Krauthammer: Obama
miscalculation on Syria could
result in ´major regional war´

Daily Caller, by Jeff Poor

Original Article

Posted By:Donttaxmebro, 8/30/2013 10:10:03 PM

Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer predicted on Friday that should President Barack Obama make a misstep when dealing with Syria, he could spark a “major regional war.” In his column published in Friday’s Washington Post, Krauthammer alluded to the “guns of August,” a reference to 1914 and the build-up that led to the start of World War I. That reference was a comparison to the current situation in Middle East involving Syria and a pending U.S. strike over the use of chemical weapons, and how those seemingly isolated events could unfold into something bigger.

Comments:
The guns of August are upon us per the good doctor...

It´s called WWIII, without competent commanders.

If WWII was run this way, we would be speaking German and Japanese.

At first I thought that this scam had to do wiht obama´s love of the Muslim Brotherhood (and Hillary´s girlfriend), then, maybe, just kill the Jews. Now I am wondering if this is just smoke to cover the collapse when the FED stops injecting the economy (QE)

I now favor the last as most likely.

So far it appears that the politician who has it right on Syria is Sarah Palin when she said "Let Allah sort it out" over there in Syria.

Surely Allah will have a better chance of directing who will win the civil war after the smoke clears, then a bunch of infidels bombing Islamic land and causing all sorts of unintended consequences.

I wouldn´t be surprised if Syria has secret agreements with both Iran and North Korea. If one gets attacked, they all go on the rampage.

The problem is Obe is trying to stand in for Allah without the authority.
Should we consider the red line wasn´t intended for Assad but was been drawn to warn the Brotherhood and assorted terrorist which side if the line is to be their safety zone?
Get thee behind the line and prepare to invade after the blitz.

Dr. K. is right of course. Miscalculation is a real danger. Putin would probably fume but hold back. And Iran?

It is very dangerous to think the other side will agree with your logic and thus do what you expect and prefer.

No blood for ego! Obama is desperately trying to appear like he knows what he´s doing. He may think he is showing Assad a thing or two, but he has sorely miscalculated. He may as well put his hands on his hips and say, "I´m going to count to three, and if you don´t put those chemical weapons down, you´re going to go to time out! One...two...three." Of course, that will fail. He is not respected. Has no strategy, and evidently has no allies. His bluff has been called.

It seems that Obama would be better off if he called off the missile attack and, instead, just sent the IRS into Syria to audit Assad.

Although what Dr. K is saying now is cogent and logical, I

look upon him with angst at recalling the elitist attitude he

held back in the primaries. I will never forget watching

the Bret Baier panel on FOX as he droned on against the

"non-seriousness" of candidates such as Alan West,

Michele Bachman and Rick Santorum. I would take ANY

one of them to this snake we have occupying our WH today.

AND .....his putting down of Sarah Palin was revolting. I do not hold him in as high esteem anymore.

Rather then shooting missiles and dropping bombs on Syria to little effect, Obama would be much better off sending a lot of atropine injectors over there to the rebels, then if there is another nerve gas attack, they can use the atropine to neutralize the effect of the gas as the US military does.

I guarantee you the only thought that has entered his mind is ´how does this make me look ?´ The cost in Human life and the fate of our country have not crossed his mind in terms other than how it effects what people think of him. That such a man should have control over so many and so much and not a clue as to consequences because there have never been any for him.

Obama already has his peace prize in the bag so he can start World War III. Where are all the peaceniks anyway. Hiding behind Kerry as he makes the case for this war. Where are the calls for UN and Congressional approval? Will Biden have Obama impeached if he goes ahead. Leftists are showing everything they ever said to be a lie!

Obama is/was a miscalculation by a long incompetent and foolish American electorate. You would think that four years of this blithering idiot would have alerted some people to the fact that the American dream was in jeopardy. Fifty-five percent of women voted for Obama and ninety-six percent of Blacks did the same.

Meanwhile the powers that be have talked people who actually have jobs to go on strike against an employer who can fill those same jobs with other obviously smarter people who need jobs. This is a good move in an economy with 50 million people on some sort government assistance?

Now along came Syria. An Administration with a record of continuous scandals, is gearing up for a war against a country they claim gassed their own people. They can´t prove it, the UN can´t verify it, they are still testing to determine the possibility it was even gas. Please be serious for a moment. Why would Assad gas his own people. Right now he is winning the war against the Obama supported Brotherhood and Russia is looming in the background.

Now we learned today that our Military is broke and can´t afford to go to war. These are the people who are supposed to protect us, not be used cover-up the scandals of a crooked Administration

Why does TSA have 1.6 billion disappeared rounds of ammo and our Military is incapable of fighting a war. When do the impeachment proceedings start. Some things must even be apparent to liberals by now, but I have my doubts.

A reminder...the enemy you should be most concerned about is the one who is NOT publicly shouting that they´re about to wage war on you.

Am I the only one unsettled by the eerie quiet after the closing of those 20+ embassies a few weeks ago? Was the threat a ruse, a head fake? I´m beginning to think it wasn´t. And I´m pretty sure they weren´t just talking about blowing up some remote embassy in Nowherestan.

Think about what the top Al Qaeda leaders were conferencing about..."changing the course of history." No. It´s absurd to think they were talking about embassies. They had to be thinking much bigger.

My guess is that they finally have access to one or more nukes. And now they´re planning how and when to use them. Waiting...waiting for just the right moment to use them. Like in retaliation for our strike on another muslim country.

Obama has stuffed his administration full of political hacks, people who will walk face-first into a wall to advance his domestic political agenda, then turn around and say, "The Republicans put that wall there."

He was leader enough to know he needed people around him who understand history, global relations, economics, science, education... you name it. His people know nothing of this.

Now, we´re all paying the price of have the kindergarteners running the show.

It´s already a proxy war. Syria is a Sunni vs Shia battlefield and much more. Iran, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel and the gulf states all have strategic interests. There is also a fight for control of oil and natural gas. Throw in Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaeda and it´s truly a powder keg. I can guess which side Obama comes down on (Turkey and Saudi Arabia) but he needs to either make his case or stand down.

OTOH, I´m not convinced this "chemical attack" was not a Gulf of Tonkin incident. I have no trust in the current leadership and the American people will be the last to know. I´d like to dream we are using a head fake to build up forces to tackle Iran. But then I wake back up.

"he could spark a ´major regional war.´”

Sigh. For the past five years those in the know on the right, from Rush to Hannity to Coulter to D´Souza to Beck to .... have been crying from the rooftops that Obama is a dangerous statist globalist who hates America. So why do we continue to fall back on old thinking and the expectation that he would conduct foreign policy to promote AMERICAN interests?

Think the unthinkable. What if a major regional war in the middle east is the OBJECTIVE? Chaos. Anarchy. Destruction. Internally, think Egypt, Libya. Externally, Iran and Israel exhaust themselves destroying each other. And out of the conflagration emerges ... the Muslim Brotherhood.

Sure it´s crazy. But nationalizing 17% of the US economy with Obamacare is crazy. Spending and borrowing more than is possible to ever pay back is crazy Throwing open the southern border and giving free passes to illegal alien children is crazy.

Watch Putin. He knows who these people really are, how they think, and what he is seeing. He has the KGB file on each of them.

So many articles about the insanity of BHO, the dire warnings of his folly, and the lawlessness of it all. So much sound and fury about his stupidity. Got it, he´s an idiot, he´s dangerous, and he´s destroying America. Got it.
What I am missing is what anyone is going to do about it? Where are our checks and balances, where are our sage leaders that will lead us out of this mess? Silence seems to predominate from our side. Our Speaker of the House squeaks like a helpless little mouse how he is powerless to do anything and sends out letters from the safety of his hole. Our Senators wring their hands because they are a minority which I guess somehow precludes all thought and action of leadership. Fire up the impeachment engine, let him know we mean business if he pulls this stunt; that we won´t wait a day. Use the Court. This is the exclusive power of Congress. Cut him off before he acts. Do something besides sit there watching and pointing fingers. They act like he is the king.

BHO is supposed to give a speech on Syria at the Rose garden but is running half hour late. The sad part is that this war is started on a false premise, for it was al-Queda that had Sarin gas escape from one of its storage tunnels by accident, apparently.

After we destroy Syrian infrastructure and Assad falls, who will govern? Why is Israel so quiet about this? And Iran?

After seeing Obie´s and Bite Me´s announcement earlier that they have decided they want to launch an attack in Syria, then almost in the same sentence to say, but will "allow" Congress to decide, just illustrates Obie´s timid and unsure approach to leadership, if you want to call his actions as "leadership". Obie decided he wants to combine Syria with the upcoming budget fight so can get him some leverage.

During an interview with conservative talker Laura Ingraham on Tuesday, Sen. Mike Lee defended the much-criticized “defund Obamacare” strategy that he and Sen. Ted Cruz are spearheading. “My job, Laura, is to do everything I can to protect the people from bad law and bad policy, which we have in Obamacare,” Lee said. “I can’t look at this and say because this law is unpopular, because this law is going to be rejected ultimately by the American people as unworkable, and because that could inure to the benefit of the Republican Party, that justifies me in staying

On Dennis Miller’s radio show on Monday, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer said that because of American weakness in the Middle East, “the chances of an Israeli strike on Iran have risen, are probably double.” Krauthammer, author of “Things That Matter: Three Decades of Passions, Pastimes, and Politics,” called the United States’ position in the region “the weakest” in memory and blamed that on President Barack Obama. “We’re the weakest we’ve been in the region in memory,” he said. “The big deal in the region was 1970, when Egypt kicked out the Soviets and aligned itself

On Saturday on the Fox News Channel, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton harshly criticized President Barack Obama handling of the United States’ involvement in Syria, calling him the weakest president since James Buchanan, Abraham Lincoln’s predecessor. “This is absolutely stunning,” Bolton said. “I’ve been trying to fill in the blank of the following sentence: ‘Barack Obama is the weakest president since…’ And I have to say, the best I can come up with is James Buchanan who watched the country dissolve into the Civil War. We’re watching the collapse of American influence in the Middle East

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?
