on his head.
Everyone is doing thoughtful year-end pieces on President Obama. Writers and reporters agree he’s had his worst year ever. I infer from most of their essays an unstated but broadly held sense of foreboding: There’s no particular reason to believe next year will be better, and in fact signs and indications point to continued trouble. I would add that in recent weeks I have begun to worry about the basic competency of the administration, its ability to perform the most fundamental duties of executive management. One reason I worry is that I frequently speak with people who interact with the White
London – Large tapestry portraits of President Barack Obama were unveiled for guests at the U.S. Embassy in London over the weekend. The recently-installed, large-scale tapestry portraits were created by National Medal of Arts winner and renowned American painter, photographer Chuck Close. Close created the portraits by compiling and interweaving Polaroids of the president from an hour-long photo shoot done the summer before, the Washington Post reports. The portraits are nearly 8 feet tall and more than 6 feet wide, with the final piece looking like photos but feeling like textiles. Close used one photo of Obama smiling and another
John Podesta was just named as a new senior-level adviser to President Obama last week, but he´s already ruffling Republican feathers. In a profile published late Tuesday night by Politico Magazine, Podesta is quoted comparing Republicans to the infamous cult led by Jim Jones, who was responsible for the 1978 cyanide poisoning of more than 900 of his followers in Guyana. "They need to focus on executive action given that they are facing a second term against a cult worthy of Jonestown in charge of one of the houses of Congress," said Podesta of what Obama´s White House team faces.
On Monday, Variety reported that Fox News had once again dominated all comers I the annual ratings, not merely blowing out CNN, MSNBC and HLN, but drawing more viewers than the combined averages of the three other networks. Fox News averaged 1.774 million viewers in primetime; the other three averaged a combined 1.626 million viewers in primetime. Fox finished sixth among all basic cable companies. The addition of Megyn Kelly to primetime has been a boon for Roger Ailes and company, with Kelly up 23% in total viewers in the timeslot. No wonder CNN, which is struggling to outpace Headline
The U.S. Army War College, which molds future field generals, has begun discussing whether it should remove its portraits of Confederate generals — including those of Robert E. Lee and Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. Nestled in rural Pennsylvania on the 500-acre Carlisle Barracks, the war college is conducting an inventory of all its paintings and photographs with an eye for rehanging them in historical themes to tell a particular Army story. During the inventory, an unidentified official — not the commandant, Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Cucolo III — asked the administration why the college honors two generals who fought against the United States,
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) took some shots at his fellow Republicans during Tuesday’s Senate debate over the proposed bipartisan budget deal put together by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA). Joining the more moderate wing of the Republican Party, McCain declared his strong support for the deal and accused any members of the GOP who plan to vote against it of lacking “intellectual integrity.” McCain said he was supporting the bill for two reasons: One, to prevent the possibility of another government shutdown, and two, to alleviate the “devastating impact of sequestration on our military.” “The American people steadfastly
Valerie Jarrett denied being a “shadow chief of staff” to President Obama on Wednesday, insisting she never talks about work during her private time with the president and first lady. “I´m not the shadow chief of staff. I have very specific responsibilities,” Jarrett, a senior adviser to the president and a longtime family friend of the Obamas, said at a Politico breakfast. [WATCH VIDEO] Jarrett said that “people sometimes presume because I am a friend of the president and first lady” that she´s able to exert influence when the Obamas retire from the office to their residence. “There is this
