Barack Obama agrees to
meet Russian gay activists
in St Petersburg in a slight
against Putin´s new equality laws

Barack Obama is to meet gay activists during his G20 visit to Russia in what is being viewed as a snub to Vladimir Putin´s controversial new equality laws that outlaw ´homosexual propaganda´. As Obama prepared to meet Russia´s civil society leaders, including some gay activists, after meeting leaders at the G20 summit, about two dozen activists rallied in St Petersburg to protest against the law. In June, Putin signed a bill that classified ´homosexual propaganda´ as pornography and provides for fines and arrest for those making it accessible to minors. The same legislation gave the national government the authority to

Comments:
Putin calls US Sec of S Jon Carry a liar, all but openly mocks Zero himself, and our COIC (community organizer in chief) slaps back by rabble-rousing with the alternative lifestyle set (not reported is whether he "bowed").

Best part: Russian law says gay or pro-gay foreigners can be detained for up to 2 weeks, then ejected from the country. Wonder what they´d do if they encountered someone who met all 3 criteria.

Mr. Obama may play games, but Mr. Putin does not.

Newark — In one of the largest Superfund cleanups ever proposed, federal officials yesterday called for a bank-to-bank dredging of the Passaic River that would remove more than 4 million cubic yards of toxic sediment from the river bottom — enough to fill up MetLife Stadium twice. The $1.7 billion cleanup, under study for 25 years, would target the lower eight miles of the highly polluted waterway, from Belleville to Newark, which remains heavily contaminated with high concentrations of dioxin, PCBs and other contaminants left behind by more than a century of industrial activity. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
