Wall Street Journal, by Jennifer Valentino-DeVries*

Law-enforcement officials in the U.S. are expanding the use of tools routinely used by computer hackers to gather information on suspects, bringing the criminal wiretap into the cyber age. Federal agencies have largely kept quiet about these capabilities, but court documents and interviews with people involved in the programs provide new details about the hacking tools, including spyware delivered to computers and phones through email or Web links—techniques more commonly associated with attacks by criminals. People familiar with the Federal Bureau of Investigation´s programs say that the use of hacking

With the dangerous, tryannical 0bama regime you can bet they spy on a lot more than "suspects." And you wonder why 0bama won the last election. Call me extremely cynical. What assorted bag of tricks did they use? Obviously the gross abuse of power by the IRS was just one thing they did.

@OP: Shhhhhh! Darrel Issa thinks the GOP can score voter points by keeping the WH scandals front and center. Meanwhile, Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor and Boehner are busy killing their chances by ramming `immigration reform` down our throats.

Circular firing squad comes to mind.

In a statement put into the record at a Jan. 29, 2014 hearing of the House Armed Services Committee’s Subcommittee on Military Personnel, retired Lt. Gen. William “Gerry” Boykin, said religious liberty is a “core value of our nation,” and that religious beliefs “sustain” troops who face harm or death in the course of performing their duties. “In sum, religious freedom and expression is not something to be given begrudging accommodation,” Boykin, the former commander of the U.S. Special Forces Command, said on behalf of the Family Research Council (FRC) as its executive vice president. “It is a core value

Less than 12 hours after actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead of an apparent heroin overdose in his Manhattan apartment, conservative commentator Ben Shapiro thought it would be appropriate to mark the occasion by attributing his death to America’s “broken leftist culture.” In what could only have been a hastily-produced, 130-word blog post on the National Review’s website, Shapiro briefly praised the actor’s “talent” before using his untimely death to critique those godless Hollywood liberals. Below is Shapiro’s post in its entirety: Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of the most talented actors of his generation, a leading man without

The IRS´ announcement Monday that it will pay cancelled 2013 bonuses has infuriated Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch, who wants to know why an agency with employees who “inappropriately” targeted conservative political groups would reinstate the rewards. “The IRS is accused of targeting conservative groups, with many of its employees having conducted themselves in a manner inappropriate for government officials, and the agency decides to reinstate employee bonuses?” asked Hatch, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee. “This is outrageous.” The announcement was made by new IRS Commissioner John Koskinen, who said the performance bonuses were reinstated after agency employees repeatedly

Two leading advocates of direct American involvement in Syria´s civil war say the Obama administration may be considering taking a greater role. Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., say Secretary of State John Kerry made blunt remarks during a bipartisan meeting Sunday indicating a more aggressive U.S. policy may be in the works. The meeting with McCain, Graham, and thirteen other members of Congress took place at a Munich hotel. Afterwards, the senators briefed three reporters about their off-the-record meeting with Kerry. In a pre-Super Bowl interview with Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly, President Barack Obama went after the host and his employer for investigating issues like the White House’s response to the Benghazi attack and the Internal Revenue Service’s undue targeting of conservative groups. On Monday, O’Reilly played portions of his interview with Obama that were not broadcast on Sunday which revealed details of the president’s thinking on the Keystone XL Pipeline, the cultural issues facing African-American families, and how Fox News covers the White House. O’Reilly asked Obama about the large number of children being born to unwed black mothers.

President Obama and other Democrats made a series of promises regarding Obamacare, including “If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.” But reality is saying otherwise, and many Americans are finding that Obamacare is costing them their doctors in one way or another. The most common way new Obamacare plans that replace plans have smaller networks. The doctor you and your family have been seeing are now out of network. Democrat Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (NH) gave an interview on WKXL radio on Friday. She offered a solution to the doc drop problem, but it’s one that most people

It seems as though just about every television show, whether comedy or drama now has a gay character as a regular. It´s not surprising that homosexuality has become mainstream in our culture because nearly everyone has a relative or friend who is gay and we have been deeply influenced by those words of Harvey Fierstein who said, "I just want to be loved. As the commentary around the recent deaths of Nelson Mandela, Amiri Baraka and Pete Seeger made abundantly clear, most of what Americans think they know about capitalism and communism is arrant nonsense. This is not surprising, given our country’s history of Red Scares designed to impress that anti-capitalism is tantamount to treason. In 2014, though, we are too far removed from the Cold War-era threat of thermonuclear annihilation to continue without taking stock of the hype we’ve been made, despite Harry Allen’s famous injunction, to believe.
