Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood
appears at risk of falling apart

Washington Post, by Liz Sly and Mary Beth Sheridan

CAIRO — The world’s most influential Islamist movement is in danger of collapse in the land of its birth — its leaders imprisoned, its supporters slain and its activists branded as terrorists in what many are describing as the worst crisis to confront Egypt’s 85-year-old Muslim Brotherhood. In the week since Egypt’s new military-backed rulers ordered a brutal crackdown on camps filled with protesters calling for the reinstatement of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, the group that used its organizational muscle to win the country’s first democratic elections, held in late 2011 and early 2012, has been cast into disarray. Fundamentalist movement thrive when the authorities attack them, but die when if they happen to become the authority. The Muslim Brotherhood has found its eternal strength -- as the oppressed and aggrieved minority.

Does anyone find it odd that Huma and Hillary sweep into office to lead the US State Dept, the Muslim Brotherhood sweeps into power, then Huma/Hillary step down from State and suddenly all hell breaks loose for the MB and they are thrown out on their asses?

Did the MB lose their guardian angels?

Sometimes, things are so obvious that even the Wash Post recognizes it.

I´m sure tha tthe US and world´s liberals don´t see burning churches and killing Christians is a valid reason for wiping out the MB.Stealing and defacing precious artifacts is a result of them living inpoverty,so they have to make a livingsomehow.

I´d bet anythng that the media whiners about this wouldn´t go live in Egypt with the MB in charge,it´s just like white cracker liberals pretending to care about poor people when they live in neigborhoods that are lily white.

Maybe the larger issue here is the simple fact that the left hates any kind of moral authority.I´ve said many times the left loves Obama because he´s the ultimate permissive parent.

In a lackluster, non productive economy, millions of people are waking up with nothing to do all day. This is causing horrific social displacement. Now we´re seeing crazy things happening out of simple boredom.

Ok, I had to stop reading after this (which is pretty early on in the article):

Analysts worry that its members, bitter and angry after the deaths of more than 1,000 Morsi supporters in the past week, could abandon the Brotherhood’s decades-long commitment to nonviolence, particularly as its leadership loses its grip on them. Some pro-Morsi demonstrators have been spotted with weapons, and attacks against security forces in the volatile Sinai Peninsula have intensified since Morsi was deposed July 3.

Seriously, WaPo, they´ve been non-violent for decades?! The only reason the MB was unable to inflict mayhem over the past several decades is because Mubarak and the military kept them in check. But once they deposed Mubarak -- with OUR help -- their true colors were revealed yet again. They were founded 85 years ago as a violent organization and they have never strayed from their roots.

When the King of Saudi Arabia has openly backed the Egyptian military, you have to ask yourself, why is our President choosing "now" not to take sides, when he took sides a year ago to replace Mubarak. Inquiring minds want to know.

I have a friend who came from Iran and lived with that fear of letting her bangs show in public. It boggles my mind that the left stand with the MB!!! The left who hate the right because they dare to say anything is right or wrong.

Egypt and the Middle East were relatively stable, prosperous, and comfortable under the Mubarak regime. The do-gooders wish everyone would "do democracy". Democracy works well in homogenous societies and nations, but does not work well in heterogeneous societies and nations, as too many factions wish to be heard and have some say in the running of the government. A task for which most factions are not capable of carrying out successfully! Witness the latest fiasco in Egypt when the MB attempted to organize things their way! Heterogeneous societies generally require more central, tough, military-style control until the citizens understand the value of cooperation so as to reach commonly agreed upon ends! Afghanistan and Iraq in the same boat. Stand bck a bit, folks, and check the big picture

BO has found out that Community Organizing, i.e. rabble rousing is nothing like governing. Organizer´s motives are not examined too closely. The "cause" is what matters. But once you are in charge, people want to know who you are, what you plan to do, and worst of all, hold you accountable for present conditions.

So it has been with the Brotherhood. It was easy to espouse a different way to run the country but once they got elected people actually expected them to RUN the country, something they were ill qualified to do. Also, people then started to take a hard look at the Brotherhood and didn´t like what they found under the public mask of a "peaceful" religion that proposes complete word domination and the elimination of the Jewish race. How that would all happen "peacefully", well......

The article goes on about the MB "winning over supporters over the decades with a vast network of charitable services, including dental clinics and thrift shops". That sounds just like what the Dim part has done in this country since the days of FDR. Some of us call that buying votes. And a very good way to keep them for a lifetime.

Maybe we should take a page out of Egypt´s military page and do the same thing here in the US. After all, the majority of our military are purported to be southern young men and women and/or from fly-over country. Very few are from the large liberal conclaves around the country. So, they might just join in. Of course, that would take a few generals and admirals with a stiff spine to lead them. I can dream can´t I?

My feeling is that Obama´s Muslim Brotherhood and Arab Springers are passé and should probably take a hint from their glorious leader. Guns, explosives and community organization don´t work quite as well in Cairo as they did in Chicago and Detroit.

The police and Army will actually shoot back in Egypt and Syria against violent demonstrators. Even in Afghanistan, they voted with purple fingers, a process that would end vote fraud in the USA and signal the end of the Democrat Party. Why if you did that here it would surely be racist.

They have spread to vital parts of the human world and they will have to be dealt with by heroic means now. The US is like an old man in total denial of his dreadful disease. Jerome Corsi has an article today on a banned site (some may guess which one) that Obama´s half brother Malik is a money man for the Brotherhood. Remember, Malik´s 501(c)(3) got preferential treatment from Lois Lerner herself. She backdated his request three years which is apparently illegal. This news, if true, may be a link to a smoking gun tying Obama to the Brotherhood. We´ll see. Corsi is a digger.

Sly and Sheridan deal with the truth rather uneasily and too WaPo-like. Look at some of their own TRASH writing about these killers: “a decades-long commitment to nonviolence ... Brotherhood supporters vowed that they would not resort to violence as they continued to challenge the interim government ……. `Our only option is the peaceful method’, Khaled Hanafi, secretary general of the Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party, said at a news conference in Cairo on Tuesday. .... with a vast network of charitable services, including dental clinics and thrift shops. It is the “mother of all Islamist movements“. No mention of the Islamist mass murders of christians, and burnings of hundreds of churches, and that’s just the christians. WaPo is attempting to tell of muslim violent failure, but can’t tell a straight story. They are ideologically confused at WaPo. They’ve been stealthily communizing a violent Soviet ideology for too many years to be able to report clearly on their latest violent ideological movement. Allen West said,“There are 80 Communists in Congress”. Guess what? He left out the rest of Washington DC!

The Social Security Administration announced Monday that it will immediately cease efforts to collect on taxpayers’ debts to the government that are more than 10 years old. The action comes after The Washington Post reported that the government was seizing state and federal tax refunds that were on their way to about 400,000 Americans who had relatives who owed money to Social Security. In many cases, the people whose refunds were intercepted had never heard of any debt, and the debts dated as far back as the middle of the past century. “I have directed an immediate halt to further

Democrats have had a recurring problem in special elections this year: Their voters aren’t turning out. If a weak economy and continued Obamacare problems persist, the November elections could be a disaster for Democrats. Last week, Democrats lost two special elections they weren’t planning to. Arlington, Va., is a classic wealthy ObamaTown, filled with government workers and limousine liberals. Mitt Romney won only 29 percent of the vote in 2012. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. The Obama administration said Friday that it would block Iran’s nominee as ambassador to the United Nations from entering the United States, setting up a new confrontation with Tehran just as relations with the Islamic republic appeared to be improving. The decision to bar entry to the diplomat, who was allegedly involved in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, followed intense political pressure on the administration from Republicans and Democrats on Capitol Hill. But it also marked a rare instance in which Washington has effectively vetoed another country’s preferred choice as envoy to the United Nations. Iran

Struggling homeowners across the country could face significant new tax bills if they receive mortgage relief from their banks, a prospect that threatens to slow the housing recovery and put further strain on distressed borrowers. The collapse of the housing market and plunging home prices left millions of people stuck owing more on their mortgages than their homes were worth. Some have worked with their banks to reduce the loan amount to avoid foreclosure or enable a sale. In 2007, Congress adopted a law that spared those homeowners from being taxed on the amount of the loan that was forgiven. But

On Thursday, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius resigned her position. The New York Times reported the resignation as a punishment for failure: Officials said Ms. Sebelius, 65, made the decision to resign and was not forced out. But the frustration at the White House over her performance had become increasingly clear, as administration aides worried that the crippling problems at HealthCare.gov, the website set up to enroll Americans in insurance exchanges, would result in lasting damage to the president’s legacy. So Sebelius stuck around just long enough to reach the mythical 7 million enrollment number

On Fox News Sunday, political analyst Brit Hume said that Eric Holder’s claim that his treatment at the hands of Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) at a House hearing this week was unprecedented toward an Attorney General, made him a “crybaby,” and that he and President Barack Obama had in fact benefited “enormously” from being the first African Americans in their respective positions. “This strikes me as kinda crybaby stuff from Holder,” Hume said. “My sense about this is both Eric Holder and Barack Obama have benefited politically enormously from the fact that they are African American and the first to

Let me obliterate a bit of confusion here: the Obama administration attempted to go to war with a rancher in Nevada. Let me amplify a little bit of truth: They tucked tail and have returned home. And let me add a bit of clarity: they had no choice! As the nation began to become familiar with the plight of the family of Cliven Bundy, many of us harkened back to another standoff in which the Federal government attempted to bully it´s outcome: Waco, Texas and the Branch Davidian massacre. It is telling that in the Nevada case the feds pulled out so

They’re both qualified, respectful of each other (shocker!), and represent the vast majority of middle America. So what’s not to like about another Clinton/Bush race for 2016? When you mention the prospect of Clinton vs. Bush 2016 a funny thing happens. First, there is the reflexive response: "Oh no, not again. We don´t need more dynastic politics in this country." But upon further reflection, you realize Jeb Bush vs. Hillary Clinton would be a great race and actually good for the country. Let´s review. QUALIFICATIONS—THEY’VE BOTH GOT THEM. Barack Obama won the presidency because in an election where the premium was on change, it mattered little

A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today. Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says. ‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar. And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive. The report was published

Chelsea Clinton says when people ask her these days whether she wants to go into politics, her answer isn’t an automatic “no.” The 34-year-old former first daughter told Fast Company in an interview published Monday, “for so long the answer was just a visceral no. Not because I had made any conscientious, deliberate decision, but since people had been asking for as long as literally I could remember, it was no." Now, the only child of former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton explains, "I live in a city and a state and a country where I

Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)

LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Republican Party stripped opposition to abortion and gay marriage from its platform Saturday as state convention delegates instead focused on judging fellow Republicans on their worthiness to serve in office and adherence to GOP values. The platform, with few changes, was adopted overwhelmingly as the Las Vegas convention stretched late into the evening. The vote mirrors that of the Clark County GOP, which voted earlier to remove platform language defining marriage as between a man and a woman and statements opposing abortion. Many Republicans are re-evaluating their strong stances on conservative social issues as public

A brazen flash mob has been caught on camera storming a California store and making off with $20,000 worth of sunglasses. Surveillance footage shows eight women piling into a Sunglass Hut and crowding around display cases. Shielding workers from what they´re doing, they quickly stuff dozens of fashion specs into their bags. A store clerk pleads with them to stop, before running out of the shot to get help and dial 911. The thieves then all bolt outside and escape in a waiting SUV. The incident occurred at the Valencia Town Center mall, in Santa Clarita, at 3 p.m. on

President Obama pulled a surprise move Monday at the White House’s Easter Prayer Breakfast when he selected Gene Robinson to lead the closing prayer. Robinson is famously known as the first openly gay Episcopal bishop. Talking Points Memo’s Tom Kludt spotted the following tweet from Robinson, who was in attendance: (Tweet) Robinson, 66, became diocesan bishop of New Hampshire in March 2004. He retired in January 2013 and is currently a senior fellow at the progressive

A Russian fighter jet made multiple, close-range passes near an American warship in the Black Sea for more than 90 minutes Saturday amid escalating tensions in the region, a U.S. military official said Monday. In the first public account of the incident, the official said the Russian Fencer flew within 1,000 yards of the USS Donald Cook, a Navy destroyer, at about 500 feet above sea level. Ship commanders considered the actions provocative and inconsistent with international agreements, prompting the ship to issue several radio queries and warnings. The fighter appeared to be unarmed and never was in danger of

Some time back, whenever a big racial controversy erupted, I trained myself into the habit of reading about it at FoxNews.com, just for the unbelievable comment threads. Let’s put it this way: If my friends and I went out to a bar and started playing a “let’s write the racist FoxNews.com comment thread” drinking game, our efforts couldn’t begin to approach what I read there.I wasn’t alone. Liberal websites started feasting on these threads. And so, a couple of years ago, Ailes & Co. got wise. Stories about race were, at least in my disheartened experience, closed to comments.
