Another Fine Mess

Private citizen Hillary Clinton talks about Syria. Why? In what capacity? Well of course when you’re Hillary you never really stop being Hillary. Who’s on first? Hillary, Kerry, Obama or Vladimir Putin? Readers will recall the recent post The Voyage of the Nikolai Filchenkov, where it first became apparent that the Russian President was getting ready to pull the rug right out from under Barack Obama. It was speculated that the ship was heading for Syria to remove the chemical weapons so that Obama would have no further pretext to attack Assad. Putin looks to be inside the Administration’s OODA

I too wondered about the precedent and propriety of private citizen Hillary Rodham Clinton sticking her nose into the Syria three ring circus. It struck me as at the least bad taste. I mean, after all... this woman was responsible for Benghazi, about which all she had to say in contempt to U.S. Senators trying to find out what happened and why was "At this point, what difference does it really make?" She got away with it, too. Her fan and groupies and enablers in the Democratic party/media applauded her defiant disrespect, bad manners and refusal to cooperate. Hillary gets away with a lot of stuff. She always has. That´s what it means to be Hillary and a Clinton for extra added measure: you get away with stuff, all kinds of stuff. Sometimes it seems that there is nothing you cannot get away with. We do not yet know the outer limits of the permissible for the Clintons, for it is likely they have yet to be fully explored.

The really remarkable thing about Hillary is that she has never actually done or accomplished anything, not one single thing - except, of course, to be Hillary. Indeed, everything she has ever touched or become involved with is somehow flawed, failed, corrupt or tainted with sleaze. No matter. Hillary marches on. She like like a parody of Delacroix´ "Liberty Leading the People" whose more appropriate title would be "Hillary Leading the Fools."

Of course, Hillary is not alone in these qualities of never having done or accomplished anything, of emitting the rank odor of endless scandals, of exhibiting a conspicuous lack of candor and integrity, and of being the center of a cult of personality followed and adored by a star-struck children´s crusade of faithful followers. Something about Democrats -their immaturity, perhaps?- makes them susceptible to such snake oil salespeople.

Hillary did not enter the White House uninvited. Kerry´s first test as Sec of State was an abject failure. He has discovered that there is more to the job than traveling around in a government jet pretending to be European. The only difference between him and Clinton is she has learned to either talk a good game or keep her mouth shut. She could hardly resist the opportunity to swoop into DC and appear to be giving advice - and she is the last person they should be getting it from.

If it was her intention to sound strong it didn´t work. It sounded full of bombast inappropriate to the topic.

Hillary´s dereliction of duty and incompetence are responsible for the deaths of American citizens. She should be indicted and tried. Assad is guilty of crimes against humanity. He should be taken into custody by what ever means, put on trial at Nuremberg like a Nazi and then hung. This would set a fine example both for world dictators and incompetent corrupt Washington Democrats.

Do you suppose this had anything to do with Obama´s open mike comment to Putin that after the election he would have more flexibility?

What if this whole thing was a long range set up?

The result is that the US gets weakened and Putin gets stronger.

Isn´t that what Obama wants?

She seems to be trying to look presidential, but comes across as droning and looking very tired. WHY is this "former" government employee´s speech being hosted by whitehouse.gov?

Also, notice the language, once again. "Global order"? Is that the new euphanism for NWO? She might want to be careful with verbally pushing the Russians around. Vlad, as I recall from the reset button incident among others, doesn´t seem to much care for her Thighness.

Her delivery always puts me in mind of a scene in Cheers: Lilith is coaching Rebecca on how to be an androgynous, castrating, corporate woman. Rebecca says something, and Lilith shoots back, in a monotone: "too much inflection!" Though far uglier, there is a lot of Becks in H! : self-absorbed, self-important fat serial-bungler. Capablity-wise, H couldn´t carry Lilith´s jock.

And now here´s Hillary touting the importance of what she has characterized as a "universal norm." Assad "has violated a universal norm at the heart of our global order."

But ... but ... isn´t marriage between one man and one woman a "universal norm" that has been a foundation stone of human civilization for thousands of years? Isn´t a "universal norm" that is civilizational a more significant "universal norm" than rules over which weapons we may kill each other with? Isn´t government recognition of same sex marriage a violation of a "universal norm" of the highest order?

Why in God´s name would anyone think this ambulance chaser could do anything but serve herself and her greed to be in charge. Again, the sight of hillary and obama greeting the bodies of the Benghazi victims was the greatest travesty I have witnessed in my 50+ years.

Yep, and on the eve of Benghazi Hillary will receive the Liberty Medal, presented by that great American who has no respect for the dead Americans....Jeb Bush. Another one of the great Bush clan. “Former Secretary Clinton has dedicated her life to serving and engaging people across the world in democracy,” Bush said in a statement. “These efforts as a citizen, an activist, and a leader have earned Secretary Clinton this year’s Liberty Medal.”...Jeb Bush.
What disrespect and dishonor! These people have no shame.

I don´t know who is more pathetic. Hillary for having the gall to make a foreign policy statement after she was directly responsible for the deaths of four Americans under her charge or the fact that the dunderhead Jeb Bush is actually willing to present her with this medal? Folks, both parties are so inbred there isn´t much difference in them.

Hillary should be charged with dereliction of duty and then stripped of all benefits, pension, etc., she enjoys at the taxpayer´s expense. If wealthy democrats are so high minded why don´t they relinquish the benefits they receive when they retire for the common good of course. They talk the talk but can´t walk the walk. They are greedy power hungry hypocrites.

#4, it´s well known that the hideous screech ululated at the Senate hearing is pretty much the norm for her. There were stories from the Clinton White House years(and actually when Billy was AK gov) of her violent and screaming outbursts.
Remember her in her purple pantsuit in Africa, 2009, i believe, verbally attacking a young African girl for daring to suggest that she should ask what Billy thought about an issue... she had misinterpreted the girl´s broken English.

HRC is an impertinent, cranky, irascible, power-hungry nag.

#15, it seems they´re trying to edge Chelsea onto the scene.

I find it telling that the Obamabots keep speaking in terms of Syria violating universal "norms." Norms? These fools, devoid of morals, cannot simply say that murder of a civilian populace by sarin gas is morally atrocious? They have to fall back on "norms?"

I´m so far unpersuaded that Assad was necessarily behind the gassing because it was a relatively pro-Assad populace, not an enemy populace, that was gassed. Nor am I persuaded that, just because a moral atrocity was committed, it´s up to the USA alone to avenge it.

Obama could see that the polls were disfavoring his attempts to attack Syria, so he first turned to Congress for approval, and now is backing off of even that, claiming that "Michelle would say no" to attacking Syria.

Zero has no moral compass. Polls and Michelle and universal "norms" form his shifting moral compass.

All this bluster from both 0bama and Hillary about "punishing" Syria when NOT ONE thing was done to punish or hold accountable the people who murdered Americans. As Hillary so boldly stated, "What difference does it make"? Hillary is despicable and who cares what she has to say about anything anymore.

L dotters above, congratulations for truth.
Never forget: terrifying Benghazi was only Hillary’s most recent crime. Always remember, while she operated as the first communist medicine-promoting, co-president, with lying Slick Willie, between the two of them and their endless crime scandals from Arkansas to Washington, they were both involved in another massive body count. There are lists on the internet, carefully compiled from many different sources, and all called, The Friends of Bill and Hillary” (aka “body count”). It contains names, times, details of over 125 premature deaths of people associated with the Clintons, in one business and political way, or another. Murder, assassination, “suicide”, dozens of sudden, unexplainable, never investigated deaths surrounding the “friends” of the Clintons. Like Obama’s forged documents and records, also very neatly covered up by the NYTimes style press and the Diane Sawyers style TV news actors. So many media cover ups! The zombie media protects her whatever.

As Sec of State it was Hillary´s job to represent the U.S capitalism/free market position in the world. But instead her goal centered on How to make Herself a more visible icon. In the process she flew thousands of miles in a huge hotel room with her ever close partner Huma. What she accomplished was to advance the notion of closeted same sex partnerships while married to notorious opposite sex politicians, all while advocating for openly lesbian relationships. All this of course qualifies her for President because "what difference does it make" if she´s living a lie while nodding her head up and down in the pursuit of a position held by someone she despises. If Democrat politics were a board game, there would be no rules and no goal other than notoriety.

I think Putin is on first. He has observed that Obama really, really, really wants to attack Syria (in order to support his beloved MusBros) and so has removed Obama´s excuse (the chemical weapons). Obama can retreat and anger his MusBros bros (perhaps a dangerous thing to do given they might have a lot of dirt on Obama) or he can go ahead and throw the hand grenade and totally confuse all the other monkeys (us) destroying himself politically in the process. Decisions, decisions. Russians play a good game of chess.

Advice to Democrats: Don´t say ´recovery´

WASHINGTON - Election-year memo to Democratic candidates: Don´t talk about the economic recovery. It´s a political loser. So say Democratic strategists in a blunt declaration that such talk skips over "how much trouble people are in, and doesn´t convince them that policymakers really understand or are even focusing on the problems they continue to face." In addition, Stan Greenberg, James Carville and others wrote that in head-to-head polling tests the mere mention of the word "recovery" is trumped by a Republican assertion that the Obama administration has had six years to get the economy moving and its policies haven´t worked. President Obama has warned that Iran is not open for business, even as the United States has loosened some of its punishing economic sanctions as part of an interim nuclear pact. Saying they can no longer ignore the rising prices of health care, some of the most influential medical groups in the nation are recommending that doctors weigh the costs, not just the effectiveness of treatments, as they make decisions about patient care. The shift, little noticed outside the medical establishment but already controversial inside it, suggests that doctors are starting to redefine their roles, from being concerned exclusively about individual patients to exerting influence on how health care dollars are spent. “We understand that we doctors should be and are stewards of the larger society as well as of the patient in

Hillary Clinton may end up deciding she wants to spend the 935 days until election 2016 making corporate speeches and spoiling her grandchild. Recent events have exposed weaknesses in Clinton’s supposedly impregnable armor, gaps through which a Democratic or Republican challenger could damage, perhaps even defeat her. The bad headlines to which she has been subjected are enough to make anyone—anyone who isn’t a Clinton—think twice about running for president. Look at the polls. This week’s Fox News poll has Clinton’s favorable rating at its lowest point in six years. She is at 49 percent favorable, 45 percent unfavorable—similar to her

Soon after the tea party era began in Congress in 2011, President Obama and House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan each released their budgets, proposing how much the government should tax and spend over the rest of the decade. Three years into that budget showdown, Mr. Ryan and his Republican colleagues are winning. Government spending has slowed, and Mr. Obama’s plans for higher taxes and higher spending have fallen by the wayside. “The discretionary spending has in fact been driven by Republicans post-2010 clamping down,” said Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former director of the Congressional Budget Office who is now president of the

Ezra Klein, in his new capacity as one of the impresarios behind Vox, has written a pair of attention-grabbing posts — here, and then here — defending the proposition that Obamacare has, in some sense, “won,” and that conservatives who can’t come to terms with that victory can’t come to terms with reality itself. Reading them, it struck me that this argument would benefit from laying down some specific markers for the near future, because Klein seems to move back and forth between two definitions of success. At times, as when he writes that Obamacare “has won its survival” and

What would a Mitch

It’s no secret that Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) don’t like one another. They battle regularly over legislation and their Senate floor fights over arcane-but-important rules have become must-see entertainment for senatorial insiders. According to aides in both parties, the two leaders have not had a one-on-one sitdown to discuss legislation (or anything else) since late last year. Nowadays, all business is conducted on the phone or in brief discussions on the Senate floor. Part of that feud is political – Democrats targeted McConnell in 2008, Republicans targeted Reid in 2010, Democrats

Jews have reportedly been told to ´register´ with pro-Russian forces in the east Ukrainian city of Donetsk. They were also told they would need to provide a list of property they own as well as being ordered to pay a fee or face the threat of deportation. U.S. officials in Washington say leaflets bearing the chilling order have recently appeared in the city amid pro and anti-Russian protests as tensions rise in the area. It comes after Jews leaving a synagogue in the city of Donetsk were reportedly told they had to ´register´ with Ukranians trying to make the city part of Russia.United

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything.
