In the wake of a rodeo clown’s anti-Obama skit this weekend, the Missouri State Fair is forcing all clowns to undergo sensitivity training. The state fair commission voted Monday to ratify the decision to ban the clown in question who wore an Obama mask as the rodeo announcer asked if the crowd wanted to see him get run down by a bull. The crowd enthusiastically approved, according to local media reports. But the state commission went further, saying it will require that before the Rodeo Cowboy Association can take part in any future state fair, “they must provide evidence to
Comments: The insanity of political correctness is now so ingrained in this country I don´t know how we ever get back to any normalcy. I never thought I would ever live to see such outrageous behavior in the USA.
The hypocrisy is unreal. The Boy Scouts of America are booed at the DNC years back, which is nationally televised and no one said boo.
Some State Fair, which no one outside of MO even knows about goes insane because a clown, a COMEDIAN, makes fun of BO. Almost every late night comedian who is also nationally televised, makes fun of BO everynight.
I find it hilarious that the audience cheered. To me it sounds like the State Fair commission should go through sense of humor and free speech training.
If only the "Obama clown" had merely held up a large poster showing Obama with the words "Snipers Wanted" imposed on his face, all of this furor could have been avoided. Heck, it happened to Pres. Geo. W. Bush, and not a disparaging word was heard from the media or anyone else, as far as I know.
Whats the big deal with this? Really, this president, and any president do not have their own Bill of Rights. The 1st amendment applies to evryone. A clown can´t wear an obama mask? Why not? obma is being made fun of. Is all the phoney righteous indignation because obama is the president ( no) it´s because hes black. What they will never get is the reason that people dont like obama has nothing to do with skin color, it´s his ideology and the anti constitutional things that his adminstration is doing against the American people.
Ah, sensitivity training, the last refuge of politically correct scoundrels. What pantywaist liberal issued this order? If the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association accepts this punishment, they are finished as a credible organization.
I don´t find this kind of thing humorous. But, this seems relatively mild compared to the "insensitivity" toward G.W. Bush and Sarah Palin in recent years.
There was an off Broadway play about the president´s assassination, and a late night talk show host called for his assassination, just for starters. A photographer in NYC was selling charging for taking photos of his customers shooting a rifle at a life-sized picture of Sarah Palin and her daughter with a moose Sarah had killed as the target. Both Sarah Palin and G.W. Bush were hanged in effigy on more than one occasion. I don´t recall any calls for ´sensitivity training´, much less actually taking the "training".
"Sensitivity training" is political indoctrination, groupthink and brainwashing.
It would not exist another 24 hours if Americans refused to put up with it. It is only possible because too many Americans are too cowardly to say no. No previous generation of Americans would have been spineless enough to go along with this blatant un- and anti-American racket.
Those to blame for "sensitivity training" and "political correctness" are not the minuscule number of radicals and zealots and hustlers who push such scams but the millions and millions of Americans who refuse to stand up to them out of fear of consequences. Grumbling and complaining and going along is the behavior of slaves and serfs, not free, liberty-loving people.
So, in a way, Americans can be said to deserve their "sensitivity training." As long as they continue to put up and go along with it it will continue and get worse.
As lawyers in socialist occupied oregon we have to take ´diversity´ training crap. It is always forced on us by arrogant black folk with a chip on their shoulder. I wonder if my heavy sighing and rolling eyes was distracting. ;-)
The Left hung Bush in effigy, which could have been seen as a threat to his life. Nobody was going to stand still and let a bull run him down. This was a good stunt. Had it been done during Bush´s time, even Bush himself would´ve laughed.
Madonna in one of her videos throwing a grenade at "President Bush" in her audience, right into his lap, I think -
let me think, did she ever take any sensitivity training or did any of the record company executives take sensitivity training?
How about a remake of that Charles Bronson classic, "The Mechanic" - in one scene where his apprentice (played by Jan Michael-Vincent) is having a party, one of the party goers has put a mask of President Nixon on a dog - it was rather startling at the time, you saw this face of Nixon emerging through the crowd (about three feet above the floor) and you realize it is a mask on this dog - rather irreverent but it was after the President had resigned and some people in the audience thought it was "cool" - I don´t remember any theaters getting shut down for it - maybe someone will re-make it (they are always remaking things) and put a mask of Obama on a dog, instead.
And I don´t think anyone tried to shut down the filming of "Point Break" where the bank robbers wear masks of various Presidents (including LBJ), the ringleader wears a President Reagan mask - very brutal and violent character this bank robber (I like the movie, otherwise - especially when Keanu Reeves is swimming through the air after jumping out of a plane).
Didn´t mean to write too much - last question - what are they going to do the people in the stands who cheered? Do they have to go to sensitivity training (if they turn themselves in)?
Twitchy, the conservative Twitter aggregation site, has been sold for an undisclosed amount to Salem Communications, the Christian radio conglomerate and owners of Hotair.com and Townhall.com. Jonathan Garthwaite, general manager and editor-in-chief of Townhall.com, confirmed the news to BuzzFeed Tuesday, saying he was “excited” to be folding Twitchy into existing Salem news properties. “Media Matters types would like to paint conservatives as boring, old white guys,” Garthwaite said. “Twitchy adds more fun and humor to our platform, which will appeal to totally different generation and break that stereotype.” Launched in March 2012, Twitchy was the brainchild of conservative author and
In a visit to NR’s New York office, Senator Ron Johnson said the fight against Obamacare is entering a new phase: “We’ve got to start talking about transitioning.” Johnson won his Senate seat in 2010 based in large part on his fierce opposition to Obamacare, which he still adamantly opposes as an assault on Americans’ liberty and criticizes in the harshest terms (look no further than his recent weekly radio address). But simple repeal is no longer enough, he believes. He says that Republicans have to acknowledge that the law now exists. “How do you repeal?” he asks. “Yeah, you
President Obama´s appointment of Democratic adviser John Podesta, an opponent of the Keystone XL oil sands pipeline, to the White House could foretell a rejection of the controversial Canada-to-Texas pipeline, environmental groups said Tuesday. Podesta, former President Bill Clinton´s chief of staff and the man who headed Obama´s transition team, is leaving the top post of the Center for American Progress, a left-leaning think tank, for a new White House role focusing on climate change. Obama has vowed to lead an active White House on the issue — the president said in June he would rely on his executive authority to
President Obama is still holding back on firing anyone for the disastrous first two months of the Obamacare roll-out and instead is adding key staff to help steer a smoother course next year. While critics are still calling for heads to roll, some Republicans say Obama´s decision to bring in two well-known Washington players to help right the ship shows he´s serious about shaking up his second-term strategy and execution. Senators on both sides of the aisle are praising the prospect of Obama tapping veteran Democratic strategist John Podesta, a former chief of staff for President Bill Clinton. This week,
MSNBC anchor and NBC News political director and chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd lashed out at Fox News for what he described as "pandering to an audience" over their coverage of President Obama´s enthusiastic handshake with Cuban dictator Raul Castro at Tuesday´s memorial service for Nelson Mandela. Chuck Todd ? @chucktodd Follow Really? An entire segment on a handshake? Good grief; pandering to an audience 10:37 AM - 10 Dec 2013 The irony of an MSNBC anchor accusing another network of pandering to their audience requires no explanation. Todd joins CNN, Politico´s Dylan Byers, and a number of other
Another week, another flimsy attack in Gawker´s years-long crusade against Fox News and its CEO, Roger Ailes. This time, Gawker excited liberal mass media with a scandalized report on legal minutiae related to a settlement between Fox News and a former executive, Brian Lewis, who headed up public relations for the channel. Ailes fired Lewis last July "for cause," the story lending itself to media suggesting the departure exclusively resulted from communications with Soros-backed Ailes biographer Gabriel Sherman. In fact, a Breitbart News report cites a source close to the story then saying
A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) provided to Breitbart News exclusively ahead of its public release shows that President Barack Obama’s new amnesty for illegal aliens related to members of the U.S. military is a system full of loopholes. On Nov. 15, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a new memo detailing a new policy through which the Obama administration planned to exempt a new category of illegal aliens from deportation and other forms of enforcement of immigration law. CIS’s John Feere, in his report on the topic, detailed what the administration tried to make it
President Barack Obama may be recalling the lessons and story of Nelson Mandela at a memorial in South Africa today, but a series of photographs on the internet suggest another story may be being told. A series of pictures posted on the twitter account of ‘Stun’ show President Obama chatting with the prime minister of Denmark, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, as Michelle Obama looks on in a not-so-pleased manner.
Four days before the legal deadline, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said she had not yet signed up for Obamacare, but was still mulling over the plans and what might work best for her family. As of Dec. 9, the deadline for members of Congress, Wasserman’s office had not responded to CNSNews.com’s inquiry on whether the lawmaker had enrolled. In a CNN interview on Dec. 5, host Wolf Blitzer asked Rep. Wasserman Schultz, “Because you’re a member of Congress, you have to go to the healthcare.gov website. Have you done that already?” The congresswoman said, “Yes, I’m in the middle
Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) proposed legislation on Monday that would prevent the federal government from giving bonuses or raises to people who run state-level health insurance exchanges under ObamaCare. Gardner´s bill, H.R. 3679, is a response to a recent effort by Patty Fontneau, who runs Colorado´s health insurance exchange, to get a raise and bonus. Gardner said Fontneau is seeking a raise even though the Colorado exchange is far behind its enrollment target so far this year. The Denver Post reported just 6,000 Coloradans were signed up through mid-November, even though the exchange expected that enrollment of 11,000 people would be a
The 2013 winner of top political player on Capitol Hill is… Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.). The senator stands out as the leader of the Democrats’ historic move to go to the “nuclear option,” ending the paralysis by threat of filibuster that tied the Senate in knots for the last five years. The junior senator from the Beaver State showed a lot of political bite, in the form of persistence, and has become a left-wing hero as a result. Merkley, with a big assist from Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.), won the biggest vote of the year on Capitol Hill by convincing Democrats they were
Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday will announce $100 million in government spending on mental health services, trumpeting the investment during a meeting with family members of victims from the massacre in Newtown, Conn. The Department of Health and Human Services will spend $50 million to “establish or expand behavioral health services for people living with mental illness or addiction” and the Department of Agriculture will finance another $50 million “for the construction, expansion or improvement of mental health facilities in rural areas over the next three years,” according to a White House official. The HHS funding is being made available
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
President Obama, former president George W. Bush and their wives departed Washington Monday morning on Air Force One on their way to a memorial service in South Africa for Nelson Mandela. The president and first lady Michelle Obama are being accompanied by Mr. Bush, former first lady Laura Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on the flight to Johannesburg. A four-hour memorial service will be held on Tuesday for South Africa’s first black president. Mr. Mandela, the anti-apartheid revolutionary, died on Thursday at age 95. Former President Bill Clinton and daughter Chelsea are traveling separately to South Africa. Former President
President Obama will make remarks on Nelson Mandela´s legacy during a memorial service Tuesday for the late South African freedom fighter, officials said Monday. "We do expect President Obama to speak as part of the program," said Ben Rhodes, deputy national security adviser for strategic communications. The president and first lady Michelle Obama departed Monday for Johannesburg, where a Mandela memorial service will be held in a soccer stadium. Obama, who will also spend time with the Mandela family, is not scheduled to hold any bilateral meetings with foreign leaders while in South Africa, Rhodes said. Rhodes also said the
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. All three networks on Monday morning highlighted the appearance of the Obamas at the Kennedy Center Honors, but only ABC fawned over "fashion win" of First Lady. Lara Spencer enthused that " one of the stars of the show was Michelle Obama." An excited Spencer explained that Mrs. Obama looked "absolutely ravishing in a flowing teal gown as she accompanied President Obama." The co-host declared, "Another big fashion win for the First Lady. CBS This Morning offered a full report on the various performers who were honored, but co-anchor Charlie Rose avoided ABC´s superlatives.
An Iraq veteran who thought he was buying an iPad as a Christmas present after responding to a Craigslist posting, has been shot dead in an Indianapolis parking lot by the fake sellers. New-dad Jim Vester, 32, was lured to an address on Wednesday in the west side of the city and brothers Tyron Kincade, 19, and Tyshaune Kincade, 18, have been arrested after Vester was shot dead leaving behind his one-year-old son, Gavin and wife, Jamie.
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell believes the United States should have a socialized, single-payer healthcare system similar to those in Canada and Europe. “I think universal health care is one of the things we should really be focused on, and I hope that will happen,” Powell reportedly said last week. “Whether it’s Obamacare, or son of Obamacare, I don’t care. As long as we get it done.” The Puget Sound Business Journal reported Powell´s remarks at the Prostate Cancer Survivors Celebration Breakfast at the University of Washington´s Cancer Research Center. Powell, the Republican who supported Barack Obama during the last two presidential
