The University of California has leased an Oakland residence for incoming system president Janet Napolitano for $9,950 a month, officials said Monday. Napolitano, the former U.S. secretary of Homeland Security and former governor of Arizona, will be provided the housing plus an annual $570,000 salary, $8,916 a year for car expenses and $142,500 for one-time relocation costs. Napolitano is scheduled to begin her UC presidency Sept. 30, with her office at UC system headquarters in downtown Oakland. The two-year lease for the 3,500-square-foot residence began Sept. 1.

I spent many years hanging out in Oakland and while there is a lot of crime, it isn´t as bad as a lot of people think. I was never afraid of walking around even at night and I´m a white girl. My friend was attacked though (but she was pretty wild and put herself into precarious situations). And there was one time I was robbed at machine gun point, but I think that was a set up because it happened in Peidmont (the hills) and I question the person I was with. At any rate, old Janet obviously found a nice mansion up in the hills where all the rich people live. As another mentioned, lefties are all hypocrites in that they claim to want to redistribute the wealth except when it comes to themselves and their lefty friends. They are all corrupt tyrants who lie. UCLA is now bugging me for alumni donations...forget it!

Vice President Joe Biden really did get ahead of President Barack Obama on accepting gay marriage in 2012 — and the White House really wasn’t happy about it, despite the two leaders’ many attempts to claim otherwise. That’s the story laid out in Jo Becker’s new book, “Forcing the Spring,” which documents the past few years of successful efforts to expand the legalization of gay marriage, according to an advance copy obtained by POLITICO. Speculation that Biden’s comments on “Meet the Press” in May 2012 were meant as a trial balloon, Becker writes, came from people “not privy to the

Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports.
