More About The 40-Year-Old
Picture That Makes People Smile

High Plains Public Radio (KS), by Luis Clemens

Original Article

Posted By:Scottyboy, 7/29/2013 11:57:39 AM

About 10 days ago, we posted a story about an almost 40 year-old photo that was taken by Joseph Crachiola. A former news photographer in the Detroit suburb of Mount Clemens, Mich., Crachiola had happened upon five children playing not far from his newsroom at the Macomb Daily and shot the above photo. Crachiola posted the photo on Facebook, because it seemed like balm for the anger many people had over the recent acquittal of Florida resident George Zimmerman in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, and it struck a chord. Facebook hits and shares immediately skyrocketed.

Comments:
Thought this was nice. An "Old" Photo of children in Detroit....back before a certain political faction fully established the welfare state and began the class wars.

Long gone in more ways than one. Today, if the two kids on the right acted similarly school officials would have them disciplined for "inappropriate contact."

No, it isn´t long gone, #1. Not entirely. Not yet. It is still happening in small towns all over the heartland where many people still hold traditional family values.
But, it will be long gone, if we don´t hold fast to those values that make us the kind of people we should be.

What´s the big deal? I´ve got old family albums full of photos just like that, taken in the late 40´s, through the 50´s and into the 60´s. It´s how some of us grew up. In the SOUTH.

It´s what makes today´s climate of near race wars so inexplicable. It´s what breaks my heart. To see us come so far past the days of Whites Only drinking fountains and lunch counters, only to see us kicked right back to the days of Bull Connor, thanks to the student of Black Liberation Theology, the Marxist Thug who occupies the White house [when he´s not flying off on millions of dollars vacations].

Excellent points from poster numbers 2 and 4. Thanks for pointing that out.

Liberalism is an illness for which there is no cure except a miracle. There have been only a few. David Horowitz comes to mind.

Zerobama is accomplishing EXACTLY what he set out to do. By the end of his second term, any new photos like this one will be extinct. He will die proud of that fact.

I missed this the first time around, so thanks to OP for posting the follow-up. I was born at Selfridge Air Force base at Mt. Clemens. Our generation, for the most part, grew up accepting the equality of black and white as if it were as natural as sending manned spacecraft into orbit - both were relatively new phenomenon, but for those of us who were children, it was simply part of our reality. We knew nothing else. Like Poster #5, I find it heartbreaking to see this new reality of community agitation-based hate.

That photo does not fit in with the ´recreated´ history in African American studies.

Personally, I don´t think Zippy cares about anything but himself. I think the agitator is the Wookie and her ´you owe me´ attitude from years of the Wright, Jesse, Al, and Sheila indoctrination.

And people whose skin is a diff´rent shade,
You´ve got to be carefully taught.

The Founding Fathers would be appalled by the way the current occupant of the White House has usurped power to get his agenda passed. There is nothing to restrain Mr. Obama, now a lame duck, from forcing his liberalism on America. For example, the White House declared Wednesday that it will not go through Congress to create regional “climate hubs” to deal with the supposed crisis of “climate change.” This comes

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, may be the brightest light to adorn the Republican Party in many years. He knows how to make the case for conservative ideas, pointing, for example, to the contrasting fates of Detroit and Houston to illustrate the superiority of conservative policies. So it´s particularly galling to see that rather than train his fire at President Barack Obama and the liberal machine that cocoons him, Cruz has become a one-man wrecking ball against Republicans. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel (R-Ky.) are now in position to end the Tea Party’s death grip on the Republican Party’s political future. Last week, Boehner and McConnell faced down the Tea Party’s threat to cripple the government when they supported raising the nation’s debt ceiling. That move prevented GOP political suicide. If the nation’s credit rating, stocks and the recovery went down the sewer because of Republicans’ refusal to raise the debt ceiling, the GOP’s chances in the midterm elections would have been severely damaged.
