Analyst: End of Bundled Cable
Will Kill Over 80 Channels

Breitbart´s Big Journalism, by John Nolte

Original Article

With streaming television becoming more and more popular, and providers like Aereo making an end-run around cable and satellite providers, a lot of attention is being paid to the future of bundled cable. In a world of growing choices and a weak, jobless economy, how long can something last that charges customers a ton of money for dozens of channels they never watch? Bundled cable is, in my opinion, one of the greatest hustles ever perpetuated against the American people. The worst part is how it works as a kind of affirmative-action program for left-wing programming that likely

Comments:
I don´t like bundled cable, but I don´t want John McCain and the government to get involved. They are way too involved with the control of businesses in this country.

I haven´t paid for cable in over twenty years. First, it was offered for many years free at my apartment complex. Then, I discovered later, they forgot to throw the switch on me a year earlier. No problem. Hulu showed me that I could watch TV for "free," if I put up with their short commercials. Then, searching the Internet, found Crackle, which offers both TV & some movies.

My point is, there are ways not to be tied to the games that these cable-bundlers play. Since it´s inception, I hated paying for channels I never watched, especially since I thought cable was suppose to free US of "commercial" TV. What a lie. But, then you pay extra for those HBO, Showtime, etc. channels. So, what is their point other than to scam US after they collect for the commercials that pay for them?

Why should I subsidize BET, Univision, VH-1, MTV, CNN, MSNBC, Current TV, and a host of other channels I never watch? I say let the market determine which of these channels are good value for the money.

We have cable service with "only" 67 channels, however, watch only about 20 on a regular basis. That leaves 47 channels that we don´t want (eg BET, WE, MSNBC, Spanish channel, golf channel, MTV, etc, etc). However, we have ROKU, where we watch shows without commercials such as Covert Affairs, Justified, Alphas, and many others through Amazon prime. These shows are delivered on the internet and last only 40 minutes without commercials. I can see going without cable TV soon.

How much do I have to pay to make sure CBS, ABC, and NBC go away?

#7, online is the best source for info.I´d start with a Roku basic box. Mine cost about $40 and we use it on to feed 1 tv and 3 wireless computers with no problems. My isp is Time Warner and we have 20Mbps cable broadband fed through a wireless router. Netflix is $8 per month and we have Amazon prime so there is much programming. I´ve heard the leaf antenna is an effective means of accessing the free local hd channels.

Cincinnati Reds baseball is my main cable tv watching but it is almost as good over the radio.

A great number of those channels are leftoid propaganda outlets. The only way they can exist is because they are subsidized thru their inclusion in a bundle. If cable ends bundling can satellite be far behind? One certainly and most sincerely hopes not.

you´ve touched it #16, unless you´re in some favored community with free WiFi you´ve got to pay for the data pipe - cable & telco can deliver some impressive bandwidth and most of the time one or the other have a monopoly so they can charge whatever they can get away with

the few locations where FiOS and Cable are available to the same location have significantly lower bills

We have over 40 broadcast channels available, and about 100 on the lower two tiers of cable TV.

I watch SYFY ~ except on Friday when they do wrestling.

Usually catch SabadoGigante on Saturday. Dr. Who on Sunday. Some other stuff here and there.

Mostly we watch Korean language history recreation series on the net. Some have over 65 weeks of programs. Chicom archaeology programs are interesting ~

The other day I realized two things about TV. I don´t know the names of any of the anchors, and do the major networks still do evening TV?

Really ~ ten years without that stuff...... you begin to forget ~ saw a video of one of the anchors get a sigmoidoscopic examination. She´s dumpy.

Shut it off folks, it´s what will really start the revolution of choice in programming.

National security should serve policy objectives. It should not be a victim of political correctness. Politics should be kept especially far away from the practice of intelligence. Today´s decision by the NYPD to close the unit that was mapping Muslim communities in New York is very likely a product of political pressure. It is a decision that will make the city targeted in the largest terrorist attack in modern history less safe. How do you ensure that you won’t be ostracized, denounced, or fired if you are a media celebrity, captain of industry, or high public official? For some, sexist banter is certainly no problem. Stand-up comedian Bill Maher called Sarah Palin a c–t and a tw-t, but suffered no ill consequences. David Letterman joked on air that Sarah Palin’s 14-year-old daughter had had sex with Alex Rodriguez during a New York Yankees game. There was no downside to that either. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day.
