Scientists from the world´s premier climate-change research panel are preparing to once again promise the world that they believe—in fact, they´re really pretty sure—that human beings are causing global warming. But if past is prologue, the new report will do exactly nothing to increase the American public´s confidence in man-made climate change. The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change next month will release its latest assessment of the state of the science on climate change. And in a draft of the report that leaked last week, the panel of more than 800 experts states they are now 95 percent
Comments: Be sure to read the comments at the end. While the authors do the requisite lefty hand-wringing and indirect name-calling of we "skeptics", 99% of the commenters tell them they and all AGW adherents are full of it.
These experts told us that the science was settled, and not only were temperatures going to rise, they were going to climb exponentially. They were totally wrong. In the world of real science, these guys would be laughed to scorn, but this isn´t science, it is progressive alarmist tripe.
800 people who went out on a limb and stated for no statistical reasons that they were 90% sure the last time state that they are even more sure based on the data that there´s been no warming with even higher emissions. At last we have proof - that they´re desperately making their "percentages" up.
The odor of an old tuna can hangs heavy over these people. Wasn´t it this UN group that admitted (after they were caught and tried to ruin the Indian scientist revealing their falsehoods)that they had published false data on glaciers melting, in the Himalayas, "because it was useful to prod decision-makers"???
My scientist friends are embarrassed by those who sell out to government and political groups. The universities are full of traitors and global warming, cooling, changing or warning or what ever the latest buzz word is sell outs. Po Bo the most transported canine in Democrat wh pResidency reign could write a better paper can those traitors. Note: Bo and his new girl friend havenot expressed a political preference.
The casual observer doesn´t really see much going on. I sure don´t. Sometimes it´s hot, sometimes it´s not.
We are well past the ´boy who cried wolf´ stage in the game. These jet-set, conference-goers have been spreading alarm for 20 years and have no believability. Take a look at this month´s National Geo cover - with Lady Liberty standing in 200 meters of risen ocean. Maybe we have finally jumped the shark.
The United States was founded by people who rejected the concept of royalty and who wanted future generations to be free to worship or not worship.
0bama worshippers and Gorebots are free to worship each other and Mother Earth or Gaiea, but Americans generally do not treat tax-funded academics as being more objective, noble or omniscient than the average citizen.
We know you´re lying because every one of you Climate Change "Scientists" is a liberal toad who are enthralled by the idea of firm, hard government control of everything and who are also in need of those hefty government grants to fund your cushy academic lifestyles. Is it Man´s fault that Mars is heating up, too!? Somebody really needs to take these scientists to the woodshed. I, for one, am tired of their shrieking about it and how only the United Nations and a lot of taxes can magically fix it.

Sciences: Rigorous, systematic approach, designed to eliminate bias and other subjective influences in the search, identification, and measurement or validation of facts and cause-effect relationships, and from which scientific laws may be deduced.
The climate change fanatics are no longer scientists--they´re stooges who´ve been bought off by Big Green, which is arguably the most misanthropic political movement in history, even outdoing Naziism, communism, and Islamism in lethality. If one considers how large the earth´s total ecosystem is, then considers the centrailty of the sun´s effect on the earth, it´s difficult to see how mankind could have anything but a tangential effect. Besides, as long as the two most populous nations on earth, India and China, refuse to knuckle under to Big Green and continue throwing together about one new coal-fired power plant per week, our efforts to restrain so-called greenhouse gases are wholly punitive. All humanity and nature can do is to adapt to the prevailing climate. Politicians and greedy businesses are to blame for warping climate science at large, which doesn´t deserve to get back its credibility during our lifetimes. Yes, there are many reputable scientists in the field, but they´re not getting much mainstream coverage, and we´re being fed a bunch of misleading garbage by the Gorons.
During the Cold War, the US and Soviet Union conducted above ground Hydrogen bomb explosions prior to the 1963 Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. The US conducted 216 such explosions (154 Megatons total), the Russians 214 (282 Megatons total), France 46, Red China 23, Great Britain 21, and even South Africa conducted 1.
The Russians hold the record for the largest explosion with the Tsar Bomba of Dr. Andrei Sakharov. It measured 50 Megatons, but was originally supposed to be double that. He backed it down from what the government wanted fearing catastrophic atmospheric effects. It also would have incinerated the bomb crew who dropped it, who barely survived the 50Mt device.
These thermonuclear explosions produced massive atmospheric heat, incinerating everything for miles around, and sending huge dust clouds miles into the air.
So, where in our planet´s "thermal record" is there evidence these huge energy releases took place? Can these so-called "climate scientists" justify a carbon dioxide theory for a minuscule global heat rise when they can´t even find evidence of known large ones? The same can be said for large volcanic eruptions, which released even more energy into the atmosphere, yet cooled the planet through high-altitude, global, dust clouds.
...yes, more and more of the public don´t care, but that same public is less and less in control of it´s gov´t officials. And those same official´s solution is to take mo of our money and distribute to those most affected by this phony crisis...who just happen to be dem voters and contributors. They offer no solution but to shake down it´s constituents for more cash to pass around. And yet, 9 of 10 on the left buy this tripe.
Once upon a time in a school far away I was taught something called the scientific method. It was defined as "a method or procedure that has characterized natural science since the 17th century, consisting in systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of hypotheses.
Funny thing today the hypothesis = truth. Scientists can neither prove climate change nor can they prove evolution!
Like the lady said "where´s the beef"? I say "where´s the proof?" Not the Hypothesis, the proof!
They still can´t explain the Medieval Warm Period using their theories and projections. Was that caused by all the candles lit by monks so they could say evening vespers? In that era (around the year AD 1100), life improved across most of Europe. When the climate cooled, famine and disease became rampant.
Only the IPCC can take a bunch of scientific reports that say one thing and summarize it into something that says something completely different.
Every time the IPCC goes through this process they retreat from their original hysterical projections, the ones that Algore still pushes, more and more. If we keep at it another couple decades maybe we will get closer to the reality that climate changes largely independently of man´s actions. That warming, if it exists, is being caused by natural phenomena that dwarf man.
And BTW IPCC, scientific speculation is NOT scientific fact!
Just to make it clear, the IPCC is nothing but a bunch of political hacks and their toadies who have been consistently wrong when they haven´t been lying, about the possible causes and effects of "climate change"! They are an embarrassment to real scientists.
Bull Pucky!! Al Gore made over a BILLION dollars on this scam. He was going to replace the forests of equatorial Africa and South America. Yeah right! No one has ever seen evidence of a single tree being planted by him. They are starting the same old scam.
The CMA show tonight was great fun. It started with “Obamacare By Morning,” as Scott noted a little while ago. (And, by the way, if you don’t know George Strait’s Amarillo By Morning you are missing out, here it is.) Throughout the show, various wags tweeted under the hashtag #obamacountrysongs. Lots of them were pretty funny. Here are some samples that barely scratch the surface: * I Walk the Lie * Coward of the Country * I Used To Be a Coal Miner’s Daughter, But Daddy’s Unemployed * Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Democrats * Thank Allah I’m a Commie Boy * Benghazi’s
The decision in 1967 to feature a harpsichord behind Linda Ronstadt on "Different Drum" wasn´t a stretch. Throughout the decade, the high-strung keyboard was enjoying a renaissance, appearing on dozens of pop hits and soundtracks—including the Beatles´ "Fixing a Hole," the Beach Boys´ "God Only Knows," "The Addams Family" TV theme and "The Odd Couple" film score. Reasons for using the fussy instrument by rock, pop and R&B producers varied. Some sought a novelty touch while others wanted to be in step with London´s colorful Edwardian fashion trend and the psychedelic scene that came with it. But the harpsichord´s ´60s
Knit one, purl … eight-plus hours of live stitching? That’s what’s happening tonight on Norwegian public broadcaster NRK2 as folks around the country gather in viewing parties. The show is part of a phenomenon known as Slow TV which has increasingly captivated Norway. The overall gist of the concept, to which LMNO Productions recently acquired U.S. rights, is a hybrid of unhurried documentary coupled with hours and hours of continuous coverage provided by fixed cameras trained on a subject or an event. Prior to tonight, those have included a 7.5-hour train journey, a 134-hour coastal cruise, a stack of firewood
President Barack Obama will not attend next month´s event marking the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln´s Gettysburg Address in Pennsylvania. Officials at Gettysburg National Military Park said Wednesday that U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will represent the administration the Nov. 19 sesquicentennial. Jewell and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian James McPherson will share the role of keynote speaker. Other events include a reading of the Gettysburg address by a Lincoln portrayer. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett also plans to attend the ceremony. Lincoln delivered the immortal words of the address at a dedication of the Soldiers´ National Cemetery on Nov. 19, 1863, more than
This baby’s got the blues. A 10-month-old baby girl was brought to tears by the sound of her mother singing a lullaby. Little Marie-Lynne Leroux’s eyes start glistening just a few seconds into her mom’s rendition of Rod Stewart’s “My Heart Can’t Tell You No.” The wide-eyed baby from Ontario, Canada, bravely tries to regain her composure. It isn’t long before tears are rolling down her tiny face. Mom Amanda Leroux, says that this isn´t the first time her child has picked up on the emotions of a song. But for some reason, this particular ballad always evokes a strong reaction. "It´s almost as if
On Tuesday´s Charlie Rose Show, former Vice President Dick Cheney came on to promote his new book about surviving heart disease and was treated to a nasty swipe from the host about his Iraq war decision making. When Cheney told the PBS host and co-anchor of CBS’s This Morning that he had wished he had gotten his heart transplant done sooner, Rose took his shot: “Might you have seen Iraq differently if we had more oxygen to your brain?” (video after the jump) The following exchange was aired on the October 29 edition of PBS’s Charlie Rose Show: CHARLIE ROSE: And you feel
Today, New York Times editor-turned-cranky-columnist Bill Keller´s column consists of a long back-and-forth with crusading anti-imperialist Glenn Greenwald. The "must read" portion is not about the NSA, but about Times conservo-nerdlinger David Brooks.Look, we encourage you to read the whole long-ass column, which is actually a very mature and engaging exchange of views about the institutional role of the media in society, and the future of the practice of journalism. Good stuff. It´s all pretty civil, despite Bill Keller´s well-documented hatred of Greenwald pal Julian Assange. But of course, these two could not go on for thousands of words without
Shepard Smith, the endlessly endearing (and easily angered) Fox News anchor, has likened the right-wing channel to a “family,” with president Roger Ailes as its domineering father. Which makes it only slightly awkward that in early 2012, the 49-year-old anchor started courting an attractive young production assistant who worked under him on Fox Report With Shepard Smith. Now they are a couple. Gawker has learned that Smith is dating a 26-year-old Penn State grad and Fox Business producer named Giovanni “Gio” Graziano. According to multiple sources with knowledge of their relationship, the couple met sometime after Graziano started working at Fox
Wednesday’s House Oversight Committee hearing about the closures of national parks and monuments during the government shutdown, proved one thing: Under President Obama, The traditional “Washington Monument Strategy” of closing popular services first has become the “Washington Bully Strategy.” Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, a former prosecutor, almost drove National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis into incoherence with his relentless questioning. Gowdy wanted to know why Jarvis had allowed “pot-smoking” Occupy Wall Street protesters to camp overnight illegally in Washington’s McPherson Square park for 100 days, yet put up barricades to keep veterans out of war memorials on the first
It seems both sides in the Obamacare fight have their positions exactly backward. The Republican National Committee is tweeting #FireSebelius and their website homepage features a petition demanding that President Obama sack the head of the department in charge of carrying out his signature health reform initiative. The petition calls the glitch-ridden rollout of Healthcare.gov a “systemic failure” and says Sebelius should be held accountable for ignoring “red flags and repeated warnings that Obamacare wasn’t ready for primetime.” The White House said Tuesday it has no plans to get rid of Sebelius. If you think Sebelius is a blitheringly incompetent leader and manager,
Tom Foley, the Spokane judge´s son who became speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, is dead. His wife, Heather, confirmed his death Friday morning in an email to seattlepi.com. Foley, who had been in declining health, was 84 He will be remember as speaker of the House in days when Congress still got things done, but never saw the speaker´s chair as his life´s greatest honor. Instead, it was that voters in Eastern Washington chose him for 30 years to represent them in Congress. Foley stood tall (6´3"), gave straight answers and saw his job as working out society´s
Kathleen Sebelius came to Pittsburgh yesterday to team up with Steelers chairman Dan Rooney to promote the newly launched ObamaCare exchanges. Maybe she should have tried the Denver Broncos. The promotion flopped as badly as the Steelers in their first four weeks of the season, thanks to the $634 million website that can’t make a play: Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius had a front-row view of the problems plaguing the website that the government established to allow people to shop for health insurance under Obamacare. Sebelius and Steelers Chairman Dan Rooney were at an enrollment and education event on Thursday
The question all week long was this: Who are you going to believe, an illegal alien or the president of the United States of America? Obviously, if it’s a president who once went by an alias, Barry Soetoro, you go with Uncle Omar, 100 percent, no questions asked. And so it was that the White House finally admitted to another, uh, misstatement — despite previous denials, Barack/Barry did sleep on his beloved Uncle Omar’s couch in Cambridge when he first moved here to attend Harvard Law School (speaking of which, we’re still waiting to see the president’s grades and his LSAT scores). But the
How do you get your arms around the catastrophe known as Obamacare? Is it even possible? At this point, I’m not sure it is. The list of individual disasters which threaten to ruin one-sixth of the U.S. economy and what has been, up until now, the best healthcare system in the world is exhaustive, and exhausting. The examples I will identify here barely scratch the surface. First but by no means foremost, we have the supposedly new and improved HealthCare.gov. Except it’s not, even the visible part. Stories still abound of people still failing to get in or to get through the enrollment
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a new five-year strategic plan to improve safety for elderly drivers and passengers. Although they are statistically among the safest on the road, the number of older drivers is increasing dramatically — and with it, that group´s numbers of injuries and deaths. Since 2003, the population of older adults, defined as age 65 and older, has increased by 20% and the number of licensed older drivers increased by 21% to 35 million in 2012, according to NHTSA. Last year, NHTSA reported that 5,560 people older than 65 died and 214,000 were injured
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack,
Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the hapless, goalpost-shifting so-called "architect" of Obamacare, told Fox News´ Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday that President Barack Obama´s promise "if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor" was absolutely true--with one important caveat: if you like your doctor, "you can pay for it." Wallace grilled Dr. Emanuel, challenging his false claims that California´s enrollment was keeping pace with the percentage of the young population necessary to keep the system afloat, and pointing out that the president´s promise on doctors would collapse once people lost their insurance or their
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
The U.S. isn´t called "America the Beautiful" for nothing. Each year, millions of tourists come from home and abroad to see the country´s majestic landscape and iconic sites, from the Grand Canyon to the Statue of Liberty. But there are also cool, quirky attractions, like Vermont´s Ben & Jerry´s Factory and Tennessee´s Graceland, the former home of Rock and Roll King Elvis Presley. From California to New York and everywhere in between, the country is chock-full of incredible attractions that keep luring in visitors. Here are the best tourist attractions in every state.
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Call me Grinch, call me Scrooge. Call me Lord Voldemort of the Yuletide. None could be worse than sending me a holiday card with glossy photographs of your lovely, smiling family. My wife, Emily, and I place your cards like trophies on our shelves, continuing an old-school practice that began about 175 years ago as a way of maintaining relationships as families and friends moved far and wide. Today’s cards may appear more personalized — with photos of spouses, kids and pets, and distribution lists much smaller than a sprawling collection of Facebook friends. But when I flip over the photo
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a last minute decision not to participate in a memorial service for the late South African President Nelson Mandela, despite having notified the South African government that he would attend the event. The decision was made in light of the high transportation costs resulting from the short notice of the trip and the security required for the prime minister in Johannesburg. The Prime Minister’s Office found that the trip would have cost roughly 7 million shekels ($2.4 million) – 2.8 million shekels for chartering a private El Al plane and a further 3.2 million shekels for
