Black students are suspended more than three times as often as their white classmates, twice as often as their Latino classmates and more than 10 times as often as their Asian classmates in middle and high schools nationwide, a new study shows. The average American secondary student has an 11% chance of being suspended in a single school year, according to the study from the University of California Los Angeles Civil Rights project. However, if that student is black, the odds of suspension jump to 24%.
Comments: Great, first there´s hardly any black lawyers and now this. What could it all mean?
Chicago public schools have recently reshaped their discipline strategy to keep students in the classroom, said Jen Loudon, director of youth development and positive behavior support. Suspensions dropped by 21% in the first year after the district abandoned a mandatory suspension policy.
Yeah, from what I read, Chicago is doing a great job with it´s "youth." /s
Maybe they are suspended more often because they cause the behavior that requires suspension. It could be that simple. Has anyone seen the Chicago shooting stats from the past several years? Like it or not most are blacks shooting other blacks. They shot each other over shoes and jackets. I work in a middle school and some of these kids are future inmates courtesy of the state tax payers. Look at them wrong, bump them in the hall, "dis" them and my all time favorite "he´s messing with me" will cause a fight.
So many have not really learned to read; yet they get passed on to the next grade. Teachers don´t want to keep a kid back for various reasons, but I can testify that at the middle school level, the bad actors are so far behind that it´s nearly impossible for them to do anything else but make trouble. The more trouble they make, the more probable they will be passed on to the next grade.
Somethings wrong, my comments seem to post before I get done commenting.... As I was saying ....Lets not candy coat it is some imaginary discrimination case that these black lawyers are scamming to make a load of settlement cash. How about we re-word the statement to say: "Black students commit suspend-able offenses and exhibit suspend-able behavior more than three times as often as their white classmates, twice as often as their Latino classmates and more than 10 times as often as their Asian classmates in middle and high schools nationwide.". Tell it like it is.
Here are a couple of observations. Most white people go to churches where we are quiet unless we are singing hymns or making prayer responses as part of the liturgy. Most blacks go to churches where people shout out, make noise at random, and the like, and chillun learn from that. That carries over into school behavior. Second, the Supplemental Security Insurance (SSI) program, covers disabilities. Federal judges have ruled that a child who acts up in school has a learning disability, and is thus eligible for SSI payments from the federal government. And the 700 dollar per month check goes to baby momma. And the best proof of continuing disability is if the child is disciplined in school! Finally, Obama issued an executive order on July 26, 2012, requiring quotas for school discipline by race and ethnic group. Think about that.

Now let´s look at the percentage of blacks that have no father at home, drop out of high school and commit black on black crime and see if there is a correlation.
You know white conservatives are always called racists but the real racists are those liberals that refuse to look at what is going on and play victimizing card. The only way things are going to get better is if the black community starts taking responsibility for its own.
If one want to write the results of a "study" it should include the kind of trouble whites get into compared to blacks, latinos compared to blacks and of course Asians compared to blacks. Unless of course you want me to believe that an Asian, White, Latino and a Black all get caught carrying a bag of pot and a gun (and all with no previous offenses) get different penalties, with the Black kid getting the harshest, is that right?
We as a country are reaping what was sown over the past 2 generations. An entire race of people has been made dependent and nearly illiterate by liberal policies. The numbers tell the truth and liberals never like numbers. A small segment of the 12% of the population is responsible for more than half of the crime in the country. Liberals played their fiddles while the inner cities lost jobs, population, and thus real diversity. Blacks in this country have truly been kept on the plantation by liberals both white and black. .
If the parent doesn´t care the kid won´t care. Attitude toward authority plays a big role. Black Liberations Theology taught nothing whitey does is worth emulating. Whitey behaves, make sure you don´t.
Two of my cousins gave up the thought of teaching...in each case they lasted only two years. They taught in the Cherry Hill district of Baltimore. They could not put up with the abuse of many of the elementary school age black kids and the neglect and abuse of their parents. This was in the 70s and things have only gotten worse. I remember some years past an article in the Baltimore Sun where a young black female student said she no longer wanted to go to her mostly black school becasue so many of the students behaved like animals. Liberal policies and poor stewardship by leaders are responsible.
If school attendance wasn´t mandatory, there would a lot lower suspension rate. A good chunk of the kids do not want to be there, and they make it harder for the kids who DO want to be there. A few years out on the street might motivate them to come back to school.
Here are the markings of success, regardless of race /color/ ethnitcity:
2 parent family Involvement in a sport/team event Church Volunteer hours
Casual study over the years of top achievers in schools- rich or poor , urban or suburb
Now, if Democrats and Union Thugs were really interested in improving schools- we would have a voucher system empowering parents and choice. However, this does not fit the government knows better scenerio.
Drive down the road at 2 miles over the speed limit, count the number of people that pass you. Determine what percentage of them that are black - compare that number to their overall national percentage -
When people taught that laws do not apply to them, that they are entitled because of their skin color, naturally they are going to be a miscreants and worse. In a fair world, miscreants are punished.
Laying the groundwork for the DOJ to step in and tell middle and high school that they will no longer be able to suspend students of color. Must be another reason old Eric the Red wants to hire 44 new civil rights attorneys. Tie everyone up in knots and allow bad behavior to not only continue, but to be sanctioned. What a mess...
Look, a black student starting a fight!....You Racist!
Look, a black student joining a violent gang!....You racist!
Look, a black male committing numerous violent crimes!....You racist!
Look, black men committing a home invasion!..You racist!
Look, black thugs killing black babies in the ghetto!...You racist!
Arent you tired of this? The ass-press always inferring that WE (white people) are the problem simply because the "facts" point out that blacks cause so much violence, especially against their own kind, and cause so much disruption in schools and cant stay away from gangs or drugs....enough social studies determined to find out WHY they are violent and criminal..it´s in their NATURE! No matter if they are purple, green, or orange! It´s in their NATURE! Say it!
It´s not RACIST if it´s true! Liberals shun the truth....just look at Benghazi...or the IRS...or anything said by this administration...these lefty asses HATE the truth! And the truth is, BLACKS act out more emotionally and violently and cost our society so much money, and thus are suspended, or jailed, for their outbursts and crimes...simple facts, not racism, you LIARS!!!
FTA: "Sweet-Love believes that white teachers are more likely to deem a black student "threatening" instead of simply disobedient, and therefore more likely to "make an example" by suspending a black students."
Since when do teachers suspend students? Last I heard, that was a function of school administrators.
Most school districts provide handbooks to parents and students on the first day of the school year. The rules are spelled out. If you don´t want to be suspended, don´t fight, don´t skip school, don´t abuse staff, and don´t disrupt the learning environment for other students.
Just once, I would like to see the people doing these studies get out there in the schools and try to teach. I wonder how many black students versus white students would be suspended. Hello, maybe it´s because they cause more trouble???
Well don´t despair planned parent hood and doctors like the good ole boy are doing their best to eliminate the little black students for you. Perhaps the escapees from that fate feel like a hunted species and prey upon each other for what ever space they can secure. Sometimes it´s an education to sit in the back pew of that nice quit white church and notice how many worshipers are actually snoozing or fast asleep.Maybe a few joyful loud songs and praise be to the LORD could wake them up.
I have been volunteering one day a week on a project at my local catholic high school for almost a year. There is a pretty high percentage of "minority" students. I have not seen one instance of bad behavior in the halls or classrooms by any student of any race. I have been impressed. The kids wear uniforms, hear or say prayers all through the day, and are part of a culture of respect. I assume too that there is at least one involved parent in each home, but the behavior I´ve seen is exemplary.
My daughter´s school district is 40% "diversified." The school board hired a "diversified" superintendent. The superintendent initiated a policy to discourage Caucasian teachers from disciplining "diversified" students. Guess what? Suspensions are down, school violence is up. Problem solved, I guess.
The black community lost its way when it placed its trust in false prophets like Jesse Jackson and All Sharpton who told them what they wanted to hear rather than what they needed to hear - that their troubles did not come from oppression by the Man but from the moral rot within their communities once the Sexual Revolution and the War on Poverty wreaked havoc on the family units of black communities in the 1960´s and ´70´s.
When I was in school it was true, the black kids were always doing ´dumb´ things that got them either sitting in the principal´s office or suspended. And it looks like they are still doing ´dumb´ things.
I just love this stuff. It is so stupid and disingenuous. These ´studies´ have been going on for at least 40 years. It is probably also true that the numbers would be greater if you consider political correctness and many of the ones causing the trouble have been saved by it. The studies come out at frequent intervals when new jails need to be built. We go through a period where we are all racists because we imprison blacks at a higher rate. The studies take a few years off and then start again with their agenda which is to put us all in danger for not being politically correct. The cycle looks like it has resumed for a while.
COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- D-Day arrived for Obamacare Saturday and it began with an 11-hour shutdown of the website. The system is functioning a bit better than before but is still terribly inadequate. Applications are in limbo -- many already initiated are stalled, lost or otherwise can´t be completed. Applicants eligible for subsidies must use the website, or HealthCare.org paper alternatives that can´t handle the volume and the system often can´t verify applicants´ eligibility for aid. Overall, the website still fails to complete the enrollment process for many who try. Website software to get insurance companies paid subsidies isn´t functioning and
President Obama is trying to work off some of the calories from the nine Thanksgiving Day pies on the White House menu with a game of basketball. The commander-in-chief is stepping out of the White House to play hoops at the FBI headquarters, according to a White House pool report. It´s unclear who the president is playing with. Obama, a big basketball fan, picked up a game last Sunday at the FBI headquarters after announcing the interim agreement with Iran over its nuclear program.
Conservative writer and filmmaker Dinesh D´Souza isn´t sending any Thanksgiving good wishes to President Obama this year. The author of The Roots of Obama´s Rage started a Twitter firestorm Tuesday with this missive: "I am thankful this week when I remember that America is big enough and great enough to survive Grown-Up Trayvon in the White House!" Trayvon Martin is the Florida teenager killed by George Zimmerman in 2012; Zimmerman, pleading self-defense, was acquitted by a jury earlier this year. Tweeted reactions to D´Souza´s included the terms "disgusting" and "vile."
Is the Obama White House airbrushing history? It was a hallmark of the Stalin era: Fallen Soviet leaders vanished from official photographs. Nobody accuses President Obama of such subterfuge (well, nobody except for those who believe he forged his birth certificate), but a change in longtime practice in the White House has raised questions about the integrity of images Americans see of their president. The White House has increasingly excluded news photographers from Obama’s official events and is instead releasing images taken by in-house photographers, who are government employees. These photos often appear online and in newspapers, even though they lack
A new study of methane emissions finds that the U.S. is spewing 50 percent more methane, a greenhouse gas 21 times better at trapping heat than carbon dioxide, into the atmosphere than the Environmental Protection Agency previously assumed. Several factors contribute to the accumulation of methane gas in Earth’s atmosphere, such as the burning of fossil fuels and leaks from oil and gas refining and drilling, but one contender stands out above the rest as particularly repugnant: cow farts.(snip)According to the new research, livestock’s noxious flatulence accounts for a large portion of the methane gas being released into the atmosphere.
Toronto Mayor Rob Ford wonders if Barack Obama is "crazy" for the leftist policies the U.S. President is pushing. The crack-smoking Canadian has been battling a drug scandal, claims of sexual harassment and a string of embarrassing freak-outs before the press, but the Toronto politician laughed out loud about the mess Obama finds himself in. Come on, some of the stuff you guys are doing down there, to me, are you crazy?" Ford told FOX News reporter Jesse Watters for his segment on "The O´Reilly Factor" when asked about the Obama administration´s policy platform. "No, no, no, no, no," he
Electric cars lead our list of the cars and trucks that lose their value faster than average. Also ranking poorly are some big-ticket luxury cars, and, not surprisingly, older, lame-duck vehicles that are late in their product life cycle and about to be replaced. On a list of predicted residual values for 2013 models produced by ALG Inc., the bottom three examples are the battery powered Nissan Leaf; the Lincoln MKS, a more upscale, expensive cousin to the Ford Taurus; and the Mercedes-Benz CL Class, a two-door version of the flagship S Class sedan, which is about to be replaced. The Supreme Court set up another showdown over President Obama’s health care law on Tuesday by taking on a pair of cases that challenge an administrative rule requiring many for-profit companies to insure birth control. Hobby Lobby stores and Conestoga Wood Specialties are among dozens of large firms with religiously devout owners who say the “contraception mandate” tied to the Affordable Care Act infringes on their right to religious freedom. The Obama administration asked the high court to review the issue after a federal appeals court in Colorado found in favor of Hobby Lobby, an Oklahoma-based crafts franchise, setting up a closely
Among the many who decried the Obama Administration’s catastrophic capitulation to the nuclear ambitions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, none spelled out its potential consequences as trenchantly as Israel’s Economy Minister Naftali Bennett: “We awoke this morning to a new reality,” he said Sunday. “A reality in which a bad deal was signed with Iran. A very bad deal. If a nuclear suitcase blows up five years from now in New York or Madrid, it will be because of the deal that was signed this morning.”(snip)That violence and tyranny is not incidental to the theology of the Twelfth Imam,
Kanye West recently declared that he was done criticizing President Barack Obama. “I’m not gonna mention him no more,” the rapper said. “I’m past that.” Well, that lasted about a week. West ripped Obama again in an interview with New York radio station Hot 97 on Monday. "The reason why Obama mention our name is cause we’re most relevant,” West said. “…He’s just saying that trying to be cool. Obama was supposed to the coolest person on the planet now he gotta say our names to be cool. It´s like a feature, we feature in his interviews right now. They need a feature from
According to a centuries old rumor, Roman Emperor Nero played his fiddle as Rome burned for six days in A.D. 64, destroying 70% of the city. While historians ponder if Nero, an aloof ruler and moonlighting musician, really did play his harp-like Cithara as Rome went up in flames, or whether the rumor is simply a metaphor for his absentee leadership, he wasn’t the world’s first top political figure to disappoint. And certainly not the last. In piecing together the vast intelligence warnings on Benghazi, will Hillary Clinton go down in history as another Nero? We’ve all heard stories about
New York - Police in New York have arrested a man following a spate of random attacks they believe are linked to a so-called "knockout" game. Officers arrested Amrit Marajh on charges of assault after a man claimed he was punched in the face as he walked down the street. Police are investigating whether the attack was part of a new craze, in which people seek to knock out unsuspecting members of the public with a single punch. The 24-year-old alleged victim, who was not seriously injured, said he overheard a group talking about it before he was knocked to the ground in Brooklyn at around
Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) said on MSNBC’s “PoliticsNation” Wednesday that when Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish, “he didn’t charge food stamps.” “When Jesus had those five loaves and two fishes, he didn´t charge food stamps. He didn´t ask anybody how much money they had. He fed them because they were hungry, and that´s really where we ought to be,” McDermott said in response to Republican critics of the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program). In September, the House approved a plan by Republicans to cut $39 billion in food stamps over the next
The nation’s view of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, colored by the horrific Benghazi assassination of the U.S. ambassador to Libya on her watch, has suddenly turned upside down, with more now holding an unfavorable opinion of the likely 2016 presidential candidate. A new YouGov/Economist poll found Clinton, whose approval ratings have typically been sky high, with an unfavorable rating of 48 percent, more than the 46 percent who have a favorable opinion of her. The YouGov pollsters said that the change in American attitudes toward Clinton "suggests that negative press surrounding the tragic
President Obama will cast growing income inequality and a decline in economic mobility as a “fundamental threat to the American dream” during a speech Wednesday in Washington. The speech will serve as an early preview for next year’s State of the Union address, according to a White House official, who said Obama would focus much of his energy over the next three years on the issue. “The decisions we make over the next few years will determine whether or not our children will grow up in an America where, if you work hard, you can get ahead,” the official said.
Bill Clinton, the cliché goes, was the first black president, no matter his skin color. That being the case, Barack Obama is not the first black president, or the first African-American president, if you prefer, but the first hippie president. Clinton’s southern background and lifestyle were indeed more typically black, just as Obama’s was more typically hippie. And we’re not just talking about the “Choom gang” here, scarfing “Maui Wowie” on the sands of Oahu. We’re talking about all of it, the whole multi-culti-missing-white-mother-vanished-Kenyan-father-anti-imperialist-America-is-always-the-enemy-and-don’t-you-forget-it-nine-yards. And like most hippie culture as I knew and experienced it, it wasn’t about “peace and love.” Not
During a presentation at the White House in which President Barack Obama touted the benefits of the Affordable Care Act, the president declared that his signature health care reform law was not going to be repealed. This assertion led his administration members, his staff, and audience members to rise from their seats and give the president a standing ovation. Obama said that ACA opponents’ alternative to the health care reform law is to champion repeal and going back to the health care delivery system status quo ante. He specifically cited Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) who he said was asked directly for
A woman has revealed how difficult it is to eat healthily and stay full when living off an average food stamp budget. Melinda Moulton, from Huntington, Vermont, was one of 200 people to take part in the 3Squares Challenge, which saw her living for a week on just $36 worth of food, or around $1.71 a meal. Opting to try and eat as healthily as possible, Ms Moulton resorted to cheap foods like yogurt for breakfast, two handfuls of peanuts for lunch and lentil stew for dinner, all of which left her unsatisfied.´I don´t know how people do it,´ said
Good stuff from Jonathan Turley at today’s House hearing on executive power, although I regret that I couldn’t find a more user-friendly format for you to watch. There’s no compilation clip; you’ll have to make do with the C-SPAN embed by fast-forwarding to the time cues I give you and being patient while the vid buffers (and buffers, and buffers).(Snip)That brings us to point two: Even if Congress can’t stop Obama, the courts can. The problem there, though, says Turley, is that O and the DOJ have argued successfully in many cases that no one has standing to sue him
Nineteen people stood behind President Obama on stage in the Executive Office Building Tuesday as the president kicked off a new campaign to promote Obamacare. One of those people, a young Florida woman named Monica Weeks, introduced Obama after telling the story of being struck with Crohn´s Disease at age 19 and receiving expensive treatments for several years that were covered by her parents´ health care plan — because Obamacare allowed her to remain on that plan until age 26. Now, Weeks said, she has coverage through a job. "The Affordable Care Act gives young adults who are just starting
CNN host wondered out loud on his show this evening whether the physically unfit Chris Christie could follow the "perfect physical specimen" Barack Obama into the White House: "After the perfect Barack Obama, who´s a perfect physical specimen to many people´s eyes, does it matter?" Morgan asked his guest. "Or is actually somebody very different, someone who´s much more of a regular kind of guy who likes cheeseburgers and beer, but appears to be a straight talker, somebody perhaps more of a straight talker than it appears Barack Obama turned out to be?"
Nobody could accuse the press of ignoring the fiasco-on-a-server that is HealthCare.gov. The Obamacare website’s woes are dominating coverage on the network news, the cable talk shows, the blogs and, of course, high-octane websites like POLITICO. But did the press do a good job of covering the Affordable Care Act before the health care exchanges went online—sort of—on Oct. 1? Were we adequately warned of the troubles that were to come? And now that HealthCare.gov’s problems are headline news, is the coverage of it any better? Sure, one can find a few examples of one news outlet or another warning of impending
MSNBC´s Chris Matthews will interview President Barack Obama this Thursday, the network announced Tuesday. The interview is part of Matthews´ "Hardball College Tour," and will take place at American University in Washington, D.C. According to a news release from MSNBC, Matthews, along with university students, will "discuss a variety of topics with the president including voter suppression, healthcare, the decline of confidence in the government and the overall political dysfunction in Washington." On Monday our colleagues Carrie Budoff Brown and Jonathan Allen reported that the White House is launching a coordinated campaign to return attention to why the Affordable Care Act
MSNBC has announced that Chris Matthews, Barack Obama´s most excitable fan, will be interviewing the President on Thursday´s Hardball. Fawning over the liberal politician is incredibly common among journalists, but Matthews has taken it to a whole new level. According to the network host, Obama is a "perfect," "cool," brilliant figure who is comparable to Jesus, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. The verbose Matthews has no filter when it comes to the Democrat, even once bizarrely blurting out that an Obama speech made him "forget" that the commander in chief "was black." To prepare you for the likely love-fest
