Dem: Republicans throwing
infrastructure ´under the bus’

The Hill, by Keith Laing

A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week. The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) cited the incident in an interview as proof Republicans were blocking infrastructure investment to hurt President Obama politically. “Well, they have clearly spent the whole last five years trying to tear the president down, but they have done it by throwing the American infrastructure and

These tactics show how pathetic the Dems are - trying to revive their failed leader. But the American public is not as stupid as they think - stupid, yes- but not that stupid.

Wasn´t Crazy Uncle Joe Biden assigned to make sure that all the big money got spent on infrastructure ??

I´d hate to find out that some of it got wasted....or stolen....or moved off-shore...or given to political supporters.

These folks wouldn´t LIE to us.....would they ???

"Infrastructure" requires mining and high heat which are being suppressed in this country due to wanting to reduce air pollution and control global warming.

Believe me, we pay plenty in taxes in Washington State. We have plenty of money for hybrid buses running around empty, and apparently we can afford billions of dollars for mass transit schemes.

My mother lives in Mt. Vernon, so this hits close to home. If anyone thinks the government does things better, they need to look at the road system in Washington.

Let us go to chicago- another bastion of Democrat functionality. How´s all that "Deomcrat" stuff working for ya there? How ´bout New Orleans, East St. louis, Louiville---all centeres of Democrat operation. And- let us not forget the Democrats have been in charge of our national infrastructure now for ten years!~

The Rebublicans may well be throwing our infrastructure under the bus but us taxpayers have paid a dear price to fix your beloved bridge. It was call the Porkulus Bill (Stimulus Bill). It was suppose to fix every road, bridge and overpass in the nation. Rebublicans didn´t stop it but we taxpayers borrowed money from a bunch of Chinamen and now we are paying them back with interest to fund our infrastructure. So stop blaming Rebublicans cause you got your money and we are the saps you took it from.

Rush said this yesterday:
"Let´s go back. November 22nd, 2008. This is after the election. This is his weekly YouTube address. He wasn´t president yet, but he was president-elect. And he´s talking about his stimulus plan. This is leading up to the stimulus, which he would put in place a few months later.

OBAMA: There will be a two-year nationwide effort to jump-start job creation in America and lay the foundation for a strong and growing economy. We´ll put people back to work rebuilding our crumbling roads and bridges.
THAT is what the stimulus $$$ was supposed to do, but Obama gave that $$ to the unions..

This little genius Jim McDermott is about as smart as yesterday´s rice pudding. He continues to get reelected by amazingly high percentages of votes - presumably they share his level of intellectual paucity and they also happen to be Seattlites. I´m glad that the rest of the country understands how big a mess Seattle and King County democrats have made out of WA state politics - the stimulus was wasted on green projects - in my town the EPA pays $25,000 rent per month for it´s office, and a bridge was damaged. That bridge is a vital link in interstate and international commerce. But that´s capitalism at work and it isn´t green, so who cares about roads and bridges when the environment gets first call on our treasure. Oh yes indeed, now they are paying lip service by castigating the opposition.

In the metropolitan NYC area, there is something called the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. They run the subways, buses, commuter rail lines, and many bridges and tunnels.

A car crossing a bridge pays a toll ranging from around $4 on the cheapest bridge (up to $7.50 for the most expensive) for a car, to a stunning $116 for a big rig on the most expensive bridge.

More of this money goes for the mass transit system than all the riders pay. Some of the bridges/tunnels are in bad shape. Where is all this money going?--a lot of it goes to subsidize mass transit, which is no bargain either.

Most of the politicians there are democrats.

Let´s see. Demonrats tossed hard working taxpayers under the bus when they claimed the stimulus would be spent on infrastructure. Instead, the taxpayer got $1000 road signs and the rest of it went to crony demonrats as a means to get rich under the guise of green energy, then they all went belly up.

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter — who used her talk show platform in the last presidential election cycle to campaign hard for former Massachusetts Gov. She made the suggestion during a discussion on Sean Hannity’s radio show while speaking of her new book, “Never Trust a Liberal Over 3-Especially a Republican.” Ms. Coulter also addressed the question of Mr. Romney’s shortcomings by saying that his 2012 loss wasn’t entirely his fault. “I think too much blame, not only in this

He’s been hammered for going around Congress with executive orders. But he’s within his authority—and he should go further on voting and transparency to make government work better. With Congress paralyzed, President Obama has promised to use his “pen and phone” to overcome the ongoing dysfunction and get some work done. And the White House has already acted several times to help improve America’s economy. But such policies, no matter how valuable, will achieve little if we do not fix our broken democracy. Allow me to suggest some ideas for how the president can do just that. First, some historical context. Presidents

Here is a selection of highlights from Friday’s release of documents from the Clinton presidency. The cache is part of a total of about 33,000 pages of presidential records that had been held back from various public records releases because of legal reasons exempting them from disclosure. The GOP has been hijacked. That’s right, hijacked. Over the past 100 years, an elite progressive minority has taken the Republican Party far afield from its conservative platform and the interests and values of its grassroots conservative base. I’ll admit that, in the aftermath of the disappointments of the 2012 elections, conservatives like me are angry. We are angry at being blamed for Mitt Romney’s defeat, when we argued from the beginning that he was a Big Government establishment politician and that if he ran a content-free campaign, he would lose. President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren wrote in her forthcoming book that she was “hurt” and “angry” by 2012 reporting on her fraudulent claim to Native American heritage. “What really threw me, though, were the constant attacks from the other side,” Warren wrote in her book “A Fighting Chance.” “I would almost persuade myself that I was starting to get the hang of full-throttle campaigning and then — bam! Out of left field, the state Republican Party, or the Brown campaign, or some blogger, would launch a rocket at me,” Warren wrote, adding, ”I was stunned by the attacks.” This reporter (blogger?) reported extensively

WASHINGTON — Former President Jimmy Carter joined fellow Nobel laureates Wednesday in opposing Keystone XL, insisting that approving the pipeline would trigger “more climate upheaval” around the globe. In an open letter to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, Carter and the nine other Nobel Peace Prize winners bluntly warned the leaders: “Your decision on the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline will define your climate legacy.” The missive, published as an advertisement in Politico, represents the first time Carter has taken a position on the $5.4 billion project and makes him the first former president to come

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.

Less than 16 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced she was pregnant, a lot of major news outlets started staring into the crystal ball of Chelsea’s womb, wondering what this currently floating zygotic multicellular being meant for the prospects of Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, which is also a floating, zygotic, multicellular being. Their answer: The immaculately conceived Clinton child could mean everything. And no, it’s not just the fact that having a grandchild could be personally fulfilling to Hillary and Bill (mazel tov, by the way), or that a cute baby would be a sweet cherry on top of Hillary’s already
