IRS Chief: I Want to Keep
My Health Care Plan, Not
Switch to Obamacare

Weekly Standard, by Daniel Halper

Original Article

IRS chief Daniel Werfel says he wants to keep his health care plan, not switch to Obamacare: [Video] "Mr. Werfel, last week your employees who are a member of the National Treasury Employee´s Union sent a form letter for union members to send in to ask they be exempt from the exchanges," a congressman asked. "Why are your employees trying to exempt themselves from the very law that you´re tasked to enforce?" "I don´t want to speak for the NTEU, but I´ll offer a perspective as a federal employee myself and a federal employee at the IRS,"

This is always the way with government. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and many other programs are overseen by people who don´t have any "skin in the game"

Anyone who has a decent health insurance plan wants to keep it.

Would be one thing if the exchanges were ready for prime time. But that´s doubtful.

I don´t fault anyone who wants to avoid the coming train wreck.

The man is right, the IRS employees just like all other federal employees are covered under a health care plan that is essentially an insurance exchange that gives them the choice of a number of plans at differing costs. As an example the Blue Cross Blue Shield family coverage plan, their biggest plan, costs the federal employees about $500.00 per month. That federal employees plan is a good one, and the federal employees like it, so why should they have to give up their healthcare insurance that they have maintained sometimes for decades, remember the federal employees had no input into the passage of Obama care, and certainly the IRS employees did not ask to be tasked to enforce Obama care provisions.

Well, since We pay for your health care plan, if Zippycare is good enough for US, it´s good enough for everybody. No exemptions.

Anyone remember when Bob Dole ran for prez and someone asked how many plans he had to chose from and he said he didn´t know for sure, about 80 plans.

Living in the bubble.

#1 ~ Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid are managed in a variety of ways. SS is operated directly by the government. Medicare is contraced out to specialists in the business of handling Medicare paperwork and claims. Medicaid is managed by contractors in some places, and state governments in others.

US gub´mnt employees have been required to pay Social Security and Medicare ~ (since 1987) ~

Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) plan operates an Exchange. Bob Dole is an idiot and always was an idiot. He was never given a choice of 80 different plans ~ the FEHB booklet just looks that way. He probably had 10 plans available in the DC area ~ due mostly to the multi-state situation here. (BTW, we had several group HMO plans until recent years when Kaiser gobbled them all up, so now there´s just a couple of choices)

The FEHB exchange was thought to be a suitable model for the ObamaKKKare exchanges. Reading through the legislation reveals them to be modeled more after the state assigned risk insurance pools than the FEHB.

The best move is to write your senators and representatives to demand repeal. Getting even with your letter carrier isn´t going to protect you from Obama and his running dog lackeys.

Of course government employees want to keep their plan. It doesn´t cost them jack and gives them Cadillac service. Problem is there isn´t enough money in the whole country to give that to everyone. Nor enough money to continue giving that to all the government employees.

I don´t work for the government. I don´t want to keep my plan. It covers too much. It´s too bureaucratic. It doesn´t offer enough incentive to keep costs down. I want everyone to start paying more of their own money at the point of service. I want government regulation out. That will get the market back in. Prices will go down due to market forces. I want to be allowed to buy a 5k$ deductible major medical policy. Such policies have not been allowed in my state for decades. I want my employer out of my health care.

#11 ~ when I first signed up for a medical insurance plan it was $1.50 per pay period ~ SELF ONLY ~ LOW OPTION ~ with 26 pay periods per year that wasn´t all that bad a deal.

That was with the gub´mnt!

Obviously this stuff has gotten out of hand. Back then not a single policy available to anyone anywhere in American offered FULL PAYMENT for hospitalization!

Best I could get was 30% ~ I"d have to bankrupt myself to pay the rest of it I suppose.

The cash infusion by the federal government is actually going to help the city pay pensions, even though they´re playing a kind of shell game with the money. As for "blight removal," perhaps they could start with city hall. Reuters: Michigan officials and President Barack Obama´s Administration are discussing a plan to free up $100 million in federal money to aid Detroit´s retired city workers, the Detroit Free Press reported on Tuesday. Citing two people familiar with the talks, the newspaper said the talks were centered around federal money flowing to Michigan for blight removal. Under the plan, $100 million

Built in the 1920s, the house featured a small kitchen, dining room and living room on the main floor, while the second floor contained a bathroom, several bedrooms and an enclosed porch. Although the Civil Rights Act, the landmark legislation which just reached its 50th anniversary, made great strides in desegregating the economy, economic discrimination is still widespread, and anti-discrimination legislation alone can never rectify the economic damage inflicted upon blacks by slavery and our Jim Crow apartheid regime. The Civil Rights Act was a mild reform, all things considered, but one conservatives fought with vigor and one many conservatives are still bitter about to this day. When the Civil Rights Act passed in 1964, the primary purpose was to root out discrimination in public accommodations (like hotels and movie theaters)
