President Obama´s sequester scare strategy has been a political flop, but his government keeps trying. The latest gambit is to force airline flight delays until enough travellers stuck on tarmacs browbeat enough Republicans to raise taxes again. This week the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) began furloughing each of its air-traffic controllers for one day out of every 10 to achieve roughly $600 million in savings this fiscal year. The White House dubiously claims that the furloughs are required by the sequester spending cuts enacted in 2011.
One day when gold is $15,000.00 an ounce, gas is $20 a gallon, and the US Debt Clock is $200+ trillion, and the stock market is back to triple digits, then maybe Republicans can finally blame the Democrats for something. Payback is gonna be a beeyatch.
Liberals don´t have IQ´s high enough to know the difference between a budget cut and a cut in the rate of growth. How sad they blame the wrong people because their ignorance. If they were intelligent they would be blaming the President.
I was watching two of my local news affiliates (in Pittsburgh), and they both had stories on the delays at US airports caused by the sequester, with obligatory interviews of persons inconvenienced by the spending cuts. My first thought is that these news affiliate stations (ABC and CBS) had to have been given these filler stories by the Obama administration--they stories were about delays in Florida, not in Pittsburgh. They felt highly contrived, but they´re certainly serving their purpose. After reading this article, I bet large sums of money that these local stories (which have nothing to do with the local airport) are part of Obama´s "political strategy".
By the way, why do taxes have anything to do with air traffic control? This cost should be borne by air travelers and general aviation, not subsidized by taxpayers. I fly 4 or 5 times a year round trip to Florida, South Carolina and California. I flew today (with a 40 minute delay) on Southwest from Tampa to Albany. As a taxpayer I don´t want to pay to subsidize the cost of someone flying for business or pleasure or for FedEx to fly freight.
Obama does this because the Republicans can´t get their act together enough to rebut it. If the Republicans can´t get in front of a camera and effectively challenge this, then buy some 30 second ads on TV and radio to cleverly debunk Obama´s propaganda. Ridicule his lies and petulant threats. Don´t just sit there. Take action.
Having a member of the family in ATC, I can assure you this is a dangerous and very unnecessary political stunt. The agency has told chiefs and managers that this has to look like it hurts. Many facilities´ traffic has already seen drops of up to half since 9-11. Many controllers spend less than half of an 8 hour day on position while being paid handsomely. Any reporter (hello, Breitbart!) who has some time could uncover corruption of finite but serious proportions. The chiefs will go along with the government´s orders even though things should still run smoothly so that the low info voter and even you smart people will go to your congressmen/women and senators and demand the "cuts" stop.
We avoid air travel now. Mostly because many controllers lack the experience the flying public expects them to have. The new kids on the block, well let´s just say, they have the work ethic of teenagers. Happy Flying!!!
Cut 30 cents and the airports close, libraries are shut down, mosquito control stops. Fire all of them. Give us our money back, and we will pay for our services after the service has been rendered. We will see how long those services are withheld.
If he had any sense he´d drop it. No one is falling for his tricks this time. People are getting upset alright... At him. Thanks to alternative media people are learning that the sequester was his idea. They can see the farce of canceling tours in "their" White House because he can´t pay the Secret Service agents. We all know that they were simply reassigned to other duties. The parties go on. The vacations go on. The green boondoggles go on and billions are sent to our enemies overseas. Sequester? Right.
Obama is a marxist revolutionary. This is what they do. Cause mass national stress. He`ll do whatever he can to blame the GOP, (and there is a lot to blame them for), in an attempt to win back the House in 2014.
We just had a terrorist attack and what is Congress doing? Trying to ram immigration `reform` down our throats. Nothing will stop these people, democrats or republicans.
The sequester was a spending increase, and spending increases always delay flights. And only the Obamas deserve to party with Beyonce because they care about you. Why are Americans putting up with this Democrat-induced world gone mad? Why?
The lofo public puts up with him because he is Obamaclaus, giver of the free goodies. The cracks in his support will occur when the coming tax increases hit them like a tone of bricks. Remember their reaction in January? They thought they were safe from tax increases and that only the ´rich´ would be getting them. Welcome to realityville suckers.
I HAD to be flying yesterday, unfortunately, and experienced the slowdown. Lots and lots and lots of grumpy fellow travelers and everyone, I mean everyone, believes it is Zero playing politics. And of course it is.
I´m with #9, haven´t flown since 9/11. But even if I did fly-- and even if I had to suffer the inconvenience of politically-motivated flight delays-- I´d think it well worth the scarifice if later I could look back on the sequester ´cuts´ and say they were the beginning of getting our debt under control and taking back our country. You know-- pay any price, go anwyhere, etc. etc. for freedom.
Now I read they are cutting he money to the senior " Meals on Wheels " program. Obama has NO heart and will damage/punish anyone for his political purposes. That program does NOT cost any more this year than last, and there is MORE money being spent this year than last, so the question to ask the politicians is, WHERE is the money going ? and furthermore, WHERE is the additional money going that is being spent this year above last year
obozo/schmobozo, it is not single person, although he is big part of the regime, at least, serves as a show window. But my point is that this leftist clique is making strong efforts to whip America into submission. The only thing they didn´t say to us: We will show you, motherkissers, who is the boss here!
Yes, #30, unfortunately, we are all so afraid and lazy to acknowledge it. I think many people are looking at the repubics in Congress, even Judge Roberts, and think, if these people are scared by the regime, I should be afraid too.
This is what Rush was talking about...Obama wants us to snap. He wants us on edge. He wants us agitated, upset, whatever it takes. This isn´t politics...it´s community organizing at its best. As most of these posts made clear: When, oh, when will the GOP buy a clue and stand up to this bully?
Hey Obie. Try this new political strategy: resign your job, move to Europe (and please take Moochie with you, bro), have Bite Me resign and disappear. Have Reid take off and become a Walmart greeter somewhere (sorry, Walmart). Let´s have Boehner handle it until 2016. Then we can start over with an Executive Branch that actually does the job. Cleaning house in the House and Senate will be a bear cat to be sure. The Purge among the Supremes will take time, unfortuately.
This is an attack by the Øbama administration against the American people! It will get worse!

Obama´s cheap political stunts make us all wonder what he will try next week.
The House majority should launch a major investigation of Obama´s involvement in Fast and Furious, Benghazi, and policies relating to relaxed security regarding the Boston bombers, and voter and election fraud.
Obama´s petty childish stunts are especially annoying when we know that he is, at best, a naturalized citizen and ineligible to hold the office of pResident.
President Obama promised to mend the failings in the American health-care system, and yet for cancer treatment, ObamaCare is taking a rotten feature of the old system and making it worse. The Affordable Care Act expands a program called 340B, which siphons money from drug makers and insurers to subsidize certain hospitals. The program has been expanded as a way to offset some of the cuts that the law imposes on hospitals. One significant side effect: 340B is increasing the cost of cancer care—and harming its quality. When the program began in 1992, its aim was to support
Most Americans would agree that academic freedom is a sacred right of the academy and crucial to the American experiment in democracy. But what is it really? That´s the question raised by the Associated Press´s July 16 release of emails between Mitch Daniels, when he was the governor of Indiana, and his staff concerning Howard Zinn´s "A People´s History of the United States." The emails were written in 2010 and Mr. Daniels, whose second term as governor ended this January, is now president of Purdue University in Indiana. Published in 1980, Zinn´s "A People´s History"
Fiscal Policy: President Obama has proposed a "grand bargain" with Republicans: They get a tax cut for corporations, he gets more money to spend on worthless government stimulus. That´s no bargain — that´s surrender. In the latest attempt by Democrats to disguise GOP capitulation as centrist "compromise," Obama said he´ll sign off on a cut in the corporate tax rate from 35% to 28% — with an even lower rate of 25% for manufacturers — if Republicans will agree to spend more on Obama´s "investments" and OK a tax hike on U.S. companies doing business overseas.
In Chattanooga on Tuesday, the latest stop on his economic inequality tour, President Obama made himself an offer he couldn´t refuse. If Congressional Republicans agree to a corporate tax increase, he said, then he´ll agree to spend more money on his favorite public-works projects. If Republicans bargain hard, will he also offer an expansion of ObamaCare as a sweetener? We know this sounds like an exaggeration, but that´s the essence of what the President proposed as what he called a new "grand bargain." Mr. Obama will agree to reform the corporate tax code—a GOP priority and one
Cabinet: Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee reportedly is vying to replace Janet Napolitano as Homeland Security secretary. It would be hard to find a choice worse than the gonzo Houston Democrat. Jackson-Lee has the backing of the Congressional Black Caucus, which has been aggressively lobbying President Obama to diversify his Cabinet. Given Obama´s radical second-term picks — from Thomas Perez to Mel Watt — we can´t be sure he´ll pass on the recommendation, nutty as it is. According to the Houston Chronicle, the head of the Black Caucus last week in a letter to Obama praised Jackson-Lee as a "voice of reason" for Homeland
Obamanomics: The president has been decrying the growing gap between rich and poor in the U.S. to help sell his retread tax-and-spend proposals. But those policies have already produced record levels of income inequality. In his speech in Illinois last week, and at events since, Obama described income inequality in the starkest terms. "This growing inequality is morally wrong," he said, and "undermines the very essence of America." To be sure, income inequality is a standard trope for liberals, who always use it to advocate more wealth redistribution. And Obama´s latest focus neatly coincides with his plans to push
RUSH: Angela in Dallas, it´s great to have you. I´m glad you waited. Welcome to the EIB Network. Hello. CALLER: Hi, Rush. So good to talk to you. Thanks for taking my call. RUSH: You bet. CALLER: I just about choked on my coffee this morning when I heard the recommendation by the Black Caucus for Sheila Jackson Lee to be the head of DHS. I´m from Texas, and this woman is a colossal embarrassment to the majority of the citizens of Texas.
Huma Abedin, the wife of former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.), dined Monday night with Hillary Clinton´s spokesman Philippe Reines. The two were spotted at Meiwah, a Chinese restaurant in Washington, D.C., according to reports. The public meeting comes amid speculation that former President Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton are concerned about the fallout as Weiner struggles to regain a foothold in the race for New York City mayor after new revelations emerged about his lewd online behavior. Reports citing many close to the Clintons said the couple was angered by comparisons between their
RUSH: Now, yesterday I mentioned a comment in a sort of throwaway fashion, and we had a caller who was asking me... I forget the specific issue he was asking me about, but it was something where for years, Washington, both parties have been saying something. And then when the opportunity comes to them to back it up, all of a sudden they don´t. I was explaining about how in 25 years of doing this program, things are starting to repeat now. I´m starting to learn when politicians have said things they don´t really mean.
RUSH: The Weiner Stack is growing. His fortunes are shrinking. In fact, there´s a piece here by Tina Brown, there´s two things here that are actually interesting. There´s a piece by Tina Brown in which she says we gotta stop with all the dickmanship. Yeah. Here it is. Tina Brown shares her thoughts on what she called "dickmanship," and we gotta get rid of it. And then, folks, are you ready for this? Let me find this. I´m gonna have to paraphrase it. I´m really sorry.
Who the heck does Huma think she is? That´s the question "a top [New York] state Democrat" is asking about Anthony Weiner´s wife, according to a report by Fred Dicker of the New York Post. "The Clintons are pis$$ed off that Weiner´s campaign is saying that Huma is just like Hillary,´´ Dicker´s Dem declares. "How dare they compare Huma with Hillary? Hillary was the first lady. Hillary was a senator. She was secretary of state." Being called low-class by the Clintons has got to hurt. But we don´t see how Dicker´s source´s comparison works to Huma´s disadvantage.
Democrats in Congress hope the Travyon Martin tragedy can help them accomplish something they have worked on for years to no avail: an end to racial profiling. "Trayvon is one of too many individuals across the country who have been victimized by a perception of criminality simply because of their race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. These individuals are denied the basic respect and equal treatment that is the right of every American," says Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., who is sponsoring the End Racial Profiling Act.
Conservative bloggers went wild Monday when they got wind of the Congressional Black Caucus’ suggestion that President Obama pick Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Houston for the post of Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. Rich Cooper, avid blogger for Security Debrief, responded to the news of the Jackson Lee recommendation in a post by saying, “Apparently, it is not a joke. For reasons that baffle any sense of reality, it is a serious gesture on the part of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to encourage President Obama to nominate Rep. Jackson Lee
There have been days since her son Ezekiel was born 11 months ago that Los Angeles mom Beth Capper has gone without food to keep up her supply. One friend was arrested for stealing some. It´s not drugs or alcohol or even baby formula that has put her in such a bind. It´s diapers. "There´s no way around buying them," said Capper, a 41-year-old single mother who doesn´t work because of a disability. Across the country, mothers like Capper are facing the same predicament. According to a report published Monday in the

But within a decade, it is expected that the ocean which the village of Kivalina has so relied on will completely destroy it--creating America´s first climate change refugees. America is in great shape energy-wise. We have more gas and oil reserves than ever before. Indeed, the United States could shortly become the world’s largest exporter of coal. Our cheaper power rates may bring energy-intensive industry back from Europe and Asia. If America’s small colleges are nearly broke and our public schools failing, nonetheless our blue-chip universities’ math, science, and engineering departments, and professional schools, remain the best in the world. Anthony Weiner may have violated federal law when he failed to disclose his lavish six-figure wedding in his financial disclosure forms, says a government accountability group. Ethics watchdog group National Legal and Policy Center examined the federal Financial Disclosure Reports for both Weiner and long-suffering wife Huma Abedin for 2010, the year of their wedding. The cost for the ceremony was at least $100,000 but probably ran closer to $250,000 including all
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
Many low-income families receive government assistance to help them purchase food and housing. Diapers are another story, a new study suggests. In what they are calling the first peer-reviewed study to quantify diaper need, Yale University researchers have found nearly a third of mothers cannot afford to purchase their infants diapers, raising health risks for not only babies but for moms who become stressed over the finances. "Notably absent from the antipoverty efforts targeting families is an essential staple for the health of children, diapers," wrote the researchers, led by Dr. Megan Smith,
Mideast: The sequester has "cost jobs," says President Obama, and "gutted investments in education and science and medical research." But somehow he´s earmarked $500 million for Hamas terrorists. Circumventing Congress and with no fanfare, President Obama last week issued an executive order enabling him to send an additional $500 million directly to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank — much of which you can bet will wind up going to the Iranian-backed Hamas terrorist organization. According to Obama, "it is important to the national security interests of the United States to waive the provisions of" Congress´ legislative restrictions "in
The mother of Trayvon Martin said Monday that she believed Florida’s Stand Your Ground law played a role in her son’s shooting death, but she wasn’t ready to support a boycott of the state for not changing the self-defense law. “The thing about this law is I just think it assisted the person who killed my son to get away with murder,” Sybrina Fulton, the mother of the 17-year-old from Miami Gardens, said at a National Bar Association event in Miami Beach. “I think we have to change these laws so people don’t get
A group of experts advising the nation’s premier cancer research institution has recommended sweeping changes in the approach to cancer detection and treatment, including changes in the very definition of cancer and eliminating the word entirely from some common diagnoses. Karl Rove and more than one hundred Republican donors sent a letter to Republican members of Congress on Tuesday, urging them to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that would include, among other provisions, granting "legal status" to illegal aliens who meet certain criteria. Anticipating that lawmakers will face resistance to the bill when they go home for the August recess, the letter marks the escalation of a campaign in which Republican leaders and donors are pressuring House Republicans to act on an immigration reform bill.
