Trayvon’s mother: Stand Your Ground
helped Zimmerman get away

Miami Herald, by Marc Caputo

The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get

No Ma´am, your inability to parent your son is what got him into the situation. Your inability to teach him right from wrong, your unwillingness to focus on grooming him to be a responsible adult is what turned him into the gang banging thug he was. Between your lack of parenting skills and his biological father´s lack of caring how his son turned out is what killed your son. Experience in dealing with young men and women like your son, his main strike against him...neither parent cared enough.

The article is poorly written (it is the Miami Herald after all) that it is impossible to really understand what went on. But one would hope that at least one lawyer understood that the Stand Your Ground statute was not used in this case. Perhaps I hope too much. And I am a lawyer.

When Trayvon sucker punched George Zimmerman to the ground then mounted him and began raining punches down on his face, "Stand Your Ground" no longer applied, since a beating victim will have a difficult time standing his ground when he´s already being pinned down and pummelled. Martin thought he had a made to order, possibly gay, victim, but never figured the guy had a gun. Bad decision. Fatal decision. The thug took a round through the heart. Fight over. T.S.

Let´s see if I have this right Ms. Fulton. The rest of us must accept any beating such as was being dished out by your thuggish son to George Zimmerman, by any other punk we might confront. Might I suggest you walk the streets of Chicago at, say, 1 AM and see if you really want to give up your right to self defense. I certainly do not and should we ever cross paths, I will certainly make you understand such. Had you not raised a "typical" black youth of today, perhaps yours like so many thousands of others would be alive today. Want to know who is REALLY responsible for your son´s death. You and his father stand in front of a mirror and take a good look.

She raised a son dumb enough to bring his fists to a gun fight. Trayvon thought he had an easy victim to suckerpunch, and it didn´t work out.

She is on bam´s (re-embursed, (but not directly with money)) staff whose mission is to gut the 2nd Amendment. SYG was never a part of this incident/case. bam and his thugs are just keeping the fire stoked long enough to get traction when another shooting takes place (except if that shooting occurs in chi-thug town). its all about getting the "folks" spun up again.

To Trayvon´s Mom: Take the million dollar settlement from Zimmerman´s homeowners association and just go away.

Your thuggish son would have been killed or sent to prison if Zimmerman had not done the work for you, it would have been someone else.

Your act might work with Shake Down artists like Sharpton and Jackson, but normal people see the truth.

PS you should have had a government paid for abortion when you had the chance unless by not having one, it would increase your welfare benefits.

TM was a thug who tried to murder a man. He died because his intended victim protected himself. TM was no hero. The State of Florida is not to blame.

Three people are to blame: (1) the thug who attacked an innocent man, (2) TM´s father who was an absentee father, and (3) the mother who is blaming everyone but herself.

It is amazing that George had enough restraint to pop Martin only once. Many would have emptied the magazine. Too bad the man attacked by 10 punks who looked like Zero in "Charm City" or once referred to as "the city that reads" better known as Balmor didn´t have a S&W M&P 9mm with a 17 shot magazine. He may have been able to save himself. This guy was attacked within a few blocks of the touristy inner harbor and Little Italy. Where is the Mafia when you need it? Of course being attacked by 10 thugs is not a life threatening situation. Baltimore a once great city destined to follow Detroit. See Anything in common here?

Her guilt fled into the shadows when she decided to sell hoodies over Trayvon´s grave
It slid under the door when she collected from the innocent HMO payers.
It never appeared when she left him for someone else to try to raise.
What could have or should have been was lost before his journey began.
Based on that --yes -- we can feel sorrow for a life lost before it could be found.
. What we cannot do is overlook careless parenting that leads to destruction of any life.
Take your guilt up mom and seek your own salvation because you destroy only yourself on this false pathway .

Back in 1983, Sybrina Fulton´s cousin was sent to jail for murder, after he shot a man. He appealed his very long sentence claiming Florida´s "Stand Ground Law."

He lost, apparently because he shot the guy four times. It wasn´t the first time he shot someone, either.

It is my understanding that Trayvon hadn´t lived with his mother in quite some time. He had been living with his step mother (Tracy Martin´s second ex-wife) and she sent him to live with an aunt. The aunt kicked him out after his last suspension and put him on a bus to live with his dad and his dad´s girlfriend (who would be Tracy Martin´s 4th or 5th "baby momma").

It is also my understanding that Tracy Martin never called the police about his missing son nor did anything else until contacted by the police more than 24 hours after the incident.

If any of this is in error, please correct me.

Just ahead of a possible Hillary run for the presidency, the Clinton Library released a new load of documents from President Bill Clinton’s years in the White House. One of those documents attempts to explain Hillary´s "vast right-wing conspiracy" claim in which the Clinton administration accused Republican staffers of colluding with "extremists" on the Internet to hurt the Clintons. On January 27, 1998, Hillary Clinton appeared on NBC´s Today Show. As the nation awaits Hillary Clinton´s decision of whether or not she will run for president in 2016, a cache of 7,500 pages of newly released documents from Bill Clinton´s years in the White House show some familiar political themes. One revelation is that Bill Clinton worried that a massive new healthcare scheme would cause Americans to lose their insurance. In 1993, the President allowed his wife, first lady Hillary Clinton, to become the face of an Obamacare-like takeover of the nation´s healthcare system. The plan was sarcastically dubbed Hillarycare. But as these internal documents show, in what is now a

WASHINGTON AND NEW YORK - In September 2001, as the U.S. reeled from the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Vladimir Putin supported Washington´s imminent invasion of Afghanistan in ways that would have been inconceivable during the Cold War. He agreed that U.S. planes carrying humanitarian aid could fly through Russian air space. He said the U.S. military could use airbases in former Soviet republics in Central Asia. And he ordered his generals to brief their U.S. counterparts on their own ill-fated 1980s occupation of Afghanistan. During Putin´s visit to President George W. Bush´s Texas ranch two

Political debate in America last week revolved around whether or not Jeb Bush, Florida´s former governor who is son or brother to two former US presidents – both named George – would jump into the 2016 battle for the Republican presidential nomination. For a nation that fought a war for independence from the hereditary power of the British Crown, in the person of another fellow named George, the concept of nominating a third Bush to run for the White House against a second Clinton (the former

These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after

That was quite a victory dance President Obama did Thursday while claiming Obamacare is “working” because eight million people have now supposedly signed up for the health care program. He even indulged in some less-than-subtle mockery of Republicans - and by extension the majority of Americans who have disapproved of Obamacare since before it became law. "The repeal debate is and should be over,” Obama said, taking a dig at Republicans who are “going through, you know, the stages of grief … anger and denial and all that stuff …” But a president who is viewed by most Americans as less

WASHINGTON--Rushing to an afternoon vote last month, Sen. Ted Cruz hopped the underground tram to the U.S. Capitol from his office across the street. The Texan planted his black ostrich cowboy boots in the middle of the small subway car without getting so much as a nod from the other senators--Republican or Democrat--amiably chatting or huddled in their seats. Mr. Cruz finds himself standing alone a lot these days. His response to the cold shoulders: "The establishment despised Ronald Reagan" before he became president, "but the people loved him." For the 43-year-old Republican, the Reagan name illuminates his political life´s

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

In a speech earlier this week, Lisa O. Monaco, President Barack Obama’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism, insisted that American parents must be vigilant because their “confrontational” children could be on the verge of becoming terrorists. Monaco’s full, prepared text is available here. She presented the speech, entitled “Countering Violent Extremism and the Power of Community,” at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government on April 15. Monaco began her remarks by eloquently describing the lives tragically lost last year during the Boston Marathon bombings. Interestingly, the Harvard grad failed to mention the religion or the motive of brothers Dzhokhar and Tamerlan

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney — has taken up the mantra once again, calling on Republicans to give the failed White House bidder another shot in 2016. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

Prominent Washington correspondents are accusing President Obama and his aides of knowingly stretching the truth on issues like the so-called women´s pay gap just to create controversy and keep issues -- and the president -- relevant. Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus kicked off the attack last week when she blasted as “demagoguery” the administration´s tactics during the pay gap debate. “The level of hyperbole -- actually, of demagoguery -- that Democrats have engaged in here is revolting,” she wrote. CBS White House Correspondent Major Garrett then weighed in this week in his National Journal
