According to Britons, Americans are incapable of irony – and our president is certainly proving their point. In his address about Egypt´s military coup – or whatever bowdlerizing euphemism is permitted this week in Washington – Obama condemned the notion that "security trumps individual freedom." Really? After his press conference announcing an oversight commission for the NSA, it emerged that the NSA´s truth-challenged director of national intelligence, James Clapper, would apparently oversee the oversight. The White House had to explain the joke, and then said Clapper would
"...the punchline of the Snowden affair: when we can´t trust what government tells us, we come to trust those whom government doesn´t trust. Thus, we no longer necessarily care what the official line is and who delivers it. And when that happens, access – the currency of the Beltway – becomes worthless. Ah, the irony"
The irony is the Left, still stuck in Fantasyland, doesn´t see Obama´s need to lie to cover up for his incompetence and liberalism´s inevitable failure when actuality trying to govern & deal with reality.
This motto #1 does outline the root of leftist socialist power. The dependent lo-fo´s get that way by always choosing security over freedom. Was this not the point of the biblical account of the Israelites complaining against Moses in the desert. Moses led them out of Egypt to freedom but back in Egypt they had the job of feeding the slop to the pigs so they had secure access to the slop the pigs were eating. Because of Moses they were starving in the desert and they were making a choice of security over freedom. This is our fundamental problem. To answer Ron Pauls question - Why is freedom such a hard sell? Everyone want´s freedom but when they face a choice of freedom or security they choose security. Those who make the right choice are exceptional. The left understands this and uses it every day!
Those who hope to make a trade off between security and freedom usually end up losing both. This is false choice raised by the Left and their propaganda machine - the Media. As Churchill famously put it, truth needs a bodyguard of lies in wartime. But even then there was no confusion about what was the truth and what was its armor. Here the whole narrative has been deliberately perverted.
The wheels are coming off America. Exactly what the little asshat wanted. And all the dumb little complicit democrat politicians, and yes, the dumb little complicit democrat voters, still haven´t figured it out.
Dumb is something you are born with, not learned. Therefore, there is no hope for the dumb little....
Credibility. Integrity. Trustworthiness. Remember them? They existed pretty much before The White House (that’s code for Barack Hussein Obama) came on the scene. Casual observers, me, for example, discerned that he was an inexperienced, unqualified, dare I say fraud?, fraud, there! I said it. And that was from the get-go. Now we have five years’ worth of examples to fall back on if we should ever need them. A treasure trove of examples. Wait! Make that trash trove! And with an Obama kiss-up media that bends and stretches the truth on a daily basis, we’re… um… uh… not blessed. No, not blessed. We’re…y’know… rhymes with shrewd.
Not only is the Regime lying about its stated intentions and objectives but it is also engaging in the exact opposite behavior with the exact opposite intentions.
Transparent Administration means Dark Regime. Leading From Behind means First to Follow. Spread the Wealth means Plunder the Opposition. Let Me Be Clear means Watch Me Confuse You. Pro Choice means Pro Death Green Jobs means Unemployment Blues Secure the Borders means Grow Our Base Affordable Care Act means Break the Healthcare Industry Restore our World Standing means Bow to Our Enemies.
Job Loss Stats National Debt Stats Unemployment Stats Enemy Combatant KIA Stats Oil Reserve Stats Energy Stats National Security Stats Privacy Stats Legislative Consequences Federal Food Safety Stats Border Security Stats Government Spending Stats Federal Abortion Stats
... do we believe any of these ´Official Stats´?
Because of proven lying, disinformation and misinformation. Proven and Purposeful.
Do I understand that some in the drive-by media are beginning to get peeved and Obozo for the mountain of lies being spouted daily? And it´s proof that the WH does believe that the media will print and/or say exactly what they want rather than the truth. Is that a promising sign?
I am afraid to believe that the Obama tide of worthless adulation is receding, but information like that presented in this article does give me a glimmer of hope. Regardless, though, the Republicans -- the "go-along, get-along" obsequious losers that they have become -- have lost my respect. What has happened to them? Who is out there fighting for us? Just a handful and that´s not enough.
When you have Republicans entering into closed door agreements with ultra-leftist Democrats (also called Gangs of Eight, Fourteen and Fellow Travelers) then the Country is in deep trouble.
When that same Party supports giving amnesty to known criminals, genocide by abortion and haven´t blocked funding for Obamacare, then don´t just object to a President who is a habitual liar, you must also take recourse against a party that surrenders to shadows.
When Lamar Alexander joined 13 Republicans in voting for Amnesty in the Senate, he wasn´t representing the people of Tennessee, he was agreeing with the Democrats and the Gang of 8. Current polls show him losing to any conservative candidate by 5% points in the next primary. It is time for a voting revolution. Stop voting for people who will stab you in the back every time.
And yet, despite the Brits finally speaking up nothing but the sound of crickets from the rest of Europe. So, it´s a race...between the lo fo Americans and their EU counterparts to see who is capable of waking up first.
In general people vote for candidates put forward by either one of the two large coalition parties because, on average, they agree with them more than the candidates put forward by the other party.
It is rare for a block of voters who´ve always voted for one of the big party candidates to switch over to vote for the other big party´s candidates. Whenever that happens, it can be spectacular.
More often one of the parties will find itself betraying the interests of one of its more serious minded coalition partners, and note that THOSE PEOPLE ARE LOSING INTEREST.
That´s happening with Roman Catholics right now. Democrat drift sees fewer and fewer Catholics voting or them. At the same time Republicans pick up new Catholic voters every day ~ even in the face of RINO and GOP-e stupidity. Although the data is spotty, Catholic voters may well be losing interest in Republicans. There is a perception that we are no longer adding all that many to our dependable voting lists.
Always remember, there are about 90 million American adults who aren´t registered to vote and don´t vote. There´s plenty of reasons for that. A real good one is when a faction loses confidence in the major party of which it was once a part it just drops out of political life all together.
Montevideo - Uruguay´s Senate is expected to pass a law on Tuesday making the small South American nation the world´s first to allow its citizens to grow, buy and smoke marijuana. The pioneering government-sponsored bill establishes state regulation of the cultivation, distribution and consumption of marijuana and is aimed at wresting the business from criminals. Cannabis consumers would be allowed to buy a maximum of 40 grams (1.4 ounces) each month from state-regulated pharmacies as long as they are over the age of 18 and registered on a government database that will monitor their monthly purchases.
The political temperature in the Arctic rose on Tuesday when Vladimir Putin vowed to step up Russia´s military presence in the region in response to a claim by Canada to the north pole. In typically trenchant style, Putin told his defence chiefs to concentrate on building up infrastructure and military units in the Arctic. He said the region was again key to Russia´s national and strategic interests, following a retreat in the post-Soviet period. His comments were a direct and rapid riposte to Canada, a rival Arctic power. John Baird, said his government had asked scientists to work on a submission to the UN arguing
The phone call came from a charming woman with a bright, engaging voice to the cell phone of a TIME Washington Bureau Chief Michael Scherer. She wanted to offer a deal on health insurance, but something was fishy. When Scherer asked point blank if she was a real person, or a computer-operated robot voice, she replied enthusiastically that she was real, with a charming laugh. But then she failed several other tests. When asked “What vegetable is found in tomato soup?” she said she did not understand the question. When asked multiple times what day of the week it was yesterday, she complained repeatedly of a bad connection.
A porn performer who tested positive for HIV in Los Angeles is asking for privacy as the industry tries to determine the scope of the problem. "The performer deserves privacy and dignity at this difficult time, and we ask that our colleagues and the media respect the performer’s wishes for privacy unless he or she wishes to speak," the Free Speech Coalition, a porn industry trade group, said in a statement. The Free Speech Coalition said it was working to identify anyone who had sex with the infected performer. “We take the health of our performers very seriously and felt
In China on Thursday, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. spoke plainly about the role of a free press in a democratic society. “Innovation thrives where people breathe freely, speak freely, are able to challenge orthodoxy, where newspapers can report the truth without fear of consequences,” he said in an address to American businesspeople living and working there. He was speaking against the backdrop of China’s restrictive policies on reporting by foreign news organizations; the Chinese government has so far declined to renew the visas of nearly two dozen reporters from The New York Times and Bloomberg News as a consequence
Jerusalem - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided not to attend a memorial service for Nelson Mandela this week because it is too expensive to travel to South Africa, Israeli media reported on Sunday. Netanyahu had notified the South African authorities that he would fly in but cancelled his plans at the last minute due to the costs involved -- around 7.0 million shekels ($2 million) for his transport and security alone, pubic radio and the Haaretz daily reported. "The decision was made in light of the high transportation costs resulting from the short notice of the trip and the security required for the prime minister
New Orleans - Things traditionally get started a little late down here, an inclination that runs from mealtimes to political races. But with nearly a year to go before the 2014 election, it is already open season on Senator Mary L. Landrieu, Democrat of Louisiana. (Snip) As Democrats look across the rest of the South, the outlook does not get much better. Ms. Landrieu, along with Senators Mark Pryor of Arkansas and Kay Hagan of North Carolina, is pretty much all that is left of Southern Democrats in the Senate. All three are up for re-election next year. And the outcome of their races could determine whether the Southern Democrat,
Even as five regulatory agencies prepared to vote Tuesday on a regulation that seeks to rein in risk-taking on Wall Street — an effort known as the Volcker Rule — lawyers and lobbyists were gearing up for another round of attacks against it. (Snip) The groups, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, are hinting that they could use litigation to either undercut or clarify the rule, which is intended to bar banks from trading for their own gain and limit their ability to invest in hedge funds. The rule, a cornerstone of the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act and a barometer for the overall strength of the regulatory overhaul, is aimed at
Afghan President Hamid Karzai agreed on a cooperation pact with Iran, despite continuing to resist signing a security agreement with the U.S., Reuters reported. Karzai made the deal with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in Tehran Sunday. (Snip) Rouhani said Sunday his country opposes the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan and the region, saying their presence generates tension, the official IRNA news agency reported. IRNA quoted Rouhani as telling Karzai: "We believe that all foreign forces should leave the region and that the security of Afghanistan should be handed over to people of the country."
US Secretary of State John Kerry reiterated on Sunday that Israel will be safer the day the recently-reached deal on Iran´s nuclear issue is implemented. Kerry, addressing the Brookings Institution´s annual Saban Forum, recognized Israel´s concern over Tehran´s disputed nuclear ambitions, saying the possibility of a weaponized nuclear Iran stood as an existential threat to Israel. "We will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon. Period. Not now, not ever," he said.
Los Angeles - The California health exchange says it´s been giving the names of tens of thousands of consumers to insurance agents without their permission or knowledge in an effort to hit deadlines for coverage. (Snip) Officials with Covered California, the exchange set up in response to the federal health law, said they began providing names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses if available this week in a pilot program. They said they thought it would help people meet a Dec. 23 deadline to have health insurance in place by Jan. 1. The state doesn´t know exactly how many people
The “feminist nightmare” is recurring. Unbowed by Politico labeling her with this epithet a couple of weeks ago, Michelle Obama continues to do what her critics regard as frightening behaviors. Last week, she assaulted independent women by showing off the White House Christmas decorations. “Our goal is for every room and every tree to tell a story,” she explained to an audience of military families in the East Room, where her two-tone gray dress matched the silver ornaments on the trees. She spoke of Christmas trees made from stacks of books (“they’re very cool!”) and described the “first dog display”
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who

The president and first lady Michelle Obama are being accompanied by Mr. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the flight to Johannesburg. A four-hour memorial service will be held on Tuesday for South Africa’s first black president. Mr. Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary, died on Thursday at age 95. Former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea are traveling separately to South Africa. Former President
President Obama will make remarks on Nelson Mandela´s legacy during a memorial service Tuesday for the late South African freedom fighter, officials said Monday. "We do expect President Obama to speak as part of the program," said Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. The president and first lady Michelle Obama departed Monday for Johannesburg, where a Mandela memorial service will be held in a soccer stadium. Obama, who will also spend time with the Mandela family, is not scheduled to hold any bilateral meetings with foreign leaders while in South Africa, Rhodes said. Rhodes also said the
All three networks on Monday morning highlighted the appearance of the Obamas at the Kennedy Center Honors, but only ABC fawned over "fashion win" of First Lady. Lara Spencer enthused that " one of the stars of the show was Michelle Obama." An excited Spencer explained that Mrs. Obama looked "absolutely ravishing in a flowing teal gown as she accompanied President Obama." The co-host declared, "Another big fashion win for the First Lady. CBS This Morning offered a full report on the various performers who were honored, but co-anchor Charlie Rose avoided ABC´s superlatives.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell believes the United States should have a socialized, single-payer healthcare system similar to those in Canada and Europe. “I think universal health care is one of the things we should really be focused on, and I hope that will happen,” Powell reportedly said last week. “Whether it’s Obamacare, or son of Obamacare, I don’t care. As long as we get it done.” The Puget Sound Business Journal reported Powell´s remarks at the Prostate Cancer Survivors Celebration Breakfast at the University of Washington´s Cancer Research Center. Powell, the Republican who supported Barack Obama during the last two presidential
President Barack Obama is bringing his family of aides and advisors down to South Africa for Nelson Mandela’s mass-media send-off. “For us it’s the President and the First Lady, the Attorney General [Eric Holder], Susan Rice, Valerie Jarrett,” Ben Rhodes, the White House’ deputy national security advisor for strategic communications, told reporters during an impromptu press conference on Air Force One. Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of State John Kerry are staying behind, but former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was on board Air Force One as well. The memorial is expected to be attended by hundreds of world
