Syria: A Mystifying Lack
of US Preparedness

Atlantic Council, by Fred Hof

Original Article

Posted By:drive, 9/2/2013 9:11:44 AM

The decision of President Barack Obama to seek congressional approval for US military strikes in Syria is constitutionally sound, but strategically appalling. By not making it clear from the outset of the crisis that he would seek the approval of the Senate and House for a military response to the Assad regime’s chemical atrocity, the president’s jarring change of direction now runs the risk of thoroughly undermining whatever remains of allied confidence in his leadership. By not calling on Congress to return to Washington immediately the president conveys a sense of nonchalance that his newly discovered soaring rhetoric cannot disguise.

Seriously. This isn´t "just another Iraq". This is a decalaration of WAR on a sovereign nation. We will be voting on whether or not to launch an attack on a sovereign nation backed by Russia and China. We have zero support other than verbal, from anyone.

If we vote yes, we deserve what we get, from attacks on America, to a draft.

Just because the lapdog media isn´t disclosing thectruth, doesn´t excuse this country lacking the knowledge of past conflicts to understand this.

Bush went to Congress for that purpose, and got apptoval. Bush admitted to regime change. Obama denies it. He is intervening in a civil war. How is that different than WWII? Aside from the fact that we joined with other nations, there is no difference. We will go it alone. We get what we deserve.

We fight Al Qaida in two countries, still fighting them in Afghanistan, yet, we support them in Syria? Really?

We are playing Brinksmanship with not only Syria, but Russia and China. He is tempting fate of WWIII.

Yet, the media is calling it cute things, like a limited strike, just dropping a few bombs. Sure. Like we did in Germany? Like we did in Vietnam?

Best build your bunkers now, Russia and China are prepared to play. Are you?

As NewsBusters has been reporting for months, late night comics have been tearing the atrocious rollout of ObamaCare apart. Conceivably the best job done to date was by ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel who during his opening monologue Tuesday evening absolutely savaged the law whilst ridiculing the uninformed young people in this country that have ignorantly supported something that clearly harms them (video follows with transcript and commentary): JIMMY KIMMEL, HOST: The rollout of the Affordable Care Act continues to be terrible. First, there was technical problems with the Healthcare.gov website.

The individual mandate, Obamacare´s requirement that all Americans have health insurance that includes "minimum essential coverage," has been in effect for two weeks now. No one has noticed because nothing has happened. But it will. The mandate is the heart of Obamacare; without it, supporters believe, the system won´t work. So the Obama administration hopes millions of Americans will voluntarily comply with the mandate and purchase government-approved coverage. If they don´t do it voluntarily, they´ll be punished. Starting next year, the government will coll

LOS ANGELES — About 20 million DirecTV customers nationwide lost The Weather Channel because of a dispute over fees between the channel and the satellite service. The two companies pointed fingers at each other late Monday as a midnight EST deadline for renegotiation of carriage fees paid by DirecTV to The Weather Channel passed without an agreement. In a statement, David Kenny, CEO of the channel´s parent company, The Weather Co., said it offered DirecTV the best rate for its programming. Kenny accused the satellite provider of putting profits ahead of public safety. "We are not looking for a large fee increase," Kenny

Three Reminders that Obamacare

Obamacare has been getting better press lately, and rightly so. More people keep enrolling and, better still, more people are taking advantage of the law´s benefits. But not everything is hunky-dory, as three new stories make very clear. Story one is about people who signed up for insurance and are trying to use it. Some are showing up at drugstores, physician offices, and hospitals—only to discover that insurers don’t have records of their enrollments. A New York Times story, by Robert Pear and Abby Goodnough, reports on a few such stories, including at least two in which people have delayed getting

The AP says the translations on so poor that many users feel they were computer-generated. The name of the site, CuidadoDeSalud.gov, can be litterally read as “for the caution of health.”

Aides to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are pointing out that the Obama administration approved of the New Jersey tourism ads starring Christie and his family that a Democratic congressman has encouraged federal investigators to probe. Using federal relief money after Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the state of the New Jersey ran “Stronger than the Storm” ads promoting the state’s beaches. “The Stronger Than The Storm campaign was just one part of the first action plan approved by the Obama Administration and developed with the goal of effectively communicating that the Jersey Shore was open for business during the first

Brit Hume has himself a theory about why New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s got this nagging “bully” reputation hanging round his neck: it’s not his fault, see, he’s just a bull in the emasculated china shop of the world. “In this sort of feminized atmosphere in which we exist today, guys who are masculine and muscular like that in their private conduct, kind of old-fashioned tough guys, run some risks,” Hume said on Sunday’s Media Buzz. Even co-host Lauren Ashburn was a bit taken aback by that. “Feminized?” she asked.

The truth behind Obamacare 6 million figure

The Obama administration is trumpeting that 6 million people have health coverage thanks to Obamacare. "Now more than 6 million Americans have been enrolled in Marketplace or Medicaid coverage and are getting peace of mind, knowing that they can get the care they need without losing everything they´ve worked and saved for," wrote Phil Schiliro, who returned to the White House last month to oversee health care policy initiatives, in a blog post on New Year´s Day. But the numbers are somewhat misleading. Here are the figures: -- 2.1 million Americans signed up for private health insurance through the federal and state exchanges through the end of December.

"There is a need to focus on a broad array of issues and the Assembly is going to dedicate itself to finding the truth beyond the usual committee process."

By his own account, Mark Sokolich rarely asks people for anything. “When you ask,” he said, “you usually have to give.” And that is how he likes to govern as the mayor of Fort Lee, N.J., a dot of a borough perched atop the Palisades in the shadow of the George Washington Bridge. One day last spring, though, he was the person asked to give. A member of Gov. Black dogs don´t get as adopted as easily as others animals of other colors. The reason is largely because of some common misconceptions about them. Black dogs are mischaracterized as mean and potentially violent and according to NBC News. Black Dog Syndrome is a phenomenon in which dogs with black fur often go unadopted because of misinformed stereotypes. Black dogs are are euthanized at a much higher rate than dogs with different complexions. Many owners of black dogs say they are sweet, lovable, but also unwanted. The chances of being adopted are poor if you´re a black dog.
