Foreign Policy Hands Wonder: What’s
The Point Of Obama’s Syria Policy?

Buzzfeed, by Miriam Elder

Frederic Hof spent President Obama’s first term as the State Department’s point man on Syria. He is now a furious administration critic, and a symbol of the growing consensus in the professional foreign policy community that the Obama Administration — no matter how its last-minute detour through Congress turns out — has badly bungled its Syria policy through two years of popular uprising turned bloody civil war. “The events of the past ten days suggest that there was no administration forethought to the possibility of a major chemical incident in Syria,” wrote Hof, currently a fellow at the Atlantic Council, where

FTA: There is hope that in the interim Obama will outline his longer-term goals.

Why would they expect that? Obama does not HAVE longer-term goals when it comes to Syria.

He abandoned Iraq and forfeited Afghanistan and people think he should take up a new Mideast initiative?

I don´t think so.

Everything Obama touches turns to poison. Look at Egypt, look at Libya. He abandoned Iraq. He has messed up Afghanistan. I oppose military action in Syria. The rebels in Syria are backed by Al-Qaeda. I am sick and tired of our country going into other countries while our government will not even secure the border with Mexico.

Obama War Room: Assad from That, Everything’s Going According to Plan

: Trouble, sir. The Security Council has voted to support Syria’s resolution that a U.N. weapons inspection team be allowed aboard our ships in the eastern Med.
OBAMA: What? Why . . . ?
KERRY: Assad said he had hard intelligence that we were planning to use KWMD against his forces.
KERRY: Kinetic Weapons of Mass Destruction. The resolution passed 4-0. Even France and the UK folded.
OBAMA: Why didn’t Ambassador Power veto the . . . ?
KERRY: She was having her hair done when they took the vote, sir. And it gets worse.
OBAMA: Worse?
KERRY: The team inspecting our ships is headed by Mosen Baraz, head of Iran’s ´´Project to Employ Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Purposes Ha Ha Ha.´´
OBAMA: “Ha Ha Ha”?
KERRY: Iran’s not even trying to hide its intentions any more, sir.
OBAMA: Anything else?
KERRY: I’m afraid so. Yesterday, Senator Reid received a ten million signature petition demanding that an attack against Syria be the subject a national referendum. In a rare moment of comity, he and Speaker Boehner agreed to support the measure and establish a time-frame. They’re talking November.
OBAMA: November? Well, that’s not too . . .
KERRY: November 2014, sir. Takes a while to set those things up.
OBAMA: All right. Agree. What choice do I have? Go out and make some boilerplate statement about the wisdom of having 200 million Americans weigh in on the matter, that we’re taking the high road in order to . . .
KERRY: Assad, Kim-Yung-un, the Ayatollahs—they’ll laugh themselves silly at our paralysis, sir.
OBAMA: We counter it. Put out this statement in my name: ´´President Obama reserves the right to strike Syria at any time before the referendum in 2014 Ha Ha Ha.´´

He´s pulled out of Iraq, out of Afghanistan, toppled Libya, Egypt, now working on Syria- main goal: tacit support to Muslim Brotherhood and their spawn. That is the only answer that makes sense - as repugnant as it sounds. And it´s quite amazing the international stirring up it is causing - highlighting his behavior - be it amateurish, or calculated with the goal in mind of something worse than communism: Muslim facism.

Just send in Huma, armed with a few sordid pics of her [Jewish] husband, Weiner with the threat to disperse them far and wide throughout Syria (and then the greater Middle East - talk about starting a regional war) and w/o a shot being fired, Assad just may hand over the keys to his little Shi´a-backed kingdom.

If this fails, send in the wookie, she´ll scare them all senseless.

I cannot believe Ms. Elder asks the question, "What is the point of Obama´s Syria policy?"

The point is that Obama is doing what he always does: Avoiding responsibility for decision-making, abdicating responsibility so that others take the hit when something goes wrong, and finally, trying to make the GOP scapegoats when they say "no" to a Syria attack.

This isn´t rocket surgery.

The whole point of all of this, quite obviously, is our President covering his b--- and acting POLITICALLY. He does not give a d--- about the U.S., just Barack Obama and who he can blame next. This is what we get when we have a man with no qualifications and a dubious Chicago background elected solely so people can pat themselves on the back re: their racial "tolerance." Brilliant sagman, ha ha ha!

Unfortunately the point of all the Obammunist´s foreign policy is to weaken America so that he can become, in his imagination, dictator of the world. And no better way to weaken us than to support the twin serpents of communism and islamofascism, here and abroad, every day in every way.

Not a single action he has taken in 5 years does not support one of these goals.

If Obama says a strike would be limited and regime change is not the objective, just take it for granted that is exactly what his goal is. Anything he says should be read in opposite terms.

Sagman, thanks much for weighing in! To paraphrase Butch Cassidy after defeating one of his fellow gang members, you are what sustains us in our times of trouble.

Barky has no policy besides voting ´present´. Not to mention pretty much broadcasting the ATO [Air Tasking Order} to the entire world outlining where/when/how we are gonna strike. Element of surprise? Who needs it? Not to mention maybe having an OBJECTIVE, and criteria to determine when that objective is met.

The problem is this administration reacts - it doesn´t plan ahead. Ever new event surprises it because they´re all focused on the next celebration, party, performance, or golf outing that´s planned, not what the world might have unfolding. It´s utterly amateurs, and they´ve not learned a thing thru five years.

There´s no forethought, there´s no prior planning (let´s face it, there´s no plan at all!) and there´s no consideration given to what-ifs, which are what you avoid disaster with...

Isn´t it obvious? To save the Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood is in BIG trouble. They were was just thrown out of Egypt, and are being trounced in Syria by Assad. The Sunni islamofascists may not be able to recover if they lose Syria too. They are desperate. One needn´t bee a soothsayer to connect THESE dots.

Then there is the piece by Boadansky that Rush was talking about suggesting that the US may have had a hand in planning the false flag chemical attack and blaming it on Assad as a pretext to take him out.

Oh, and don´t believe the "no boots on the ground" lie. Oh, it´s a lie. Nothing that can be cited here, but it´s public if you look hard enough. We´re going in. To support al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood. Curiouser and curiouser.

The question should not be WHEN we go into Syria...but WHO used the sarin..

Consider the following and add them up. This chapter began in Benghazi….

The Obama Administration knew of WMD attack…three days before. But notified no one and did nothing. Why?

Rebels in both Syria and Egypt are AlQaeda, the most violent arm of Obama’s friends, the Muslim Brotherhood.

Same rebels took down Egypt and turned Egypt over to Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egypt began having Christians murdered and crucified under Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Morsi deposed, Obama threatens Egyptian military to reinstate Morsi or loose funding from America. Obama hid this threat from Americans. Why?

Syria with the rebels fighting and now armed by Obama/Brennan….also now has Christians murdered, raped, crucified and massive Chistian refugees.

Obama’s CIA annex in Benghazi was transferring weapons through Turkey to the AlQaeda rebels in Syria. Reported WMD and Stingers leave Benghazi annex to those rebels in Syria.

Rebels are in the process of a take down of Assad to turn Syria, like Egypt, over to the Muslim Brotherhood. The Arab Spring is but a Middle East communist winter.

Reports, with documentation, have leaked that Obama was paying off Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood with 1.6 billion and 450 million directly to Morsi.
The terrorist at Benghazi were recorded as saying “Dr. Morsi sent us”…The arms being transferred though Turkey were assisted by Erdogan, another Communist Muslim Brotherhood dog.
The attack on Benghazi was to kill the eyewitnesses to the illegal treasonous arms transfer to America’s enemies by her treasonous Muslim Communist president with the able assistance of, his Muslim director of the CIA , John Brennan.

Ever wonder where the Iraq WMD´s went? Anyone remember the convoy of trucks that Saddam Hussein sent to Syria before his regime was toppled by American forces? Any guess on what types of gas canisters were aboard? Did the press ever cover that? Where was Hillary sending the weapons gathered at the Benghazi compound? What message did Russia send before the attack which killed 4 Embassy personnel? Why do all roads carrying Stinger missiles and weapons of mass destruction lead to Syria? Is this all just another International Fast & Furious operation by Obama & Co.? Head´s up people. The alarms are sounding.

Please Note:

Syria is aligned with Russia and Iran.

Whether some in this country, in the CIA or the Pentagon think aligning with AlQaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood achieves power…. or anything else in America’s interests…against Iran…they are wrong.
Best consider Obama and his IslamoCommunist’s actions. Those actions have never been in America’s best interest.

Obama has decimated America’s navy…he then leads that crippled Navy to war against Russia and Iran.

Obama, as Christians have been murdered, raped, crucified and their 500 churches burned… first in Egypt then in Syria… has not uttered a peep of outrage much less a single word of dissatisfaction. For his constant blather on racism…his silence on the holocaust of Christians is deafening.

Obama cut the USA’s nuclear arsenal, gave the Russians the Brits codes, broke our military through his insane rules of engagement and is running the most capable patriotic talent of the hierarchy of our military, it’s best Generals and Admirals, out of the military. Obama has cut the Navy’s size back to 1917 levels..crippled the military through assigning the entire sequestration cut backs to the military budgets….demoralised the military, cut out hot meals… sent American steel (the works best steel) off shore through cash for clunkers to China (those same salvage yards were used by FDR to built war ships) ….

…And now that our world class military has been are crippled…. and Obama has armed our enemies ….he wants to take us into WWIII…stunningly treasonous.

Obama is shepherding this nation, it’s economy, it’s military, its people…To hell…to bankruptcy..to defeat ..

Stop him.

The sarin came from the rebels..,Why is the question now when we go to war, rather than WHO the WMD came from?

It´s a perfect WAG THE DOG scenario, times at least a million. Our muslim supporting imposter in chief, is providing the islamic warring supremacists another jihad opportunity. They just suffered, are still suffering, a monumental defeat in Egypt. Now their U.S. Islamic spy team, (jaret soros holder) can side with supremacist muslims in Syria, and TAKE THE HEAT OFF ALL OF NOBAMA’S CRIMES HERE IN AMERICA, AND ISLAMIC PAST CRIMES IN EGYPT (TWO FOR ONE). Could it be any more simple than that? The imposter’s Presidency is about to fall off the cliff and upset, destroy, all democrat and republican lies, they’re just minutes away from political suicide. BUT WAIT! Start a war, even siding with the filthy islamic supremacists and attempt to topple Syria´s leadership to BE REPLACED BY MORE MUSLIM TYRANNY. Nobama´s foul acts bring the disgraced muslims back into power. Rule: start a war, ANY war, and Obamacide, NSA IRS alien organizing, open borders, mass welfare, the fake Fed, trillions in debt, fast and furious, the worst, Hillary’s covered up Benghazi murders especially..... it all goes away with war. It’s a consistently horrifying as The Communist Party Line. They all agree.

I disagree with the author´s premise. What good did "back channels" ever do us? Some might say that helped, but the point is certainly arguable.

I do not want us meddling in the Middle East at all, and so, remarkably, I do not fault Obama for “sitting on the sidelines”. I just wish he would stay there now.

In a new book released today, Massachusetts Democratic senator and potential presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren attempts to rewrite history regarding the controversy surrounding her “Native American” ancestry that emerged in the 2012 Senate campaign. What’s remarkable is that, at least in the initial book reviews, the press largely allows her to get away with it. In fact, it’s virtually ignored that to this day Warren still refuses to release any law school records that may shed light on this controversy. To be fair, most reviews note that Warren has never substantiated her claims of Native American heritage, which is true.

There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. And anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on the fraud is either retaliated against or ignored, according to two new sources who have experienced the process firsthand. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey. After years of litigation, the Supreme Court on Monday said it would decide if Congress or the State Department has the final say in whether U.S. passports acknowledge Jerusalem as part of Israel. This touches on one of the most sensitive issues in decades of Middle East conflict, and the case also presents a major separation-of-power conflict between the legislative and executive branches. The controversy is over a 2002 law passed by Congress regarding passports. It says that a U.S. citizen born in Jerusalem may request his or her birthplace to be listed as Israel. Dyngus Day celebrations, to be staged Monday in Buffalo and a handful of other U.S. cities, trace their roots to ancient Polish fertility rites centered around the end of Lent and the advent of spring. As part of the festivities, young men traditionally splash water on women they fancy. Women carry pussy willow branches to hit the men they like. But this year, after an especially harsh winter, Dyngus Day organizers are worried that there won´t be enough

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Certainly he will have the resources to outlast, discredit, and disqualify his rivals.

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said a number of junior GOP senators considering a presidential run in 2016 do not yet have the experience — specifically naming Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas). The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don´t think they´ve got enough experience yet," Dole said. The 90-year-old former senator said, however, his main concern about 2016 is living

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

As he moves from lobbyists to the golf course, from press conferences to the tanning bed, he remains oblivious to all that is around him. He has power, incredible power, and yet to this day he has no understanding of the election that made it so. Moreover, all around him are astonishing opportunities for him to be an historic figure -- one who could and should be the man who did more than any other single person in turning back the red tide of Obama. It’s all there for Speaker of the House, and yet John Boehner manages to miss

Global sea levels have risen by 8 inches (20cm) since 1880 and scientists predict they could rise up to 3ft (98cm) by 2100. But despite the UN’s recent threats of war, famine and extreme weather, such a dramatically different world caused by sea level rise can be hard to imagine. To help picture the future, Martin Vargic, an amateur graphic designer from Slovakia, has created a map depicting the planet with sea levels around 260ft (79m) higher than they are today. He imagines what Earth would look like if the ice sheets surrounding the North and South poles melted, releasing

Joan Eisenstodt didn´t have a stopwatch when she went to see an ear, nose and throat specialist recently, but she is certain the physician was not in the exam room with her for more than three or four minutes. "He looked up my nose, said it was inflamed, told me to see the nurse for a prescription and was gone," said the 66-year-old Washington, D.C., consultant, who was suffering from an acute sinus infection. When she started protesting the doctor´s choice of medication, "He just cut me off totally," she said. "I´ve never been in and out from a visit faster." These days,

It may not be tomorrow, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says "something will happen" to force a Nevada rancher to obey a court order to stop grazing his cattle on federal land and pay his grazing fees. "It´s obvious that you can´t just walk away from this," Reid said in an April 18 interview with a Nevada´s KSNV-TV News 3 program “What’s Your Point?” "You can´t have a law that is -- we´re a nation of laws, not of men and women," he said. Harry Reid isn’t backing down from his claim that rancher Cliven Bundy’s supporters are “domestic terrorists.” It’s astonishing rhetoric given the White House’s characterization of the mass shooting by a genuine terrorist, Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 Americans at the Fort Hood Army base after yelling “Allahu Akbar!” (God is great.) Rather than labeling Hasan’s actions “domestic terrorism,” the Obama administration is prosecuting him for having committed “workplace violence.” Democratic rhetoric is become ever more desperate and overheated as we approach the November midterm elections. Last week, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said that GOP positions on immigration were motivated by

Because the Census Bureau’s surveys are scientific — meaning

Perhaps the most remarkable feature of American democracy is the magnificent estate of public land that it reserved from the very beginning for the use of all citizens, rich or poor. There is nothing like it in the democracies of Europe, which came into being with nations already carved up into private fiefdoms. The Great Idea that hundreds of millions of acres of forests, deserts, rivers and prairies should be owned by, and managed for, the public interest has had a profound and lasting influence on American culture. But not everyone has accepted it. Cliven Bundy’s armed standoff with the National Park

At a petite 5’3’’, Sage Santangelo may not look like a combat fighter at first glance. But the female second lieutenant has never let that hold her back from pursuing her dream of becoming an infantry officer in the Marine Corps. Growing up, Santangelo found she was always able to keep up with the guys and enjoyed playing hockey on all boys’ teams. But when she joined the Marines, Santangelo found the playing field changed; she was segregated into female-only training units and as a woman, was relegated to less strenuous physical training than her male counterparts. And that’s why,
