Jeff Bezos on Post purchase
Washington Post, by Jeff Bezos

Original Article

Posted By:JoniTx, 8/5/2013 7:41:45 PM

To the employees of The Washington Post: You’ll have heard the news, and many of you will greet it with a degree of apprehension. When a single family owns a company for many decades, and when that family acts for all those decades in good faith, in a principled manner, in good times and in rough times, as stewards of important values – when that family has done such a good job – it is only natural to worry about change. So, let me start with something critical. The values of The Post do not need changing.

FTA: Our touchstone will be readers, understanding what they care about...

OK, Jeff, here´s one thing we care about...the truth, not one-sided propaganda. That´s one value that needs changing at the Post. If Amazon had decided to relentlessly alienate 50% of its potential market, as the Post has done, you would not today be able to buy the Post. Newsweek, perhaps, but that´s another story.

It is a level of stupidity that I find absolutely stunning. They live on advertising revenue. The country tanks, due to Øbama policies that are anti-business. Advertising drops to less than 50% of what it generated when Øbama took office. They keep right on supporting the dummy business destroyer Prez and then they wonder why they don´t generate revenue! How in the world did these people get rich in the first place? Can anyone be this dumb and still know how to breathe?

Bezos told them a lie to hide his next steps.

Give ´em a month and they´ll mostly be ON THE STREET.

I see an electronic presence in sight ~ looks remarably like all the other sites except the advertising is a tad more local ~ if you want national advertising you go to AMAZON.

Basically, this is a version of the way big city daily newspapers would acquire suburban weeklies for the purpose of creating a new advertising zone ~ sure, there´d be local news (here that´s the US gub´mnts headquarters operations for all the major federal agencies) , but it would definitely not take up any above the fold spots where meaningful furniture, mattress and carpeting sales could be announced.

The Senate approved a bill Monday to bar a former hostage-taker tapped to be Iran´s ambassador to the United Nations from entering the United States. By voice vote, Republicans and Democrats united behind the legislation sponsored by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, that reflected congressional animosity toward Tehran and its selection of Hamid Aboutalebi. Iran´s envoy choice was a member of a Muslim student group that held 52 Americans hostage for 444 days in the 1979 seizure of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran. President Barack Obama today suggested that’s he’ll pressure Congress to to reduce voters’ student-loan payments before the November elections. “We’ve got to make it easier to repay student loans,” he told a subdued and unresponsive audience at Bladensburg High School, in Prince George’s County, Md. He used the same student-loan pitch in the run-up to the 2012 election, which helped him improve his support among younger voters, many of whom are having difficulty earning enough in the Obama economy to pay off their college debts. In June 2012, Congress voted to delay a planned increase in student-loan interest rates, after

Other than being far and away the best film yet to come out of the ho-hum Marvel Universe, "Captain America: Winter Soldier" is a blatant $175 million "screw you" to Barack Obama´s surveillance state, and especially the President´s dishonesty and rationale surrounding it. Obama might have destroyed America´s economic recovery and healthcare system, but we can at least thank him for inspiring a 4.5 star superhero movie. With the exception of the first "Iron Man," Marvel´s heavy mythology, even heavier CGI, and over-reliance on flashy Euro-trash villains disguised as non-humans has left me cold. Call it the million-worker mystery. A large chunk of American adults are no longer in the labor force. That has left economists divided over how many of them are voluntarily not working-or even looking for work-because they wanted to retire, go to school or take care of family members, versus how many have been forced out because they couldn´t find a job.
