NYT Public Editor Says Paper

Benghazi hearings open in the House on Wednesday, and the New York Times printed a preview on page 16 of Wednesday´s edition that downplayed any possible revelations about the Obama administration´s reaction to the terrorist attack, which killed ambassador Chris Stevens and three others. Testimony is expected by three State Department officials, led by U.S. diplomat Gregory Hicks, deputy mission chief in Tripoli, who said his pleas for military assistance were overruled. Feeling reader pressure after the Washington Post led its Tuesday´s edition by setting up the House hearings, Public Editor Margaret Sullivan addressed the issue

ALL networks would have pre-empted regular broadcasting to cover such a story, [IF this was a Republican ´scandal´]. Even Fox News has terrible coverage.

Foregone conclusion... If a tree falls in the woods...."What difference does it make?" should replace "E Pluribus Unam" as the national slogan.

By definition, a scandal is a public incident that brings about disgrace and societal outrage. By giving it marginal publicity and dismissive reporting, Benghazi cannot become a scandal. The NYT knows this better than anyone. That is why the Valerie Plame incident, in which no one was killed, was a so-called scandal. If the press has its way, Fast and Furious and Benghazi will be at best footnotes in history, known but to a few scholars of the period.

Just went on the MSNBC home page on-line. No mention of the revelations at the hearing: Primary meme: Chaos.

Went to Philadelphia Inquirer page -- No mention of Benghazi at all.

Arias verdict is all over CNN.

I would describe the NYTime coverage, so far, as measured. At least they mention that Issa is seen as calm, and the Dems are attacking him.

Outside Washington DC and New York people of America are paying attention. The LSM are only deluding themselves pretending if they don´ report it we won´t know. The low information voters will never know anything, they are morons. The elite know what is going on, whether the LSM reports it or not. The world outside America knows what is going on with Obama and Clinton whether the LSM reports it or not. The LSM are a bunch of ostriches with THEIR head in the sand. That does not mean people won´t know we are led by a bunch of cowardly fools.

If the NYT were an objective news outlet, it would simply cover the hearings and not care where the investigation led.

FTA: The story of what might have happened inside the Obama White House on the night of the attack and the administration’s response in the days that followed has captivated conservatives on Capitol Hill and beyond for almost eight months now. It is a subject of continuous debate and coverage on Fox News, among conservative talk show hosts and bloggers, and at town hall-style meetings with members of Congress.

So, the Times is not concerned about what might have happened inside the WH? Is that what they´re saying?

NY Times will not report on hearings. Instead, it will produce an editorial praising Obama and HRC for their ability to suffer these partisan attacks with such patience. "At a time when the President is focused on solving the Syrian crisis, the GOP is trying to create a distraction over an already investigated incident in Libya."

Susan Rice is still UN Ambassador, John Brennan is CIA head, STD Clapper is Director of National Security, Hillary trumps all for 2016 and Obama will play more golf this weekend. Only the loved ones of the Benghazi Four will feel the emptiness and grief.

For the first time in American history, non-whites will make up half or more of the next generation, likely pushing Washington toward a bigger government — and the GOP better tone down their anti-government rhetoric if they want to win them, according to a top polling outfit. At a briefing for congressional aides hosted by the moderate Republican Ripon Society, Pew Research Vice President Michael Dimock said that the trend among younger Americans is support for government programs and acceptance of Democratic Party policies.“Their tendency is more liberal, their tendency is bigger government,” he said of so-called “millennials” born between

Rick Perry said today it’s “nonsense” to focus on equal pay for women when there are other more important pressing issues like job creation and cutting regulations for business. Perry made the rounds of the morning cable shows Tuesday in New York on his “I’m the Jobs Governor” tour in advance of the 2016 presidential race. Perry stumbled badly in his last race for the White House. But he says he’s looking at another run. “I used to be bucked off those ponies all the time, and my dad would say, ‘Son, get back on.’” Democrat Wendy Davis is making

Reid Cherlin, a former White House press aide, has written a critical look at the First Lady’s office in the current issue of The New Republic. Entitled, “The Worst Wing: How the East Wing Shrunk Michelle Obama,” the piece consists primarily of unnamed former aides complaining about her “leadership style,” and their inability to cultivate a good relationship with her. Cherlin, now a journalist, writes: The “first lady’s office can be a confining, frustrating, even miserable place to work. Jealousy and discontentment have festered, as courtiers squabble over the allocation of responsibility and access to Mrs. Obama, both of which

With Hillary Clinton already locking up massive amounts of cash for a presumptive 2016 presidential run, members of the hard left may be looking for an alternative. Many Democrats remain uninspired by Clinton’s progressive record – her most leftist period came during her early days as First Lady, and resulted in part in a 1994 Republican Congressional landslide – and have urged other candidates to jump into the race to provide a boost for a further-left agenda. Polls show Clinton defeating all comers in potential primary matchups. But polls also show that her appeal stems largely from her status as

Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

A pair of potentially catastrophic cases will be argued before the Supreme Court on Tuesday. These cases are brought by privately held, for-profit corporations that are arguing their religious convictions should preclude them from offering employees the health insurance required by law. Specifically, these private employers don’t want to allow their employees’ insurance to cover some forms of birth control because, contrary to medicaland scientific evidence, they believe some birth control causes abortions. Corporations are not people. Corporations cannot have religious views. If religious rights are extended to corporations, it puts us on a slippery slope where any private company
