There is no way to sugarcoat it: Egypt stands on the brink of a bloody, nasty civil war, and, at the very least, sustained civil unrest and sectarian violence. The current confrontation between the Egyptian military and radical Islamists — led by the Muslim Brotherhood — will not end well and the MB and its allies will not go quietly. The Brothers — the original modern Islamic terror group and the ideological source of both al-Qaeda and Hamas — are in no mood to negotiate or compromise. Think about it: After decades of patience, stealth, and gradualism,
This is an important article, which clearly explains the origins and serious nature of the situation in Egypt, and its likely impact on the world. It is also an indictment of Barak Hussein Obama for bringing this about through his support for the Muslim Brotherhood, despite its historic enmity to western civilization. It should be a must read.
It is amazing to me the comments from around the wold on this. Egypt is struggling for it´s very soul and the freedom of it´s people against the darkest, most horible band of cut throats the modern world has ever seen. And we hear our President and Sec. of State whining, "Must be a peaceful solution! We condemn violence against civilians." My God, can they not see what is happening? It´s as if our own leaders are ready and willing to throw us the the same pack of vicious wolves!

Obama lit this fire. He is aligned with the MB. Huma Abedin was featured at a WH Ramadan dinner after Weiners first tweets-our faux POTUS wanted the MB to know their agent at State was secure. Treason. The Egyptian military should be applauded and supported. Why were Morsi´s agents at Benghazi? Did Obama want to have Amb. Stevens kidnapped to appease the MB and exchange him for the WTC terrorist The Egyptian Blind Sheikh?
When you think MB think huma abedine. Until recently she was the mentor of all things worldly to the next democrat candidate for president. If that crone gets elected, the consequences for our country will be astounding. There will be sensitivity classes for all posters on Lucianne, that you can bet on.
We Americans are so ignorant of world history! I did not know that "muslim brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna collaborated with the Nazis during World War II to extend Hitler’s Final Solution to the Jews of the Middle East and North Africa."
We have been over here working and prospering while they have been over there plotting and planning for the overthrow of countries and the annihilation of Israel.
You would think that the conversion of Iran to a islamic state and 9/11 would have awoken us from our ignorance of their agenda, but since then we ignore "allah akbar" on our own soil, continue to push "democracy" on a people who only understand it as a tool to get in power, and have proponents like Huma in influential positions in our government. Hopefully, this will negatively affect support for Hillary.
I don´t think the MB are that strong or intelligent. Every time they wage war, they lose big and their ranks are thinned. I´m no expert on this and I could be wrong but an enemy that needs to seek into your country, hijack planes and plant bombs in large population centers is not strong. The only thing they have going for themselves is they´re suicidal. So to where the Japanese in WWII. You see how far that got them.
The NYT will spend one day on that story then a week of stories rehabilitating them. End the end the Clintons will claim no knowledge of the day to day operations of the foundation and claim mistakes were made that have now been corrected. The NYT will then say "nothing to see here!" And it will be buried.
The aim of the story will have been to bring tothe public Clinton corruption, assist in covering up, then claim it´s old news in 2015-16 as to prevent it from harming a Hillary presidential run.
We all know how this works with liberals. They will never doing anything to set back the agenda.
The strategy is to get this out early. Never give a full explanation, then when the campaigning begins, say that you have addressed this before and never respond to questions asked. The lapdog media will never ask again and it will be a non-issue. However, if you put your dog in a crate and place it on top of your car, the media will continue to raise it as an issue decades later.
This is the end result of Obama´s Arab Spring. Every Country he has meddled in has lost their leaders, some of whom were our allies for decades and now there is mass violence in that part of the World. Instead of playing golf he should personally go over to Egypt and give another speech. See if he can undo the chaos he has created. People are DYING because of his foreign policies. My opinion.
Search for and look at photos of people in Egypt in the 40´s and 50´s when women were dressed regularly and not wearing scarves and burkas, etc. Women were going to school and college and wearing skirts and looking like women instead of a moving tent.
At one time the Muslim world was not going backwards and was actually moving forward into an almost modern normality like much of the rest of the world.
Obama is still hip deep in the MB cause. Anyone remember this from June? Via Fox News: "The deputy of radical Islamic cleric Yusuf al-Qaradawi is claiming to have met with Obama administration officials at the White House earlier this month, according to the Investigative Project on Terrorism. Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah posted a purported picture of the meeting online, though the White House visitor’s log has no record of anyone by his name at present."
By supporting the MB he is also supporting Hamas and al-Qaeda. Our ME policy, built over many years, is in shambles.
There will much larger consequences if this continues on it´s present course. If the MB does in fact take over the Suez Canal, the ramifications will extend over all of western Europe and any other countries that depend on Middle East oil. It´s going to be interesting what THEY will do when it hits the fan. Will they jump in and help defeat the MB? I seriously doubt it. They will whine and complain and call for the US to do all the heavy work. And just look who is in charge here in the US? Going to be a real mess for the next couple of years or more.
Well look what has happened in Egypt since Barack Obama gave his famous speech in Cairo. All that is certainly a good indication that he has no idea what is really going on in the world and is living a dream.
Make observations and comments all you want to... we aren´t going to be doing much more than that, nor should we.
Hate to just call it "popcorn time" given that some will die...
But the death toll so far is just about what might happen after a soccer match.
It´s just Detroit with a few extra Arabs and Muslims beyond what live in Michigan. If it continues, it will approach the death toll in Chicago, ILL, USA.
Meanwhile, speaking as some have about oil supplies, see why it´s vital to our economy, our way of life, and our national security to Drill Drill Drill and say anyone who does not approve of it can kindly Go Frack Themselves!!
Can we realize that now that there are only a few real countries in the world? Egypt is ancient, well-located, has traded with every great nation and culture for 6,000 years or more, and led much of the world when under the pharaohs [who were, uhhh, Greeks]. But today, there´s no a lot of difference between Egypt, Haiti, or the sub-Saharan toilet "countries." Oh -- all of which have UN votes equal to ours.
#8: Good post, strong post. Hat tip. Well done.
#12: It´s too, too easy to broad-brush. Quite wrong as well. If "we Americans" [some 305-plus million of us!] are so ignorant of history, how do we get Post #8? The many other high-order posters here? Or the great VDH?
#16: There are several kinds of strength, and not all enemies see "victory" in terms we understand. 9/11/2001 was to them a huge "victory." Pyrrhus was Greek, not Islamic. Japan attacked an enemy that fought back hard. Islam attacks Liberty, and Lady Liberty´s home has "leaders" who say "there is no war." Conquest is easy then, certainly conquest by their measure. And with their measures. Look how the Ground Zero Victory Mosque effort is defended by the victims.
#33: Good post. Thanks. We very much need to recall the previous Suez Canal dust-up. But today -- would Stinky really support an international effort to secure the canal? Or is he more likely to not just drag his feet, but to obstruct it? And who could act?
The Brits, an island nation twice nearly defeated by relatively-modest submarine warfare, "decided" that entitlements [much of which go to deadbeats, malcontents, and foreign non-assimilaters (read: enemies)] were more "necessary," are on their way to a "navy" [bitter laughs go here] of 22 ships. Germany has basically a dry-land military. Would need our airlift capabilities. France: likewise little naval power, and generally kind of a question-mark as to power-projection. Other military powers [Russia, China] would support the Egyptian troublemakers only to complicate life for the West at a cheap cost to themselves.
Ugh. Nothing on that list we´d ask Santa to bring us, is there?
#37: Many good points. Thanks. A lot of the participants we´d all like to see lose.
But there can and very well might be some serious negatives for us: a. real disruption to the world economy; b. many dead innocents [especially targeted Christians] in the region´ and c. real suffering of innocents around the world [including here] from the economic disruptions on top of the economic mess already created by the politicians. Could get really, really bad.
Notice what Obama has done. He won´t claim there is a coup so he can keep sending billions to Egypt; essentially supporting the military. Then he goes on television and denounces the military for killing people who are practicing peaceful protests, as if he´s on the side of the MB.
The man is trying to play both ends to the middle and will alienate both of them from us. He should be keeping his blabber mouth shut... but he can´t. Who and what he is? An idiot with no moral values would be close.
The Obama administration brought in a private consulting team to independently assess how the federal online health-care enrollment system was developing, according to a newly disclosed document, and in late March received a clear warning that its Oct. 1 launch was fraught with risks. The analysis by McKinsey & Co. foreshadowed many of the problems that have dogged HealthCare.gov since its rollout, including that the call-in centers would not work properly if the online system was malfunctioning and that insufficient testing would make it difficult to fix problems after the launch. The report was provided to The Washington Post by
When former Obama adviser and campaign manager David Plouffe said on Sunday that running against Obamacare would be an "impossibility" for Republicans, his reasoning seemed dubious. By the fall of 2014, Plouffe insisted, "millions of people will be signed up," and Republicans would struggle to convince them to give up their new insurance. While those figures seem optimistic, Plouffe´s argument should not be dismissed. Democrats designed Obamacare to be repeal-proof. They followed the advice of veteran Chicago strategist (and convicted felon) Robert Creamer, who wrote Democrats´ political blueprint for passing "universal health care" in 2006-7, partly while he was serving
There´s nothing that Democrats want more than to change the subject from Obamacare, despite DNC Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz´s protestations otherwise. Congressional Democrats don´t want to be dealing with a drip-drip of news about premiums going up, patients losing their doctors, and a broken health care website as they face angry voters in 2014. Hillary Clinton doesn´t want this issue lingering past the midterms. She hitched her presidential prospects to President Obama´s wagon and she´s not about to let someone else´s crisis damage her presidential ambitions yet again, Even Vice President Joe Biden, who called the health care law a
The Obama administration has repeatedly said that the health-insurance-plan cancellations receiving so much attention in the news in recent days will affect only the 5 percent of Americans who purchase insurance on the individual market. The Department of Justice, however, in a brief filed in federal court last month, conceded that the number may be much higher. According to the administration’s numbers, nearly 80 million additional Americans, “a majority” of those on employer-sponsored health plans, may also be out of luck. “It is projected that more group health plans will transition to the requirements under the regulations as time goes
John wrote here on the subject of what the Obamacare shipwreck teaches us about contemporary liberalism. The obvious lesson, he said, is liberalism’s failure to appreciate the complexity of the world and its confidence in the ability of technocrats sensibly to reorder the lives of millions of strangers. Picking up on this theme, I want to compare Obamacare to Hillary Clinton’s 1993 quest to redo health care. Perhaps the comparison will shed light on liberalism’s evolution. Hillary Clinton’s health care reform plan was the product of something called the President’s Task Force on National Health Care Reform. Under the direction
It is now painfully evident to millions of Americans that President Obama´s promise that they could keep their current health coverage under Obamacare wasn´t true. But what has received less attention in the current uproar is that back in 2009, when Obamacare was under debate and Obama was making the promise, some Republicans saw precisely what was wrong with it, and said so. And when those Republicans challenged the White House, the White House had nothing to say. Go back to June 23, 2009. The House Education and Labor Committee, chaired by Democratic Rep. George Miller, held a hearing on
UPPER DUBLIN, Pa. — Few places may better explain how the bungled launch of President Obama’s health-care law has scrambled the political landscape for Democrats than this hamlet north of Philadelphia. Democrats have been hoping to capitalize on the political fallout for the GOP from the recent government shutdown. If they can do so anywhere, it should be in the suburbs north and west of the city where three adjoining congressional districts represent a confluence of Democratic Party ambitions for the 2014 midterm elections. The 13th District is represented by Allyson Y. Schwartz, a popular five-term Democrat who is the
The unthinkable is finally happening. A small revolt against President Obama has broken out in Democrat ranks over the Obamacare fiasco. In response, President Obama is “brainstorming” with the insurance companies to find a way out. It’s like Animal House, with the same frenzy but without the humor. “Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Nothing is over until we decide!” He still thinks he “decides.” Roger Simon argues that Obama should resign, giving the most old-fashioned of reasons. Shame. “If I were Barack Obama, I would resign as president. Forget all the temporary fixes and limited hangouts,
President Obama’s signature initiative is on the ropes — Down in the count! Fourth and long! — but he remains strangely sportsmanlike. “We fumbled the rollout on this health-care law,” he admitted at Thursday afternoon’s news conference. “I am very frustrated, but I’m also somebody who, if I fumbled the ball, you know, I’m going to wait until I get the next play, and then I’m going to try to run as hard as I can and do right by the team.” Four times he mentioned fumbling — both the HealthCare.gov Web site and his promise that people could keep
The lead contractor on the dysfunctional Web site for the Affordable Care Act is filled with executives from a company that mishandled at least 20 other government IT projects, including a flawed effort to automate retirement benefits for millions of federal workers, documents and interviews show. CGI Federal, the main Web site developer, entered the U.S. government market a decade ago when its parent company purchased American Management Systems, a Fairfax County contractor that was coming off a series of troubled projects. CGI moved into AMS’s custom-made building off Interstate 66, changed the sign outside and kept the core of
State regulators across the country said they were blindsided by President Obama’s decision to change a key health-law provision and spent Friday scrambling to make sense of it. Some said they were unsure whether their state laws would allow them to do what the president suggested. A day after Obama tried to quell anxiety over millions of canceled insurance policies, only a handful of state regulators said they would adopt the president’s fix. Many others said they needed more time to decide what to do because of the complex logistics and far-reaching impact on consumers. The muddle marked the latest
As Friday dawns, here´s what a health insurance crisis looks like to many millions of Americans: Barely six weeks shy of 2014, they do not know whether they will have medical coverage Jan. 1. Or which hospitals and doctors they might patronize. Or what they may pay to protect themselves and their families against the chance of medical and financial catastrophe. How much, that is, they may pay in order to satisfy the Democratic politicians and federal bureaucrats who are worsening a metastasizing health coverage fiasco. For perhaps 5 million of those Americans thus far — estimates vary — the
Oprah Winfrey has said racism is still a problem around the world and the only way for it to end is for generations of racists to die out. In an interview with the BBC to coincide with the release of her latest film The Butler, the chat show host said generations had been ´marinated´ in racism. The 59-year-old added that President Obama was treated with disrespect because of the color of his skin and said she feels fortunate to have been born after segregation ended in the U.S. [Snip] She highlighted an incident in 2009 when Republican congressman Joe Wilson
The Times Of Israel is reporting that a team of negotiators led by White House adviser Valerie Jarrett has been conducting secret talks with Iran about it´s nuclear weapons program for the past year. The report states the deal submitted in Geneva earlier this month was a direct result of these secret year-long negotiations between teams headed by Jarrett and Iran´s Ali Akbar Salehi. That deal was ultimately rejected when France and Israel raised strong objections, and talks are expected to resume this Wednesday. The White House was very quick to issue a categorical denial of the report. According to
Second-term presidents in the past 30 years have had some pretty embarrassing news conferences, full of frank admissions of failure, submissive spasms of shame and groveling, grieving apologies. Bill Clinton had to admit that he actually did have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky; George W. Bush finally thought of something he might have done wrong; his dad had to explain all those new taxes after his unequivocal pledge; and even Ronald Reagan ate crow over the Iran-Contra affair. But there has never, ever, been a more pitiful presser than the one conducted last week by President Obama.
Carbohydrates are rotting our brains and contributing to devastating diseases such as Alzheimer’s, an American neurologist has warned. David Perlmutter, from Florida, believes that even ‘good’ carbs, such as grains, are severely affecting our brains. And the staples of our modern diet aren’t only increasing the risk of dementia, but contributing to depression, epilepsy and headaches, he believes. [Snip] The solution? Going back to the days when our diet was mainly fat--with this making up 75 percent of our diet, and carbs just 5 percent. Protein intake should stay the same as it is, at about 20 percent.
Most women will tell you that other than the N-word, the C-word is the most vile in the English language never to be used. Cher apparently doesn´t hold such a belief, for she disturbingly took to Twitter Friday to call former Alaska governor Sarah Palin a "Dumb C Word": Cher ? @cher Follow Go to dictionary,& look up The “C"Word,....next 2 the definition...you’ll see a Pic of Sarah PALIN ! NO...WAIT ...SHES UNDER DUMB C WORD?? 12:11 PM - 15 Nov 2013 716 Retweets 834 favorites ReplyRetweetFavorite Three minutes later she put an exclamation point on it:
On Sunday, appearing on ABC’s This Week with fill-in host Martha Raddatz, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) admitted that Democrats knew full well that Americans would be booted from their health insurance plans as an effect of Obamacare implementation. When asked whether Democrats were misled by President Obama about whether Americans would be able to keep their plans in the individual insurance market, Gillibrand answered: “He should’ve just been specific. No, we all knew.”
In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington. The decline — from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated. And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it. Just two years before the presidential election, the Census Bureau had caught an employee fabricating data that went into the unemployment report, which is one of the most closely watched measures of the economy. And a knowledgeable
“The Affordable Care Act’s political position has deteriorated dramatically over the last week.” That, coming from longtime Obamacare cheerleader and Washington Post blogger Ezra Klein, was pretty strong language. And it was only Wednesday. That was the day after the release of a devastating Quinnipiac national poll. It showed Barack Obama’s approval rating at 39 percent, with his disapproval rating at 54 percent — sharply down from 45 percent approval and 49 percent disapproval on Oct. 1, the day the government shutdown began and healthcare.gov went into (limited) operation. Democrats hoped that Republicans would take a shellacking in public opinion for the
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has entered the final, mortifying stage of denial where one flails feebly about in the desperate search for an argument that might generate some traction. The spectacular collapse of Democratic standing in public opinion polls has prompted Democrats to voluntarily chip away at the very financial foundation of the Affordable Care Act – a prospect that any pundit would have deemed unthinkable just three weeks ago. Democrats are terrified, but Pelosi, an old pro, never wants to let them see her sweat. To that end, during a press conference with her fellow Democratic leaders
Mary Cheney, a daughter of the former vice president, and her wife, Heather Poe, sharply criticized on Sunday a comment by by Ms. Cheney’s sister, Liz Cheney, a candidate for the Senate in Wyoming, that they disagreed on the issue of same-sex marriage. “Liz – this isn’t just an issue on which we disagree, you’re just wrong – and on the wrong side of history,” Mary Cheney, who is gay, wrote on her Facebook page. Ms. Poe’s comments were sharper and more personal. “Liz has been a guest in our home, has spent time and shared holidays with our children, and when
As the story of the Obamacare website fiacso unfolds, senior administration aides tell me that the president is “mad, frustrated and angry.” Mad that his signature legislative achievement is stuck at the gate, frustrated that he’s running out of time to fix it, and angry that he’s got a second term agenda now going nowhere. He’s so furious, in fact, that he stepped out of character to vent to an assembled group of top aides. “If I had known [about the website problems] ,” the steaming president reportedly said, according to the New York Times, “We could have delayed the
What will matter most about Ted Turner´s life story when they roll the final credits? That he started the first 24-hour news network? Built a fortune once worth $10 billion? Was Time magazine´s "Man of the Year"? Received a star on Hollywood´s Walk of Fame? Made The New York Times best-seller list? Maybe it was that time he raced a sailboat faster than anyone else. Or the year his baseball team won the World Series. Impressed yet? Did you know he had a president for a fishing buddy and won the heart of a movie star? Turner turns 75 on November
