Keith Olbermann finds a job:
as a baseball analyst for TBS

Access Atlanta, by Rodney Ho

Original Article

Posted By:DaddyO, 6/6/2013 6:35:14 AM

Keith Olbermann, the talented but difficult talk show host, has had a rather checkered resume. ESPN. Fox Sports. MSNBC. Current TV. His departures have generally been unpretty, including his last gig with Al Gore´s network (soon to become Al-Jazeera). But he has found new employment at Turner Broadcasting. And it´s not CNN. Rather, he´s joining TBS as a studio host for its baseball coverage during the post season with Hall of Famer pitcher Dennis Eckersley. In other words, he´s going back to his roots as a sports guy.

Comments:
He´s either cheap or TBS is run by idiots.

Olbermann´s history in sports goes way back. Especially baseball. His bio says that he became a fairly noted baseball card collector while he was still in prep school. He was also involved in sports reporting and commentating while in school.

I remember his being a pretty good sports reporter on local TV in the Los Angeles area for quite a few years. It always seemed strange that he left sports and went into his pathetic version of politics and made a raging fool of himself. And quite a few enemies.

Now naysayers, this could be himself trying to turn his life around. He was one of the sportscasters that I would actually watch back in the day. He only showed his rotten apple side when he got into politics.

I am willing to give a guy a chance to turn his life around. That is what Jesus was/is all about, right?

USA Today, by Ty Duffy    Original Article

Today is the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster in England. Ninety-six Liverpool fans died and more than 700 were injured in a human crush in the opening minutes of the 1989 FA Cup Semifinal at Hillsborough stadium in Sheffield. Inadequate turnstiles created a bottleneck and a crush of thousands of fans outside the ground on the Liverpool side. Police opened a gate, allowing the fans to enter. Standing room fans were kept in enclosed pens at some stadiums for security purposes. Police did not close the entrance to the already full central pens. Thousands streamed down the central tunnel,

A waitress who stopped to deposit her tips in an ATM in South Portland early Thursday morning wound up saving her bank more than $37,000 – minus the $100 she got back as a reward. The woman called police to report a suspicious man at TD Bank’s ATM on Maine Mall Road. What she didn’t know at the time was that the machine had malfunctioned and was spitting out cash as fast as the man could ask for it. Officers arrived around 5:30 a.m. and found him stuffing thousands of dollars from the machine into a plastic shopping bag, said

Cinderella never before received such a gift. Stephen F. Austin, a No. 12 seed and a popular pick to upset No. 5 Virginia Commonwealth, did just that Friday night, 77-75 in overtime. But how the Lumberjacks became the latest underdog to have its NCAA day is miraculous, instant-classic stuff. It didn´t really happen, did it? Except that it did. Republican David Jolly defeated Democrat Alex Sink and Libertarian Lucas Overby to capture the fiercely contested special election today for the U.S. District 13 Congressional race in Pinellas County. Jolly had 48.5 percent to win the seat and replace his former boss, C.W. Bill Young, who held it for 43 years until his death in October created the need for this special election. Sink, the former state Chief Financial Officer, got 47 percent of the vote, and Overby got 5 percent. A race that normally would play a minor role on the national stage, if any, became a media focal

Sunday’s announcement that Piers Morgan had lost his show at CNN was hardly unexpected. The ratings for the coveted 9 p.m. time slot were abysmal, dropping last week to just 270,000 viewers — about one-eighth of what Fox News’s Megyn Kelly got in the same time slot. Some, such as Variety magazine, have speculated that the low ratings are due to Morgan’s single-minded push for gun control. That might have something to do with it, but much more is going on. In all the thousands of television and radio interviews that I have done over the years, my appearances on Morgan’s

As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent.
