Celebs chomp on ´Sharknado´
USA Today, by Ann Oldenburg

Original Article

The Syfy channel offered up one its best cheesiest movies ever Thursday night with Sharknado, starring 90210 alum Ian Ziering and American Pie fave Tara Reid. Of course it was immediately trending on Twitter, with jokes and comments flying as fast as the sharks in the TV movie. NBC political guru Chuck Todd wrote: "I follow about a thousand folks. Every one of them tweeting about SharkNado."

The best part was Ian Ziering diving into the shark who had swallowed Tara Reid from the helicopter, and cutting her free with a chain saw -- from inside the shark! Wonderful.
This has to be best bad movie ever!

I don´t know, the special, while not outstanding, were still too good for true cheesiness. Check out Ed Wood´s Plan 9 from Outer Space on You Tube. That is the pinnacle of cheesiness.

Wasn´t Tara who got eaten, it was the true hottie in the movie, it was Cassie Scerbo.

I loved the helicopter sitting there intact after the tornado blew all the other planes off the airport and then its ability to fly into a tornado, while they dropped teenie bombs to eliminate the threat.....

A true classic, but SyFy really ´jumped the shark´ on this one.....

As cheesy as this was (I DV-R´ed it and began watching it this morning before going to work) I found a YouTube review of this movie - and another one that is worse. This second one was pitched at Cannes and even SyFy stayed away from it.

The premise? FDR is bitten by a Nazi werewolf. The entire movie is on YouTube.

(be forewarned: rough language in the trailer)

Raising the debt ceiling doesn´t increase the nation´s debt, Pres. Obama declared in a speech today. In a speech at the Business Roundtable headquarters in Washington, D.C., Obama dismissed concerns about raising the debt ceiling by noting that it´d been done so many times in the past: "Now, this debt ceiling -- I just want to remind people in case you haven´t been keeping up -- raising the debt ceiling, which has been done over a hundred times, does not increase our debt; it does not somehow promote profligacy.

Global temperatures are warmer than at any time in at least 4,000 years, scientists reported Thursday, and over the coming decades are likely to surpass levels not seen on the planet since before the last ice age. Previous research had extended back roughly 1,500 years, and suggested that the rapid temperature spike of the past century, believed to be a consequence of human activity, exceeded any warming episode during those years.

CAIRO -- Islamists approved a draft constitution for Egypt early Friday without the participation of liberal and Christian members, seeking to pre-empt a court ruling that could dissolve their panel with a rushed, marathon vote that further inflames the conflict between the opposition and President Mohammed Morsi. The vote by the constituent assembly advanced a charter with an Islamist bent that rights experts say could give Muslim clerics oversight over legislation and bring restrictions on freedom of speech,

Gov. Terry Branstad today informed federal officials that Iowa will continue working to create a state-based health insurance exchange, but he said many questions are unanswered for state officials to make an informed decision (SNIP) “... I cannot provide you with a set of timelines or complete details about the exchange until our state receives clear, binding rules from your department. Forcing an exchange decision on states based on an arbitrary timetable, would be like forcing a consumer to buy a car without knowing the vehicle’s price tag or fuel economy."

A "vast majority" of Mitt Romney donors, establishment pooh-bahs, and an anti-conservative consultant who is the epitome of permanent political class want former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to run for president in 2016. Bush was in Las Vegas this week meeting with Sheldon Adelson, and, according to the Post, "many if not most of 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney’s major donors are reaching out to Bush and his confidants with phone calls, e-mails and invitations to meet." One bundler even said that a "vast majority” of "Romney’s top 100 donors would back Bush." The Post also noted that in the meantime "Bush’s

I have no objections to Jeb Bush running for president. He obviously has a wide appeal as a potential candidate. If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.

YOKOHAMA, Japan — Climate change is already having sweeping effects on every continent and throughout the world’s oceans, scientists reported Monday, and they warned that the problem is likely to grow substantially worse unless greenhouse emissions are brought under control. The report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a United Nations group that periodically summarizes climate science, concluded that ice caps are melting, sea ice in the Arctic is collapsing, water supplies are coming under stress, heat waves and heavy rains are intensifying, coral reefs are dying, and fish and many other creatures are migrating toward the poles or

A National Labor Relations Board official has given the green light to Northwestern University football players to form a union. The March 26 decision by the NLRB´s Chicago regional director, Peter Sung Ohr, held that scholarship football players are "employees" for purposes of federal labor law. Ohr rejected the longstanding view of Northwestern and the National Collegiate Athletic Association that players are "student-athletes" rather than employees. Drinking Earl Grey tea could help guard against heart disease, it has emerged, after a study found that bergamot extract--a key ingredient in the hot drink--is just as effective as statins at controlling cholesterol. Scientists believe bergamot, a fragrant Mediterranean citrus fruit which gives Earl Grey tea its distinctive flavour, can significantly lower cholesterol. They say it contains enzymes known as HMGF (hydroxy methyl glutaryl flavonones) which can attack proteins in the body known to cause heart disease. The study found bergamot could even be as effective as statins, used to control cholesterol but which can have side effects in
