Senators Mike Lee, Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and Marco Rubio insist they will fund the government only if it defunds the Affordable Care Act (ACA). But here’s the thing: They know their gambit won’t work. Defunding ObamaCare while Republicans control just one half of one third of the federal government is a pipe dream. What we need to understand, then, is that in this instance victory is beside the point. There’s no realistic legislative method that Republicans have that is capable of defunding the ACA. The fight is what matters. What Lee & Co. are arguing

The law stipulates that only those who earn 130% of the poverty level may apply for a federal subsidy IF they purchase insurance from a State created exchange. Obama is not going to give the money to people who claim they are purchasing from an exchange and claim to make more than 130% of the poverty level. But, they have no intention of checking income or even verifying that they are actually paying for insurance. So someone on Medicaid can keep their benefits while collecting thousands for a subsidy for which they don´t qualify.

Delaying the corporation mandate is against the very law obama signed. Louder voices are needed to make all hear. Not verifying income for subsidized obamacare is also against the law......and this smuck thinks he is the only one capable and intelligent to understand the constitution. The constitution spells out the extent of ´his´ powers. And, These AIN´T those!

Does it ever occur to people like Mr Wehner that you never know until you try. The majority of people in this country are against Obamacare and they don´t care about politics twenty-four hours a day, they just want to see someone, anyone have a backbone and battle for the people. Rove, Wehner are can´t do people. Americans are, or used to be can do people. I totally agree with Senator Cruz, no surrender.

Thank you OP, for bringing this somewhat pessimistic article to our attention.

Though the odds seem to be against the defund CACA (Comprehensive Affordable Care Act) ploy, it seems worth the attempt.

In appreciation for the stalwarts who advocate this strategy, and in solidarity with free men everywhere, I give you the timeless wisdom of Emiliano Zapata:

Kostya Kennedy in his new biography, Pete Rose: An American Dilemma, examines the hit king’s impressive baseball career and fall from grace in an era of asterisks. His chapters alternate between Rose’s impressive chronology and present-day Cooperstown. For anyone who missed it, Pete Rose won Rookie of the Year with the Cincinnati Reds in 1963. MVP awards and six World Series appearances followed. He left for Philadelphia in 1979 as the highest-paid athlete in America. In 1984 he was “repatriated to the Reds” as player-manager and soon broke Ty Cobb’s all-time hit record. His professional baseball days ended in 1989

Iran has named a member of the militant group that held 52 Americans hostage in Tehran for 444 days to be its next ambassador to the United Nations. The Iranian government has applied for a U.S. visa for Hamid Aboutalebi, Iran’s former ambassador to Belgium and Italy, who was a member of the Muslim Students Following the Imam’s Line, a group of radical students that seized the U.S. embassy on Nov. 4, 1979. I’ve gone through a few reports of this story and it’s still not clear why Kevin Mclaughlin went into the Dollar General in Orrville, Alabama last week, but it certainly wasn’t to find a good deal on tube socks. He began shouting and waving a gun around, herding customers and an employee into a back room. Things were looking bad, but that’s when he ran into Marlo Ellis. One person is dead after a customer at the Dollar General in Orrville began shouting and waving his gun in the air. Dallas County Sheriff

Authorities in Washington state said Sunday that dog teams assisting in the search effort after last week´s deadly mudslide would be given two days off as the official death toll increased from 18 to 21. The dogs can lose their sensing ability if overworked in the cold and rain. WASHINGTON -- Even if Democrats recruit great candidates, raise gobs of money and run smart campaigns, they face an uphill fight to retake control of the House in this year´s congressional elections, regardless of the political climate in November. The reason? Republican strategists spent years developing a plan to take advantage of the 2010 census, first by winning state legislatures and then redrawing House districts to tilt the playing field in their favor. Their success was unprecedented. In states like Ohio, Michigan and North Carolina, Republicans were able to shape congressional maps to pack as many Democratic voters as possible into the

The search for debris from missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370 has not turned up any evidence of a crash, but it has trained the world’s gaze on thousands of pieces of junk floating on the ocean’s surface. Much of that debris could be made up of plastics, old appliances or parts of homes that have washed away from fragile communities, and cargo containers from ships, according to ocean advocacy group One World One Ocean. The news media were ecstatic when the government said in January that the economy grew by 3.2 percent in the final three months of 2013. It was convincing proof, they said on the nightly news, that the economy had finally recovered from its chronic lethargy. However, according to a revised estimate released Thursday by the U.S. Commerce Department´s Bureau of Economic Analysis, that 3.2 percent figure was a wild exaggeration. The U.S. gross domestic product (GDP), the broadest measure of our country’s entire economic output, grew no more than 2.6 percent in the fourth quarter — a pitifully low growth rate for

The former acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, John Sandweg, published an op-ed this week calling, in effect, for the abolition of immigration law. Sandweg, a criminal defense attorney and Arizona crony of Janet Napolitano, wrote in relation to President Obama’s directive that ICE reexamine enforcement policies with an eye toward making them more “humane.” To that end, he says ICE “should eliminate ‘non-criminal re-entrants and immigration fugitives’ as a priority category for deportation.” What that means is that people who have been formally deported and then sneak back in should be exempted from further attempts at removing them, even though

If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.
