Abortion and Informed Consent
American Thinker, by Carol Brown

Original Article

Posted By:magnante, 7/31/2013 7:32:48 AM

Informed consent is a big deal in health care. And it should be. (snip) Once a woman says she wants an abortion, medical standards and norms change. If the process of getting informed consent involves making the unknown, known, the process in the abortion industry is all about unknowing. When I regrettably and wrongly had an abortion many years ago, no one at Planned Parenthood explained anything to me -- and I mean nothing -- about my baby´s development. No one even showed me a picture of a 3-month old baby in the womb.

Thoughtful, well-written article. It always amazes me that we would never consider a 12 year-old capable of giving informed consent for an appendectomy but society believes that same 12 year-old is fully capable of obtaining an abortion.

Abortion is the ultimate purging or ´do-over´ of one´s personal responsibility. It´s not bad enough that women have been capable of ending a pregnancy for thousands of years, they want a moral society to alleviate their shame & pay for their sins.

Having grown up in the 70s, after abortion became legal, I was aware of women who bragged about abortion, as if it were initiation into the feminist hall of fame. But taking a life has consequences, and only psychopaths can ignore their own conscience.

Now, they are like drug pushers thinking that if they get someone else to make the same choice, it justifies their own. Since when do drug pushers care about the health or well-being of those they hook?

A long time ago, I used to walk with a neighbor every morning for exercise. She was very pro-abort and once complained that women who had had abortions shouldn´t be allowed to give talks to students about what a mistake they had made. I asked her then if former alcoholics or addicts should also be banned from talking to high school kids warning them of the dangers. She had no reply.
BTW..she was adopted, I never once brought up to her the alternative her birth mother had. You would think she could have figured that out herself, but liberals really are pretty stupid.

Last November I was hauled into court in Reno, Nevada because my retarded daughter was pregnant. The court implied that I had violated her Constitutional "rights" by forgetting to sit her down and advise her that she could kill the child. The judge appointed an attorney for her. That attorney spewed forth a loud monologue about "rights." No one knew if my daughter was smart to enough to say yes or no, but that prevailing bias was that the child should be killed.
The child is now 3 months old.
She is not retarded.
The judge, and the lawyer were wrong.

IIRC sometime in the 80´s pro-life groups tried to get a law passed that would anesthetize the unborn child prior to an abortion by dissection or saline. The pro-choice groups actively fought it & won; that told me all I needed to know about them.

I´m still amazed that prevention is a choice they choose not to make - even with the threat of AIDS, HIV, herpes or a number of other STDs.

Something I haven´t seen anywhere in the MSM is a report on a recent study by researchers at the University of Siena (Italy) - showing a "clear link between abortion and subsequent mental illnesses like depression, substance abuse, and post-traumatic stress disorder."

There was also a similar study here in the U.S. at Bowling Green State University in 2011: "found that women who underwent an abortion experienced an 81% increased risk of mental health problems."

All info is online.

So blares a poster on exhibit at the taxpayer-funded University of Michigan. So far, I have been able to find no protests from the ACLU or other groups that decry religious expression at venues that belong to governmental authorities. The poster is the work of Heather Ault, and is part of a campaign called “4000 years of choice.” Ms. Ault sounds like real charmer and came to her views through a bitter experience:

“Your father’s coming to see you,” Ann Dunham told her ten-year-old son Barack Obama, Jr. before a month-long Obama Sr. Christmas visit in 1971, as narrated in Dreams from My Father. Obama Sr.´s Hawaii visit, reportedly part of a "recuperation" after a "bad car accident" in Kenya, included "drives" around "the island," "short walks past" "the remodeled hospital where [Barack Jr.] had been born," and "a talk" to Barack Jr.´s fifth-grade class about "wild animals" that "roamed the plains" of Kenya. The latest Battleground Poll, compared with prior Battleground Polls, shows the percentage of Americans who describe themselves as “conservative” dropping. The percentage is lower than almost any Battleground Poll in the last fifteen years. The percentage of Americans who call themselves “liberal,” by contrast, is at an all-time high. Modification in the demographics of the poll sample may have something to do with the change. Women form 53% of the sample, while women are 50.6% of the population. Blacks are 13% of the Battleground sample, a smidgen more that the black percentage of the population. As I noted a few years

The April Fool’s Day show put on in the Rose Garden yesterday was no triumph, but rather an act of desperation, touting “enrollment” numbers generated without any transparency, intended to arrest the downward spiral of Obamacare and the Democratic Party’s electoral prospects. Obama himself gave away the game unintentionally, in what poker players call a “tell” that consisted of two parts. The first part of the tell was the obvious outright lie told by the president in a “poor me” moment of self-pity. From the official transcript: And we didn’t make a hard sell.
