During an April 24 address to the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF), Attorney General Eric Holder told the crowd that “creating a pathway to earned citizenship” is a critical element of any comprehensive immigration reform plan. He said that establishing legal status for the nation’s estimated 11 million illegal immigrants is a “matter of civil and human rights.” “Creating a pathway to earned citizenship for the 11 million unauthorized immigrants in this country is essential,” Holder said to applause. “The way we treat our friends and neighbors who are undocumented by creating a mechanism for
Comments: Wow. Just wow. Isn´t this astonishing coming from the one who is the highest ranking law enforcement officer of the USA. That is shocking and terribly, terribly disturbing. I´m sure some other country would feel the same way if millions and millions of illegals entered their country. s/o
What about MY Civil and Human Rights? This government is turning me and mine into SLAVES, forcing us to support, educate and house people who have invaded our country. I have no more compassion, I just want them deported. I´ve had enough of illegals, their demands, La Raza and the Obama Administration. Holder is a traitor to America.
Why not make all Mexican citizens USA citizens and start sending them benefits right now and just open up the border. The Fed could just print a trillion dollars a month instead of the 85 billion already being printed.. Why are we giving our country away ? Will anyone fight back ?
It horrifies me that this administration, which was sworn to protect and defend our Constitution, does absolutely whatever it wants. But frankly, that is who they are and who they´ve always been. They aren´t hiding. The ones who really infuriate me are guys like McCain, Rubio, et al. who are on board with this nonsense. We are done.
Integrity of borders is a matter of international civilization and national sovereignty. The right to own property is not recognized everywhere in the world, and that´s one of the things that USED to make this country special.
But these days we see too many slippery slopes and government dopes....
I had this same argument with a prominent leftist. They honestly believe that ANYBODY should automatically become a US citizen with voting rights just by reaching US soil. When I pointed out that means the Chinese could just overrun the US Embassy and gain electoral control over the presidency he had no response to that.
As Rush noted today, there are 7 billion human beings in the world. And under Holder´s logic, every one of those has a civil right to be a U.S. citizen. And the right to collect welfare/food stamps/SSI.
This speech makes it sound like right now there is no legal process for anyone to become a citizen. In fact, there are thousands of people involved in that process right now. Not that Holder wants his precious lofo people to know that.
Holder has ignored and/or broken more laws than most of those illegal immigrants. No wonder he believes it´s no big deal. Our Coward-in-Chief holds even greater guilt for giving this criminal pal of his the highest law enforcement position in the country.
What is with this 11 million figure. That number has been the same since I was in high school.
It is close t0 30 to 50 million and then times that by 4 to 8 with all of their relatives regardless what nations they are from. It is not just South of the Border for CA, AZ, NM, and TX - there are waves of illegal aliens entering our country from ALL borders of the country.
And the reality - give them easy access to citizenship = Dem voters and welfare recepients.
Those with skills, education and advanced degrees are either sponsored by employment or family or are recruited to move to the US.
And as prior poster stated Holder´s belief is that every one in the world has the right to become a citizen of the US.
Well, what bleep happened to my parents who entered this country legally and obtained American citizenship the legal and correct way (coming from France and Italy and not on a boat but a plane)?
This alone should be grounds for removal from office.
This is stupidity to the point of insanity. Under corrupt "conservatives", at least the Chinese had to purchase our country. But, if it´s a "human right" to become an American citizen simply by coming into the country then all an invading army needs to do is walk right in and take it free of charge. Liberals will greet them all with "love" and food stamps.
If everything is a right then nothing is a right. The left believes everyone has the right to a job, housing, food, clothing, cell phone, healthcare, livable wage - where does it end? Eric does that civil and human right apply to everyone in the world? So everyone in the world has the right to come here and be a citizen. What a fool he is and also those who listened and willingly agreed.
What right does he have to speak about civil and human rights. What about the human rights of those Mexicans who died as a result of fast and furious, what about the human rights of those babies murdered at his wife´s abortion clinic? Or are their rights only valid when it means a vote for one of your cronies or more money in your pocket Mr. Holder.
Don´t you get it? Obama, Holder and friends are playing to the stupids, ill-informed, uneducated, wishful thinkers willing to risk all WE had for power and that socialism. By education, I don´t mean school. It is a choice to make learning a continuous process to gain unbiased knowledge and truth.
My guess is that the testicles are removed from lawyers who go to DC.....where are the impeachment proceedings for a man who stands and shouts his abrogation of his Constitutional duties to the citizens? Both parties are filled with gutless humps, just like the skinnyboy from Africa.
#33, that´s their intention. Plans are gong so very well, don´t you agree? Fraud and stupidity put the foxes in charge. They begin the hen house slaughter as there is no one of courage to call them on it, fire a shot, or even take a pitchfork to them. Time grows short. According to our own boy, Johnny, we will be seeing this-- like it or not.
The stupidity of a person like Holder, the ´job´ he holds although TOTALLY unqualified leaves me cold. There must be a moronic test number to be achieved in order to get a position in this White House...The stupid comments are unbelievable! I´d like to have a national platform like this jerk and say ´we the people will no longer pay our taxes until you numbskulls in Washington OBEY and FOLLOW the law as all other citizens have to . What are they going to do, put 150 million in jail???

They already have citizenship. IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES!!!!!!
What about my human right of having the government obey and uphold our laws?
This is political pandering and the race card being played before the very liberal ethnic and immigrant rights groups who are politically allied with the liberal Democrats. The liberal Democrats, and Holder is a liberal Democrat, know that probably 85 to 90% of illegal aliens who would be given US citizenship as the result of the current liberal Democrat amnesty and path to citizenship proposal now in Congress would eventually become Democrat voters of the socialist oriented species.
If that happens and all the unintended consequences start occurring, like the Republicans being no longer able to win states like Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Nevada and Texas just as they can no longer win in California, the blame should rest squarely upon cheap foreign labor seeking Republicans, who are obviously feeling peachy these days about destroying the current two party political system in the USA by handing the liberal Democrats, first the political cover to pass their amnesty and path to citizenship, and then eventually tens of millions of new foreign born voters in the years ahead.
Looks like Holder is playing the race card against the wimpy Republicans who oppose granting US citizenship to up to 20 million illegal aliens and that many of their foreign family members who would then get to come here. Once the race card is on the table the wimpy Republicans usually fold pretty quickly, we saw that clearly back during the housing crisis.
”Eric Holder: Citizenship for illegal immigrants is a ‘matter of ensuring Democrat majorities” --
#29 gets it (although I’d insert the word “perpetual” between “ensuring” and “Democrat"). Holder’s “rights” include one tacit quid-pro-quo for the "new Americans": pulling the “D” lever in every election.
You want to pop a leftist’s circuit-breakers? Tell him you’re all in favor of unlimited, unrestricted immigration – with the proviso that this flavor of “citizenship” bars the (ahem) holders, and their offspring to the n-th generation, from voting and from receiving so much as a dime of government largesse.
Nearly two-thirds of Republicans want their party to change its direction, and more than half say they want the party to become more conservative, according to a new poll. When asked if Republicans just need to make a stronger case on their positions or whether they need to reconsider some of those positions, 59 percent of GOP voters surveyed in a Pew Research Center poll said the party needs to reconsider some policies, while 36 percent said it just needs to make a stronger case. Sixty-seven percent said the party needs to address major problems as opposed
The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture may want to add Trayvon Martin’s hoodie to its collection, according to its director, Lonnie Bunch. In an interview with the Washington Post, Bunch says he’d love to have it, explaining curators could use the hoodie to “ask the bigger questions” prompted by the Zimmerman case. “Because [the hoodie is] such a symbol, it would allow you to talk about race in the age of Obama,” he told the Post. Another one of those questions, he says: “Are we in a post-racial age? . . .
So I guess going to a New York McDonald’s isn’t a good idea right now. Videographer and conservative blogger Adam Sharp of SharpElbows.net attended one such demonstration and interviewed an SEIU member, easily identifiable as such by his purple shirt. When asked whether the union member supported the $15 per hour wage increase the McDonald’s workers were demanding, he admitted, “I’m not sure.” He also said he was there to show his support for the workers rather than the company and expressed a fear that, “if they’re [the McDonald’s employees] p****d off, they could be doing something to that food.”
The former commander of special operations in Northern Africa told a closed-door briefing today that he was largely detached from events the night of the Benghazi attack as he was traveling at the time. The testimony of Col. George H. Bristol, USMC, Former Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Africa, had been eagerly anticipated by members of Congress. Originally, lawmakers had been told by the Defense Department that he had retired — the actual date is Aug. 1, an “administrative error” according to the Pentagon — and that they didn’t have
“Thousands of people will die every year” and “costs will continue to go out of control” under Obamacare, says Public Citizen President Robert Weissman. The only solution is to nationalize health care through a single-payer system, Reps. John Conyers (D-Mich.) and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Public Citizen argued outside the U.S. Capitol Wednesday. “Is this realistic after the passage of the Affordable Care Act?” asked Public Citizen President Robert Weissman. “This is what we know is going to happen after the Affordable Care Act is implemented. “However well it goes, whatever
Mark Levin, who hosts one of America´s top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people´s pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government. The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama´s use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and
Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey — whose most recent work includes the psychological thriller, “House of Cards,” about an unethical congressman — said in a recent interview that most Americans just aren’t grasping President Obama’s greatness. “President Obama will go down as having passed some of the most historic bills in the history of this country,” he said, in a recent talk with Hot Press magazine. “That despite constant knee-jerk opposition from the Republicans. A lot of people don’t realize how much he’s done in the most difficult circumstances.” Mr. Spacey is far less appreciative of Congress. “It’s maybe interesting
"THANKS -- WANT TO CHIP IN FOR A GIFT?" That´s the message the Democratic Party is delivering to supporters as President Obama´s 52th birthday on August 4 nears. "Thanks for signing President Obama´s birthday card. What would be a better gift than electing more Democrats? It will take resources to win back the House and keep the Senate," reads the DNC email. "In honor of President Obama´s 52nd birthday, donate to help elect more Democrats." The email opens with a cute picture of Bo the first dog and an email line reading: "Help Bo."
President Obama took the opportunity to honor the defending Major League Baseball champion San Francisco Giants and added this...? On Monday, Obama announced plans to turn the Giants´ center field bleachers into the nation´s first "edible garden" at a major league stadium. It will be interesting to see who gets the privileged access to AT&T Park to tend to this "edible garden" or how it may or may not interfere with the batter´s line of sight (there is usually no seating or bright colors allowed in straight-away center field as to not
House Republicans, in a lengthy report on the Justice Department´s leak investigations, formally accused Attorney General Eric Holder of misleading Congress with "deceptive" testimony that he knew nothing of the "potential prosecution" of the press. The 70-page report was released late Wednesday by Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee. To coincide with the release, lawmakers also wrote a letter to President Obama calling for a "change in leadership" at the Justice Department. "The deceptive and misleading testimony of Attorney General Holder is unfortunately just the most recent example in a long list of scandals that
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
In May of 2010 while operating in southern Helmand Province, Afghanistan, as an infantryman, I was attached to a unit that was employing a female engagement team to supplement their already robust outreach campaign to the local villagers of Marjah. While the Marines—or “lioness” team—did an admirable job, it was clear that their presence in the midst of an all-male infantry company currently involved in combat operations clearly restructured the dynamic on the ground. Lieutenant Colonel Robert Macginnis in his book Deadly Consequences: How Cowards are Pushing Women into Combat proposes that
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. It is a small Alaskan village whose inhabitants have relied on the sea for countless generations. But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get
