AMMAN - Jordan´s King Abdullah said on Sunday the kingdom was ready to fight to protect itself against any threat to its security from the escalating civil war in neighboring Syria. He was speaking as Jordanian and US forces proceeded with joint military exercises with the participation of 17 other countries. Diplomats say the exercises, which entered their second week, aim to send a strong message to Syrian President Bashar Assad.(Snip) Chuck Hagel has approved a Jordanian request for American F-16s and Patriot missiles to remain in the Western-backed kingdom after the end of the military maneuvers.

Comments:
When Abdullah is overthrown/falls the missiles can be turned on Israel.

I´m sensing the quickening of ´birth pangs´ in the Middle East - it sure doesn´t feel like a false labor. Nevertheless, Israel, more than ever before in history, has become a stumbling stone for the entire world. Her neighbors on all sides are salivating for a final bloody conquest.

It´s beyond tragic that our own country is led by a cabal contemptuous of Israel.

Pray for Jerusalem.

Pretty sneaky way to arm the bad guys who want to destroy Israel. Call it an exercise then leave the weapons behind. Pretty clever of old Chuck Hagel the Jew hater.

Israel is the apple of God´s eye and under His divine protection forever. It is the other nations involved in the hate who should be afraid. Really, really afraid. I am talking fire from heaven afraid.

When you compare the ancient measurements of the land that God originally granted to Israel in the OT, and compare them to a modern map, several of the mid-east nations are not even in existence.

Frank Armstrong never got the chance to know 8-year-old Martin Richard in this life. Nevertheless, the BPD captain in charge of Area E-18 in Hyde Park keeps a picture of the marathon bombings’ youngest casualty on the wall in his office. The Dorchester boy who loved the Bruins, and the 53-year-old cop, who grew up five houses away from where the Richard family lives, share a bond that is as heartbreaking as it is heartwarming. For nearly 12 hours on that fateful Patriots Day a year ago, Frank Armstrong led a squad of Boston police officers who stood watch over

BOSTON - After taking heat from some of its own over a decision to grant an honorary degree to an advocate for Muslim women who has made comments critical of Islam, Brandeis University withdrew the honor Tuesday night. The university said in a statement that Somali-born Ayaan Hirsi Ali would no longer receive the honorary degree, which it had planned to award her at the May 18 commencement. Ali, a member of the Dutch Parliament from 2003 to 2006, has been quoted as making comments critical of Islam. That includes a 2007 interview with Reason Magazine in which she

About 10 investigators with Boston Fire´s Arson unit this morning entered the four-story brownstone on Beacon Street where six days ago a roaring blaze claimed the lives of two firefighters. The arson investigators entered the building around 10 a.m. On Wednesday, Lt. Edward Walsh and Michael Kennedy died after being trapped in the basement of the 298 Beacon St. building during the roaring 9-alarm blaze. Deputy Chief Joseph Finn, who commanded the firefighters last week and made the decision to pull firefighters from the wind-driven fire, was also on scene. A day after the flames thwarted his efforts to save Lt. Edward J. Walsh and firefighter Michael R. Kennedy in the basement of a blazing Beacon Street brownstone, Capt. Neal Mullane of Ladder 18 in South Boston, his own scalp gashed and burned, found himself drawn to the Back Bay firehouse that has become a kind of chapel for his grieving brethren. Mullane, 42, was one of the officers tapped at a moment’s notice to command as the Rapid Intervention Team at the nine-alarm fire. He described the desperate detail to the Herald’s Laurel J. Sweet.

Kabul, Afghanistan -- The Obama administration condemned Saturday the Taliban´s attack on a Kabul restaurant that killed 21 people, mostly foreigners, as revenge for an airstrike that caused civilian Afghan deaths. Among the dead are Americans, Canadians, Britons and Afghans. Two of the three Americans killed were identified Saturday. They are Lexie Kamerman and Alexandros Petersen, both employees at the American University of Afghanistan, the university said. A third American has not yet been named. JERUSALEM — The Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad said Thursday it had agreed to halt a wave of rocket fire on Israel, signaling an end to the heaviest fighting between the sides since 2012, though soon after the announcement two rockets fired from Gaza exploded inside Israel. The Islamic Jihad denied it launched the attack and it wasn´t immediately unclear who fired the rockets. Cease-fire declarations have not always been honored by militants and the barrage raised doubts about the cease-fire offer made by Islamic Jihad. The Israeli military said a total of four rockets were fired Thursday from Gaza.

WASHINGTON — As the Republican field for 2016 stands today, Hillary Clinton doesn’t have much to worry about. In fact, for all the talk about Benghazi and Obamacare, she has a lot to be happy about. The drum-beating of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference — the GOP’s pre-presidential coming-out party — gave us a glimpse of the Republican future. And for the GOP, the future is bleak. Sen. Rand Paul officially won CPAC’s presidential straw poll. His message of libertarianism plays well with the small government crowd. Military groups and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are vowing to fight proposed cuts to the Pentagon budget set to be unveiled next week that could increase the cost of living for American troops, veterans and their families. The military spending plan outlined by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel on Monday calls for smaller pay rises and controversial reductions in housing allowances, health benefits and other subsidies for service members and retirees. "We know the Defense Department must make difficult budget decisions, but these cuts would hit service members, making it harder for them and their families to make ends meet,”

Many Americans have been watching with great consternation the ongoing struggle between the Federal Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the U.S. Marshals against Cliven Bundy and his family. There are no signs of either side relinquishing their position. Many onlookers have been informed that this dispute is over protecting the desert tortoise. But it is nothing of the sort. In fact, the reality of the dispute goes far underneath what is being talked about. The more appropriate source of the dispute is ground water as well as surface water -- this is a war over water. The son of the Nevada rancher locked in an increasingly tense land dispute with the federal government, says their cowboys managed to break a blockade and retrieve around 30 head of cattle. Federal agents swooped on Tuesday after Cliven Bundy, dubbed the last remaining rancher in southern Nevada, refused to remove his herd of 900 cows from land he claims has been in his family since 1870. The heavily-armed federal agents, equipped with eight helicopters and backed-up by snipers, surrounded the Bundy ranch after the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) attained a federal court order to confiscate the family´s herd. Following the massacre of grammar-school children in Newtown, Conn., in December 2012, high-powered weapons have been used to kill innocent victims in more senseless public incidents. Those killings, however, are only a fragment of the total harm caused by the misuse of firearms. Each year, more than 30,000 people die in the United States in firearm-related incidents. Many of those deaths involve handguns. The adoption of rules that will lessen the number of those incidents should be a matter of primary concern to both federal and state legislators. Legislatures are in a far better position than judges to assess the

Nearly a year into the IRS scandal, we still don´t know exactly what happened—though we are finally getting an inkling. That´s thanks to the letter House Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp sent this week to the Justice Department recommending a criminal probe of Lois Lerner. The average citizen might be dizzied by the torrent of confusing terms—BOLO lists, Tigta, 501(c)(4)—and the array of accusations that have made up this IRS investigation. Mr. Camp´s letter takes a step back to remind us why this matters, even as it provides compelling new information that goes to motive and method—and clarifies some of

Solar power has won the global argument. Photovoltaic energy is already so cheap that it competes with oil, diesel and liquefied natural gas in much of Asia without subsidies. Roughly 29pc of electricity capacity added in America last year came from solar, rising to 100pc even in Massachusetts and Vermont.[Snip] The technology is improving so fast--helped by the US military--that it has achieved a virtous circle.
