Union Front Groups Agitate

Washington Free Beacon, by Bill McMorris

Original Article

Union front groups turned out hundreds of fast food workers from dozens of cities demanding union representation and $15 minimum wages. Service Employees International Union, one of the largest Democratic special interest groups, and activists with Restaurant Opportunity Center, a nonprofit union front group, inspired the mass demonstrations that closed down fast food joints from New York City to San Francisco. Restaurant advocates blasted the pseudo-populist movement, accusing the activists of representing a fraction of employees at the expense of the majority of workers. “The unions are driving this and they’re using front groups to stage these protests to do things that would

I almost never eat fast food because I think too much of it only technically qualifies to be called food. I despise unions and SEIU in particular but McDonalds, YUM Brands, etc. should be big enough to fight the SEIU on an even field. I´ll grab an apple and just watch this one from the sidelines.

Fast food isn´t good for you. Fast food restaurants are nasty dirty and reflect the quality of the employees. The cleanliness of both the facilities and employees leave much to be desired. $15.00 an hour isn´t going to chance this or their attitudes either. They will still be discourteous, get your order wrong and spit in your burger if given the chance.

Minimum wage workers are hurting because of $4 gas, rising food prices, and rent. These workers are not able to protect themselves from the money printing and inflation caused by Democrat deficit spending. These workers should be marching on Democratic headquarters and demanding their heads, but they are ignorant and susceptible to the lies of the Democrats and their union thugs.

A map was published showing the places where there were strikes. Several on the east coast, several on the west coast, several in the Michigan upper midwest area, one in Florida where I live. From the position on the map I think it was Tampa.

If I owned a franchise and the employees struck I would fire every one of them and rehire the next day. That´s what Reagan did with the air controllers.

Honolulu police officers have urged lawmakers to keep an exemption in state law that allows undercover officers to have sex with prostitutes during investigations, touching off a heated debate. Authorities say they need the legal protection to catch lawbreakers in the act. Critics, including human trafficking experts and other police, say it´s unnecessary and could further victimize sex workers, many of whom have been forced into the trade. Police haven´t said how often — or even if — they use the provision. And when they asked legislators to preserve it, they made assurances that internal policies and procedures are in place to

In the Washington media world, there’s no more rarefied spot, both for the host and the guests, than that of the network Sunday morning shows. So why are they so predictable, and predictably boring? Most members of Congress would kill to be interviewed on one of the shows, since getting such an appearance instantly brands you as an important person whose opinions are worth listening to. But “Meet the Press,” the oldest and most venerated of the shows, has been struggling of late, falling behind “This Week” and “Face the Nation” in the ratings, leading to some rumors about David Gregory’s

If you lease a car, don´t think you can get out of payments just because you´re dead. Death, it turns out, is considered "early termination" of your contract, and that can mean thousands of dollars in penalty fees. Sally Shafton, 81, learned this recently after her husband, Bob, died of prostate cancer. She now faces charges totaling $2,352.72 from Toyota Financial Services. Her husband had leased a brand-new Prius from Manhattan Beach Toyota a year ago. What could Vladimir Putin’s seizure of Crimea possibly have to do with the upcoming midterm elections in the United States? Indirectly, a very great deal. But only indirectly. It has become the most conventional of conventional wisdoms that American voters have tired of controversies beyond our shores, like Crimea. They want to focus on problems at home, not to get involved in what a notable figure of the 1930s described in a different context as “a quarrel in a faraway country between people of whom we know nothing.” This opinion is supported by an undeniable sea-change in the nation’s attitude toward military

To do that effectively, one would actually have to maintain something of a consistent level of attention to the moving pieces that directly influence how future events will unfold. None other than the truly sycophantic thinks for a second that President Obama cares a whit for anything that does not involve fundamentally altering the social composition of this country. Or golf.
