A White House Counsel

Washington Post, by Juliet Eilperin

It may say more about Washington than White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler that she’s known in the West Wing for her fabulous shoes. Ruemmler first attracted attention for her glam heels as a Justice Department prosecutor trying Enron executives Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling in 2006, when she sported what The Wall Street Journal described as “stunning 4-inch bright pink stiletto spikes.”(snip)Now, she wears Manolo Blahniks and Christian Louboutins into the Oval Office. One of Ruemmler’s pairs has a jeweled paisley pattern;

That is wonderful to know that the most important thing about the White House Counsel is her shoes. Not much else but she really wears nice shoes.

Nothing changes, no matter where. The best shoes are usually worn by the least attractive women.

I suspect she spends more on one pair of shoes than I do on my entire yearly shoe wardrobe. And she will have the podiatrist bills to show for them.

Good Grief. Who cares??? Just another example of a superficial, concerned-with-trivia administration that cares more about what´s on the outside than what truly counts on the inside: Honor, Integrity, and Honesty. I don´t care if she wears shoes from Pic-n-Pay if she´s what this country needs - which I seriously doubt based on her apparent need to wow us with glam, expensive shoes. Nice try, Ms. Superficial.

I was quite young at the time so my memory may be a bit off, but does anyone recall Woodward and Bernstein writing an article about John Dean´s footwear during the Watergate scandal? Poor Nixon -- if only Deep Throat had advised them to, "Follow the Florsheims" instead of "Follow the money."

More hard-hitting "journalism" from the WhiteWash Post....

The WhiteWash Post wants you to know that White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler wears very expensive shoes, and that she didn´t tell Barack Obama one thing about the IRS violating the civil rights of Conservatives, and that therefore Obama didn´t know anything.

Yep.

Hence, "WhiteWash Post."

I did look up Manolo Blahniks. Even I was surprised. Flip Flops go for $500. Most shoes are from $600-$1500. I don´t know if I wonder how much we pay these people, or how smart they could be to spend that much on shoes. I see the same styles at Payless. No one but me would know the difference, if I still wore those kind of squish-your-foot-too-high-heels.

I was totally shocked by what happens to the foot bones of someone who wears these on a daily basis. This WH lawyer is looking at some serious surgery in the future.

Republican megadonors wouldn’t flood elections with private money if federal law forced individuals to immediately disclose their gifts, not only in public records but in advertisements too, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said on Thursday. “The Chamber of Commerce told us that if their members had to disclose, they wouldn’t give to these secret PACs,” Pelosi said. Pelosi’s comments come as House Democrats plan to aggressively push for campaign finance reforms after the Supreme Court decision on Wednesday to eliminate caps on the total amount of money an individual can give to candidates, party committees and PACs.

But she’s also taken one of the surefire moves to help ensure her relevance – not to mention potential TV and book contracts – by criticizing the very media establishment in which she spent her career. It’s an increasingly well-traveled path: Over the course of the past two decades, a handful of journalists have left mainstream media jobs while decrying what they saw as an inherent bias in their own industry.

Sources on the ground in Benghazi during the 2012 terror attack are pushing back hard on former CIA acting director Mike Morell´s testimony on Capitol Hill, where he defended his role in shaping the administration´s narrative and claimed politics were not involved. As part of Morell´s testimony on Wednesday, the former acting and deputy CIA director acknowledged that he overruled the guidance of the top CIA officer in Libya at the time. That official told Morell the attack was not an "escalation of protests," but Morell said he had to weigh that against analysts who concluded the opposite. He ultimately went

Big changes could be just down the road for North Carolina drivers. A proposal is in the works that would change the state tax system to charge drivers by the mile, instead of at the gas pump. The proposal would be to charge a half cent per mile for cars, which would generate almost $500 million in annual state revenue. A driver who travelled 15,000 miles in a year would pay about $75. "Basically you pay per the mile. It´s treating transportation as a utility, much like your water and sewer," said Larry Goode, with the Institute of Transportation Research and

Do you think members of Congress are overpaid or underpaid? Most likely you’d go with the former, but Democratic congressman Jim Moran argues it’s actually the latter. In an interview with CQ Roll Call, Moran says, “I think the American people should know that the members of Congress are underpaid.” The House recently took up a bill to freeze members’ paychecks, placing another halt on the annual cost-of-living pay increases they would normally get and keeping annual salary at $174,000. Moran believes that this is the wrong way to go, not necessarily talking about himself in particular, but saying there

The human kindling that makes up the flammable Republican base may soon burst into flames, again. Portions of that excitable cohort are looking — some with fawn-like eyes filled with hurt, others with sparks shooting from eyes narrowed like gun slits — askance at other Republicans urging Jeb Bush to seek the 2016 presidential nomination. A candidacy by Florida’s former governor would be desirable. But if Republicans want to avoid intra-party carnage, they should be very careful about doing what The Post recently reported: “Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft

Sarah Palin continues to act in ways that confirm some of the more negative things said about her. For example, she’s taken to Facebook to attack the most recent budget plan by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan.(Snip)Whatever differences Ms. Palin may have with the Ryan plan–and perhaps she’ll take the time to offer an actual critique of if rather than a Facebook entry with lots of upper case words–it’s hardly a joke. But what might elicit a roll of the eyes is comparing Ms. Palin’s views now versus what they were nearly four years ago. Consider this: On December

At a press conference to push legislation to raise the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) criticized industrialists David and Charles Koch, calling them “shadow billionaires” who use their wealth to “rig our political system.” Reid’s sharp comments come on a day when the Wall Street Journal published a commentary written by Charles Koch, in which he described the brothers’ decision to get involved in politics to preserve the individual freedom and free markets that he said are the pillars of the American republic. “These two men are a pair of shadow billionaires spending

Senate majority leader Harry Reid has a whole page on his official Senate.gov website devoted to revealing "THE FACTS ABOUT THE KOCH BROTHERS." One of the alleged facts promoted on Reid´s website is that the Kochs do not pay any corporate taxes: “They are known for bankrolling conservative, Libertarian and Tea Party causes and became poster boys for corporate tax reform last year when an Obama Administration official suggested Koch is organized as an S Corp. and so pays no corporate level taxes.” The claim that the Koch brothers don´t pay corporate income taxes was first made by former White House official

Washington - The company leading the legal challenge against birth control coverage under the new health care law offers its workers a retirement plan that includes investments in companies making contraceptive and abortion drugs.
