Brutality of Syrian Rebels
Posing Dilemma in West

New York Times, by C. J. CHIVERS

The Syrian rebels posed casually, standing over their prisoners with firearms pointed down at the shirtless and terrified men. The prisoners, seven in all, were captured Syrian soldiers. Five were trussed, their backs marked with red welts. They kept their faces pressed to the dirt as the rebels’ commander recited a bitter revolutionary verse. “For fifty years, they are companions to corruption,” he said. “We swear to the Lord of the Throne, that this is our oath: We will take revenge.” The moment the poem ended, the commander, known as “the Uncle,” fired a bullet into the back of the first

So what is the NYT´s problem with this? Aren´t they the ones who are pushing the "all cultures are equal" meme down the public´s throat?

Pardon me, but there are several Syrian rebel groups. Certainly the worst are al Qa-ida related. There are also groups of Free Syrian Army, who are not comrades-in-arms with alQ.

All discussions of these "resistance" fighters ought to distinguish about whom we are referring. They are more different than Moderate Pubbies and Conservatives.

There should really be no dilemma. Both sides hate us. Let the savages kill each other. They´re good at it and we don´t have a dog in this fight.

When you can´t or won´t call evil by its name, you enable it. The abject fear the West has in confronting Muslims is all the encouragement that thy need to do their evil deeds. When we did not crush them after 9/11 to the extent it put fear into their hearts, we lost the high ground. It was a test that we failed. How different would this world be if we hadn´t bought into the lie that Islam is a peaceful religion and treated it as it is, a theo-political philosophy whose end game is submission or death.

#2 differentiating the rebel groups is the biggest problem. These are not uniformed armies fighting under different flags nor are they fighting under one flag. Our leaders do not know who they are nor do we the citizens of the US, who our leaders are supposed to serve, know who the groups are. What we do know is that al-Qaeda and other terror orgs are fighting with and as the rebels. Even in the Free Syrian Army terrorist groups have infiltrated.

Bottom line-in opposing Assad the US is aligning itself with Terror Organizations. Obama, Kerry, McCain, Graham and others, tell us what the last 12 years have been about. Tell the families who have lost someone in these wars Against Terror or have had a loved one come home injured and maimed because of the War on Terror why now we must support (directly or indirectly it doesn´t matter) these terrorists.

Syria is not on our radar because of war crimes.

In terms of the magnitude of human tragedy, it is tiny compared to areas like the sub-Sahara. In terms of crime against civilians, how does gassing 1500 people compare to burning to death hundreds of thousands in the fire-bombing of Dresden? The notion that in proper war, gentlemen dress in uniforms to kill each other by regulated and acceptable means only are childishly naïve. The term civil war is an oxymoron. War is brutal, savage and inhumane, period.

Syria is on our radar because Obama supports the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Saudis support the MusBros. Saudi Arabians have been backing and funding Obama since his school days. Obama is perhaps a Musbros (if you can believe some Egyptian TV news reporting). Israel would prefer the MusBros over the Iranian Shias who back Assad and are a nuclear threat to Israel. So it´s not hard to see why Obama wants to support the MusBros rebels in Syria. But it´s not our fight. It´s Shia vs. Sunni with Israel caught in the middle. Let the Saudis/Sunnis and Iranian/Shias settle it among themselves. The Islamists among both groups are all our enemy, are equally vicious and will eventually turn to fighting us no matter who wins the current battle.

#16 ~ lest we forget it, CIVILIZATION itself was invented in the Middle East.

Damascus is several thousand years older than the shoreline around Lake Erie (just to put this into perspective) and you didn´t see Erie move any time recently did you.

The first organized nation state warfare was conducted between Assyria and Egypt ~

In general all subsequent civilizations drew on the discoveries of the ME ~ writing, accounting, domestic animals, domesticated plants (wheat, barley, rye, etc.), how to make war, how to commit genocide, how to vote, how to cut off heads in a single blow, how to build armor, and so forth.

Just one incredible thing after the other.

McCain assures us all there are moderates to back! Right.. McCain’s response, as always, is to jump into the fight with guns blazing and undertake a grueling mission for regime change. Let him make that case if he wants – it is as coherent as it is quite mad. It’s as mad as picking a former half-term delusional governor as his vice-president. There is a reason he lost the election to Obama. So why is Obama now ceding foreign policy to this hot-headed buffoon?

Two years before the Boston Marathon bombing, the Russian government concealed key information on one of the killers that might have thwarted the attack, a new report charges.Kremlin officials intercepted a phone conversation in which Tamerlan Tsarnaev discussed Islamic jihad with his mother, but they withheld the information from the FBI, according to the U.S. inspector general report that comes as the one-year anniversary of the bombing approaches. Fears that high-speed traders have been rigging the U.S. stock market went mainstream last week thanks to allegations in a book by financial author Michael Lewis, but there may be a more serious threat to investors: the increasing amount of trading that happens outside of exchanges. Some former regulators and academics say so much trading is now happening away from exchanges that publicly quoted prices for stocks on exchanges may no longer properly reflect where the market is. And this problem could cost investors far more money than any shenanigans related to high frequency trading. When the average investor, or even

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared Tuesday his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better´ in a Rose Garden press conference. But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night.
