Study: Dan Foster Types
More Likely to Be Conservatives

National Review Online, by Daniel Foster

Original Article

From the Daily Mail: ”Men who are physically strong are more likely to take a right wing political stance, while weaker men are inclined to support the welfare state, according to a new study.” Researchers in Demark and California “collected data on bicep size, socio-economic status, and support for redistribution from hundreds of people in the United States, Argentina, and Denmark” and found that people with higher upper body strength are likelier to take a small-government approach, even controlling for wealth. The hypothesis is that physically stronger men were more assertive about their

I suppose I´m a Dan Foster type. The only problem is that I am out-of-shape. So, perhaps a conservative worldview can entice me to enhance my physical strength.

The correlation might be provable; but the causal assertion is speculative, at best.

I believe the physical-strength-makes-conservative notion is complete hokum, in reality... Makes more sense if conservative beliefs go hand-in-hand with confidence: (a) that a person can make it for the most part without intrusion or help of government, and (b) that churches and private charities are capable and willing enough to be trusted to provide assistance to the weak and poor.

Wait,wait,wait....

I have spent the last 65 years assuming that everyone knew this.

The ´herd´ animals prefer the safety of the herd over everything else.

The ´risk tolerant´ animals prefer the liberty implied with limited government.

As an immigrant, I assumed that I was migrating to the country which celebrated the fabulous creative energy which only becomes manifest within a large group of risk takers.

So....what´s wrong with that ???

It´s worth noting that America has provided the most liberty and prosperity and scientific/medical advancement to the planet
in history.

Does this count for nothing ???

I´d add armed forces members too--with greater representation in the more demanding MOS or rates and among Marines. Also church attendance is a marker. Other differences are, for reasons of taste and decency, not described in public.

Nietzsche had this figured out over a century ago. His rant was against Christianity, which he termed slave morality, the conspiracy of the (many) weak against the (few) strong. The Will To Power disguised and manifested itself in the form of a specious morality that privileged the weak over the strong. Modern liberalism/Leftism is a degenerate stage of Christianity, Christianity sans Christ and sans the Divine - unless the state is taken for the Divine, as people like Obama want us to believe.

Liberalism and Leftism are decadent and perverted expressions of religion without God - unless, as many liberals and Leftists seem to think, Man can become his own god. There is a strangely Puritanical aspect to liberalism and Leftism that becomes apparent if one stands back a bit from the content and looks only at the process. We are dealing with religious fanatics. Dogmatism, intolerance, repression, totalitarianism, persecution and murder of infidels, jihad, collectivism, anti-individualism, ignorance and anti-intellectualism are characteristic of these depraved movements. The specific content of their fanaticism is almost irrelevant, for in practice it all comes down to the same thing when they acquire the power to control others.

As a test, just take us back a thousand years in history. The conservative types ran the world, the liberal types were slaves. Somewhere along the line we felt sorry for them and gave them what they have today, and they hate us for it.

Nearly six months after the disastrous launch of Healthcare.gov, with the website running smoothly and more than five million people signed up as open enrollment heads to a close, a new glitch has come to light: Incorrect poverty-level guidelines are automatically telling what could be tens of thousands of eligible people they do not qualify for subsidized insurance. The error in the federal marketplace primarily affects households with incomes just above the poverty line in states like Pennsylvania that have not expanded Medicaid. The mistake raises the price of their insurance by thousands of dollars, making insurance so unaffordable many

Climate change’s latest casualty appears to be fish — or more specifically, fish brains — as researchers say the carbon dioxide that’s being absorbed into the ocean is causing the scaly creatures to lose their survival instincts. In other words, the fish are losing their minds, The Daily Mail reported. The acid from atmospheric carbon dioxide seeps into sea waters, dissolves and ultimately lowers the pH balance, researchers said. The acidic waters then hamper the fishes’ sensory systems, so they’re not able to distinguish between smells any longer, the scientists went on. When the acid levels get really high, the fish lose their
