Kill ObamaCare
Now Or Never

Investor´s Business Daily, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:Desert Fox, 8/6/2013 7:21:27 PM

Politics: Republicans who´ve been viciously attacking a last-ditch defund ObamaCare effort should ask themselves: Will getting rid of this $1.4 trillion entitlement program be easier two years from now? Or four? Some Republicans and conservative pundits are in a lather lately, throwing brickbats like "the dumbest idea I´ve ever heard," "a fantasy," "the definition of insanity," "nuts" and something that will "deliver nothing other than pain." Oh, wait. Those aren´t criticisms of ObamaCare. They´re complaints from the likes of GOP Sens. Richard Burr and Tom Coburn, and various conservative pundits and bloggers about a proposal to defund ObamaCare.

Every week there is a new administration announcement of some piece that they are going to delay, ignore, exempt, or enforce rigorously. This must be excised from the Continuing Resolution. The President must declare what the rules will be on Jan 1, 2014. Then, and only then, there should be a House vote on funding for ObamaCare. As far as I´m concerned, if the President isn´t going to implement all of the law as written, the House shouldn´t fund it.

Time for the GOP "leadership" to put up or shut up. If not now, when? No more apologies, no more excuses, no more blaming your own base. Stand up, or stand aside. We´ve had it.

If the Pubs couldn´t win in 2012, what is different that will let them win in 2014 or 2016? Stolen election? What measures are now in place that will stop the Dems from stealing it again? Conservatives stayed home? I didn´t. Many others didn´t. What will making more excuses for caving now do to encourage those who stayed home last time to turn out next time? Win over the Hispanic vote? Good luck.

I you don´t have the cajones to use the only real power that you have, then stand down and get out of our way. It is time that you be replaced.

Tom Coburn has been a tremendous disappointment to conservative Okies (most of us) in the last few years. Clearly he has been in DC too long. I don´t know if he plans to run again, but if he does I expect he´ll have primary competition.

How about if the House passes a bill that says, simply:

Part 1) anyone, any business, any entity wishing to opt out may do so;

Part 2) all insurance companies may sell policies across any and all State lines;

Part 3) small businesses, even the tiniest, may combine together to purchase group plans.

Since there are already inequities, "carve-outs", special perogatives, priviledges and giveaways, the fact that there is NOT equal protection and treatment under BO´s plan, ought to nullify the entire bill.

Call it the "Freedom of Health Care Act".

We all hoped that a SCOTUS decision would euthanize Obamacare. Roberts queered that. No matter, we thought, President Romney will kill it. OOPS! No deus ex machina on that one either.

Now, courageous elected politicians are asking us to generate an overwhelming grassroots roar in support of their against-the-odds attempt to kill the beast while it´s still in its lair.

If they fail, it will be because we failed them.

Believe me, folks, frustration can turn guys like Ted Cruz and Mike Lee into limp leeches like McCain and Graham.

Remember this: you are not FORCED, by law, to buy those stupid-arsed curleycue light bulbs because the House voted to defund the enforcement of that law. [And I have a whole boxful of 100w incandescent bulbs in the attic because they waited until the 11th hour to do it.]

Well, that didn´t take long. As my colleague Edward Malnick reports, the first gay Church of England priest – a canon, no less – today married his boyfriend. Canon Jeremy Pemberton, 58, a divorced hospital chaplain and father of five, wed his long-term partner Laurence Cunnington, 51. We´re not told where, but obviously it wasn´t in an C of E church. That´s against the law. But they may well be able to have their marriage blessed in church because that´s only "against the rules" as opposed to illegal. Campaigners predicted that Canon Pemberton would be the first of many. I think

Nevada Cattle Rancher Wins

A Nevada cattle rancher appears to have won his week-long battle with the federal government over a controversial cattle roundup that had led to the arrest of several protesters. Cliven Bundy went head to head with the Bureau of Land Management over the removal of hundreds of his cattle from federal land, where the government said they were grazing illegally. Bundy claims his herd of roughly 900 cattle have grazed on the land along the riverbed near Bunkerville, 80 miles northeast of Las Vegas, since 1870 and threatened a "range war" against the BLM on the Bundy Ranch website after one of

The departure of Kathleen Sebelius from President Barack Obama’s cabinet removes a focal point for criticism over Obamacare’s troubled rollout, right at a moment when the White House can blunt attacks with enrollment numbers that exceeded targets. Senate confirmation hearings on the president’s choice to succeed Sebelius as Health and Human Services secretary, budget director Sylvia Mathews Burwell, will give Republicans days of media exposure for their criticism of a program that remains unpopular. Those hearings will now be held months ahead of midterm congressional elections, helping diminish the impact on voters. Sebelius’s departure also addresses demands from some Democrats for a change

BUNKERVILLE -- The gathering of rancher Cliven Bundy´s cattle in northeast Clark County has been stopped by the director of the Bureau of Land Management. Bundy is meeting this morning with Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie to discuss a possible solution to his dispute with the BLM. Metro Officer Jesse Roybal confirmed that Gillespie was in the Bunkerville area this morning to meet with Bundy. The BLM had been using contract cowboys to round up Bundy´s 900 head of cattle that have been grazing over 600,000 square acres in northeast Clark County for more than 20 years without his payment of grazing fees. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators.
