The Selling of Allen West, Inc.
The Atlantic, by Ben Terris & Shane Goldmacher

Original Article

The car bearing Allen West to the Capitol pulls over so the former House member can show identification to a security guard. The officer recognizes him instantly and pushes West´s ID away. Then he reaches into the passenger-side window and pulls the Army veteran in for a bro-hug. "We gotta get you back here," the officer says. "Oh, I´ll be back," West replies, flashing his slightly gap-toothed smile. "Tell the fellas." The truth is, Allen West never really left. During his single term in the House, which ended in January, he carved a path as distinctive as his trademark

These left-wing idiots at the Atlantic write a hit piece about a fine man like Allen West while supporting the return to Congress of a repugnant mental case like Alan Grayson. Tell me who your friends are and I´ll tell you what you are.

#1, because the pubbie establishment isn´t will to play hardball with the libtards (communists/socialists/fascists/nazis/and other collectivists) who are willing to steal elections. And flyover country hasn´t tuned in enough to realize yet that America is being destroyed by said libtards.

Never understood why he lost. Was it a case of looking into a far off land and not looking at the ground under your feet? The man who beat West was a 29 year old kid who worked for Daddy. Romney won the district. I personally love West and applaud his purposes and goals. But, he is not a good candidate. He does not seem to understand pressing the flesh and making voters identify with you. He must give voters the feeling he is not engaged in them. This is just my idea. We send him money for his re-election campaign and are not even in his state. But, the article gave me a better understanding of why he lost..too focused on West and not focused on the voters. Sad but true..most voters want to believe you care about their personal problems. I don´t care but most seem to do so. They vote with their feeeeeelings. Daddy´s boy made them feel good. West challenged them to be better. Never underestimate the low level of sense of most voters. And, Florida is particularly prone to vote strangely.

Vatican’s secret, and deadly,

Inspired by Ancient Egypt, the Vatican embarked on a 40-year quest to preserve the remains of its holy adherents — including one of its latest saints, Pope John XXIII The spiritual making of a saint is rooted in law, bureaucracy and, of course, faith. The physical making of a saint is something else entirely. On April 27, popes John XXIII and John Paul II will be granted sainthood by Pope Francis. It will be a day to honor two of the Catholic Church’s most popular leaders, the “Good Pope” who served only five years, and the superstar who toured the

Sunday marks the fourth anniversary of Obamacare’s signing on March 23, 2010. Democratic Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy said that at this point Democrats “have a really good story to tell.” But Americans outside of Washington, D.C. are also telling their own stories about the health care law. To commemorate the anniversary, Republican Ohio Rep. Bob Gibbs this week asked people on his Facebook page to share how “this law has impacted your life.” A few of the answers to Gibbs’ question are presented below. Please mark this anniversary by sharing your own stories about Obamacare impact in the Comments section. The president

With many political debates, I try to give opponents the benefit of the doubt on intentions. Sure, raising taxes is a bad thing, but some politicians and pundits believe higher taxes will benefit society. Some people think we need to spend more, and others really fear climate change. When it comes to the HHS abortifacient/contraception/sterilization mandate, however, I’ve almost stopped being that generous with the left’s media and thought leaders. This New York Times Magazine editorial is a prime example as to why. Almost from start to finish, the piece misleads and misdirects readers about the mandate, its opponents, and

KIEV, Ukraine -- A Ukrainian air force commander is being held after his base in Crimea was stormed by pro-Russian forces, and the acting president called for his release Sunday. Col. Yuliy Mamchur is the commander of the Belbek Air Force base near Sevastopol, which was taken over Saturday by forces who sent armored personnel carriers smashing through the base´s walls and fired shots and stun grenades. One Ukrainian serviceman was reported wounded in the clash. It was unclear if the forces, who didn´t bear insignia, were Russian military or local pro-Russia militia. WASHINGTON — Russia’s annexation of Crimea, made official on Friday, was either entirely predictable or a total surprise. Russian President Vladimir Putin is either a madman acting on impulse or a calculating architect rebuilding the Soviet Union. Ukraine’s new leaders might be democratic reformists or, as Putin prefers, “nationalists, neo-Nazis, Russophobes and anti-Semites.” And the United States either wields tough sanctions tools that’ll isolate Moscow -- or has so little influence over events that U.S. policy is outdated and irrelevant.(Snip)President Barack Obama hasn’t offered an explanatory speech to the American people about why the Ukraine-Russia crisis is or isn’t of

CVS, the nation’s second-largest pharmacy chain, recently decided to stop selling tobacco products. That was all well and good: There’s nothing objectionable about a corporation making the decision to stop selling a product that is well-known to be harmful. More troublingly, last week, the attorneys general of 28 states, led by New York’s Eric Schneiderman and Ohio’s Mike DeWine, sent a vaguely threatening letter to five other large chains—Walmart, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Safeway, and Kroger—“urging” them to do
