Kerry: Syria Presents Democrats

PJ Media, by Bryan Preston

Secretary of State John “I was for it before I was against it” Kerry has thrown down the Syria gauntlet before his fellow Democrats. Secretary of State John Kerry told House Democrats that the United States faced a “Munich moment” in deciding whether to respond to the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government. In a 70-minute conference call on Monday afternoon, Kerry derided Syrian President Bashar Assad as a “two-bit dictator” who will “continue to act with impunity,” and he urged lawmakers to back President Barack Obama’s plan for “limited, narrow” strikes against the Assad regime, Democratic

We have managed to wreck Egypt and Libya. We got rid of Saddam Hussein who provided a damper on Iran. Now we are going for Syria.

One assumes the goal is to completely destabilize the Middle East. Perhaps the Council of Foreign Affairs thinks WWIII is a good idea.

Democrats are so predictable. They like to get us in to wars, so they can look macho. WWI - Wilson, WWII - FDR, Korea - Truman, Vietnam - JFK/LBJ. Then when it´s politically expedient, they proceed to lose the wars they got us in to - Korea and Vietnam. They never mention where Assad got his chemical weapons, when there is abundant evidence Hussein moved it from Iraq to Syria in the 9 months that the Left delayed us invading Iraq, saying we were "rushing to war." Overthrowing Assad is just part of the game plan, as in Egypt and Libya, to install even more radical Muslims on the way to a Caliphate. Barack Hussein said he would stand with the Muslims. Probably one of the few times he hasn´t lied to the American People.

Not "Munich", Mr Secretary. Since the Obama mob is involved, only very small people participate.

It´s the Munchkin Moment!

Student debt may hurt housing recovery
by hampering first-time buyers
Washington Post, by Dina ElBoghdady    Original Article

The growing student loan burden carried by millions of Americans threatens to undermine the housing recovery’s momentum by discouraging, or even blocking, a generation of potential buyers from purchasing their first homes. Recent improvements in the housing market have been fueled largely by investors who snapped up homes in the past few years. But that demand is waning as prices climb and mortgage rates rise. An analysis by the Mortgage Bankers Association found that loan applications for home purchases have slipped nearly 20 percent in the past four months compared with the same period a year earlier.

After a tumultuous week of party infighting and leadership stumbles, congressional Republicans are focused on calming their divided ranks in the months ahead, mostly by touting proposals that have wide backing within the GOP and shelving any big-ticket legislation for the rest of the year. Comprehensive immigration reform, tax reform, tweaks to the federal health-care law — bipartisan deals on each are probably dead in the water for the rest of this Congress. “We don’t have 218 votes in the House for the big issues, so what else are we going to do?” said Rep. Immigrant rights activists, including some self-identified illegal immigrants, were arrested outside the White House on Monday as part of a protest against President Obama’s deportation policies, signaling that even as Republicans take blame for halting legalization legislation, Democrats face political peril, too. Mr. Obama was out of town, playing golf in California, so he wasn’t at the White House during the protests outside the North Lawn, on the sidewalk along Pennsylvania Avenue. With action on immigration stalled in Congress, attention is turning back to the administration. Activists say Mr. Obama needs to expand

The latest quirky occurrence at the home of the Daytona 500 came Saturday night when there was a fire inside the pace car for the exhibition Sprint Unlimited. For Democrats looking to post-

With three years remaining in the presidency of Barack Obama, the party he has led since mesmerizing members with his 2008 campaign has begun debating a post-Obama future. Though more united than Republicans, Democrats nevertheless face simmering tensions between the establishment and a newly energized populist wing, led by the unabashed liberalism of New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and the fiery rhetoric of Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren. The schisms are as much stylistic as substantive. But however defined, they offer a challenge to the party’s next leader, whether former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden

Barack Obama owes his presidency largely to the Iraq war. It was Obama’s purity on the war–he opposed it when Hillary Clinton, John Kerry and others were voting for it–that endeared him to the Democratic Party’s base. Indeed, one could say that the contemporary American Left owes its vigor, if not its existence, to the Iraq war. Those who lived through the years from 2003 to 2008 won’t forget it–the online hysteria, the demonstrations, the wild charges, the assassination fantasies, the calls for impeachment. Remember when antiwar demonstrations could bring out enough people to fill the streets? This was Washington,

CAMBRIDGE, Md. — It had been a good week — a very good week — for Nancy Pelosi. So good, in fact, that she and her leadership team felt the need to caution their House Democratic troops not to gloat over the fact that they had scored a clean win against the majority Republicans over raising the debt ceiling. But as the House Democrats met for their annual retreat in this Eastern Shore town, there was one subject the minority leader appeared determined to avoid: her grim prospects for regaining the speaker’s gavel in this year’s midterm elections. “That’s not

Belgium has just passed a law allowing euthanasia for children. The Low Countries allow for suicide and doctor-assisted suicide, but Brussels is the first to open to door to dealing death to children of any age. If the prospect of youngsters being helped to off themselves seems horrifying, do not worry – the law has “safeguards” to ensure all the killing will be purely voluntary: a psychologist has to certify that the child has “capacity or discernment” to understand what they are doing. Aside from its inherent significance, Belgium’s move requires us to revisit Roper v. Simmons, the 2005 Supreme

Democratic talking points gamely defend this as a good thing because these jobs are being given up voluntarily. Nancy Pelosi spoke lyrically about how Obamacare subsidies will

Pelosi explained why the law is “very sound policy” during a press conference Friday: To go to back to our founders once again, they sacrificed it all for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This law, the affordable care act, is about a healthier life, the liberty to pursue your happiness. That is solid policy, and the mandate is central to that. There´s a debate going on about Hillary Clinton´s past. If she runs for president in 2016, should Republicans reach back to the scandals of her years as First Lady? Or should they focus on more recent times, especially her tenure as Secretary of State, to build a case against her? The GOP doesn´t have to choose. Of course Clinton´s recent experiences are relevant to a presidential run. But so are her actions in the 90s, the 80s and even the 70s. It´s not ancient history; it reveals something about who Clinton was and still is. And re-examining her past is entirely consistent with practices in recent campaigns. In the 2012 presidential race,

The weirdest thing about John Kerry´s weekend speech on climate-change—other than the fact that this is the same guy who in 1997 voted to forbid the U.S. from signing the Kyoto Protocol—is that it begins by quoting something Maurice Strong said at the U.N.´s 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro: "Every bit of evidence I´ve seen persuades me that we are on a course leading to tragedy."
