TIME has just published pictures from Barack Obama´s prom night in 1979. For me, these photos are more evidence of something I have thought for a long time -- young Obama seemed like a white guy(snip)One of the most puzzling things to me about contemporary politics is the way so many people seem to think that Barack Obama is a black man. As one of the folks who got to know him while he was at Occidental College, I can report that I thought of Obama as an average white guy in terms of his IQ and his cultural inheritance.
I despise Obama as much as anyone, but I don´t think we can fault him for hanging out with white kids in high school. In reviewing photos of his school classmates, it appears he has the only black face. IMO, his close association with Frank M Davis made him identify with his black half rather than his white. He married black and has certainly rewarded blacks in his administration and during his tenure as POTUS. As a WASP, I feel completely estranged from him and do not feel he has my or my progeny´s interests at heart at all.
The line from the article I found most interesting was: "The young Obama that I knew was mainly interested in hanging out with white guys and white girls (like me and my radical girlfriend) or with his radical Muslim friends." Those radical Muslim friends aspect is what is most dangerous to the US.
I´m operating solely on memory here, which is always risky, but - not long after barack announced his candidacy in 2007, Al Sharpton asked if Barack was ´black enough.´ And Jesse Jackson threatened to ´cut his (barack´s) balls off, for some perceived slight. The most unfortunate long term impact of barack´s presidency, however, is that there could be outstanding black candidates in future elections, who will not get elected because people will remember the real barack, and paint those other candidates with the barack brush.
One of my favorite comedy sketches on Saturday Night Live was Eddie Murphy´s "White Like Me". It´s on the internet if you want to Google it.
Eddie Murphy puts on make up and then goes through New York pretending to be a typical white office worker. When there are no black people around the white people treat him much better than white people treat each other in reality. The bus turns into a rolling party with free drinks the moment the last black person gets off. The newspaper stand gives away newspapers.
That´s the part that struck me. The goal of affirmative action isn´t to treat people the same. The goal is to treat black people according to some fictional idea of how white people treat each other.
Not only is he not black, his education was not American basic. He has no knowledge of the American history and tradition or world geography to cite a few gaps. I´m sure that part of this was the Hawaiian culture and the rest his lack of good parenting. After all, his grandparents hardly raised a mainstream American daughter.
Tell you the truth, I did not know Obama even liked girls more than boys. That being said, Obama always went for the white girls. Just like the fictional composite characters in his first book. Moochelle was considered not marriage material till Bill Ayers and Valerie Jarrett intervened and said a potential presidential candidate must have a black wife.
When I was in school in the sixties one of my good friends was a star athlete and scholar. Short, quick, and captain of three teams. As regular and decent and fun loving as they come. Something happened. He went to Cuba, tripped out, changed his style, carried a pint in his walking around raincoat, went to Princeton, Harvard, Columbia and Rutgers, got a Ph.D., and is now a left of Howard Zinn, atheist, on demand author and speaker. I met him for a drink last year. He should have been part of a bright future. Gone. IMO it is the ivy league university.
Informed consent is a big deal in health care. And it should be. (snip) Once a woman says she wants an abortion, medical standards and norms change. If the process of getting informed consent involves making the unknown, known, the process in the abortion industry is all about unknowing. When I regrettably and wrongly had an abortion many years ago, no one at Planned Parenthood explained anything to me -- and I mean nothing -- about my baby´s development. No one even showed me a picture of a 3-month old baby in the womb.
San Diego mayor and veteran Congressman Bob Filner is a serial molester of women who enjoyed immunity from exposure by his friends in the media who "pretty much knew" about his abuses but chose to ignore them as a non-story. We know this because a brave member of the San Diego media crowd has admitted it.(snip) Scorn is the appropriate response. The San Diego media deserves a big helping of humiliation over covering this up. There is no profession more conscious of prestige than the media. Just look at all the awards they give each other.
As a black conservative tea party activist, I am extremely excited about Bill O´Reilly´s recent series of commentaries and TV shows addressing the hypocrisy and exploitation by the American race industry that has and continues to devastate the black community. O´Reilly boldly called out all of the usual suspects: Sharpton, Jackson, the Congressional Black Caucus and Obama. Eric Holder and others on the left have been whining and arrogantly scolding us saying that we need an honest discussion about race in America.
How is the U.S. like Sweden? In its low murder rate. That is, if you include in the statistics only non-blacks in the U.S. legally.(snip)In round numbers, there are about 250 million non-blacks in the U.S. legally. So their murder rate is about 1.0 per 100,000, or the same as Sweden´s. A murder rate of 1.0 is in the same league as the Europeans who like to call us gun-crazy cowboys. But it´s not the "cowboys" who are doing the killing. (In fact, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming have murder rates significantly lower than the U.S. average.
Poor lil´ Huma, croaks the liberal media. A wifey ensnared in her infamous husband´s sordid sexual adventures. Huma Abedin is a victim -- victimhood being a checkbox for libs and a handy excuse for anyone who runs afoul the law, stupid choices, indecency, laziness, Faustian deals with the devil, trumped-up racism, trumped-up homophobia, trumped-up xenophobia, real political corruption, hand-washing compulsion, and whatever else can be appended to victimhood. Poor lil´ Huma is a victim, all right. She´s a victim of her own self-willed choice; of a match made not much from kismet than cold calculation.
Remember when scientists and other truth-seekers used to get all riled up about the way the Catholic Church treated Galileo? The outcry was not over the fact that Galileo was a "peer-reviewed" researcher, and therefore beyond question. Quite the contrary: the argument was that, from the point of view of the quest for truth, no one, including the representatives of official orthodoxy and authority, ought to be regarded as beyond question. In the Michael Mann lawsuit against Mark Steyn and National Review, it is the "award-winning researcher" who is joining the fight for Church orthodoxy
Money can´t buy the kind of political boost Huma Abedin is receiving. Like her mentor Hillary Clinton, the stand-by-your-man strategy will be her gateway to widespread popularity and respect. Don´t feel sorry for the Democrats over losing a former rising star politician like Anthony Weiner, whose future is so hopeless that even the New York Times says it´s time to go. They have gained an even more promising candidate for high office. Huma Abedin is better-looking, better spoken, and more appealing than her role model.(snip)Although raised in Saudi Arabia, Ms. Abedin was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, a natural born American.
Much has been made of Obama´s impromptu crashing of the press briefing at the White House the other day to weigh in yet again on Trayvon Martin´s death. The reception of Obama´s discussion reminded me of the movie The King´s Speech, where the man who would be king of England had to give just one good speech, so all of England would feel comfort. As in the movie, I chuckled at the big deal made by "reporters" that the man who is supposed to be a great orator and "Leader of the formerly Free World" did so without his "blankie,"
Now we have proof that the current Obama-Holder campaign against stand-your-ground laws is nothing more than a pose intended to distract from their political problems, having whipped up a racialist fury and pushed prosecution of George Zimmerman. Although State Senator Barack Obama could boast of few legislative accomplishments, one thing he did do was co-sponsor a bill strengthening the Illionois stand-your-ground law. The Illinois Review writes: The Obama-sponsored bill (SB 2386) enlarged the state´s 1961 law by shielding the person who was attacked from being sued in civil court by perpetrators or their estates
Did the IRS intervene in Federal election campaigns for Congress? According to the Washington Times, U.S. Treasury investigative special agent Dennis Martel has uncovered a new example of political abuse. On March 9, 2010, Christine O´Donnell´s personal income tax records were illegally accessed by a Delaware public official. Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA) reports that a previously-undisclosed "back door" to the IRS computer system was used to invade the privacy of Christine O´Donnell´s tax records. Who knew? It turns out that state government criminal investigators can directly -- though illegally -- access IRS records through a "back door."
We live in a time of extraordinary media corruption when testimony late last week tying a presidential political appointee to the IRS´ suppression of the president´s political opposition was widely ignored, except for Fox News and the conservative talk radio and internet ghetto. But at least one brave journalist in the MSM is speaking up about the disgraceful suppression of an important story of political corruption of the highest order. Mike Hashimoto, an editorial writer of the Dallas News, is bothered by this media corruption. He posted a blog Friday, calling out his employer and AP
We can now officially say that the IRS harassment of conservative groups is a political scandal connected to the Obama political machine. Despite the best obfuscatory efforts of Obama henchmen like Rep. Elijah Cummings, yesterday the IRS scandal was tied to a political appointee of President Obama. Step-by-step the chain is being followed upward (snip)Now we begin to prepare the vice to squeeze the Obama political appointee, perhaps making an immunity grant to Lois Lerner a possibility. Keep in mind, it is not an offer, it is an involuntary grant she cannot refuse.
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. Temperatures in the Arctic region of Alaska are warming twice as fast as the rest of the U.S, causing ice to retreat, sea levels to rise and coastal erosion to increase. Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
I never thought the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman case deserved nearly the attention it got. But reasonable people can disagree about that. What strikes me as unconscionable, however, is the way the supposedly objective media have not only sensationalized a tragedy but at times appear to deliberately bend the facts to fit a desired story line. Maybe it started with the use of pictures of a younger Martin or with the sudden embrace of the term "white Hispanic" to describe Zimmerman in order to more easily paint him as a racist. NBC News was the most egregious offender
No matter how much you may hope for it, it seems unlikely that you´ll be using the phrase "Senator Sarah Palin" with any great regularity in 2015. A new poll indicates that the former Alaska governor is about as popular in the state as Barack Obama — which is to say, not very popular at all. But even more surprising, while the former vice presidential candidate has made Alaska a central part of her public image, the state´s residents split on the question of whether Palin is all that Alaskan. Conducted by Public Policy Polling,
