Is this Martin Luther King’s legacy?
National Mall covered in garbage

Washington Times, by Emily Miller

The day after thousands rallied to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s March on Washington, the National Mall looks like a trash dump. The grass from the Lincoln Memorial to the World War II Memorial is covered Sunday with empty soda cans, water bottles, boxed lunches, newspapers, a broken chair and rally signs. The Reflecting Pool also was filled with trash. Although the trash cans were full along the expanse, the attendees did not attempt to leave their garbage near the bins. Instead, they left everything on the grass where they stood. On Saturday, prominent Democrats such as Attorney General

A friend of mine used the word ´feral´ to describe the hip-hop and rap generation that Jackson, Sharpton and their ilk have created. Entitlement, multigenerational welfare, racism, crime and poverty are not what Dr. King would have expected from his work and sacrifice.

Perhaps the National Mall should change its permit application process to include a cash bond for the estimated cost of cleaning rubbish, to be refunded if the Mall is left in pristine condition.

Then, groups like Glenn Beck´s Restoring Honor Rally could donate the refund to charity, and "progressive" or "liberal" groups would see their money paid to sanitation workers.

Bill the NAACP and CBC for the full clean-up costs, 75/25.

Decent taxpayers shouldn´t have to pay for it. That mess isn´t theirs, but it is volitional. And traceable.

[Say, who paid for those temporary fences? And that Photo 1 power chair? And how many of those attending were or are fed and housed thanks to gov´t taking money from decent taxpayers, the taxpayers´ money, money they should have for their own families?]

As to "statehood"... yeah, right.

But "statehood" supporters could have statehood tomorrow -- move to Maryland. And D.C. as a state would be as successful as Detroit or Camden as a city.

#15: I treat everyone the same. That is, the way they "tell" me they deserve to be treated. Well, OK, quite a few toward one end of that scale don´t really get all they really deserve.

Responsibility and accountability are inbred - parents teach it to their children "by example"!

The Tea Party always displays courtesy, reaching out to others with good will, not condemnation/control!

This group needs to "grow up" and display character, not just expect acceptance because their leaders "demand" it.

America is for all citizens.

We have lost our inner resolve to love each other as Christ loves us, forgave us of "all" our sin if we only submit to His sovereignty. That´s what is missing! True Faith has been denied, power of government has replaced God´s provision.

The time is coming when Jesus will return. Then we will know who is right when He separates the sheep from the goats, being the Good Shepherd, He knows his flock, will deliver US from all evil that has been and is now being activated through the power of Satanic influence on those willing to defy God´s Word - Love one another as I have loved You! The GOP has been hijacked. That’s right, hijacked. Over the past 100 years, an elite progressive minority has taken the Republican Party far afield from its conservative platform and the interests and values of its grassroots conservative base. I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. We are angry at the disrespect shown to limited-government constitutional conservatives

Hillary Clinton´s upcoming memoir, which is expected to look back at her time as secretary of State, now has a name: Hard Choices. Which is an okay title! She no doubt had to make some tough decisions while at State, and has at least one big decision to make coming up in the next year or so. But the former Cabinet member and possible future presidential candidate may have been better served by a different title—like, say, Tough Decisions. Because Hard Choices has already been used. Regardless of how people feel about Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s standoff with the federal Bureau of Land Management over his cattle’s grazing rights, a lot of Americans were surprised to see TV images of an armed-to-the-teeth paramilitary wing of the BLM deployed around Bundy’s ranch. They shouldn’t have been. Dozens of federal agencies now have Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams to further an expanding definition of their missions. It’s not controversial that the Secret Service and the Bureau of Prisons have them. President Obama is suddenly upset about the alleged wage gap between men and women, but he´s not responding to a national economic crisis. Instead, he is attempting to revive the "war on women" theme that, according to Washington wisdom, helped carry Democrats to victory in 2012 and might do again in 2014. If this narrative were true, the White House could spend the year demonizing Republicans as women-hating creeps, driving women to the polls in November and helping the party hold the Senate. But the conventional analysis isn´t accurate. National exit polls from 2012 show scant success for the war-on-women

Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. Though the story has only grabbed national headlines in the past several days, rancher Cliven Bundy has illegally grazed cattle on the Nevada land surrounding his farm for over 20 years. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. Unfortunately, reality doesn’t work this way. If only it did—we could rebel for paying stupid taxes, refuse to

In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

With Easter soon approaching, the Rev. Al Sharpton on Wednesday drew parallels between the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of President Obama’s political career. Joining the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Mr. Sharpton said that his message for this Easter is that “no matter what the world may do to you unfairly, no matter how you’re crucified — nailed to the cross at home, or in your personal relationships, or on the job — that you can rise if you don’t lose yourself during the hard times and the challenges.” The reverend went on to say that Christ endured so much humiliation and unearned suffering leading up to his death,

Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The
