Cruz: Congress Should Return
Early on Syria only if
Obama Calls them Back

Breitbart Big Government, by Matthew Boyle

In a statement he released on Saturday evening, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said in response to Obama’s Rose Garden remarks on Syria that he would support a move to bring Congress back early only if the President determined there was an urgent need to deal with the situation immediately. “Given that the President did not request an emergency session of Congress, that must mean that he agrees there is no imminent threat requiring the Commander in Chief to act without consulting the representatives of the American people,” Cruz said. Obama said on Saturday there is no urgent need to act

Ted, honey, don´t get all ´logical´ with these people. They really don´t know that dance. They feel embarrassed and they call you bad names. Remember: We are dealing with a culture that confuses rhyme with reason and conflates ´smooth´ with smart.

So, much as I agree with your point, I wouldn´t bother getting all Canadian with this crowd of statist/racist goons.

Ted Cruz is pretty much the de facto head of the Republican party right now, as the alleged leaders spend all of their time hiding under their beds, except of course when they slither out to attack the conservatives who got them elected.

First, Obambi can´t call Congress back. Only Congress can set its schedule. That is called separation of powers but since even the most hard core Rebublican has accepted that Obambi is dictator and chief, I can see why he would do Obambi´s calling.

One has to wonder what is extraordinary about calling congress back into session to vote on intervening with a foreign civil war that isn´t worth a drop of American blood?

A Florida jury found Michael Dunn guilty on three charges of attempted murder and firing a weapon into a vehicle Saturday in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Jordan Davis after a 2012 argument outside a Jacksonville convenience store over loud music. The jury did not reach a verdict on first-degree murder and a mistrial was declared on the charge. Dunn showed little emotion after the verdict came back from the jury of seven women and five men. He was convicted on three charges of attempted murder and firing a weapon into a vehicle. He is facing up to 75 years

Conservatives hoping to celebrate the departure of Attorney General Eric Holder might be in for a long wait. The attorney general’s position has looked perilous at various points during his tenure. But these days, he seems resurgent, pushing states to strike down voting restrictions on ex-felons and fighting hard to restore some of the key powers of the Voting Rights Act. It has been an uphill climb. In 2012, Holder became the first attorney general to be held in contempt by the House of Representatives while, the year before, he had to retreat from his earlier insistence that suspects in

Gaining the ‘freshman 15’ may no longer be the biggest nutritional issue facing some college students. A study recently published by the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior surveyed 354 students at Western Oregon University and found that 59 percent felt that they did not have enough access to affordable, healthy foods – a condition known as ‘food insecurity.´ As defined within the study, food insecurity is “the limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods, and limited or uncertain ability to acquire acceptable foods in socially acceptable ways.”

Portions of Russia’s defunct Kosmos-1220 satellite will come crashing back to the planet on Sunday following a fiery, uncontrolled descent through the Earth’s atmosphere, Russian officials said. Fragments of the former reconnaissance satellite are expected to survive the high-speed re-entry and will most likely plunge harmlessly into the Pacific Ocean, Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin told Russian news agency Ria Novosti. “As of February 7, 2014 the fragments are expected to fall on February 16. The exact impact time and location of the fragments from the Kosmos-1220 satellite may change due to external factors,”

In a statement issued on the 25th anniversary of the final Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan, a national holiday for Afghans, the Taliban sought to connect the steady departure of U.S. and NATO troops ahead of a year-end deadline to the end of the decade-long Soviet occupation. WASHINGTON- The number of U.S. soldiers forced out of the Army because of crimes or misconduct has soared in the past several years as the military emerges from a decade of war that put a greater focus on battle competence than on character. Data obtained by The Associated Press shows that the number of officers who left the Army due to misconduct more than tripled in the past three years. The number of enlisted soldiers forced out for drugs, alcohol, crimes and other misconduct shot up from about 5,600 in 2007, as the Iraq war peaked, to more than 11,000 last year. Famed former CNN host Larry King said he has never heard of Juanita Broaddrick Thursday in an interview with Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV. Broadrrick, a former Arkansas nursing home worker, accused President Clinton of raping her during the late 1970s in a 1998 Dateline interview. King interjected “Hold up, hold up. Stop! Bill Clinton was accused of rape?” Malzberg reacted

A growing group of Ted Cruz’s Republican Senate colleagues are infuriated with his tactics. CHATTANOOGA, TENN. — The UAW suffered a devastating defeat at Volkswagen’s plant here as workers rejected union representation by a 712-626 margin. The defeat, which came despite Volkswagen’s neutrality, tarnishes UAW President Bob King’s legacy and could make it next to impossible for the union to extend its reach beyond domestic automakers.
“While we certainly would have liked a victory for workers here, we deeply respect the Volkswagen Global Group Works Council, Volkswagen management and (German union) IG Metall for doing their best to create a free and open atmosphere for workers to exercise their basic human right to form a union,” King said in a statement.

At least every week now, there is a new story supporting the narrative of an inevitable 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential bid. Indeed, the conventional wisdom is that it is an absolute certainty that she will run. If anyone is currently saying, flat out, that Hillary isn´t running, I haven´t come across them. Is the inevitability of her run really as certain as the conventional wisdom suggests, and further, is it unfolding in an optimal manner for the potential candidate? In all likelihood, Clinton will not make a final, "go-or-no-go" decision until early next year, after the dust has settled from

The school of literary criticism known as reception theory holds that a text should be studied in light of its effect on its contemporaries, that a reader should be aware of the “horizon of expectations” in which a text is produced. I was reminded of this the other day as I observed, in amusement, fascination, and occasional pity, the reaction of the so-called mainstream media to Alana Goodman’s lengthy and rock-solid report on “The Hillary Papers.” This trove of previously unexamined transcriptions of conversations between Hillary Clinton and her best friend Diane Blair had been collecting dust at the University
