Washington - U.S. intelligence officials are still trying to determine whether Syrian President Bashar Assad unleashed a deadly chemical weapons attack against his people earlier this week. That´s the word from the White House after President Barack Obama met with his national security team Saturday to discuss possible next steps in Syria. Officials have said Obama will decide how to respond once the facts are clear. A statement from the White House about Saturday´s meeting said Obama also received a detailed review of the range of options he has requested for the U.S. and its international

"Meeting" early enough for 0bama to still play golf, later. Will that be reported, as our forces are moved closer to Syrian border?

Good to see Barry on top of things on the international stage.
What a wondrous man... able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq, content to send young American men and women to Afghanistan to die for a war in which he has set a timetable for defeat, able to sleep soundly (without an Ambien) through a bloody night in Benghazi in which his U.S. ambassador and three other courageous Americans died, sided with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt as they attempted to eradicate all Christians in that country (currently flip-flopping in this arena) . His face should be etched on Mount Rushmore. Certainly no one could expect that he could crown his accomplishments with any action in Syria.
Truly wondrous!!

I didn´t know we had a national security team, rather a gathering of incoherent dead beats on the campaign trail handing out Obama phones. Not one of them knows where Syria is located and they think the gas attack was caused by one of the Wookie´s bean salads.

CBS News this evening made a big deal about Barry taking time out of his typical daily play
and Reggie cuddle time to meet for 3 hours ( 3 hours !! )
to discuss Syria using WMD.
3 hours is about 2 hours and 55 minutes longer
than Barry´s typical working day, that´s why it´s such a big deal.

How does President Gutsy Call have time for Syria when he´s so busy holding the real culprits in Benghazi to account? Oh, wait...

If President Gutsy Call was asleep - dreaming about fairness, we safely assume - during the Benghazi attack, where was he when chemical weapons were unleashed in Syria? Trick question: we´ve learned from the hard-hitting MSM that there are not nor can ever be WMDs in the Middle East (except for rogue-state Israeli nukes).

If, as President Gutsy Call has proclaimed, the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam, isn´t he down for the struggle for Syria´s Islamist future?

With so many tough foreign policy questions these days, it´s comforting to know we have a Leftist in the Oval Office - Leftists have such a proud history of getting things right, and making the right Gutsy Calls.

You have to laugh at the idea that the media takes this so called meeting seriously. We´ve heard two different stories in the BinLaden attack. One that they had to call him off the gold course and secondly,he may have been playng spades with Reggie.

He was too gutless to watch the video feed,in case something went wrong, which shows someone else gave the attack order, not him.But after everything turned out OK he went on a world tour spiking the football about it.

Obama has skated by for 5 years by keeping his fingerprints off anything that could go wrong. He´s not going to take unilateral action against Syria. What he´s trying to do is assemble a CYA crowd of different countries he can pass the buck to if things go wrong.

I don´t think Assad is stupid enough to gas people when he knows it would make a door opener excuse for Obama to attack.

i couldn´t disagree more, #12. i believe Assad has made a calculated decision that Obama, even should he do something, will not act decisively. which is worse for he knows he can pretty much act with impunity now as Nerobama has fiddled his way through the burning of Syria. let this human destruction be on Obama´s conscience since he did nothing of consequence to stop it, along with the innocent soldiers sent to slaughter through his strategy in Afghanistan, along with the foreign service / CIA employees in Benghazi left to die without his opening one eye/lifting one finger to help, etc. let me stop before i ruin my Sunday.

How do we know that it is the Syrian government using the gas. It could be the rebels. In that case, what are we to do? Plus, you have 100,000 Russian troops on the ground. And the US through Benghazi may have been supplying the rebels. The pro Obama muslims are out to overthrow Syria. If you were Assad what would you do....end up like Quadaffi? I don´t think he wants to go that route.
Let these muslims have at one another. America has no business in Syria. Regardless the deaths.
America needs to worry about America and our imminent destruction and deaths inside our own fake borders.

The chemical attack in Syria is surely a momentous act by someone (hard to say who at this point) to draw western and especially US forces into the fight on behalf of the rebels.

I doubt that Assad wanted to draw these forces into the fight. It doesn´t make sense, even if you argue that he´s trying to finesse Obama somehow; too dangerous.

Obviously the Islamic fundamentalist rebels would love increased US involvement and support.

Foreign Al Qaeda fighters would love to get US aid in this fight. This is a great way to arm and fund Al Qaeda in general.

The Russians could have done this in order to deliver a military defeat for Obama and the US to cement their hegemony in the Middle East.

Perhaps the Obama government wants to enter the fight to get US citizens to rally around the sagging President during a time of war.

Regardless of who committed this monstrous crime, it´s clear they want the US to fight, thus we should not.

With his popularity figures sinking into the low forties Barry play this Syria thing for maximum political advantage to himself to the exclusion of all other concerns. He knows anytime the American military is brought to the fore, American citizens usually rally to their leader. He will also be concentrating on minimizing risk, risk to him politically, that is.

National Interest and Good of the Country are not terms in his playbook. His Interest and His Good will out.

President Obama on Friday signed into law a bill authored by Texas Republican Sen. "Acts of espionage and terrorism against the United States and our allies are unquestionably problems of the utmost gravity, and I share the Congress´s concern that individuals who have engaged in such activity may use the cover of diplomacy to gain access to our Nation," Obama said in his signing statement. He claimed he´d swallowed the lid of a bottle in an act of anger during a marital dispute, and was given an x-ray. Twelve bars of gold weighing nearly 400g were found in the man´s stomach and removed. The BBC reports that police and customs authorities had questioned the businessman and confiscated the gold.

Months of tension between Qatar and its neighbors came to a head last month when Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) withdrew their ambassadors. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. I began reading the entirety of the first section of the New York Times at nine years old, and continued that practice, more or less, for decades.(snip) ...the power of reverence, intrinsic to what I call the “cascade” of The Times: the near avalanche-like flow and distribution of information through electronic and print networks: through like-minded network newscasts, magazines, local newspaper s, blogs, daytime talk TV, late-night entertainment, statements at media award ceremonies, the celebrity Twitterverse, etc. The cascade rolls through Saturday Night Live, Jon Stewart, The New Yorker, the mouths of third-grade teachers, Elmo, Madonna and Susan Sarandon …through

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal

The Clintons had a busy night of celebrations after Chelsea announced she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting a baby. Bill joined “House of Cards” star Kevin Spacey at the Revlon Rainforest Fund Benefit Concert at Carnegie Hall Thursday, joking of Spacey’s Machiavellian character, “When I was president people accused me of murder all the time, made a show of investigating. Spacey’s president for 15 minutes and he gets away with murder.” Spacey, who sang during the event with Sting, Stephen Stills and James Taylor, also showed off his Johnny Carson impression, taking a swipe at the coverage of Flight
